 Proverbs of Solomon 5

1 My son, attend to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding:

2 That you may heed my warnings, and your lips may preserve knowledge.

3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil.

4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

5 Her feet go down to death; her steps are established in hell.

6 She does not consider the path of life; her ways are crooked, and she does not know them.

7 Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.

8 Keep your way far from her, and do not come near the door of her house;

9 Lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel. 

10 Lest strangers be satisfied with your power, and all your labors enter the house of a foreigner,

11 And you groan in the end, when your flesh and your body are consumed.

12 And you say, 'How I hated correction! And my heart despised reproof!

13 And I did not listen to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to my instructors!

14 I was almost in every evil, in the midst of the congregation and in the crowd.

15 Drink water from your own cistern, and running waters from your own well.

16 Should your springs be dispersed abroad, and streams of water in the streets?

17 May they be yours alone, and not for strangers with you.

18 May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice with the wife of your youth. 

19 Like a loving deer or a graceful gazelle, may her breasts satisfy you at all times; may you be forever enticed by her love.

20 And why, my son, would you be enticed by a strange woman or embrace the bosom of a foreign woman?

21 For a man's ways are before the eyes of the Lord, and he makes all his paths smooth.

22 As for the wicked, his own iniquities will capture him, and he will be held captive by the cords of his sin.

23 He will die because he has acted unjustly, and through the abundance of his folly he will go astray.

1 Filho meu, atende à minha sabedoria: à minha razão inclina o teu ouvido:

2 Para que conserves os meus avisos e os teus lábios guardem o conhecimento.

3 Porque os lábios da mulher estranha destilam favos de mel, e o seu paladar é mais macio do que o azeite.

4 Mas o seu fim é amargoso como o absinto, agudo como a espada de dois fios.

5 Os seus pés descem à morte: os seus passos firmam-se no inferno.

6 Ela não pondera a vereda da vida; as suas carreiras são variáveis, e não as conhece.

7 Agora pois, filhos, dai-me ouvidos e não vos desvieis, das palavras da minha boca.

8 Afasta dela o teu caminho, e não te aproximes da porta da sua casa;

9 Para que não dês a outros a tua honra nem os teus anos a cruéis.

10 Para que não se fartem os estranhos do teu poder e todos os teus trabalhos entrem na casa do estrangeiro,

11 E gemas no fim, quando se consumirem a tua carne e o teu corpo.

12 E digas: Como aborreci a correção! E desprezou o meu coração a repreensão!

13 E não escutei a voz dos meus ensinadores, nem a meus mestres inclinei o meu ouvido!

14 Quase que em todo mal me achei, no meio da congregação e do ajuntamento.

15 Bebe a água da tua cisterna, e das correntes do teu poço.

16 Derramar-se-iam por fora as tuas fontes, e pelas ruas os ribeiros de água?

17 Sejam para ti só, e não para os estranhos contigo.

18 Seja bendito o teu manancial, e alegra-te com a mulher da tua mocidade.

19 Como cerva amorosa, e gazela graciosa, saciem-te os seus seios em todo o tempo: e pelo seu amor sê atraído perpetuamente.

20 E por que, filho meu, andarias atraído pela estranha, e abraçarias o seio da estrangeira?

21 Porque os caminhos do homem estão perante os olhos do Senhor, e ele aplana todas as suas carreiras.

22 Quanto ao ímpio, as suas iniqüidades o prenderão, e com as cordas do seu pecado será detido.

23 Ele morrerá, porque sem correção andou, e pelo excesso da sua loucura andará errado.

1 हे बालकों, पिता की शिक्षा सुनो, और समझ प्राप्त करने में मन लगाओ।

2 क्योंकि मैं तुम्हें उत्तम शिक्षा देता हूँ: मेरी शिक्षा को मत त्यागो।

3 क्योंकि मैं अपने पिता का पुत्र था, कोमल, और केवल अपनी माता का अनुग्रह मुझ पर था।

