Asa e o rei da Síria pelejam contra Baasa

1 No ano trigésimo sexto do reinado de Asa, Baasa, rei de Israel, subiu contra Judá e edificou a Ramá, para ninguém deixar sair nem entrar a Asa, rei de Judá.

2 Então tirou Asa a prata e o ouro dos tesouros da casa de Deus, e da casa do rei; e enviou Benadade, rei da Síria, que habitava em Damasco, dizendo:

3 Aliança há entre mim e ti, como houve entre meu pai e o teu: eis que te envio prata e ouro; vai pois e aniquila a tua aliança com Baasa, rei de Israel para que se retire de sobre mim.

4 E Benadade deu ouvidos ao rei Asa, e enviou os capitães dos exércitos que tinha,contra as cidades de Israel, e feriram a Ijom, e a Dã, e a Abelmaim; e a todas as cidades das munições de Naftali.

5 E sucedeu que, ouvindo-o Baasa, deixou de edificar a Ramá; e não continuou a sua obra.

6 Então o rei Asa tomou a todo o Judá e eles levaram as pedras de Ramá, e a sua madeira, com que Baasa edificara; e edificou com isto a Geba e a Mizpá.

7 Naquele mesmo tempo veio Hanani o vidente, a Asa rei de Judá, e disse-lhe: Porquanto confiaste no rei da Síria, e não confiaste no Senhor teu Deus, portanto o exército do rei da Síria escapou da tua mão.

8 Porventura não foram os etíopes e os líbios um grande exército, com muitíssimo carros e cavaleiros? Confiando tu porém no Senhor, ele os entregou nas tuas mãos.

9 Porque, quanto ao Senhor, seus olhos passam por toda a terra, para mostrar-se forte para aqueles cujo coração é perfeito para com ele; nisto pois procedeste loucamente porque desde agora haverá guerras contra ti.

10 Porém Asa se indignou contra o vidente, e lançou-o na casa do tronco; porque disto grandemente se alterou contra ele: também Asa no mesmo tempo oprimiu a alguns do povo.

11 E eis que os sucessos de Asa, tanto os primeiros como os últimos, estão escritos no livro dos reis de Judá e Israel.

12 E caiu Asa doente de seus pés no ano trinta e nove do seu reinado: grande por extremo era a sua enfermidade, e contudo na sua enfermidade não buscou ao Senhor, mas antes aos médicos.

13 E Asa dormiu com seus pais; e morreu no ano quarenta e um do seu reinado.

14 E o sepultaram no seu sepulcro, que tinha cavado para si na cidade de Davi, havendo-o deitado na cama, que se enchera de cheiros e especiarias preparadas segundo a arte dos perfumistas: e fizeram-lhe queima mui grande.

1 तब परमेश्वर का आत्मा ओबेद के पुत्र अजर्याह पर उतरा।

2 और वह आसा से भेंट करने को निकला, और उस से कहा, हे आसा, हे सब यहूदा और बिन्यामीन, मेरी सुनो; जब तक तुम यहोवा के संग हो तब तक वह तुम्हारे संग रहेगा, और यदि तुम उसकी खोज करोगे, तो उसे पाओगे; परन्तु यदि तुम उसे छोड़ोगे, तो वह तुम्हें छोड़ देगा।

3 और इस्राएल बहुत दिन तक सच्चे परमेश्वर से रहित, और उसे सिखानेवाला याजक और व्यवस्था से रहित रहा।

4 परन्तु जब वे संकट में पड़कर इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा की ओर फिरे, और उसे ढूंढ़ा, तब उसे मिला।

5 और उन दिनों में न तो बाहर जानेवाले को और न भीतर आनेवाले को शान्ति मिलती थी, वरन उन देशोंके सब रहनेवालोंपर बहुत विपत्तियां आ पड़ीं।

6 क्योंकि एक मनुष्य से एक मनुष्य, और एक नगर से एक नगर, वे टुकड़े-टुकड़े हो गए; क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने उनको उनके सारे संकट से व्याकुल किया।

7 परन्तु हियाव बान्धो, और अपने हाथ ढीले न होने दो; क्योंकि तुम्हारे काम का फल है।

8 जब आसा ने ये बातें और ओबेद के पुत्र भविष्यद्वक्ता की भविष्यद्वाणी सुनी, तब उस ने यत्न करके यहूदा और बिन्यामीन के सारे देश में से, और जो नगर उस ने एप्रैम के पहाड़ी देश में ले लिए थे उन में से घृणित वस्तुएं दूर कीं; और यहोवा की जो वेदी यहोवा के ओसारे के साम्हने थी उसको उसने नया बनाया।

