A segunda visão dos querubins

 

1 Depois olhei, e eis que no firmamento, que estava por cima da cabeça dos querubins, apareceu sobre eles como uma pedra de safira, como o aspecto da semelhança dum trono.

2 E falou ao homem vestido de linho, dizendo: Vai por entre as rodas, até debaixo do querubim, e enche as tuas mãos de brasas acesas dentre os querubins, e espalha-as sobre a cidade. E ele entrou à minha vista.

3 E os querubins estavam ao lado direito da casa, quando entrou aquele homem; e uma nuvem encheu o átrio interior.

4 Então se levantou a glória do Senhor de sobre o querubim para a entrada da casa; e encheu-se a casa duma nuvem, e o átrio se encheu do resplendor da glória do Senhor.

5 E o estrondo das asas dos querubins se ouviu até ao átrio exterior, como a voz do Deus Todo-poderoso, quando fala.

6 Sucedeu pois que, dando ele ordem ao homem vestido de linho, dizendo: Toma fogo dentre as rodas, dentre os querubins, entrou ele, e se pôs junto às rodas.

7 Então estendeu um querubim a sua mão de entre os querubins para o fogo que estava entre os querubins: e tirou, e o pôs nas mãos do que estava vestido de linho; o qual o tomou, e saiu.

8 E apareceu nos querubins uma semelhança de mão de homem debaixo das suas asas.

9 Então olhei, e eis quatro rodas junto aos querubins, uma roda junto a um querubim; e outra roda junto a outro querubim; e o aspecto das rodas era como cor de pedra de turquesa.

10 E, quanto ao seu aspecto, as quatro tinham uma mesma semelhança; como se estivera uma roda no meio doutra roda.

11 Andando eles, andavam elas pelos seus quatro lados; não se viravam quando andavam, mas para o lugar para onde olhava a cabeça, para esse andavam; não se viravam quando andavam.

12 E todo o seu corpo, e as suas costas, e as suas mãos, e as suas asas, e as rodas, as rodas que os quatro tinham, estavam cheias de olhos em redor.

13 E, quanto às rodas, elas foram chamadas, ouvindo eu, Galgal.

14 E cada um tinha quatro rostos: O rosto do primeiro era rosto de querubim, e o rosto do segundo era rosto de homem, e o rosto do terceiro era rosto de leão, e do quarto rosto de águia.

15 E os querubins se elevaram ao alto: estes são os mesmos animais que vi junto ao rio Quebar.

16 E, andando os querubins, andavam as rodas juntamente com eles; e, levantando os querubins as suas asas, para se elevarem de sobre a terra, também as rodas não se separavam deles.

17 Parando eles, paravam elas; e, elevando-se eles, elevavam-se elas, porque o espírito de vida estavam nelas.

18 Então saiu a glória do Senhor da entrada da casa, e parou sobre os querubins.

19 E os querubins alçaram as suas asas, e se elevaram da terra aos meus olhos, quando saíram; e as rodas os acompanhavam; e pararam à entrada da porta oriental da casa do Senhor; e a glória do Deus de Israel estava no alto, sobre eles.

20 Estes são os animais que vi debaixo do Deus de Israel, junto ao rio Quebar, e conheci que eram querubins.

21 Cada um tinha quatro rostos e cada um quatro asas, e a semelhança de mãos de homem debaixo das suas asas.

22 E a semelhança dos seus rostos era a dos rostos que eu tinha visto junto ao rio Quebar, como o seu aspecto e eles próprios; cada um andava ao direito do seu rosto.

1 Then he cried out in my ears with a loud voice, saying, “Bring near the overseers of the city, each with his weapon of destruction in his hand.”

2 And behold, six men came from the direction of the upper gate that faces north, each with his weapon of destruction in his hand, and among them was a man clothed in linen, with a scribe’s inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar.

3 Then the glory of the God of Israel rose from the cherub upon which it was, to the entrance of the house, and called to the man clothed in linen, who had the scribe’s inkhorn at his side.

4 And the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.”

5 And to the others he said in my hearing, “Go through the city after him and strike; do not let your eye spare, nor have pity.

