The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 6 Prophecy Against the Mountains of Israel

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 6

Prophecy Against the Mountains of Israel

The word of the Lord came to me:

“Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel and prophesy against them.

Say to them: ‘Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God: This is what the Lord God says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: I, even I, am going to bring a sword against you and destroy your high places.

Your altars will be desolate and your sun images broken to pieces. I will throw down the slain of Israel before your idols.

I will place the corpses of the Israelites before their idols and scatter your bones around your altars.

In all your inhabited places the cities will be laid waste and the high places desolate; So that your altars may be destroyed and laid waste, and your idols broken and left to decay, and your sun images cut down, and your works destroyed.

And the slain shall fall in your midst, that you may know that I am the Lord.

But I will leave a remnant, that some may escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered throughout the lands.

Then those who escape from you among the nations, where they have been carried captive, will remember me; for I was broken because of their corrupt heart, which has turned away from me, and because of their eyes, which have gone astray after their idols; and they will loathe themselves because of the wickedness they have committed in all their abominations.

And they will know that I, the Lord, did not say in vain that I would bring this evil upon them.

Thus says the Lord God: Clap your hand, and strike your foot, and say, “Ah! Because of all the abominations of the wickedness of the house of Israel! For they shall fall by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence.

He who is far off shall die of pestilence, and he who is near shall fall by the sword; and he who is left and surrounded shall die of famine; and I will fulfill my wrath against them.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when their slain are among their idols, around their altars, on every high hill, on every mountaintop, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, in the place where they offered sweet incense to all their idols.

And I will stretch out my hand against them, and I will make the land desolate, even more desolate than the wilderness toward Diblah, in all its dwellings; and they shall know that I am the Lord.”
