God delights in Zion

1 Its foundation is on the holy mountains.

2 The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

3 Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God.

4 I will mention Rahab and Babylon among those who know me; behold, of Philistia and Tyre and Ethiopia they will say, "This one was born there."

5 And of Zion they will say, "This one and that one were born there." And the Most High himself will establish her.

6 The Lord, when he makes a list of the peoples, will say, "This one was born there."

7 And the singers and players on instruments will sing, "All my springs are in you."

1 O seu fundamento está nos montes santos.

2 O Senhor ama as portas de Sião, mais do que todas as habitações de Jacó.

3 Coisas gloriosas se dizem de ti, ó cidade de Deus.

4 Dentre os que me conhecem, farei menção de Raabe e de Babilônia: eis que da Filístia, e de Tiro, e da Etiópia se dirá: Este é nascido ali.

5 E de Sião se dirá: Este e aquele nasceram ali; e o mesmo Altíssimo a estabelecerá.

6 O Senhor, ao fazer descrição dos povos, dirá: Este é nascido ali.

1 Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am needy and afflicted.

2 Preserve my soul, for I am holy, O my God; save your servant who trusts in you.

3 Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I cry to you all day long.

4 Make your servant's soul glad, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

5 For you, O Lord, are good and ready to forgive, and abundant in steadfast love to all who call on you.

6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer, and attend to the voice of my supplications.

7 In the day of my trouble I will cry to you, for you will answer me.

8 Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours.

 9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord, and they will glorify your name.

10 For you are great and do wonders; you alone are God.

11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.

12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.

13 For great is your mercy toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

14 The proud have risen against me, O God, and the assemblies of the ruthless seek my life; they have not set you before their eyes.

15 But you, O Lord, are a God full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and truth. 

16 Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant and save the son of your handmaid.

17 Show me a sign for good, that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame, when you, O LORD, help and comfort me.

Based on past deliverances, God's people ask for deliverance from present afflictions

1 You have blessed your land, O Lord; you have restored the captivity of Jacob.

2 You have forgiven the iniquity of your people; you have covered all their sins.

3 You have caused all your wrath to cease; you have turned away from your fierce anger.

4 Bring us back, O God of our salvation, and turn away your wrath from us.

5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you extend your anger to all generations?

6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

7 Show us your mercy, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.

8 I will listen to what God the Lord says; For he will speak peace to his people, and to his saints, if only they do not return to folly.

9 Surely salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring forth from the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 The Lord also shall give good, and our land shall yield its fruit.

13 Righteousness shall go before him, and he shall lead us in the way that his steps have made.

3 Fizeste cessar toda a tua indignação: desviaste-te do ardor da tua ira.

4 Torna-nos a trazer, ó Deus da nossa salvação, e retira de sobre nós a tua ira.

5 Estarás para sempre irado contra nós? Estenderás a tua ira a todas as gerações?

6 Não tornarás a vivificar-nos, para que o teu povo se alegre em ti?

7 Mostra-nos, Senhor, a tua misericórdia, e concede-nos a tua salvação.

8 Escutarei o que Deus, o Senhor, disser; porque falará de paz ao seu povo, e aos seus santos, contanto que não voltem à loucura.

9 Certamente que a salvação está perto daqueles que o temem, para que a glória habite em nossa terra.

10 A misericórdia e a verdade se encontraram; a justiça e a paz se beijaram.

1 How lovely are your tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!

2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself and her young, near your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.

4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they will praise you continually.

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the ways of the Lord.

6 He who passes through the valley of Baca makes it a spring; the rain also fills the pools.

7 They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.

1 O God, do not keep silent; do not close your ear or stand still, O God.

2 For, behold, your enemies are in an uproar, and those who hate you have lifted up their heads.

3 They have taken cunning counsel against your people, and have conspired against those you have protected.

4 They have said, "Come, let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may no longer be remembered."

5 For they have conspired together; they have joined together against you:

6 The tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagarites,

7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek, and Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre.

8 Assyria also joined with them; they were the arm of the children of Lot. 

9 Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin at the brook of Kishon; 

10 who were destroyed at Endor; they became dung for the land. 

