The holy Sabbath and the two tables of testimony
12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
13 And thou speak to the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
14 Because you keep the sabbath, for it is holy to you: Everyone who profanes it shall surely die; because whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days may work be done, but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord; whatever on the Sabbath day do the work, he shall die.
16 guard for the Sabbath the children of Israel to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant.
17 Between me and the children of Israel is a sign forever: for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
18 And gave Moses (when finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai) the two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
