दमिश्क और एप्रैम के विरुद्ध भविष्यवाणी

1 दमिश्क का बोझ। देखो, दमिश्क छीन लिया जाएगा; वह अब नगर नहीं, खण्डहरों का ढेर रहेगा।

2 अरोएर के नगर उजड़ जाएँगे; वे भेड़-बकरियों के झुंड बन जाएँगे, जो बैठे रहेंगे, और कोई उन्हें डरा न सकेगा।

3 एप्रैम का गढ़, दमिश्क का राज्य और अराम के बचे हुए लोग नष्ट हो जाएँगे; वे इस्राएलियों के वैभव के समान हो जाएँगे, सेनाओं के यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

4 उस दिन याकूब का वैभव घट जाएगा, और उसकी देह की चर्बी जाती रहेगी।

5 क्योंकि वह उस लवनेवाले के समान होगा जो गेहूँ बटोरता और अपनी बाँह से बालें छाँटता है; वह उस के समान होगा जो रपाईम की तराई में बालें बीनता है। 

6 परन्तु जैतून के वृक्ष के हिलाने के समान उसमें अभी भी कुछ बीने हुए फल होंगे: सबसे ऊपरी शाखा पर दो या तीन जैतून के फल, और फलदार वृक्ष की सबसे बाहरी शाखा पर चार या पाँच शाखाएँ होंगी, इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

7 उस दिन मनुष्य अपने रचयिता की ओर दृष्टि करेगा, और उसकी आँखें इस्राएल के पवित्र की ओर लगी रहेंगी।

8 वह अपने हाथों की बनाई वेदियों पर दृष्टि नहीं करेगा, न ही वह अपनी उंगलियों की बनाई हुई वस्तुओं, न ही अशेरा-स्तंभों, न ही सूर्य की मूर्तियों पर ध्यान देगा।

9 उस दिन उसके गढ़वाले नगर जंगल में या पहाड़ों की चोटियों पर छोड़े गए स्थानों के समान होंगे, जो इस्राएलियों के सामने त्याग दिए गए थे; और वे उजड़ जाएँगे।

10 क्योंकि तुम अपने उद्धारकर्त्ता परमेश्वर को भूल गए हो, और अपनी शक्ति की चट्टान को स्मरण नहीं किया है, तुम सुंदर पौधे लगाओगे और उन्हें विदेशी शाखाओं से घेर दोगे। 

11 जिस दिन तुम उन्हें बोओगे, उस दिन उन्हें बाड़ा बनाओगे, और भोर को तुम्हारे बीज उगेंगे; परन्तु संकट और असाध्य पीड़ा के दिन फसल नष्ट हो जाएगी।

Prophecy Against Damascus and Ephraim

1 The Burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus will be taken away; it will no longer be a city, but a heap of ruins.

2 The cities of Aroer will be desolate; they will be for flocks, which will lie down, and no one will make them afraid.

3 The stronghold of Ephraim will cease, the kingdom of Damascus and the remnant of Syria; they will be like the glory of the children of Israel, says the Lord of hosts.

4 In that day the glory of Jacob will be diminished, and the fatness of his flesh will disappear.

5 For he will be like a reaper who gathers the wheat and reaps the ears with his arm; he will be like one who gleans the ears in the Valley of Rephaim. 

6 But there will still be some gleanings in it, like the shaking of an olive tree: two or three olives on the topmost branch, and four or five branches on the outermost branch of a fruitful tree, declares the Lord God of Israel.

7 In that day man will look to his Maker, and his eyes will have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

8 He will not regard the altars, the work of his hands, nor will he look to what his fingers have made, nor to the Asherah poles, nor to the images of the sun.

9 In that day his fortified cities will be like the forsaken places in the forest or on the top of the mountains, which were abandoned before the children of Israel; and they will be desolate.

10 Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and have not remembered the rock of your strength, you will plant beautiful plants and surround them with strange branches. 

11 In the day that you plant them you shall hedge them in, and in the morning you shall make your seed spring up: but the harvest shall fly away in the day of trouble and of incurable pain.