11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna; 

12 who said, "Let us take for ourselves the famous dwellings of God as an inheritance."

 13 My God, make them like a whirlwind, like chaff before the wind. 

14 Like fire that burns the forest, and like a flame that sets the mountains ablaze; 

15 so pursue them with your tempest, and terrify them with your whirlwind. 

16 Let their faces be filled with shame, that they may seek one another and perish.

17 Let them be confounded and dismayed forever; let them be ashamed and perish.

18 That they may know that you, whose name alone is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.

3 Astutamente formam conselho contra o teu povo, e conspiram contra os teus protegidos.

4 Disseram: Vinde, e desarraiguemo-los para que não sejam nação, nem haja mais memória do nome de Israel.

5 Porque à uma se conluiaram; aliaram-se contra ti:

6 As tendas de Edom, e dos ismaelitas, de Moabe, e dos agarenos,

7 De Gebal, e de Amom, e de Amaleque e a Filístia, com os moradores de Tiro.

8 Também a Assíria se ligou a eles: foram eles o braço dos filhos de Ló.

17 Confundam-se e assombrem-se perpetuamente, envergonhem-se, e pereçam.

18 Para que saibam que tu, a quem só pertence o nome de Jeová, és o Altíssimo sobre toda a terra.

1 God stands in the assembly of the mighty; he judges in the midst of the gods.

2 How long will you judge unjustly, and regard the person of the wicked?

3 Defend the poor and the fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and the needy; rescue them from the hand of the wicked.

5 They know nothing, nor do they understand; they walk in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 I said, "You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High."

7 Yet you will die like men and fall like one of the princes.

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you.

1 Sing aloud to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob.

2 Take the psaltery, and bring the timbrel, the pleasant harp and the lute.

3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the time appointed for our solemn feast.

4 For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

5 He commanded it in Joseph as a testimony when he went out against the land of Egypt, where I heard a language I did not understand.

6 I took the burden from his shoulders; his hands were freed from the baskets.

7 You cried out in trouble, and I saved you; I answered you from the hiding place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah.

8 Hear me, my people, and I will warn you: O Israel, if you had listened to me!

9 There shall be no strange god among you, nor shall you bow down to a strange god.

10 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 But my people would not listen to my voice, and Israel would not accept me.

12 So I gave them over to their own hearts' desires, and they walked in their own counsels.

13 Oh, that my people had listened to me! That Israel would walk in my ways!

14 Soon I would subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their foes.

15 Those who hate the Lord would have submitted to him, and his days would have lasted forever.

16 I would feed them with the finest of the wheat and satisfy them with honey from the rock.

1 Cantai alegremente a Deus nossa fortaleza: celebrai o Deus de Jacó.

2 Tomai o saltério, e trazei o adufe, a harpa suave e o alaúde.

3 Tocai a trombeta na lua nova, no tempo marcado para a nossa solenidade.

4 Porque isto é um estatuto para Israel, e uma ordenança do Deus de Jacó.

5 Ordenou-o em José por testemunho, quando saíra contra a terra do Egito, onde ouvi uma língua que não entendia.

6 Tirei de seus ombros a carga; as suas mãos ficaram livres dos cestos.

7 Clamaste na angústia, e te livrei; respondi-te do lugar oculto dos trovões: provei-te nas águas de Meribá.

8 Ouve-me, povo meu, e eu te admoestarei: Ah, Israel, se me ouvisses!

9 Não haverá entre ti deus alheio, nem te prostrarás ante um deus estranho.

10 Eu sou o Senhor teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egito: abre bem a tua boca, e ta encherei.

11 Mas o meu povo não quis ouvir a minha voz, e Israel não me quis.

12 Pelo que eu os entreguei aos desejos dos seus corações, e andaram segundo os seus próprios conselhos.

13 Ah! Se o meu povo me tivesse ouvido! Se Israel andasse nos meus caminhos!

14 Em breve eu abateria os seus inimigos, e voltaria a minha mão contra os seus adversários.

15 Os que aborrecem ao Senhor ter-se-lhe-iam sujeitado, e o tempo dele seria eterno.

16 E eu o sustentaria com o trigo mais fino e o saciaria com o mel saído da rocha.
