II Samuel 04
Two servants of Ishbosheth kill him and bring David's head
When the son of Saul heard that Abner had died in Hebron, the hands were slack: and all Israel were amazed.
And the son of Saul had two men captains of troops: and it was the name of one Baena, and the name of the other Rehab, the sons of Rimon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin, because Beeroth also counted himself as Benjamin.
And the Beerotites had fled to Gitaim, and there they have sojourned to this day.
And Jonathan the son of Saul had a son lame on both his feet: he was five years old when the tidings of Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him, and fled: and it came to pass, that she hastened she running away, he fell; and he got lame; and his name was Mephibosheth.
And the children of Rimon the Beerothite, Rehab and Baena, went into the house of Ishbosheth in the heat of the day, while he was lying down to sleep at noon.
And there they went into the middle of the house, as if coming to take wheat, and smote him on the fifth rib: and Rehab and Baena his brother escaped.
Because they came into his house, while he was in bed, lying in his chamber, and they smote him and killed him, and cut off his head; and, taking his head, they walked all night along the plain.
And they brought the head of Ishbosheth to David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth, the son of thy enemy Saul, who sought thee for death: thus the LORD hath avenged the king today, my lord of Saul and of your seed.
But David answering Rehab and Baena his brother, the son of Rimon the Beerothite, said to them, As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul from all trouble,
For if to her that brought me tidings, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, but appearing to him that he was as one bringing good tidings, I immediately laid hand on him, and slew him in Shiklag; that gave him trouble;
How much more to wicked men, who slew a righteous man in his house, upon his bed: now would I not require his blood from your hands, and cut you off from the earth?
And David commanded his young men to slay them: and they cut off their feet and their hands, and hung them on the pool of Hebron: but they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.