1 Peso de Damasco. Eis que Damasco será tirada, e já não será cidade, mas um montão de ruínas.

2 As cidades de Aroer serão abandonadas; hão de ser para os rebanhos, que se deitarão sem haver quem os espante.

3 E a fortaleza de Efraim cessará, como também o reino de Damasco e o resíduo da Síria; serão como a glória dos filhos de Israel, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.

4 E será diminuída naquele dia a glória de Jacó, e a gordura da sua carne desaparecerá.

5 Porque será como o segador que colhe o trigo, e com o seu braço sega as espigas, e será também como o que colhe espigas no vale de Refaim.

6 Mas ainda ficarão nele alguns rabiscos, como no sacudir da oliveira: duas ou três azeitonas na mais alta ponta dos ramos, e quatro ou cinco ramos mais exteriores de uma árvore frutífera, diz o Senhor Deus de Israel.

7 Naquele dia atentará o homem para o seu criador, e os seus olhos olharão para o Santo de Israel.

8 E não atentará para os altares, obra das suas mãos, nem olhará para o que fizeram seus dedos, nem para os bosques, nem para as imagens do sol.

9 Naquele dia serão as suas cidades fortes como os lugares abandonados no bosque ou sobre o cume das montanhas, os quais foram abandonados ante os filhos de Israel: e haverá assolação.

10 Porquanto te esqueceste do Deus da tua salvação, e não te lembraste da rocha da tua fortaleza: pelo que bem plantarás plantas formosas, e as cercarás de sarmentos estranhos.

11 No dia em que as plantares as cercarás, e pela manhã farás que a tua semente brote: mas a colheita voará no dia da tribulação e das dores insofríveis.

2 अन्यथा, मोआब की पुत्रियाँ अर्नोन के घाटों पर अपने घोंसले से छूटकर भटकती हुई चिड़िया के समान होंगी।

3 युक्ति करो, न्याय करो; अपनी छाया दोपहर के समय रात के समान रखो; बहिष्कृतों को छिपा रखो, और भटकने वालों को न खोलो।

4 हे मोआब, मेरे बहिष्कृत लोग तुम्हारे बीच रहें; नाश करनेवाले के मुँह से उनकी शरण हो; क्योंकि उपद्रवी मनुष्य का अन्त हो जाएगा; विनाश का नाश हो जाएगा, और अत्याचारी पृथ्वी पर से नाश हो जाएँगे।

5 क्योंकि दाऊद के तम्बू में करुणा से एक सिंहासन स्थापित किया जाएगा, और उस पर सच्चाई से एक व्यक्ति विराजमान होगा, जो न्याय करेगा, न्याय की खोज करेगा, और धर्म के काम करने में शीघ्रता करेगा। 

6 हम ने मोआब के घमण्ड के विषय में सुना है, जो अति घमण्डी है, उसके अभिमान, अहंकार और क्रोध के विषय में; उसका घमण्ड व्यर्थ है।

7 इसलिए मोआब, मोआब के लिए हाय-हाय करेगा; सब लोग हाय-हाय करेंगे; तुम कीर-हेरेसत की नींव के लिए विलाप करोगे, क्योंकि वे हिल गई हैं।

10 फलदार खेत से आनन्द और हर्ष गायब हो गया है, और दाख की बारियों में कोई गीत नहीं है, न ही कोई हर्ष है; रौंदनेवाला अब दाख के कुण्डों में दाखों को नहीं रौंदेगा। मैंने आनन्द को समाप्त कर दिया है।

11 इस कारण मेरा हृदय मोआब के लिये वीणा के समान और मेरा मन कीरहेरेस के समान गाता है।

12 और जब मोआब ऊँचे स्थानों पर थककर अपने पवित्रस्थान में प्रार्थना करने को आएगा, तब उसको कुछ लाभ न होगा।

13 यह वही वचन है जो यहोवा ने मोआब के विरुद्ध पहले कहा था।

14 परन्तु अब यहोवा ने कहा है, तीन वर्ष के भीतर (मजदूरों के वर्षों के समान), मोआब का वैभव और उसकी सारी भीड़ मिट जाएगी; और जो बचे रहेंगे वे थोड़े, छोटे और निर्बल होंगे।

 The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 16

1 Send the lamb to the ruler of the land, from Sela in the wilderness to the mountain of the daughter of Zion.

2 Otherwise, the daughters of Moab will be like a wandering bird flung from its nest at the fords of Arnon.

3 Take counsel, execute justice; set your shadow like night at midday; hide the outcasts, and do not uncover those who wander.