4 और उसने मुझे सिखाया, और मुझसे कहा, "अपने हृदय में मेरे वचन रख; मेरी आज्ञाओं का पालन कर, तब जीवित रह।"

5 बुद्धि प्राप्त करो, समझ प्राप्त करो, और मेरे मुँह की बातों को न भूलना और न उनसे मुँह मोड़ना।

20 हे मेरे पुत्र, मेरे वचनों पर ध्यान दे; अपना कान मेरी बातों की ओर लगा।

Exhortation to Acquire Wisdom and Turn from the Way of the Wicked

1 Hear, O children, a father's instruction, and attend to know understanding.

2 For I give you good instruction: do not forsake my law.

3 For I was my father's son, tender, and only in favor with my mother.

4 And he taught me, and said to me, "Let your heart retain my words; keep my commandments, and live."

5 Get wisdom, get understanding, and do not forget or turn away from the words of my mouth.

6 Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will preserve you.

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; yes, with all your getting, get knowledge.

8 Exalt her, and she will exalt you; and when you embrace her, she will honor you.

9 She will place on your head a diadem of grace, and bestow a crown of splendor on you.

10 Hear, my son, and accept my words, and the years of your life will be many.

11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom and led you along straight paths.

12 When you walk in them, your steps will not be strayed; and when you run, you will not stumble.

13 Hold fast to instruction and do not let go; keep it, for it is your life.

14 Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil men.

15 Avoid it; do not pass by it; turn away from it and pass on.

16 For they do not sleep unless they do evil, and sleep flees from them unless they cause someone to stumble. 

17 For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

18 But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light, that shines brighter and brighter until the perfect day.

19 The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what they stumble over.

20 My son, attend to my words; incline your ear to my words.

21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them within your heart.

22 For they are life to those who find them, and health to their flesh.

23 Above all else, guard your heart, for from it are the issues of life.

24 Put away from you a crooked mouth, and perverse lips put far from you.

25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, and let your eyelids look straight before you. 