9 और उस ने सारे यहूदा और बिन्यामीन को, और उनके साय एप्रैम, मनश्शे, और शिमोन के परदेशियोंको इकट्ठा किया; क्योंकि यह देखकर कि उसका परमेश्वर यहोवा उसके संग रहता है, इस्राएल से बड़ी भीड़ उसके पास आने लगी।

10 और तीसरे महीने में वे यरूशलेम में इकट्ठे हुए; आसा के राज्य के दसवें वर्ष में।

13 और छोटे से लेकर बड़े तक, और पुरूष से लेकर नारी तक, जो कोई इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा की खोज नहीं करता, वह सब मर जाएगा।

14 और उन्होंने ऊंचे शब्द से, आनन्द से, तुरहियां और नरसिंगे बजाते हुए यहोवा की शपथ खाई।

15 और इस शपथ से सारा यहूदी आनन्दित हुआ; क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने सारे मन से शपथ खाई, और अपनी सारी इच्छा से उसको ढूंढ़ा, और उसे पाया; और यहोवा ने उनको चारोंओर से विश्रम दिया।

Asa Abolishes Idolatry and Renews the Lord's Covenant

1 Then the Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Obed.

2 And he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The Lord is with you while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will be forsaken you."

3 And Israel was many days without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

4 But when in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found.

5 And in those days there was no peace for him who went out or for him who came in, but great disturbances for all the inhabitants of the land.

6 For nation was broken against nation, and city against city, for God had troubled them with all their distress. 

7 But be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work will be rewarded.

8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of the prophet the son of Obed, he took courage and removed the abominations from all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He also repaired the altar of the Lord that was before the porch of the Lord.

9 He gathered all Judah and Benjamin together, and with them the strangers from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, for there were very many people coming to him from Israel, because they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

10 They assembled at Jerusalem in the third month, in the tenth year of the reign of Asa.

11 On that same day they offered a sacrifice to the Lord of the spoil that they had brought: six hundred oxen and six thousand sheep.

12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul; 

13 And that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, from the least to the greatest, from man to woman. 

14 And they swore to the Lord with a loud voice, with shouting, and with trumpets and cornets. 

15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and with all their will they sought him, and they found him: and the Lord gave them rest round about. 

16 And he also deposed Maacah the mother of King Asa, so that she was no longer queen; because she had made an abominable idol for the Asherah; and Asa destroyed her abominable idol, and broke it in pieces, and burned it at the Kidron Valley. 

17 But the high places were not removed from Israel; yet Asa's heart was perfect all his days.

18 And he brought the things that his father had dedicated, and the things that he himself had dedicated to the house of God, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 And there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.

1 Então veio o Espírito de Deus sobre Azarias, filho de Obede.

2 E saiu ao encontro de Asa, e disse-lhe: Ouvi-me, Asa, e todo o Judá e Benjamim: O Senhor está convosco, enquanto vós estais com ele, e, se o buscardes, o achareis; porém, se o deixardes, vós deixará.

3 E Israel esteve por muitos dias sem o verdadeiro Deus, e sem sacerdote que o ensinasse, e sem lei.

4 Mas quando na sua angústia se convertiam ao Senhor, Deus de Israel, e o buscavam, o achavam.

5 E naqueles tempos não havia paz nem para o que saía, nem para o que entrava, mas muitas perturbações sobre todos os habitantes daquelas terras.

6 Porque gente contra gente, e cidade contra cidade se despedaçavam; porque Deus os conturbara com toda a angústia.

7 Mas esforçai-vos, e não desfaleçam as vossas mãos; porque a vossa obra tem uma recompensa.

8 Ouvindo pois Asa estas palavras, e a profecia do profeta, filho de Obede, esforçou-se, e tirou as abominações de toda a terra de Judá e de Benjamim, como também das cidades que tomara nas montanhas de Efraim: e renovou o altar do Senhor, que estava diante do pórtico do Senhor.

9 E ajuntou a todo Judá, e Benjamim, e com eles os estrangeiros de Efraim e Manassés, e de Simeão; porque de Israel vinham a ele mui grande número, vendo que o Senhor seu Deus era com ele.

10 E ajuntaram-se em Jerusalém no terceiro mês; no ano decimo do reinado de Asa.

11 E no mesmo dia ofereceram em sacrifício ao Senhor, do despojo que trouxeram, seiscentos bois e seis mil ovelhas.

12 E entraram no concerto de buscarem o Senhor, Deus de seus pais, com todo o seu coração, e com toda a sua alma;

13 E de que todo aquele que não buscasse ao Senhor, Deus de Israel, morresse, desde o menor até o maior, e desde homem até à mulher.

14 E juraram ao Senhor, em alta voz, com júbilo e com trombetas e buzinas.

15 E todo o Judá se alegrou deste juramento; porque com todo o seu coração juraram, e com toda a sua vontade o buscaram, e o acharam: e o Senhor lhes deu repouso em redor.