4 Let my outcasts dwell among you, O Moab; be their refuge from the face of the destroyer; for the violent man will cease; destruction will be destroyed, and the oppressors will be consumed from the earth.

5 For a throne will be established in lovingkindness, and one will sit on it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging and seeking justice, and making haste to do righteousness. 

6 We have heard of the pride of Moab, even the most proud; his haughtiness, and his arrogance, and his wrath; his boasting is vain.

7 Therefore Moab will howl for Moab; everyone will howl; you will wail for the foundations of Kir-hareseth, for they are shaken.

8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vineyards of Sibmah; the lords of the nations have cut down its choicest plants; they are approaching Jazer; they wander in the wilderness; their branches are spread out, they have passed beyond the sea.

9 Therefore I will mourn for the vineyard of Sibmah with the weeping of Jazer; I will water you with my tears, Heshbon and Elealeh; because the joy of your summer fruits and your harvest has disappeared. 

10 The joy and gladness have fled from the fruitful field, and there is no singing in the vineyards, nor is there any joy; the treader will no longer tread the grapes in the winepresses. I have caused the joy to cease.

11 Therefore my heart sings for Moab like a harp, and my inward parts like Kir-heres.

12 And it shall come to pass, when Moab presents himself, when he wearies himself on the high places, and enters his sanctuary to pray, that he shall gain nothing.

13 This is the word that the Lord spoke against Moab in the past.

14 But now the Lord has spoken, saying, Within three years (like the years of hired servants), the glory of Moab will be diminished, with all its great multitude; and the remnant will be few, small, and powerless.

1 Enviai o cordeiro ao dominador da terra, desde Sela, no deserto, até ao monte da filha de Sião.

2 Doutro modo sucederá que serão as filhas de Moabe junto aos vaus de Arnom como o pássaro vagueante, lançado fora do ninho.

3 Toma conselho, executa o juízo, põe a tua sombra no pino do meio-dia como a noite; esconde os desterrados, e não descubras os vagueantes.

4 Habitem entre ti os meus desterrados, ò Moabe; serve-lhes de refúgio perante a face do destruidor; porque o homem violento terá fim; a destruição é desfeita, e os opressores são consumidos sobre a terra.

5 Porque um trono se firmará em benignidade, e sobre ele no tabernáculo de Davi se assentará em verdade um que julgue, e busque o juízo, e se apresse a fazer justiça.

6 Ouvimos da soberba de Moabe, a soberbíssima: da sua altivez, e da sua soberba, e do seu furor; a sua jactância é vã.

7 Portanto Moabe uivará por Moabe; todos uivarão: gemereis pelos fundamentos de Quir-Haresete, pois já estão abalados.

11 Pelo que minhas entranhas soam por Moabe como harpa, e o meu interior por Quir-Heres.

12 E será que, quando Moabe se apresentar, quando se cansar nos altos, e entrar no seu santuário a orar, nada alcançará.

13 Esta é a palavra que o Senhor falou no passado contra Moabe.

14 Mas agora falou o Senhor, dizendo: Dentro em três anos (tais quais os anos de jornaleiros), será envilecida a glória de Moabe, com toda a sua grande multidão; e o resíduo será pouco, pequeno e impotente.

Foretelling the Ruin of Moab

4 Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; their voice is heard even to Jahaz; therefore the armed men of Moab cry out; their soul trembles within them. 

5 My heart cries out for Moab; its nobles have fled to Zoar like a three-year-old heifer, because they weep at the ascent of Luhith, because on the way to Horonaim they take up a mournful wail.

6 For the waters of Nimrim will be a desolation; for the hay has dried up, the grass has languished, and there is no green thing.

7 Therefore they will carry away the abundance that they gathered and what they stored away to the brook of willows.

8 For the weeping will go all around the borders of Moab; its cry will reach even to Eglaim, and its roaring will reach even to Beerelim.

