God is praised for bringing back his people from captivity

1 When the Lord brought back the captivity of those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream.

2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing; then they said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for them."

3 The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad.

4 Bring us back from captivity, O Lord, like streams in the south.

5 Those who sow in tears will reap with joy.

6 He who goes forth and weeps, carrying precious seed, will doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

1 Quando o Senhor trouxe do cativeiro os que voltaram a Sião, estávamos como os que sonham.

2 Então a nossa boca se encheu de riso e a nossa língua de cânticos; então se dizia entre as nações: Grandes coisas fez o Senhor a estes.

3 Grandes coisas fez o Senhor por nós, e por isso estamos alegres.

4 Faze-nos regressar outra vez do cativeiro, Senhor; como as correntes no sul.

5 Os que semeiam em lágrimas segarão com alegria.

6 Aquele que leva a preciosa semente, andando e chorando, voltará sem dúvida com alegria, trazendo consigo os seus molhos.

4 हे यहोवा, उन लोगों का भला कर जो भले और सीधे मन के हैं।

5 जो लोग अपने टेढ़े-मेढ़े मार्गों पर चलते हैं, यहोवा उन्हें अधर्म करने वालों के साथ ले जाएगा; इस्राएल पर शांति होगी।

The Security of Those Who Trust in God

1 Those who trust in the Lord will be like Mount Zion, which cannot be removed but endures forever.

2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people from this time forth and forevermore.

3 For the scepter of wickedness will not rest on the lot of the righteous, lest the righteous stretch out their hands to iniquity.

4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good and upright in heart.

5 As for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, the Lord will lead them away with the workers of iniquity; peace will be upon Israel.

1 Os que confiam no Senhor serão como o monte de Sião, que não se abala, mas permanece para sempre.

2 Como estão os montes à roda de Jerusalém, assim o Senhor está em volta do seu povo desde agora e para sempre.

3 Porque o cetro da impiedade não permanecerá sobre a sorte dos justos, para que o justo não estenda as suas mãos à iniqüidade.

4 Faze bem, ó Senhor, aos bons e aos que são retos de coração.

5 Quando àqueles que se desviam para os seus caminhos tortuosos, leva-los-á o Senhor com os que obram a maldade: paz haverá sobre Israel.

Only God can deliver his people

1 If the Lord had not been on our side, let Israel say:

2 If the Lord had not been on our side when men rose up against us,

3 Then they would have swallowed us alive when their anger was kindled against us;

4 Then the waters would have overflowed us, and the flood would have gone over our soul;

5 Then the raging waters would have gone over our soul.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

God is the faithful guardian of his people

1I lift up my eyes to the hills: where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip; he who watches over you will not slumber.

4 Behold, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is your guardian; the Lord is your shade at your right hand.

6 The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm; he will preserve your life.
