1 Ouvindo pois o filho de Saul que Abner morrera em Hebrom, as mãos se afrouxaram: e todo o Israel pasmou.

2 E tinha o filho de Saul dois homens capitães de tropas: e era o nome de um Baena, e o nome do outro Recabe, filhos de Rimom, o beerotita, dos filhos de Benjamim, porque também Beerote se reputava de Benjamim.

3  E tinham fugido os beerotitas para Gitaim, e ali têm peregrinado até ao dia de hoje.

4 E Jônatas, filho de Saul, tinha um filho aleijado de ambos os pés: era da idade de cinco anos quando as novas de Saul e Jônatas vieram de Jezreel, e sua ama o tomou, e fugiu: e sucedeu que, apressando-se ela a fugir, ele caiu;  e ficou coxo; e o seu nome era Mefibosete.

5 E foram os filhos de Rimom, o beerotita, Recabe e Baena, e entraram em casa de Isbosete no maior calor do dia, estando ele deitado a dormir, ao meio-dia.

6 E ali entraram até ao meio da casa, como que vindo tomar trigo, e o feriram na quinta costela: e Recabe e Baena, seu irmão escaparam.

7 Porque entraram na sua casa, estando ele na cama deitado na sua recâmara, e o feriram e o mataram, e lhe cortaram a cabeça; e, tomando a sua cabeça, andaram toda a noite caminhando pela planície.

8 E trouxeram a cabeça de Isbosete a Davi, a Hebrom, e disseram ao rei: Eis aqui a cabeça de Isbosete, filho de Saul teu inimigo, que te procurava a morte: assim o Senhor vingou hoje ao rei meu senhor de Saul e da sua semente.

9 Porém Davi, respondendo a Recabe e a Baena, seu irmão, filho de Rimom, o beerotita, disse-lhes: Vive o Senhor que remiu a minha alma de toda a angústia,

10 Pois se àquela que me trouxe novas, dizendo: Eis que Saul morto é, parecendo-lhe porém aos seus olhos que era como quem trazia boas-novas, eu logo lancei mão dele, e o matei em Siclague, cuidando ele que eu por isso lhe desse alvíçaras;

11 Quanto mais a ímpios homens, que mataram um homem justo em sua casa, sobre a sua cama: agora pois não requereria eu o seu sangue de vossas mãos, e não vos exterminaria da terra?

12 E deu Davi ordem aos seus mancebos que os matassem: e cortaram-lhes os pés e as mãos, e os penduraram sobre o tanque de Hebrom: tomaram porém a cabeça de Isbosete, e a sepultaram na sepultura de Abner, em Hebrom.

33 और राजा ने अब्नेर से रोते हुए कहा, अब्नेर मरा नहीं; खलनायक कैसे मरता है?

34 न तो तुम्हारे हाथ बंधे हुए थे, और न ही तुम्हारे पांव पीतल की बेड़ियों से लदे हुए थे, परन्तु तुम उन लोगों की नाईं गिर पड़े, जो अधर्मियों के साम्हने गिरते हैं! इसलिए सब लोग उसके लिए और भी रोए।

35 तब सब लोग दाऊद को रोटी खिलाने के लिथे आए, और दिन हो गया, परन्तु दाऊद ने शपय खाकर कहा, कि परमेश्वर मेरे लिथे ऐसा ही करे, वरन यदि सूर्य अस्त होने से पहिले मैं रोटी वा कुछ चखूं तो और भी बहुत कुछ।

36 जो कुछ लोग समझते थे, वह उनकी दृष्टि में अच्छा जान पड़ता था, जैसा कि राजा ने जो कुछ किया, वह सब लोगों को अच्छा लगा।

37 और सब लोग और सब इस्राएल उस समय समझ गए, कि नेर के पुत्र अब्नेर को घात करना राजा की ओर से नहीं।

31 And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Tear off your garments; and gird yourselves with sacks and go weeping before Abner. And King David is following the coffin.

32 And burying Abner in Hebron, the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.

33 And the king, weeping to Abner, said, Abner is not dead; how does the villain die?

34 Your hands were not bound, nor your feet laden with shackles of brass, but you fell as those who fall before the children of iniquity! So all the people cried a lot more for him.

35 Then all the people came to make David eat bread, and it was still day, but David swore, saying, So do God for me, and so much more, if, before the sun goes down, I taste bread or something.

36 What the people understood, seemed good in their eyes, just as all that the king did, seemed good in the eyes of all the people.

37 And all the people and all Israel understood in that day that it was not of the king that they should slay Abner the son of Ner.

38 Then said the king to his servants, Know ye not that a prince and a great one have fallen in Israel this day?

39 That I am yet tender, though anointed king; these men, sons of Zeruiah, are harder than I: the Lord will pay the wrongdoer according to his wickedness.

