I Kings 8 Solomon speaks to the people

 I Kings 8

Solomon speaks to the people

12 Then Solomon said, The Lord said that he would dwell in darkness.
12 Surely I have built you a house to dwell in, a seat for your eternal dwelling.
14 Then the king turned his face, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood.
15 And he said, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who spoke by his mouth to David my father, and by his hand fulfilled him, saying:
16 From the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house to establish my name there, but I chose David to be ruler over my people Israel. .
17 David my father also had it in his heart to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
18 But the Lord said to David my father, Because you purposed in your heart to build an house for my name, you did well to purpose it in your heart.
19 Yet thou shalt not build this house: but thy son, which shall come out of thy loins, shall build this house for my name.
20 Thus the LORD confirmed his word which he had spoken; for I arose in the place of David my father, and sat on the throne of Israel, as the Lord had said, and I built a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
21 And make room there for the ark, in which is the covenant which the Lord made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