26 Consider the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.

27 Do not turn aside to the right or to the left; remove your foot from evil.

1 Ouvi, filhos, a correção do pai, e estai atentos para conhecerdes a prudência.

2 Pois dou-vos boa doutrina: não deixes a minha lei.

3 Porque eu era filho de meu pai: tenro, e único em estima diante de minha mãe.

4 E ele ensinava-me, e dizia-me: Retenha as minhas palavras o teu coração: guarda os meus mandamentos, e vive.

5 Adquire a sabedoria, adquire a inteligência, e não te esqueças nem te apartes das palavras da minha boca.

6 Não a desampares, e ela te guardará: ama-a e ela te conservará.

7 A sabedoria é a coisa principal: adquire pois a sabedoria; sim, com tudo o que possues adquire o conhecimento.

8 Exalta-a, e ela te exaltará; e, abraçando-a tu, ela te honrará.

9 Dará à tua cabeça um diadema de graça, e uma coroa de glória te entregará.

10 Ouve, filho meu, e aceita as minhas palavras, e se te multiplicarão os anos de vida.

11 No caminho da sabedoria te ensinei e pelas carreiras direitas te fiz andar.

12 Por elas andando, não se embaraçarão os teus passos; e se correres, não tropeçarás.

13 Pega-te à correção e não a largues: guarda-a, porque ela é a tua vida.

14 Não entre na vereda dos ímpios, nem andes pelo caminho dos maus.

15 Evita-o; não passes por ele: desvia-te dele e passa de largo.

16 Pois não dormem, se não fizerem mal, e foge deles o sono se não fizerem tropeçar alguém.

17 Porque comem o pão da impiedade, e bebem o vinho das violências.

18 Mas a vereda dos justos é como a luz da aurora que vai brilhando mais e mais até ser dia perfeito.

19 O caminho dos ímpios é como a escuridão: nem conhecem aquilo em que tropeçam.

20 Filho meu, atenta para as minhas palavras: às minhas razões inclina o teu ouvido.

21 Não as deixes apartar-se dos teus olhos: guarda-as no meio do teu coração.

22 Porque são vida para os que as acham, e saúde para o seu corpo.

23 Sobre tudo o que se deve guardar, guarda o teu coração, porque dele procedem as saídas da vida.

24 Desvia de ti a tortuosidade da boca, e alonga de ti a perversidade dos lábios.

25 Os teus olhos olhem direitos, e as tuas pálpebras olhem diretamente diante de ti.

26 Pondera a vereda de teus pés, e todos os teus caminhos sejam bem ordenados!

27 Não declines nem para a direita nem para a esquerda: retira o teu pé do mal.

1 हे मेरे पुत्र, मेरी व्यवस्था को मत भूलना, परन्तु अपने मन में मेरी आज्ञाओं को रखना।

2 क्योंकि ये तेरी आयु बढ़ाएँगी, और तेरे जीवन के वर्ष और शान्ति बढ़ेगी।

3 करुणा और सच्चाई को तू अलग न होने दे; इन्हें अपने गले का हार बना ले; इन्हें अपनी हृदयरूपी पटिया पर लिख ले।

4 तब तू परमेश्वर और मनुष्य दोनों का अनुग्रह और उत्तम समझ पाएगा।

5 तू अपनी समझ का सहारा न लेना, वरन सम्पूर्ण मन से यहोवा पर भरोसा रखना।

6 उसी को स्मरण करके अपने सब काम करना, तब वह तेरे लिये सीधा मार्ग निकालेगा।

7 अपनी दृष्टि में बुद्धिमान न होना; यहोवा का भय मानना और बुराई से दूर रहना।

8 इससे तेरा पेट भरेगा, और तेरी हड्डियाँ पुष्ट होंगी।

9 अपनी संपत्ति से और अपनी सारी उपज के पहले फल से यहोवा का आदर करना; 

10 तब तेरे खत्ते भरकर लबालब भर जाएँगे, और तेरे रसकुण्डों से नया दाखमधु फूट निकलेगा।

11 हे मेरे पुत्र, यहोवा की शिक्षा को तुच्छ न जानना, और न उसकी डाँट से घबराना।

12 क्योंकि यहोवा अपने प्रियों को ताड़ना करता है, जैसे कि पिता अपने प्रिय पुत्र को।

13 धन्य है वह मनुष्य जो बुद्धि पाए, और वह मनुष्य जो समझ प्राप्त करे।

14 क्योंकि उसका व्यापार चाँदी के व्यापार से, और उसका लाभ शुद्ध सोने के व्यापार से उत्तम है।

19 यहोवा ने पृथ्वी की नींव बुद्धि से डाली; और समझ से आकाश को तैयार किया।

20 उसके ज्ञान से गहिरे सागर फट गए, और बादल ओस गिराते हैं।

21 हे मेरे पुत्र, इन बातों को अपनी आँखों से ओझल न होने दे: खरी बुद्धि और विवेक की रक्षा कर।

22 क्योंकि ये तेरे प्राण के लिए जीवन और तेरे गले के लिए शोभायमान होंगी।

23 तब तू अपने मार्ग पर निडर चलेगा, और तेरे पाँव में ठेस न लगेगी।

24 जब तू लेटेगा, तब तुझे भय न होगा; तू लेटेगा और तुझे सुखद नींद आएगी।

25 अचानक आनेवाले भय से न डर, न ही दुष्टों के विनाश से।

26 क्योंकि यहोवा तेरी आशा है, और वह तेरे पाँवों को फँसने से बचाएगा।

27 जब तेरे बस में हो, तो उसके मालिकों से भलाई करने से न रुकना। 

28 जब वह तेरे पास हो, तो अपने पड़ोसी से न कहना, 'जा, फिर आना, कल मैं तुझे दे दूँगा।'

29 अपने पड़ोसी के विरुद्ध बुरी योजना न बनाना, क्योंकि वह तेरे साथ सुरक्षित रहता है।

