Samuel 10 The people choose Saul for their king

Samuel 10

The people choose Saul for their king

So Samuel called the people to the Lord in Mizpah.

And he said to the children of Israel, Thus said the Lord God of Israel: I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and I was saved from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you.

But today you have rejected your God, who has delivered you from all your woes and labors, and you have said to him: Put a king over us: now, therefore, stand before the Lord, for your tribes and for your thousands .

And when Samuel made all the tribes come, the tribe of Benjamin became.

And bringing the tribe of Benjamin by their families, Matri's family was taken: and Saul the son of Kish was taken from it; and sought him, but he was not found.

Then they asked the Lord again if that man was still coming. And the Lord said, Behold, he hid himself among the luggage.

And they ran and took him from there, and he stood among the people: and he was taller than all the people from the shoulder up.

Then Samuel said to all the people, Have you seen whom the Lord has chosen? For in all the people there is none like him. Then he rejoiced all the people, and they said, Long live the king!

And Samuel declared the right of the kingdom to the people, and wrote it in a book, and put it before the Lord: then he sent Samuel to all the people, each to his house.

And Saul also went to his house, to Gibeah: and those with whom the hearts God had touched went with him from the army.

But the sons of Belial said, Is this the one to deliver? And they despised him, and did not bring him gifts: but he was made deaf.