9 For the waters of Dimon are full of blood; therefore I will add more to Dimon: lions against those who escape from Moab, and against the remnants of the land.

3 Cingiram-se de sacos nas suas ruas nos seus terraços e nas suas praças todos andam uivando, e choram abundantemente.

4 Assim Hesbom como Eleale, andam gritando; até Jaaz se ouve a sua voz: por isso os armados de Moabe clamam; a sua alma treme dentro deles.

5 O meu coração clama por causa de Moabe: fugiram os seus nobres para Zoar, como a novilha de três anos porque vão chorando pela subida de Luíte, porque no caminho de Horonaim levantam um lastimoso pranto.

6 Porque as águas de Ninrim serão pura assolação; porque se secou o feno, definhou a erva, e não há verdura alguma.

7 Pelo que a abundância que ajuntaram, e o que guardaram, ao ribeiro dos salgueiros o levarão.

8 Porque o pranto rodeará os limites de Moabe; até Eglaim chegará o seu clamor, e ainda até Beerelim chegará o seu rugido.

9 Porquanto as águas de Dimom estão cheias de sangue, porque ainda acrescentarei mais a Dimom: leões contra aqueles que escaparem de Moabe, e contra as relíquias da terra.

29 हे सारे पलिश्तियों, आनन्द मत करो, क्योंकि जिस लाठी ने तुम्हें मारा था वह टूट गई है। क्योंकि साँप की जड़ से एक तुलसीपत्र निकलेगा, और उसका बच्चा एक अग्निमय, उड़नेवाला साँप होगा।

30 कंगालों के जेठे चरेंगे, और दरिद्र निडर विश्राम करेंगे। परन्तु मैं तुम्हारी जड़ को अकाल से उजाड़ दूँगा, और तुम्हारे बचे हुए लोग नष्ट हो जाएँगे।

31 हे फाटक, हाय, करो; हे नगर, हे पलिश्तियों, चिल्लाओ, तुम सब पिघल गए हो! क्योंकि उत्तर दिशा से धुआँ उठ रहा है, और नियत समय पर कोई भी अकेला नहीं बचेगा।

32 तब तुम प्रजा के दूतों को क्या उत्तर दोगे? यहोवा ने सिय्योन की नींव डाली है, ताकि उसकी प्रजा के उत्पीड़ित लोग उसमें शरण पा सकें।

28 In the year that King Ahaz died, this calamity arose.

29 Do not rejoice, all Philistia, because the rod that struck you is broken. For from the snake's root a basilisk will come forth, and its offspring will be a fiery, flying serpent.

30 The firstborn of the poor will feed, and the needy will lie down in safety. But I will famine your root, and your remnants will be destroyed.

31 Howl, O gate; cry out, O city, you, Philistia, you are all melted! For smoke comes from the north, and no one will be left alone at the appointed time.

32 What then will you answer the messengers of the people? The Lord has founded Zion, that the oppressed of his people may find refuge in it.

31 Uiva, ó porta; grita, ó cidade, tu ó Filistia, estás toda derretida; porque do norte vem um fumo, e ninguém ficará solitário no tempo determinado.

32 Que se responderá pois aos mensageiros do povo? Que o Senhor fundou a Sião, para que os opressos do seu povo nela encontrem abrigo.

24 The Lord of Hosts has sworn, saying, "As I have planned, so it will happen, and as I have purposed, so it will come to pass.

25 I will break Assyria in my land, and on my mountains I will tread him down, so that his yoke will depart from them, and his burden will be removed from their shoulders.

26 This is the plan that has been determined upon all the earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations.

27 For the Lord of Hosts has purposed; who then can disannul it? And his hand is stretched out; who then can turn it back?

13 तूने मन में कहा था, "मैं स्वर्ग पर चढ़ूँगा! मैं अपने सिंहासन को परमेश्वर के तारागण से भी ऊँचा करूँगा! मैं उत्तर दिशा में सभा के पर्वत पर सिंहासनारूढ़ होऊँगा!"

