II Samuel 05 David is made king of all Israel

 II Samuel 05

David is made king of all Israel

Then all the tribes of Israel came to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, Here we are, thy bones and thy flesh are we.

And also before, when Saul was still king over us, it was you that went out and went in with Israel; and also the LORD said unto thee, thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be chief over Israel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and anointed David king over Israel.

Thirty years old was David when he began to reign: forty years he reigned.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

And the king went with his men to Jerusalem, against the Jebusites that dwelt in that land, and that spake unto David, saying, Thou shalt not go in here, unless he cast out the blind and the lame; meaning: David shall not enter here.

But David took the stronghold of Zion: this is the city of David.

For David said in that day, Whoever smites the Jebusites, and comes to the channel, and to the lame and the blind, whom David's soul hates, shall be head and captain. That is why it is said: Neither blind nor lame will enter this house.

So David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David: and David built round about, from Milo even within.

And David went on and on and on, because the Lord God of hosts was with him.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar wood, and carpenters, and masons, which built for David an house.

And David understood that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people.