30 यदि किसी व्यक्ति ने तुझे कोई हानि नहीं पहुँचाई है, तो उसके साथ अकारण झगड़ा न करना।

31 हिंसक मनुष्य से ईर्ष्या न करना, न ही उसके किसी मार्ग पर चलना।

32 क्योंकि यहोवा दुष्टों से घृणा करता है, परन्तु उसका भेद सीधे लोगों पर है।

33 यहोवा का शाप दुष्टों के घर पर है, परन्तु वह धर्मियों के निवास पर आशीष देगा।

34 वह ठट्ठा करनेवालों का उपहास तो करेगा, परन्तु दीनों पर अनुग्रह करेगा।

35 बुद्धिमान लोग सम्मान पाएँगे, परन्तु मूर्ख अपने ऊपर अपमान लाएँगे।

 Proverbs of Solomon 3

1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commandments.

2 For they will increase your days, and years of life and peace will add to you.

3 Do not let lovingkindness and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.

4 Then you will find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil.

8 This will be healing for your navel and marrow to your bones.

9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; 

10 Then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will burst out with new wine.

11 My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline, nor be weary of his rebuke.

12 For the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.

13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.

14 For her merchandise is better than the merchandise of silver, and her gain than fine gold.

15 She is more precious than rubies; all your desires cannot compare with her.

16 In her right hand is length of days; in her left are riches and honor.

17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her, and blessed are all who hold her fast. 

19 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he prepared the heavens.

20 By his knowledge the depths were split apart, and the clouds drop down the dew.

21 My son, do not let these things depart from your eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion;

22 For they will be life to your soul and grace to your neck.

23 Then you will walk confidently in your way, and your foot will not stumble.

24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.

25 Do not fear sudden terror, nor the destruction of the wicked when it comes.

26 For the Lord will be your hope, and he will keep your feet from being caught.

27 Do not withhold good from its owners, when it is in your power to do it. 

28 Do not say to your neighbor, 'Go, and come back, and tomorrow I will give it to you,' when you have it with you.

29 Do not plot evil against your neighbor, for he lives safely with you.

30 Do not contend with a man without reason, if he has done you no harm.

31 Do not envy a violent man, nor choose any of his ways.

32 For the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, but his secret is with the upright.

33 The Lord's curse is in the house of the wicked, but he will bless the dwelling of the righteous.

34 He will surely mock the scoffers, but he will give grace to the humble.

35 The wise will inherit honor, but fools will bring shame upon themselves.

1 Filho meu, não te esqueças da minha lei, e o teu coração guarde os meus mandamentos.

2 Porque eles aumentarão os teus dias, e te acrescentarão anos de vida e paz.

3 Não te desamparem a benignidade e a fidelidade: ata-as ao teu pescoço; escreve-as na tábua do teu coração.

4 E acharás graça e bom entendimento aos olhos de Deus e dos homens.

5 Confia no Senhor de todo o teu coração, e não te estribes no teu próprio entendimento.

6 Reconhece-o em todos os teus caminhos, e ele endireitará as tuas veredas.

7 Não sejas sábio a teus próprios olhos: teme ao Senhor e aparta-te do mal.

8 Isto será remédio para o teu umbigo e medula para os teus ossos.

9 Honra ao Senhor com a tua fazenda, e com as primícias de toda a tua renda;

10 E se encherão os teus celeiros abundantemente, e transbordarão de mosto os teus lagares.

11 Filho meu, não rejeites a correção do Senhor, nem te enojes da sua repreensão.

12 Porque o Senhor repreende aquele a quem ama, assim como o pai ao filho a quem quer bem.

13 Bem-aventurado o homem que acha sabedoria, e o homem que adquire conhecimento;

14 Porque melhor é a sua mercadoria do que a mercadoria de prata, e a sua renda do que o ouro mais fino.

15 Mais preciosa é do que os rubins; e tudo o que podes desejar não se pode comparar a ela.

16 Aumento de dias há na sua mão direita: na sua esquerda riquezas e honra.

17 Os seus caminhos são caminhos de delícias, e todas as suas veredas, paz.

18 É árvore da vida para os que a seguram, e bem-aventurados são todos os que a retêm.