16 E também a Maaca, mãe do rei Asa, ele a depôs, para que não fosse mais rainha; porquanto fizera a Asera um horrível ídolo; e Asa destruiu o seu horrível ídolo, e o despedaçou, e o queimou junto ao ribeiro de Cedron.

17 Os altos porém não se tiraram de Israel; contudo o coração de Asa foi perfeito todos os seus dias.

18 E trouxe as coisas que tinha consagrado seu pai, e as coisas que ele mesmo tinha consagrado à casa de Deus: prata, e ouro, e vasos.

19 E não houve guerra até ao ano trigésimo quinto do reinado de Asa.

Asa Reigns and Defeats Zerah the Ethiopian

1 Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days the land had peace for ten years.

2 Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.

3 He took away the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, broke down the sacred stones, and cut down the Asherah poles.

4 He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to keep the law and the commandment.

5 He also took away the high places and the images of the sun from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet before him.

6 He built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest, and there was no war against him in those years, because the LORD had given him rest.

7 Then he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars, while the land is still before us, for we seek the LORD our God; we sought him, and he has given us rest all around." They built and prospered.

 8 Now Asa had an army of three hundred thousand from Judah who carried shields and spears, and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin who carried shields and drew bows; all these were valiant men. 

9 Then Zerah the Ethiopian went out against them with an army of a thousand thousand and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah. 

10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah, near Mareshah. 

11 Then Asa cried out to the LORD his God and said, "Lord, there is no help for you, whether the mighty or the weak; help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you, and in your name we come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let no man prevail against you.

12 And the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

13 And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them as far as Gerar, and so many of the Ethiopians fell that there was no strength left in them; for they were defeated before the Lord and before his army, and they took away from there very much spoil.

14 And they attacked all the cities around Gerar, for the terror of the Lord was upon them; and they plundered all the cities, because there was much spoil in them.

15 They also attacked the cattle pens, and took away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.

1 E Abias dormiu com seus pais e o sepultaram na cidade de Davi; e Asa, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar: nos seus dias esteve a terra em paz dez anos.

2 E Asa fez o que era bom e reto aos olhos do Senhor seu Deus.

3 Porque tirou os altares dos deuses estranhos, e os altos: e quebrou as estátuas, e cortou os bosques.

4 E mandou a Judá que buscassem ao Senhor Deus de seus pais, e que observassem a lei e o mandamento.

5 Também tirou de todas as cidades de Judá os altos e as imagens do sol: e o reino esteve quieto diante dele.

6 E edificou cidades fortes em Judá: porque a terra estava quieta, e não havia guerra contra ele naqueles anos; porquanto o Senhor lhe dera repouso.

7 Disse pois a Judá: Edifiquemos estas cidades, e cerquemo-las de muros e torres, portas e ferrolhos, enquanto a terra ainda está quieta diante de nós, pois buscamos ao Senhor nosso Deus; buscamo-lo, e deu-nos repouso em redor. Edificaram e prosperaram.

8 Tinha pois Asa um exército de trezentos mil de Judá, que traziam pavês e lança; e duzentos e oitenta mil de Benjamim, que traziam escudo e atiravam de arco: todos estes eram varões valentes.

9 E Zerá, o etíope, saiu contra eles, com um exército de mil milhares, e trezentos carros, e chegou ate Maresa.

10 Então Asa saiu contra ele: e ordenaram a batalha no vale de Zefatá, junto a Maresa.

11 E Asa clamou ao Senhor seu Deus, e disse: Senhor, nada para ti é ajudar, quer o poderoso quer o de nenhuma força; ajuda-nos pois Senhor nosso Deus, porque em ti confiamos, e no teu nome viemos contra esta multidão: Senhor, tu és nosso Deus, não prevaleça contra ti o homem.

12 E o Senhor feriu os etíopes diante de Asa e diante de Judá: e fugiram os etíopes.

13 E Asa e o povo que estava com ele os perseguiram até Gerar, e caíram tantos dos etíopes, que já não havia neles vigor algum; porque foram quebrantados diante do Senhor, e diante do seu exército: e levaram dali mui grande despojo.

14 E feriram todas as cidades nos arredores de Gerar; porque terror do Senhor estava sobre eles: e saquearam todas as cidades, porque havia nelas muita presa.

