Os cofins da terra
1 Falou mais o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:
2 Dá ordem aos filhos de Israel, e dize-lhes: Quando entrardes na terra de Canaã, esta ha de ser a terra que vos cairá de herança: a terra de Canaã, segundo os seus termos.
3 A banda do sul vos será desde o deserto de Zim até aos termos de Edom; e o termo do sul vos será desde a extremidade do mar salgado para a banda do oriente,
4 A este termo vos irá rodeado do sul para a subida de Acrabim, e passará até Zim; e as suas saídas serão do sul a Cades-Barnéia; e sairá a Hazaar-Adar, e passará a Azmom:
5 Rodeará mais este termo de Azmom até o rio do Egito: e as suas saídas serão para a banda do mar.
6 Acerca do termo do ocidente, o mar grande vos será por termo: este vos será o termo do ocidente.
7 E este vos será o termo do norte: desde o mar grande marcareis até o monte de Hor.
8 Desde o monte de Hor marcareis até á entrada de Hamate; e as saídas deste termo será até Zedade.
9 E este termo sairá até Zifrom, e as suas saídas serão em Hazar-Enã. Este vos será o termo do norte.
10 E por termo da banda do oriente marcareis de Hazar-Enã até Sefão.
11 E este termo descerá desde Sefão até Ribla, para a banda do oriente Aim: depois descerá este termo, e irá ao longo da borda do mar de Quinerete para a banda do oriente.
12 Descerá também este termo ao longo do Jordão, e as suas saídas serão no mar salgado: Esta vos será aterra, segundo os seus termos em roda.
13 E Moisés deu ordem aos filhos de Israel, dizendo: Esta é a terra que tomareis em sorte por herança, a qual o Senhor mandou dar ás nove tribos e á meia tribo.
14 Porque a tribo dos filhos dos rubenitas, segundo a casa de seus pais, e a tribo dos filhos dos gaditas, segundo a casa de seus pais, já receberam; também a meia tribo de Manassés recebeu a sua herança.
15 Já duas tribos e meia tribo receberam a sua herança daquém do Jordão de Jericó, da banda do oriente ao nascente.

4 The land which the Lord smote before the congregation of Israel is a land of cattle: and thy servants have cattle.
5 And they said further, If we find grace in thine eyes, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession; and lead us not to the Jordan.
6 But Moses said to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, "Will your brethren go to war, and will you be here?
8 So your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see this land.
9 And they came to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, and the heart of the children of Israel, that they would not come into the land which the LORD had spoken unto them.
10 And the anger of Jehovah was kindled that same day, and he swore, saying,
11 Surely the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall not see the land which I sware unto Abram, to Isaac, and to Jacob. because they have not persevered in following me;
12 Except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, because they persevered in following the Lord.
13 And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and made them to wander, until the whole generation was consumed, which had done evil in the sight of the LORD.
14 And behold, ye multitudes of sinful men have risen up in the place of your fathers, to add still more to the fierce anger of the LORD against Israel.
15 If you turn away from following him, he will also leave you again in the wilderness, and you will destroy all this people.
16 And they came to him, and said, We will build corrals here for our cattle, and cities for our children;
17 But we will arm ourselves, and make haste before the house of Israel, until we have brought them into their place; and our children shall remain in the strong cities for the inhabitants of the land.
18 We will not return to our houses until the children of Israel are in possession, every one of his inheritance.
19 For we will not inherit with them beyond the Jordan, nor any further; for we shall have our inheritance beyond the Jordan eastward.
20 And Moses said unto them, If thou shalt do so, if thou shalt be assembled for war before Jehovah;
21 And every one of you armed shall pass over Jordan before Jehovah, till he hath cast out his enemies from before him:
22 And let the earth be subjugated before the LORD; then you shall return, and you shall be excused before the LORD and before Israel: and this land shall be for a possession before the LORD:
23 And if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: but ye shall feel your sin when he shall find you.
24 Build ye cities for your children, and feed yourselves with your flocks; and do what is left of your mouth.
25 And the children of Gad said, and the children of Reuben unto Moses, saying, As my lord commandeth, so shall thy servants do.
26 Our children, and our wives, and our cattle, and all our cattle, shall be in the cities of Gilead.
27 But your servants shall pass away, every man armed to fight for war, before the LORD, as my lord hath said.
28 And Moses gave orders to Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel.
29 And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad, and the children of Reuben, pass through the Jordan with you, every man that is set before the LORD for war; and the land shall be subjugated before you, ye shall give them the land of Gilead in possession;
30 But if they do not pass by armed with you, then they shall set yourselves as possessors among you in the land of Canaan.
31 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, What the LORD hath spoken unto thy servants, this we will do.
32 We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, and we shall possess the inheritance of our inheritance beyond the Jordan.

11 De certo os varões, que subiram do Egito, de vinte anos e para cima, não verão a terra que jurei a Abrão, a Isaque e a Jacó! porquanto não perseveraram em seguir-me;
12 Exceto Calebe, filho de Jefoné o quenezeu, e Josué, filho de Num, porquanto perseveraram em seguir o Senhor.
13 Assim se acendeu a ira do Senhor contra Israel, e fê-los andar errantes até que se consumiu toda aquela geração, que fizera mal aos olhos do Senhor.
14 E eis que vós, uma multidão de homens pecadores, vos levantastes em lugar de vossos pais para ainda mais acrescentar o ardor da ira do Senhor contra Israel.
15 Se vós vos virardes de segui-lo, também ele os deixará de novo no deserto, e destruireis a todo este povo.
16 Então chegaram a ele, e disseram: Edificaremos currais aqui para o nosso gado, e cidades para as nossas crianças;
17 Porém nós nos armaremos, apressando-nos diante dos de Israel, até que os levemos ao seu lugar: e ficarão as nossas crianças nas cidades fortes por causa dos moradores da terra.
18 Não voltaremos para nossas casas até que os filhos de Israel estejam de posse, cada um da sua herança.
19 Porque não herdaremos com eles dalém do Jordão, nem mais adiante; porquanto nós já teremos a nossa herança daquém do Jordão ao oriente.
20 Então moisés lhes disse: Se isto fizerdes assim, se vos armardes para a guerra perante o Senhor;
21 E cada um de vós armado passar o Jordão perante o Senhor, até que haja lançado fora os seus inimigos de diante dele:
22 E a terra esteja subjulgada perante o Senhor; então voltareis depois, e ficareis desculpado perante o Senhor e perante Israel: e esta terra vos será por possessão perante o Senhor:
23 E se não fizerdes assim, eis que pecastes contra o Senhor: porém sentireis o vosso pecado, quando vos achar.
24 Edificai vós cidades para as vossas crianças, e currais para as vossas ovelhas; e fazei o que saiu de vossa boca.
25 Então falaram os filhos de Gade, e os filhos de Rúben a Moisés, dizendo: Como ordena meu senhor, assim farão os teus servos.

17 Now therefore, slay the whole man among the children; and slayeth every woman that knoweth any man, and lieth with him.
18 But all the female children, who knew no man lying with him, let you live.
19 And ye shall dwell seven days without the camp: whosoever shall slay any person, and whosoever hath touched any dead, on the third day, and on the seventh day shall ye purify yourselves and your captives.
20 And thou shalt cleanse all the garments, and all the garments, and all the work of goats' hair, and all the vessels of wood.
21 And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of the war, that went forth to the battle: This is the statute of the law which the LORD commanded Moses.
22 But gold and silver, and copper, and iron, and tin, and lead;

24 And ye shall wash your garments on the seventh day, that ye may be clean: and afterward ye shall come into the camp.