19 O Senhor com sabedoria fundou a terra: preparou os céus com inteligência.

20 Pelo seu conhecimento se fenderam os abismos, e as nuvens destilam o orvalho.

21 Filho meu, não se apartem estas coisas dos teus olhos: guarda a verdadeira sabedoria e o bom siso;

22 Porque serão vida para a tua alma, e graça para o teu pescoço.

23 Então andarás com confiança no teu caminho, e não tropeçará o teu pé.

24 Quando te deitares, não temerás: sim, tu te deitarás e o teu sono será suave.

25 Não temas o pavor repentino, nem a assolação dos ímpios quando vier.

26 Porque o Senhor será a tua esperança, e guardará os teus pés de serem presos.

27 Não detenhas dos seus donos o bem, estando na tua mão poder fazê-lo.

28 Não digas ao teu próximo: Vai, e torna, e amanhã to darei: tendo-o tu contigo.

29 Não maquines mal contra o teu próximo, pois habita contigo confiadamente.

30 Não contendas com alguém sem razão, se te não tem feito mal.

31 Não tenhas inveja do homem violento, nem escolhas nenhum de seus caminhos.

32 Porque o perverso é abominação para o Senhor, mas com os sinceros está o seu segredo.

33 A maldição do Senhor habita na casa do ímpio, mas a habitação dos justos ele abençoará.

34 Certamente ele escarnecerá dos escarnecedores, mas dará graça aos mansos.

35 Os sábios herdarão honra, mas os loucos tomam sobre si confusão.

1 हे मेरे पुत्र, यदि तू मेरे वचन ग्रहण करे और मेरी आज्ञाओं को अपने हृदय में संजोए रखे,

2 और बुद्धि की ओर कान लगाए, और समझ की ओर मन लगाए,

3 यदि तू समझ के लिए पुकारे, और समझ के लिए ऊँची आवाज़ में बोले,

4 यदि तू उसे चाँदी की तरह ढूँढ़े, और छिपे हुए खज़ाने की तरह उसकी खोज करे,

5 तब तू यहोवा का भय समझेगा, और परमेश्वर का ज्ञान प्राप्त करेगा।

6 क्योंकि यहोवा बुद्धि देता है; ज्ञान और समझ उसके मुख से निकलती है।

7 वह धर्मियों के लिए खरी बुद्धि रख छोड़ता है; वह खराई से चलनेवालों के लिए ढाल है।

8 कि वह न्याय के मार्गों पर बना रहे, और अपने पवित्र लोगों के मार्ग की रक्षा करे।

9 तब तू धर्म, न्याय, न्याय और हर एक अच्छे मार्ग को समझेगा। 

10 क्योंकि बुद्धि तेरे हृदय में प्रवेश करेगी, और ज्ञान तेरे मन को भाएगा।

11 उत्तम विवेक तेरी रक्षा करेगा, और समझ तुझे बनाए रखेगी;

12 कि तुम्हें बुराई के मार्ग से और उलट-फेर की बातें कहनेवाले मनुष्य से बचाए;

13 उन लोगों से जो धर्म के मार्ग को त्यागकर अन्धकार के मार्गों पर चलते हैं;

14 जो बुराई करने से आनन्दित होते हैं, और दुष्टों की उलट-फेर की चाल से प्रसन्न होते हैं,

15 जिनके मार्ग टेढ़े-मेढ़े हैं, और उनके मार्ग भी टेढ़े-मेढ़े हैं;

16 कि तुम्हें पराई स्त्री और परदेशी से बचाए, जो अपनी बातों से चापलूसी करती है;

17 जो अपनी जवानी के मार्गदर्शक को छोड़ देती है, और अपने परमेश्वर की वाचा को भूल जाती है।

The Excellence of Wisdom

1 My son, if you will receive my words, and treasure my commandments within you,

2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and incline your heart to understanding,

3 If you cry out for understanding, and lift up your voice for understanding,

4 If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures,

5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity.

