The redemption of the soul
11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
12 When thou shalt take the sum of the children of Israel, according to his account, each of them will give the Lord the redemption of his soul, when number them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.
13 This will give everyone who passes the enrollment: Half of a cycle, after the shekel of the sanctuary (this cycle is twenty alms): half of a cycle is the offering to the Lord.
14 Any who enter the enrollment of twenty years and above, shall give an offering to the Lord.
15 The rich will not increase, and the poor will not decrease midcycle, when they give unto the LORD, to make atonement for your souls.
16 And thou shalt take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and you shall give the service of the tabernacle of meeting; and will be a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord, to make atonement for your souls.