15 Também feriram as malhadas do gado; e levaram ovelhas em abundância, e camelos, e voltaram para Jerusalém.

6 परन्तु नबात का पुत्र यारोबाम जो दाऊद के पुत्र सुलैमान का दास या, उठकर अपके स्वामी से बलवा करने लगा;

7 और पराये लोग अर्थात पराये लोग उसके पास इकट्ठे हो गए; और उन्होंने सुलैमान के पुत्र रहूबियाम के विरूद्ध अपने आप को दृढ़ कर लिया, जबकि रहूबियाम अभी छोटा और कोमल मन का था, और उनका साम्हना न कर सका।

8 और अब तुम यहोवा के राज्य के विरुद्ध लड़ने में चौकसी करते हो, जो दाऊद की सन्तान के हाथ में है; तुम एक बड़ी भीड़ हो, और तुम्हारे पास सोने के बछड़े हैं, जिन्हें यारोबाम ने तुम्हारे लिये देवताओं के समान बनाकर बनाया है।

9 क्या तुम ने यहोवा के याजकोंअर्थात् हारून की सन्तान और लेवियोंको निकाल नहीं दिया, और परदेश के लोगोंकी नाईं अपने लिथे याजक न नियुक्त कर लिया? जो कोई बैल और सात मेढ़ों के साथ अपने आप को पवित्र करने आता है, वह शीघ्र ही उन लोगों का याजक बन जाता है जो देवता नहीं हैं।

10 परन्तु यहोवा हमारा परमेश्वर है, और हम ने उसे कभी नहीं त्यागा; और जो याजक यहोवा की सेवा टहल करते हैं वे हारून की सन्तान हैं, और लेवीय उसी के काम में लगे रहते हैं।

11 और वे प्रति भोर और सांझ को यहोवा के लिये होमबलि और सुगन्धित धूप जलाते, और शुद्ध मेज़ पर रोटी सजाकर, और सांझ को सोने की दीवट और उसके दीपक जलाते थे, क्योंकि हम अपके परमेश्वर यहोवा की सेवा का ध्यान रखते हैं; परन्तु तुमने उसे छोड़ दिया।

12 और देखो, हे इस्त्राएलियों, परमेश्वर हमारे आगे आगे है, और उसके याजक तुम्हारे विरूद्ध ललकारने के लिथे नरसिंगे फूंक रहे हैं; अपने पितरों के परमेश्वर यहोवा से मत लड़ो; क्योंकि तुम समृद्ध नहीं होगे।

1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam Abijah reigned over Israel.

2 He reigned in Jerusalem three years; and his mother's name was Milcaiah, the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3 And Abijah put in array for battle with an army of warlike men, four hundred thousand chosen men; and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, all of them valiant men.

4 Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, "Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel!

5 Should you not know that the LORD, the God of Israel, gave the kingship over Israel to David forever, to him and to his sons, by a covenant of salt? 

6 But Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master. 

7 And base men, the sons of Belial, gathered themselves to him, and strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, while Rehoboam was still young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them. 

8 And now you intend to fight against the kingdom of the Lord, which is in the hand of the sons of David; indeed you are a great multitude, and you have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods. 

9 Have you not driven out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves, as the people of other lands do? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a bullock and seven rams immediately becomes a priest of those who are no gods. 

10 But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken Him. The priests who minister to the Lord are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites are at their service.

11 They burn burnt offerings to the Lord morning and evening, and sweet incense, and they set out the showbread on the pure table, and the golden lampstand and its lamps to be lit every evening, for we have kept the service of the Lord our God; but you have forsaken Him.

12 And behold, God is with us in front, and His priests blowing the trumpets to give an alarm against you, O children of Israel. Do not fight against the Lord, the God of your fathers, for you will not prosper.

13 But Jeroboam set an ambush around them to attack them from behind, so that they were in front of Judah, and the ambush was behind them. 

14 Then Judah looked, and behold, the battle was before and behind them. Then they cried out to the Lord, and the priests blew the trumpets.

15 And the men of Judah shouted: and it came to pass, when the men of Judah shouted, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. ​​

1 Now it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had become strong, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

2 So it came to pass in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD.

3 With twelve hundred chariots, and with sixty thousand horsemen; and the multitude that came with him out of Egypt, of the Libyans, the Sukkites, and the Ethiopians, were innumerable.

4 And he took the fenced cities that Judah had, and came to Jerusalem.

5 Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together in Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me; therefore I have also forsaken you into the hand of Shishak.

6 Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The Lord is righteous.”

7 When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: “They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them; but I will quickly give them a place to escape, so that My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

12 And when he humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him, that he should not utterly destroy him: for there were good things in Judah. ​​

13 And King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned. 1 So Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, and gathered together from the house of Judah and Benjamin one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, skilled in war, to fight against Israel, and to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.

2 But the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

3 Speak to Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

4 Thus says the Lord: You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren; return every man to his house; for this thing proceedeth from me. And they hearkened to the words of the Lord, and turned back from going against Jeroboam.

5 And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities fortified cities in Judah.

 ​​6 And he built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa, 

7 And Beth-zur, and Socoh, and Adullam, 

8 And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph, 

9 And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
