Samuel 10
Samuel anoints Saul as king of Israel
Then Samuel took a vessel of oil, and poured it on his head, and kissed him, and said, Perhaps the Lord has not anointed you as captain over his estate?
Leaving me today, you will find two men at Rachel's grave, at the end of Benjamin, in Zelsa, who will say to you, The donkeys you went to find have found, and now your father has left the business of donkeys, and he is distressed because of you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
And when you pass from there, and arrive at Tabor's oak, three men will meet you there, who go up to God at Bethel: one carrying three kids, the other three bread cakes, and the other a wine skin.
And they will ask you how you are, and will give you two loaves of bread, which you will take from his hand.
Then you will come to the hill of God, where the Philistines' garrison is; and it must be that, entering the city there; you will find a ranch of prophets that descend from on high, and bring before them psalteries, and drums, and flutes, and harps; and they will prophesy.
And the spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them, and change yourself into another man.
And it must be that when these signs come to you, do whatever your hand finds, because God is with you.
But you will come down before me to Gilgal, and, behold, I will come down to you, to sacrifice burnt offerings, and to offer peace offerings there seven days, you shall wait until I come to you, and declare what you will do.
It happened, then, that when he turned his back to leave Samuel, God changed his heart in another: and all those signs happened that same day.
And when they came to the hill, behold, a ranch of prophets met them: and the spirit of the Lord came upon him, and prophesied among them.
And it came to pass that, as all those who knew him before, saw that, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, then said the people, each to his companion: What is it that happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
Then a man from there answered and said, For who is their father? So it became a proverb: Is Saul also among the prophets?
And when he had finished prophesying, he came on high.
And Saul's uncle said to him and to his boy, Where have you gone? And he said, Fetching the donkeys, and seeing that they were missing, we came to Samuel.
Then Saul's uncle said, "Tell me, I beg you, what did Samuel say to you?"
And Saul said to his uncle, He has indeed told us that the donkeys have found each other. But the business of the kingdom, of which Samuel had spoken, did not tell him.