8 That he may keep the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints.

9 Then you will understand righteousness, justice, equity, and every good path. 

10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

11 Good judgment will guard you, and understanding will keep you;

12 To deliver you from the way of evil, and from the man who speaks perverse things;

13 From those who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

14 Who rejoice in doing evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil men,

15 Whose ways are crooked, and crooked in their ways;

16 To deliver you from the strange woman, and from the foreigner, who flatters with her words;

17 Who leaves the guide of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God.

18 For her house inclines to death, and her paths to the dead:

19 None who go to her will return, neither will they find the paths of life. 

20 That you may walk in the way of good people and keep the paths of the righteous.

21 For the upright will inhabit the land, and the blameless will remain in it.

22 But the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be rooted out of it.

1 Filho meu, se aceitares as minhas palavras, e esconderes contigo os meus mandamentos,

2 Para fazeres atento à sabedoria o teu ouvido, e para inclinares o teu coração ao entendimento,

3 E se clamares por entendimento, e por inteligência alçares a tua voz,

4 Se como a prata a buscares e como a tesouros escondidos a procurares,

5 Então entenderás o temor do Senhor, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.

6 Porque o Senhor dá a sabedoria: da sua boca vem o conhecimento e o entendimento.

7 Ele reserva a verdadeira sabedoria para os retos: escudo é para os que caminham na sinceridade.

8 Para que guarde as veredas do juízo: e conserve o caminho dos seus santos.

9 Então entenderás justiça, e juízo, e equidades, e todas as boas veredas.

10 Porquanto a sabedoria entrará no teu coração, e o conhecimento será suave à tua alma.

11 O bom siso te guardará e a inteligência te conservará;

12 Para te livrar do mal caminho, e do homem que diz coisas perversas;

13 Dos que deixam as veredas da retidão, para andarem pelos caminhos das trevas;

14 Que se alegram de mal fazer, e folgam com as perversidades dos maus,

15 Cujas veredas são tortuosas e desviadas nas suas carreiras;

16 Para te livrar da mulher estranha e da estrangeira, que lisonjeia com suas palavras;

17 Que deixa o guia da sua mocidade e se esquece do concerto do seu Deus.

18 Porque a sua casa se inclina para a morte, e as suas veredas para os mortos:

19 Todos os que se dirigem a elas não voltarão, e não atinarão com as veredas da vida.

20 Para que andes pelo caminho dos bons, e guardes as veredas dos justos.

21 Porque os retos habitarão a terra, e os sinceros permanecerão nela.

22 Mas os ímpios serão arrancados da terra e os aleivosos serão dela exterminados.

20 बुद्धि सड़क पर ऊँची आवाज़ में पुकारती है; वह गलियों में अपनी आवाज़ बुलंद करती है।

21 चौराहे पर, कोलाहल के बीच, वह चिल्लाती है; फाटकों के द्वारों पर और नगर में वह अपनी बातें कहती है:

22 हे भोले लोगों, तुम कब तक सरलता से प्रेम रखोगे? और हे ठट्ठा करनेवालों, तुम कब तक उपहास की इच्छा करोगे, और हे मूर्खों, तुम ज्ञान से घृणा करोगे?