6 Kill old men, young men, virgins, little children, and women, until you have exterminated them; but do not come near anyone who has the mark; and begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the house.

7 And he said to them, “Defile the house and fill the courts with the slain; go out.” So they went out and struck the city.

8 And it came to pass, when they had struck them, and I was left alive, that I fell on my face and cried out, and said, “Ah, Lord God! Will you destroy all the remnant of Israel, pouring out your wrath on Jerusalem?”

9 Then he said to me, “The wickedness of the house of Israel and Judah is very great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city is full of wickedness; and they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land; the Lord does not see.’

10 Therefore, as for me, my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity; I will bring their own way upon their own heads.”

11 And behold, the man clothed in linen, with the inkhorn at his side, returned with the answer, saying, “I have done as you commanded me.”

1 Então me gritou aos ouvidos com grande voz, dizendo: Fazei chegar os intendentes da cidade, cada um com as suas armas destruidoras na mão.

2 E eis que vinham seis homens a caminho da porta alta, que olha para o norte, e cada um com as suas armas destruidoras na mão, e entre eles um homem vestido de linho, com um tinteiro de escrivão à sua cinta; e entraram, e se puseram junto ao altar de bronze.

3 E a glória do Deus de Israel se levantou do querubim sobre o qual estava até à entrada da casa; e clamou ao homem vestido de linho, que tinha o tinteiro de escrivão à sua cinta.

4 E disse-lhe o Senhor: Passa pelo meio da cidade, pelo meio de Jerusalém, e marca com um sinal as testas dos homens que suspiram e que gemem por causa de todas as abominações que se cometem no meio dela.

6 Matai velhos, mancebos, e virgens, e meninos, e mulheres, até exterminá-los; mas a todo o homem que tiver o sinal não vos chegueis; e começai pelo meu santuário. E começaram pelos homens mais velhos que estavam diante da casa.

7 E disse-lhes: Contaminai a casa e enchei os átrios de mortos: saí. E saíram, e feriram a cidade.

8 Sucedeu pois que, havendo-os eles ferido, e ficando eu de resto, caí sobre a minha face, e clamei, e disse: Ah! Senhor, Jeová! Dar-se-á caso que destruas todo o restante de Israel, derramando a tua indignação sobre Jerusalém?

9 Então me disse: A maldade da casa de Israel e de Judá é grandíssima, e a terra se encheu de sangue e a cidade se encheu de perversidade; e eles dizem o Senhor deixou a terra; o Senhor não vê.

10 Pois também, quanto a mim, não poupará o meu olho, nem me compadecerei; sobre a cabeça deles farei recair o seu caminho.

The Abominations in the Sanctuary

1 In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house with the elders of Judah sitting before me, the hand of the Lord God fell upon me there.

2 I looked, and behold, a likeness as the appearance of fire, from the appearance of his loins, and upward as the appearance of a brightness, as the color of amber.

3 Then he stretched out the form of a hand and took me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the inner gate that faces north, where the image of jealousy was placed, which provokes jealousy.

4 And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the likeness that I had seen in the valley.

5 Then he said to me, “Son of man, lift up your eyes toward the north.” So I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and there on the north side, at the entrance to the altar, was this image of jealousy.

6 Then he said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing? The great abominations that the house of Israel is committing here, to drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will see even greater abominations.”

7 He brought me to the entrance of the courtyard, and I looked, and there was a hole in the wall.

8 He said to me, “Son of man, dig through the wall.” So I dug through the wall, and there was a door.

9 Then he said to me, “Go in and see the wicked abominations they are committing here.”

10 Then I went in and looked, and behold, every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, were portrayed on the wall all around.

11 Seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, who was among them, were standing before the paintings, each with his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense was rising.

12 Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each in his painted chambers? And they say, ‘The Lord does not see us; the Lord has forsaken the land.’”

13 And he said to me, “You will see even greater abominations than these men are doing.”

14 Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the Lord, and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. 

15 Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this? You will see even greater abominations than these.”

