Samuel 16 Saul is tormented by the evil spirit

Samuel 16

Saul is tormented by the evil spirit

And the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord haunted him.

Then Saul's servants said to him, See, now an evil spirit from the Lord haunts you:

So tell our Lord to his servants, who are in your presence, to seek a man who knows how to play the harp, and it will be that when the evil spirit from the Lord comes on you, then he will touch you with his hand, and you will find it better.

Then Saul said to his servants, "Then seek me a man who touches well, and bring me back."

Then one of the young men answered and said, "Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse, the Belemite, who knows how to touch, and is brave and courageous, and a man of war, and serious in words, and of gentle presence: the Lord it's up to him.

And Saul sent messengers to Jesse, saying, Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.

Then Jesse took a donkey laden with bread, and a skin of wine, and a kid, and sent them to Saul by the hand of David his son.

So David came to Saul, and stood before him, and loved him very much, and was his page of arms.

Then Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David be before me, because he found grace in my eyes.

And it came to pass that when the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, David played the harp, and played it with his hand; then Saul felt relief, and felt better, and the evil spirit left him.