14 मैं बादलों की ऊँचाई से भी ऊपर चढ़ूँगा; मैं परमप्रधान के समान हो जाऊँगा।

15 फिर भी तू अधोलोक में, गड़हे के किनारे उतारा जाएगा।

16 जो तुझे देखेंगे, वे तुझे देखेंगे और विचार करेंगे, और कहेंगे, "क्या यह वही मनुष्य है जिसने पृथ्वी को और राज्यों को थरथरा दिया था?

1 For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and will settle them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cling to the house of Jacob.

2 And the peoples shall take them, and bring them to their places: and the house of Israel shall possess them for servants and for handmaids in the land of the Lord: and they shall take captive those who took them captive, and rule over their oppressors.

3 And it shall come to pass, in the day that God shall give thee rest from thy labor, and from thy trembling, and from the hard bondage wherein they made thee serve:

4 Then shalt thou take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! The golden city is finished!

5 The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers. 

6 He who struck the peoples with fury, with endless plagues, who ruled the nations in anger, is now persecuted, and no one can restrain him.

7 He is at rest, the whole earth is at rest! They shout for joy.

8 Even the fir trees rejoice over you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, "Since you fell, no one has come up against us to cut us down."

9 Sheol from the underworld is in turmoil for you, to meet you at your coming; it has awakened the dead for you, and all the princes of the earth, and raised all the kings of the nations from their thrones.

10 They will all answer and say to you, "You have also become sick like us, and you have become like us."

11 Your pomp has been brought down to Sheol with the noise of your viols; the worms will spread themselves under you, and the worms will cover you. 

12 How you have fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you have been cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations!

13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven! I will exalt my throne above the stars of God! I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, in the sides of the north!"

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.

15 Yet you will be brought down to Sheol, to the sides of the Pit.

16 Those who see you will gaze upon you and consider you, and say, "Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who made kingdoms tremble?

17 Who made the world like a wilderness and laid waste its cities, who did not let his captives go free to their homes?"

18 All the kings of the nations, every one of them, lie down in honor, each in his own house. 

19 But you are cast out of your grave like an abominable branch, like a garment of slain men pierced by a sword, like those who go down to the stones of a den, like a dead body trampled underfoot.

20 You will not be joined with them in the grave, because you have destroyed your land and killed your people; the offspring of the wicked will not be named forever.

21 Prepare slaughter for the children because of the iniquity of their fathers, so that they do not rise up and possess the land, and fill the world with cities.

22 For I will rise up against them, declares the Lord of hosts, and I will cut off from Babylon name and waste, son and grandson, declares the Lord.

23 And I will make her a possession of owls and pools of water; and I will sweep her with the broom of destruction, declares the Lord of hosts.

1 Porque o Senhor se compadecerá de Jacó, e ainda elegerá a Israel e os porá na sua própria terra: e ajuntar-se-ão com eles os estranhos, e se achegarão à casa de Jacó.

2 E os povos os receberão, e os levarão aos seus lugares, e a casa de Israel os possuirá por servos e por servas, na terra do Senhor; e cativarão aqueles que os cativaram, e dominarão os seus opressores.

3 E acontecerá que no dia em que Deus vier a dar-te descanso do teu trabalho, e do teu tremor, e da dura servidão com que te fizeram servir.

4 Então proferirás este dito contra o rei de Babilônia e dirás: Como cessou o opressor! A cidade dourada acabou!

5 Já quebrantou o Senhor o bastão dos ímpios e o cetro dos dominadores.

6 Aquele que feria os povos com furor, com praga incessante, o que com ira dominava as nações, agora é perseguido, sem que alguém o possa impedir.

7 Já descansa, já está sossegada toda a terra! Exclamam com júbilo.

8 Até as faias se alegram sobre ti, e os cedros do Líbano, dizendo: Desde que tu caíste ninguém sobe contra nós para nos cortar.

9 O inferno desde o profundo se turbou por ti, pata te sair ao encontro na tua vinda: despertou por ti os mortos, e todos os príncipes da terra, e fez levantar dos seus tronos a todos os reis das nações.

10 Estes todos responderão, e te dirão: Tu também adoeceste como nós, e foste semelhante a nós.

11 Já foi derrubada no inferno a tua soberba com o som dos teus alaúdes: os bichinhos debaixo de ti se estenderão, e os bichos te cobrirão.