16 He brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house, and there at the entrance to the temple of the Lord, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, worshiping the sun toward the east.

17 He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this? Are there any things more detestable for the house of Judah than these abominations they are committing here? They have filled the land with violence and have turned to provoke me to anger; they are even putting the branch to their nose.

18 Therefore I also will act in fury; my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. Though they cry out in my ears with a loud voice, I will not listen to them.”

1 Sucedeu pois, no sexto ano, no mês sexto, no quinto dia do mês, estando eu assentado na minha casa, e os anciãos de Judá assentados diante de mim, que ali a mão do Senhor Jeová caiu sobre mim.

2 E olhei, e eis uma semelhança como aparência de fogo; Desde a aparência dos seus lombos, e para cima como aspecto de um resplendor, como cor de âmbar;

3 E estendeu a forma duma mão, e me tomou pelos cabelos da minha cabeça; e o Espírito me levantou entre a terra e o céu, e me trouxe a Jerusalém em visões de Deus, até à entrada da porta do pátio de dentro, que olha para o norte, onde estava colocada a imagem dos ciúmes, que provoca ciúmes.

4 E eis que a glória do Deus de Israel estava ali, conforme a semelhança que eu tinha visto no vale.

11 E setenta homens dos anciãos da casa de Israel, com Jazanias, filho de Safã, que se achava no meio deles, estavam em pé diante das pinturas, e cada um tinha na mão o seu incensário; e subia uma espessa nuvem de incenso.

12 Então me disse: Viste, filho do homem, o que os anciãos da casa de Israel fazem nas trevas, cada um nas suas câmaras pintadas de imagens? E eles dizem: O Senhor não nos vê; o Senhor abandonou a terra.

13 E disse-me: Tornarás a ver ainda maiores abominações do que as que estes fazem.

14 E levou-me à entrada da porta da casa do Senhor, que está da banda do norte, e eis que estavam ali mulheres assentadas chorando por Tamuz.

15 E disse-me: Viste, filho do homem? Verás ainda abominações maiores do que estas.

16 E levou-me para o átrio interior da casa do Senhor, e eis que estavam à entrada do templo do Senhor, entre o pórtico e o altar, acerca de vinte e cinco homens, de costas para o templo do Senhor, e com os rostos para o oriente; e eles adoravam o sol virados para o Oriente.

17 Então me disse: Viste, filho do homem? Há coisas mais leviana para a casa de Judá, do que essas abominações, que fazem aqui? Havendo enchido a terra de violência, tornam a irritar-me; e, ei-los a chegar o ramo ao seu nariz.

18 Pelo que também eu procederei com furor; o meu olho não poupará, nem terei piedade: ainda que me gritem aos ouvidos com grande voz, em não os ouvirei.

5 Thus says the Lord God: This is Jerusalem; I have set it in the midst of the nations and lands that are round about it;

6 But she has turned my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the lands that are around her; for they have rejected my judgments, and have not walked in my precepts.

7 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have multiplied your wickedness more than the nations that are around you, you have not walked in my statutes, nor have you done my judgments, nor have you acted according to the judgments of the nations that are around you;

8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, even I, am against you; and I will execute judgments in the midst of you in the sight of the nations.

9 And I will do in you what I have never done, and what I will never do, because of all your abominations.

10 Therefore fathers shall eat their children in the midst of you, and children shall eat their fathers; And I will execute judgments upon you, and scatter the remnant to all the winds.

11 Therefore, as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things and with all your abominations, I also will diminish you, and my eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity.

12 A third of you will die of plague and be consumed by famine in your midst; a third will fall by the sword around you; and a third I will scatter to all the winds, and I will draw out the sword after them.

13 Thus my anger will be spent, and I will satisfy my wrath on them, and I will be comforted; and they will know that I, the Lord, have spoken in my zeal, when I spend my wrath on them.

14 And I will make you a desolation, and a reproach among the nations that are round about you, in the sight of all that pass by.

15 And reproach and infamy shall be an instruction and a horror to the nations that are round about you, when I execute judgments upon you in anger, and in fury, and in furious punishments: I, the Lord, have spoken.