31 Disse pois Davi a Joabe, e a todo o povo que com ele estava: Rasgai os vossos vestidos; e cingí-vos de sacos e ide pranteando diante de Abner. E o rei Davi is seguindo o féretro.

32 E, sepultando a Abner em Hebrom, o rei levantou sua voz, e chorou junto da sepultura de Abner; e chorou todo o povo.

33 E o rei, pranteando a Abner, disse: Não morreu Abner; como morre o vilão?

34 As tuas mãos não estavam atadas, nem os teus pés carregados de grilhões de bronze, mas caíste como os que caem diante dos filhos da maldade! Então todo o povo chorou muito mais por ele.

35 Então todo o povo veio fazer que Davi comesse pão, sendo ainda dia, porém Davi jurou, dizendo: Assim Deus me faça, e outro tanto, se, antes que o sol se ponha, eu provar pão ou alguma coisa.

36 O que o povo entendendo, pareceu bem aos seus olhos, assim como tudo quanto o rei fez pareceu  bem aos olhos de todo o povo.

37 E todo o povo e todo o Israel entenderam naquele mesmo dia que não procedera do rei que matassem a Abner, filho de Ner.

38 Então disse o rei aos seus servos: Não sabeis que hoje caiu em Israel um príncipe e um grande?

39 Que eu ainda sou tenro, ainda  que ungido rei; estes homens, filhos de Zeruia, são mais duros do que eu: o Senhor pagará ao malfeitor, conforme a sua maldade.

22 And behold, the servants of David and Joab came out of an assortment, and brought with them great spoil; and Abner was no longer with David in Hebron, for he had sent him away, and gone in peace.

23 When Joab and all the army that came with him came, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner is come to the king; and he sent him away, and went away in peace.

24 Then Joab went in to the king, and said, What have you done? behold, Abner came to you; why then did you dismiss, so that it went away freely?

25 You know well Abner the son of Ner, who came to deceive you, and know your going out and your going in, and understand all that you do.

26 And Joab, departing from David, sent messengers after Abner, and they brought him back from the well of Sira, without David knowing it.

27 So when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him by himself at the entrance to the gate, to speak to him in secret, and smote him there by the fifth rib, and he died for the blood of his brother Asahel.

28 Whereupon David heard that, he said, I am innocent, and my kingdom, to the LORD for ever, from the blood of Abner the son of Ner.

29 Let him be over Joab's head, and over all his father's house, and let no one lacking in the house of Joab, nor a leper, nor falling by the sword, nor anyone needing bread.

30 So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel in the battle at Gibeon.

23 Chegando pois Joabe, e todo o exército que vinha com ele, deram aviso a Joabe, dizendo: Abner, filho de Ner, veio ao rei; e o despediu, e foi-se em paz.

24 Então Joabe entrou ao rei, e disse: Que fizeste? eis que Abner veio ter contigo; por que pois despediste, de maneira que se fosse livremente?

25 Bem conheces a Abner, filho de Ner, que te veio enganar, e saber a tua saída e a tua entrada, e entender tudo quanto fazes.

26 E Joabe, retirando-se de Davi, enviou mensageiros atrás de Abner, e o fizeram voltar desde o poço de Sira, sem que Davi o soubesse.

27 Tornando pois Abner a Hebrom, Joabe o tomou à parte, à entrada da porta, para lhe falar em segredo, e feriu-o ali pela quinta costela, e morreu, por causa do sangue de Asael seu irmão.

28 O que Davi depois ouvindo, disse: Inocente sou eu, e o meu reino, para com o Senhor, para sempre, do sangue de Abner, filho de Ner.

29 Fique-se sobre a cabeça de Joabe e sobre toda a casa de seu pai, e nunca da casa de Joabe falte quem tenha fluxo, nem que seja leproso, nem quem caia à espada, nem quem necessite de pão.

30 Joabe pois e Abisai, seu irmão, mataram a Abner, por ter morto a Asael, seu irmão na peleja em Gibeom.

7 And Saul had had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah the daughter of Ahiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Why hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?

8 Then was Abner very angry at the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I the head of a dog, that I belong to Judah? Even today I do benevolence to the house of Saul, your father, his brothers, and his friends, and I have not delivered you into the hands of David, and today you seek reason to plead with me because of the wickedness of a woman.

9 So may God do to Abner, and so do the same, as the Lord has sworn to David, so I will do to him.

10 Transferring the kingdom from the house of Saul, and raising up the throne of David over Israel, and over Judah, from Dan to Beersheba.

11 And not even a word could Abner answer: for he feared him.

12 Then Abner commanded messengers of his own to be sent to David, saying, Whose land is it? And he said, Make thy covenant with me, and, behold, mine hand shall be with thee, to return all Israel to thee.