23 मेरी फटकार सुनकर पश्चाताप करो: देखो, मैं अपनी आत्मा तुम पर भरपूर मात्रा में उंडेलूँगा, और अपने वचन तुम्हें बताऊँगा।

24 परन्तु इसलिये कि मैंने पुकारा, और तुमने इनकार किया; क्योंकि मैंने हाथ बढ़ाया, और किसी ने ध्यान नहीं दिया;

25 परन्तु तुमने मेरी सारी सलाह को अस्वीकार कर दिया, और मेरी डाँट को स्वीकार नहीं किया; 

26 मैं भी तुम्हारी विपत्ति पर हँसूँगा, और जब तुम्हारा भय आएगा, तब मैं ठट्ठा करूँगा।

27 जब तुम्हारा भय विनाश के समान और तुम्हारा विनाश बवंडर के समान आएगा, जब संकट और पीड़ा तुम पर आएगी।

28 तब वे मुझे पुकारेंगे, परन्तु मैं उत्तर न दूँगा; वे मुझे यत्न से ढूँढ़ेंगे, परन्तु मुझे न पाएँगे।

29 क्योंकि उन्होंने ज्ञान से घृणा की और यहोवा का भय मानना न चाहा;

30 उन्होंने मेरी सम्मति पर कोई ध्यान नहीं दिया, और मेरी सब ताड़नाओं को तुच्छ जाना।

31 इसलिए वे अपने ही कामों का फल भोगेंगे और अपनी ही युक्तियों से भर जाएँगे।

32 क्योंकि भोले लोगों का भटक जाना उन्हें मार डालेगा, और मूर्खों का वैभव उन्हें नाश करेगा।

33 परन्तु जो कोई सुनेगा, वह निडर रहेगा, और विपत्ति के भय से शान्ति से रहेगा।

The Invitation and Exhortation of Wisdom

20 Wisdom cries aloud from the street; she raises her voice in the streets.

21 At the crossroads, in the midst of the tumult, she cries out; at the entrances of the gates and in the city she utters her words:

22 How long, O you simple ones, will you love simplicity? And you scoffers will desire scorn, and you fools will hate knowledge?

23 Repent at my rebuke: behold, I will pour out my spirit upon you abundantly, and make my words known to you.

24 But because I called, and you refused; because I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;

25 But you rejected all my counsel, and would not receive my reproof; 

26 I also will laugh at your calamity, and I will mock when your fear comes.

27 When your fear comes like desolation, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.

28 Then they will call to me, but I will not answer; they will seek me early, but they will not find me.

29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord;

30 They would none of my counsel, and despised all my reproof.

31 Therefore they will eat the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own devices.

32 For the turning away of the simple will kill them, and the prosperity of fools will destroy them.

33 But whoever listens will dwell safely, and will be at peace from fear of evil.

20 A suprema sabedoria altissonantemente clama de fora; pelas ruas levanta a sua voz.

21 Nas encruzilhadas, no meio dos tumultos, clama: às entradas das portas e na cidade profere as suas palavras:

22 Até quando, ó simples, amareis a simplicidade? E vós, escarnecedores, desejareis o escárnio, e vós, loucos, aborrecereis o conhecimento?

23 Convertei-vos pela minha repreensão: eis que abundantemente derramarei sobre vós o meu espírito e vos farei saber as minhas palavras.

24 Mas, porque clamei, e vós recusastes; porque estendi a minha mão, e não houve quem desse atenção;

25 Antes rejeitastes todo o meu conselho, e não quisestes a minha repreensão;

26 Também eu me rirei na vossa perdição, e zombarei, vindo o vosso temor.

27 Vindo como assolação o vosso temor, e vindo a vossa perdição como tormenta, sobrevindo-vos aperto e angústia.

28 Então a mim clamarão, mas eu não responderei; de madrugada me buscarão, mas não me acharão.

29 Porquanto aborreceram o conhecimento; e não preferiram o temor do Senhor;

30 Não quiseram o meu conselho e desprezaram toda a minha repreensão.

31 Portanto comerão do fruto do seu caminho, e fartar-se-ão dos seus próprios conselhos.

32 Porque o desvio dos simples os matará, e a prosperidade dos loucos os destruirá.

33 Mas o que der ouvidos habitará seguramente, e estará descansado do temor do mal.

7 यहोवा का भय मानना ज्ञान का मूल है; मूर्ख लोग बुद्धि और शिक्षा को तुच्छ जानते हैं।