16 When I send the terrible arrows of famine against them, for their destruction, which I will send to destroy you, then I will increase the famine upon you, and make the provision of bread unstable.

17 And I will send upon you famine and more beasts that will bereave you of your children; and pestilence and bloodshed shall pass through you; and I will bring the sword upon you. I, the Lord, have spoken.

1 E tu, ó filho do homem, toma uma faca afiada, como navalha de barbeiro, e a tomarás, e a farás passar por cima da tua cabeça e da tua barba; então tomarás uma balança e repartirás o cabelo.

9 E farei em ti o que nunca fiz, e o que jamais farei, por causa de todas as tuas abominações.

10 Portanto os pais comerão a seus filhos no meio de ti, e os filhos comerão a seus pais; e executarei em ti juízos, espalharei todo o remanescente a todos os ventos.

11 Portanto, tão certo como eu vivo diz o Senhor Jeová, pois que profanaste o meu santuário com todas as tuas coisas detestáveis, e com todas as tuas abominações, também eu te diminuirei, e o meu olho te não perdoará, nem também terei piedade.

12 Uma terça parte de ti morrerá da peste, e se consumirá à fome no meio de ti; e outra terça parte cairá à espada em redor de ti; e a outra terça parte espalharei a todos os ventos, e a espada desembainharei atrás deles.

13 Assim se cumprirá a minha ira, e satisfarei neles o meu furor, e me consolarei; e saberão que sou eu, o Senhor, que tenho falado no meu zelo, quando cumprir neles o meu furor.

14 E te porei em assolação, e como opróbrio entre as nações que estão em redor de ti, aos olhos de todos os que passarem.

Prediction of the Siege of Jerusalem

1 “You, son of man, take a brick and set it before you and engrave on it the city of Jerusalem.

2 Then lay siege against it, build a siege ramp against it, raise a siege ramp against it, and set siege ramps all around it.

3 Take an iron pan and set it as an iron wall between you and the city; set your face toward it, and it will be besieged, and you will besiege it; this will be a sign to the house of Israel.

4 Lie on your left side and put the iniquity of the house of Israel on it; according to the number of days that you lie on it, you shall bear their iniquities.

5 For I have appointed for you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of days, three hundred and ninety days; and you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

6 And when you have fulfilled these, you shall again lie on your right side, and you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days; I have given you one day for each year.

7 You shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm uncovered, and you shall prophesy against it.

8 And behold, I will put ropes upon you, so that you shall not turn from one side to the other, until you have fulfilled the days of your siege.

9 And you shall take wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and put them in a vessel, and make bread of them; according to the number of days that you lie on your side, three hundred and ninety days, you shall eat of it.

10 Your food, which you shall eat, shall be by the weight of twenty shekels a day; you shall eat it at set times.

11 You shall also drink water by measure, a sixth of a hin; you shall drink it at set times.

12 What you eat shall be like barley cakes, and you shall bake it with human dung in their sight.

13 And the Lord said, “Thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the nations where they shall be driven.”

14 Then I said, “Ah, Lord, Lord! Behold, my soul has not been defiled, for I have never eaten anything dead or torn by beasts from my youth until now, nor has any abominable flesh entered my mouth.”

15 And he said to me, “See, I have given you cow dung instead of human dung; and you shall prepare your bread with it.”

16 Then he said to me, “Son of man, behold, I am making the supply of bread unstable in Jerusalem; and they shall eat bread by weight, and with disgust; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment;

17 So that bread and water may fail them, and they may be astonished at one another, and they may consume themselves in their iniquities.”

4 Tu também deita-te sobre o teu lado esquerdo, e põe a maldade da casa de Israel sobre ele: conforme o número dos dias que te deitares sobre ele, levarás as suas maldades.

5 Porque eu te tenho fixado os anos da sua maldade, conforme o número dos dias, trezentos e noventa dias: e levarás a maldade da casa de Israel.

10 E a tua comida, que hás de comer, será do peso de vinte siclos cada dia; de tempo em tempo a comerás.
