The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 7
The end is coming! The end is coming!
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
“Son of man, say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says concerning the land of Israel: The end has come, the end has come upon the four corners of the land.
Now the end has come upon you, for I will send my wrath upon you and judge you according to your ways, and I will bring upon you all your abominations.
My eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity on you, but I will bring your ways upon you, and your abominations will be in your midst; and you will know that I am the Lord.
This is what the Sovereign Lord says: A calamity, behold, a single calamity is coming.
The end has come, the end has come, it has awakened against you; behold, it is coming.
Your judgment is coming, O inhabitant of the earth. The time is coming; The day of trouble has come, not of joy, upon the mountains.
Now I will quickly pour out my fury upon you, and fulfill my wrath against you, and I will judge you according to your ways, and I will bring upon you all your abominations.
My eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity; according to your ways I will repay you, and your abominations will be in your midst; and you will know that I, the Lord, punish.
Behold, the day is coming; your ruin has come; the rod has blossomed, pride has flourished.
Violence has risen up as a rod of wickedness; nothing will remain of them, nor of their multitude, nor of their noise, nor will there be lamentation for them.
The time is coming, the day has arrived; Let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller grieve, for fierce anger is upon all their multitude.
For the seller will not again possess what he sold, even though he is among the living; for the vision will not turn back upon all their multitude; nor will anyone strengthen his life with his iniquity.
They have sounded the trumpet and prepared everything, but no one goes to battle, for my fierce anger is upon all their multitude.
Outside is the sword, and inside are pestilence and famine; whoever is in the city will be consumed by famine and pestilence.
And only those who escape will be delivered, but they will be on the mountains, like doves of the valleys, all of them groaning, each one because of his wickedness.
All hands will be feeble, and all knees will drip with water.
They will gird themselves with sackcloth, and trembling will cover them; 18 Shame will fall on every face, and baldness on every head.
They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like filth; neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them on the day of the Lord’s wrath. They will not satisfy their souls, nor fill their bellies, because this was the stumbling block of their wickedness.
And the glory of its ornament, he set in magnificence; but they made in it images of their abominations and detestable things; therefore I have made it to them as an unclean thing.
And it will be given into the hand of strangers for plunder, and to the wicked of the earth for spoil; and they will defile it.
And I will turn my face from them, and they will defile my secret place; for plunderers will enter into it and defile it.
Make a chain, for the land is full of bloodshed, and the city is full of violence.
I will bring the worst of the nations, and they shall possess their houses; I will put an end to the arrogance of the mighty, and their holy places shall be profaned.
Destruction is coming; and they will seek peace, but there is none.
Misery upon misery will come, and rumor upon rumor will arise; then they will seek a vision from the prophet, but the law will perish from the priest and counsel from the elders.
The king will lament, and the prince will be clothed with bitterness, and the hands of the people of the land will be afflicted: I will deal with them according to their ways, and with their judgments I will judge them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
