Joshua 24 Joshua does, again, concert with the people

Joshua 24

Joshua does, again, concert with the people

Now therefore, fear the Lord, and serve him with sincerity and truth: and cast out the gods whom your fathers served beyond the river and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

However, if it seems bad in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose today whom you serve: whether the gods whom your fathers served, who were beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but me and we will serve the Lord in my house.

Then the people answered and said, Never let it happen to us that we leave the Lord to serve other gods;

For the Lord is our God; he is what made us and our fathers come up from the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and what has done these great signs in our eyes, and has kept us all the way we have walked, and among all the peoples through which we pass.

And the Lord cast out before us and all these people, even the Amorite, the inhabitant of the earth: we too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.

Then Joshua said to the people, You will not be able to serve the Lord, for it is a holy God and a zealous God, who will not forgive your transgression or your sins.

If you leave the Lord and serve strange gods, then he will become, and will do you harm, and will consume you, after doing you good.

Then the people said to Joshua, No, we will serve the Lord first.

And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

So now go to the strange gods in your midst, and bow your hearts to the Lord God of Israel.

And the people said to Joshua, We will serve the Lord our God, and obey his voice.

So Joshua made a concert that day with the people, and put it by statute and right in Shechem.