8 हे मेरे पुत्र, अपने पिता की शिक्षा पर ध्यान दे, और अपनी माता की शिक्षा को न त्याग।

9 क्योंकि वे तेरे सिर के लिए शोभायमान मुकुट और तेरे गले के लिए हार ठहरेंगे।

10 हे मेरे पुत्र, यदि पापी लोग तुझे अपने मन्त्रों से लुभाएँ, तो उनकी बात न मानना।

11 यदि वे कहें, "हमारे संग चलो; हम हत्या के लिये घात लगाएँ, हम अकारण निर्दोष की घात लगाएँ।"

12 हम उन्हें कब्र की नाईं जीवित और गड़हे में उतरने वालों की नाईं पूरा निगल जाएँ।

13 हमें सब प्रकार का बहुमूल्य धन मिलेगा; हम अपने घरों को लूट से भर लेंगे।

14 तू हम में से अपना भाग बाँटेगा; हम सबका एक ही बटुआ होगा। 

15 हे मेरे पुत्र, तू उनके संग न जाना; उनके मार्ग से अपने पांव न रखना।

16 क्योंकि वे बुराई की ओर दौड़ते और खून बहाने को तत्पर रहते हैं।

17 सचमुच, किसी पक्षी की आँखों के सामने जाल बिछाना व्यर्थ है।

18 और वे अपने ही खून की घात में रहते हैं; वे अपने ही प्राणों की घात में रहते हैं।

19 हर लालची की चाल ऐसी ही होती है; वह उसके स्वामी के प्राणों को फँसा लेती है।

Do not be deceived by sinners

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

8 My son, hear your father's instruction, and do not forsake your mother's law.

9 For they will be a garland of grace for your head, and chains for your neck.

10 My son, if sinners tempt you with their charms, do not consent.

11 If they say, "Come with us; let us lie in wait for blood, let us lie in wait for the innocent without cause."

12 Let us swallow them up alive, as the grave, and whole, as those who go down to the pit.

13 We will find all kinds of precious wealth; we will fill our houses with spoil.

14 You will cast your lot among us; we will all have one purse. 

15 My son, do not go with them; keep your foot from their paths.

16 For their feet run to evil and make haste to shed blood.

17 Indeed, in vain would a net be spread before the eyes of any bird.

18 And they lie in wait for their own blood; they lie in wait for their own lives.

19 Such are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; it will ensnare the souls of those who possess it.

8 Filho meu, ouve a instrução de teu pai, e não deixes a doutrina de tua mãe.

9 Porque diadema de graça serão para a tua cabeça, e colares para o teu pescoço.

10 Filho meu, se os pecadores com blandícias te quiserem tentar, não consintas.

11 Se disserem: Vem conosco; espiemos o sangue, espreitemos sem razão o inocente;

12 Traguemo-los vivos, como a sepultura; e inteiros, como os que descem à cova;

13 Acharemos toda a sorte de fazenda preciosa; encheremos as nossas casas de despojos;

14 Lançarás a tua sorte entre nós, teremos todos uma só bolsa;

15 Filho meu, não te ponhas a caminho com eles: desvia o teu pé das suas veredas.

16 Porque os pés deles correm para o mal e se apressam a derramar sangue.

17 Na verdade, debalde se estenderia a rede perante os olhos de qualquer ave.

18 E estes armam ciladas contra o seu próprio sangue; e as suas próprias vidas espreitam.

1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:

2 To know wisdom and instruction; to understand the words of understanding;

3 To receive the instruction of understanding, righteousness, justice, and equity;

4 To give prudence to the simple, and to the young man knowledge and discretion;

5 That the wise may hear and increase in wisdom; and the understanding may acquire wise counsel;

6 To understand a proverb and its interpretation, and the words of the wise, and their riddles.

4 Para dar ao simples prudência, e aos jovens conhecimento e bom siso;