13 And David said, Well, I will make a covenant with thee, but I pray thee one thing, which is, thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring me Michal the daughter of Saul, when thou come to see my face.

14 And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, saying, Give me my wife Michal, whom I have espoused for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.

15 And he sent Ishbosheth, and took her to her husband, to Faltiel the son of Laish.

16 And her husband went with her, walking, and weeping after her, to Bahurim. Then Abner said to him: Go now, come back. And he came back.

17 And Abner practiced with the elders of Israel, saying, It has been long since you have sought that David should reign over you;

18 Do it now therefore, for the LORD spake unto David, saying, By the hand of David my servant I will deliver my people out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.

19 And Abner also spake the same in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to say in the ears of David in Hebron all that was good in the eyes of Israel, and in the eyes of all the house of Benjamin.

20 And Abner came to David, to Hebron, and twenty men with him: and David made a feast for Abner and the men that came with him.

21 And Abner said to David, I will arise, and go, and gather all Israel to my lord the king, to make a covenant with thee; and thou shalt reign over all that thy soul desires. So David sent Abner away, and he departed in peace.

9 Assim faça Deus a Abner, e outro tanto, que como o Senhor jurou a Davi assim lhe hei de fazer.

10 Transferindo o reino da casa de Saul, e levantando o trono de Davi sobre Israel, e sobre Judá, desde Dã até Berseba.

11 E nem ainda uma palavra podia responder Abner: porque o temia.

12 Então ordenou Abner da sua parte mensageiros a Davi, dizendo: De quem é a terra? E disse: Comigo faze a tua aliança, e eis que a minha mão será contigo, para tornar a ti todo o Israel.

13 E disse Davi: Bem, eu farei contigo aliança, porém uma coisa te peço, que é: não verás a minha face se primeiro me não trouxeres a Mical, filha de Saul, quando vieres ver a minha face.

14 Também enviou Davi mensageiros a Isbosete, filho de Saul, dizendo: Dá-me minha mulher Mical, que eu desposei por cem prepúcios de filisteus.

15 E enviou Isbosete, e a tirou a seu marido, a Faltiel, filho de Laís.

16 E ia com ela seu marido, caminhando, e chorando atrás dela, até Baurim. Então lhe disse Abner: Vai-te agora, volta. E ele voltou.

17 E praticava Abner com os anciãos de Israel, dizendo: Muito tempo há que procuráveis que Davi reinasse sobre vós;

18 Fazei-o pois agora, porque o Senhor falou a Davi, dizendo: Pela mão de Davi meu servo livrarei o meu povo das mãos dos filisteus e das mãos de todos os seus inimigos.

19 E falou também Abner o mesmo aos ouvidos de Benjamim: e foi também Abner dizer aos ouvidos de Davi, em Hebrom, tudo o que era bom aos olhos de Israel e aos olhos de toda a casa de Benjamim.

20 E veio Abner a Davi, a Hebrom e vinte homens com ele: e Davi fez um banquete a Abner e aos homens que com ele vinham.

21 Então disse Abner a Davi: Eu me levantarei, e irei, e ajuntarei ao rei meu senhor todo o Israel, para fazerem aliança contigo; e tu reinarás sobre tudo o que desejar a tua alma. Assim despediu Davi a Abner, e foi-se ele em paz.

23 परन्तु यदि वह भटकना न चाहे, तो अब्नेर ने उसे भाले की लम्बाई से पांचवीं पसली तक मारा, और भाला उसके पीछे से निकल गया, और वह वहीं गिर पड़ा, और उसी स्थान पर मर गया; और ऐसा हुआ कि जितने उस स्थान पर आए जहां असाएल गिरकर मर गया, वे सब रुक गए।

13 And Joab the son of Zeruiah and the servants of David went out and met one another by the pool of Gibeon: and these stood on this side of the pool, and the others on that side of the pool.

14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men lift up, and let them play before us. And Joab said, Arise.

15 And they rose up and passed over by account twelve of Benjamin, from Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.

16 And each one took hold of the other's head, thrust a sword into his side, and they fell together: whence was the name of that place Helkath-hazurim which is by Gibeon.

17 And a bitter battle ensued that day: but Abner and the men of Israel were smitten before the servants of David.

18 And there were the three sons of Zeruiah, Joab, Abishai, and Asahel; and Asael was light of foot, like one of the wild goats in the field.

19 And Asael followed after Abner: and he declined from behind Abner, neither to the right nor to the left.

20 And Abner, looking back, said, Art thou Asael? And he said: I am.

21 And Abner said to him, Turn to the right, or to the left, and take hold of one of the young men, and take his spoil. But Asael did not want to deviate from behind him.