12 Como caíste do céu, ó estrela da manhã, filha da alva! Como foste lançada por terra, tu que debilitavas as nações!

13 E tu dizias no teu coração: Eu subirei ao céu, acima das estrelas de Deus exaltarei o meu trono, e no monte da congregação me assentarei, da banda dos lados do norte.

14 Subirei acima das mais altas nuvens, e serei semelhante ao Altíssimo.

15 E contudo levado serás ao inferno, ao mais profundo do abismo.

16 Os que te virem te contemplarão, considerar-te-ão, e dirão: É este o varão que fazia estremecer a terra, e que fazia tremer os reinos?

17 Que punha o mundo como um deserto, e assolava as suas cidades? Que seus cativos não deixava ir soltos para suas casas?

18 Todos os reis das nações, todos eles, jazem em honra, cada um na sua casa.

19 Mas tu és lançado da tua sepultura, como um renovo abominável, como um vestido de mortos atravessados à espada, como os que descem ao covil de pedras, como corpo morto e pisado.

20 Com eles não te reunirás na sepultura; porque destruíste a tua terra e mataste o teu povo: a descendência dos malignos não será nomeada para sempre.

21 Preparai a matança para os filhos por causa da maldade de seus pais, para que não se levantem, e possuam a terra, e encham o mundo de cidades.

22 Porque me levantarei contra eles, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, e desarraigarei de Babilônia o nome, e os resíduos, e o filho, e o neto, diz o Senhor.

13 इसलिए मैं आकाश को कम्पित करूँगा; पृथ्वी अपनी जगह से हिल जाएगी, सेनाओं के यहोवा के क्रोध में, और उसके भड़के हुए क्रोध के दिन में।

14 हर कोई भागते हुए हिरण के समान होगा, और उस भेड़ के समान होगा जिसे कोई वापस नहीं लेता; हर कोई अपने लोगों के पास लौट जाएगा, और हर कोई अपने देश को भाग जाएगा।

The Destruction of Babylon and the Deliverance of Israel

1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.

2 Lift up a banner upon the bare mountain; lift up your voice to them; wave your hand to them, that they may enter the gates of the princes.

3 I have commanded my holy ones; I have called my mighty men to my anger, those who rejoice in my majesty.

4 The shouting of the multitude is heard on the mountains, like that of a great people, the tumult of kingdoms, and of nations gathered together. The Lord of hosts musters the army.

5 He comes from a far country, from the end of heaven, the Lord and the instruments of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

 6 Howl, for the day of the Lord is near; it comes like destruction from the Almighty.

7 Therefore all hands will be feeble, and every man's heart will melt.

8 They will be terrified, and pangs and anguish will seize them, and they will be in anguish like a woman in labor. Everyone will be terrified of his neighbor; their faces will be like faces of flame.

9 Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger, to make the earth desolate and to destroy its sinners from it.

10 For the stars of heaven and the heavenly bodies will not stop their light; the sun will be darkened in its rising, and the moon will not give its light. 

11 I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity. I will put an end to the arrogance of the arrogant, and I will humble the haughtiness of the ruthless.

12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold, and rarer than the gold of Ophir.

13 Therefore I will shake the heavens; the earth will be moved out of its place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

14 Everyone will be like a fleeing deer, and like a sheep that no one takes back; everyone will return to his own people, and everyone will flee to his own land.

15 Everyone who is found will be thrust through, and everyone who is caught will fall by the sword.

16 Their children will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered, and their wives ravished. 

17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who will not regard silver, nor desire gold.

18 Their bows will dash young men to pieces, and they will have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye will not spare children.

19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the glory and pride of the Chaldeans, will be like Sodom and Gomorrah, when God overthrew them.

20 It will no longer be inhabited, nor will it be built from generation to generation. The Arabian will not pitch his tent there, nor will the shepherds make their flocks lie down there.

21 But the wild beasts of the desert will lie down, horrible creatures; ostriches will dwell there, and satyrs will cavort there.

22 Howling beasts will cry to one another in their empty palaces, and jackals in their pleasure palaces. for his time is near, and his days will not be prolonged.