22 Then Abner said again to Asael, Turn away from behind me; why should I hurt you and find myself on the ground? and how would I lift up my face before your brother Joab?

23 But if he would not go astray, Abner smote him with the length of the spear through the fifth rib, and the spear went out from behind him, and he fell there, and died in that very place: and it came to pass that all that came to the place where Asael he fell and died, they stopped.

24 But Joab and Abishai followed after Abner; and the sun went down, and they came to the hill of Ama, which is before Giah, by the way of the desert of Gibeon.

25 And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together behind Abner, and made a battalion, and stood on the top of the hill.

26 Then Abner cried to Joab, and said, Shall he consume the sword for ever? do you not know that at last there will be bitterness? and how long will you not tell the people to stop following their brethren?

27 And Joab said, As God lives, if he had not spoken from the morning, the people would have ceased every one from following his brother.

28 Then Joab blew the horn, and all the people stood still, and pursued Israel no more: and fought no more.

29 And Abner and his men walked all that night on the plain; and passing over Jordan, they walked through all Bithron, and came to Mahanaim.

30 And Joab turned back from following Abner, and gathered all the people together: and the servants of David lacked nineteen men and Asahel.

31 But David's servants slew from among Benjamin, and from among the men of Abner, three hundred and sixty men, who were slain there.

32 And they raised up Asahel, and buried him in the tomb of his father which was in Bethlehem: and Joab and his men walked all that night, and it dawned upon them in Hebron.

14 E disse Abner a Joabe: Deixa levantar os mancebos, e joguem diante de nós. E disse Joabe: Levantem-se.

15  Então se levantaram e passaram, por conta, doze de Benjamim, da parte de Isbosete, filho de Saul, e doze dos servos de Davi.

16 E cada um lançou mão da cabeça do outro, meteu-lhe a espada pela ilharga, e caíram juntamente: donde se chamou àquele lugar Helcate-Hazurim que está junto a Gibeom.

17 E seguiu-se naquele dia uma crua peleja: porém Abner e os homens de Israel foram feridos diante dos servos de Davi.

18 E estavam ali os três filhos de Zeruia, Joabe, Abisai, e Asael; e Asael era ligeiro de pés, como uma das cabras monteses que há no campo.

19 E Asael seguiu após Abner: e não declinou de detrás de Abner, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda.

20 E Abner, olhando para trás, disse: És tu Asael? E disse ele: Eu sou.

21 Então lhe disse Abner: Desvia-te para a direita, ou para a esquerda e lança mão de um dos mancebos, e toma os seus despojos. Porém Asael não quis desviar-se de detrás dele.

22 Então Abner tornou a dizer a Asael: Desvia-te de detrás de mim; por que hei de eu ferir-te e dar comigo em terra? e como levantaria eu o meu rosto diante de Joabe teu irmão?

23 Porém, não se querendo ele desviar, Abner o feriu com o conto da lança pela quinta costela, e a lança lhe saiu por detrás, e caiu ali, e morreu naquele mesmo lugar: e sucedeu que todos os que chegavam ao lugar onde Asael caiu e morreu, paravam.

24 Porém Joabe e Abisai seguiram após Abner; e pôs-se o sol, chegando eles ao outeiro de Amá, que esta diante de Giá, junto ao caminho do deserto de Gibeom.

25 E os filhos de Benjamim se ajuntaram detrás de Abner, e fizeram um batalhão, e puseram-se no cume do outeiro.

26 Então Abner gritou a Joabe, e disse: Consumirá a espada para sempre? não sabes tu que por fim haverá amargura? e até quando não hás de dizer ao povo que deixe de seguir a seus irmãos?

27 E disse Joabe: Vive Deus, que, se não tivesse falado já desde pela manhã o povo teria cessado cada um de seguir a seu irmão.

28 Então Joabe tocou a buzina, e todo o povo parou, e não perseguiram mais a Israel: e tão pouco pelejaram mais.

29 E caminharam Abner e os seus homens toda aquela noite pela planície; e, passando o Jordão, caminharam por todo o Bitrom, e vieram a Maanaim.

30 Também Joabe se tornou de seguir Abner, e ajuntou todo o povo: e dos servos de Davi faltaram dezenove homens e Asael.

31 Porém os servos de Davi feriram dentre os de Benjamim, e dentre os homens de Abner, a trezentos e sessenta homens, que ali ficaram mortos.

32 E levantaram a Asael, e sepultaram-no na sepultura de seu pai, que estava em Belém: e Joabe e seus homens caminharam toda aquela noite, e amanheceu-lhes em Hebrom.

10 Forty years old was Ishbosheth the son of Saul, when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years: but those of the house of Judah followed David.

11 And it was the number of days that David reigned in Hebron over the house of Judah, seven years and six months.
