The Believer's Joy in Contemplating God's Works

1 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, for praise is fitting for the upright.

2 Praise the Lord with the harp; sing to him with the ten-stringed psaltery.

3 Sing to him a new song; play well and make a joyful noise.

4 For the word of the Lord is right, and all his works are faithful.

5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.

7 He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; he lays up the depths as treasures.

8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9 For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nought; he brings the devices of the peoples to nothing. 

11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. 

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. 

13 The Lord looks down from heaven and sees all the children of men. 

14 From his dwelling place he looks down on all who dwell on earth. 

15 He fashions the hearts of all of them, he considers all their works. 

16 No king is saved by the greatness of an army, nor is a mighty man delivered by great strength. 

17 A horse is a vain thing for safety; it delivers no one by its great strength. 

18 Behold, the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those who hope in his mercy. 

19 To deliver their souls from death, and to keep them alive in famine, 

20 Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.

 21 For our heart rejoices in him, because we trust in his holy name. 

22 Let your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we wait for you.

1 Regozijai-vos no Senhor, vós, justos, pois aos retos convém louvor.

2 Louvai ao Senhor com harpa, cantai a ele com saltério de dez cordas.

3 Cantai-lhe um cântico novo: tocai bem e com júbilo.

4 Porque a palavra do Senhor é reta, e todas as suas obras são fiéis.

5 Ele ama a justiça e o juízo; a terra está cheia da bondade do Senhor.

6 Pela palavra do Senhor foram feitos os céus, e todo o exército deles pelo espírito da sua boca.

7 Ele ajunta as águas do mar como num montão; põe os abismos em tesouros.

8 Tema toda a terra ao Senhor; temam-no todos os moradores do mundo.

9 Porque falou, e tudo se fez; mandou e logo tudo apareceu.

10 O Senhor desfaz o conselho das nações, quebranta os intentos dos povos.

11 O conselho do Senhor permanece para sempre: os intentos do seu coração de geração em geração.

12 Bem-aventurada é a nação cujo Deus é o Senhor, e o povo que ele escolheu para sua herança.

13 O Senhor olha desde os céus e está vendo a todos os filhos dos homens.

14 Da sua morada contempla todos os moradores da terra.

15 Ele é que forma o coração de todos eles, que contempla todas as suas obras.

16 Não há rei que se salve com a grandeza de um exército, nem o homem valente se livra pala muita força.

18 Eis que os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os que o temem, sobre os que esperam na sua misericórdia.

19 Para livrar as suas almas da morte, e para os conservar vivos na fome,

20 A nossa alma espera no Senhor: ele é o nosso auxílio e o nosso escudo.

21 Pois nele se alegra o nosso coração, porquanto temos confiado no seu santo nome.

22 Seja a tua misericórdia, Senhor, sobre nós, como em ti esperamos.

1 धन्य है वह जिसका अपराध क्षमा किया गया, जिसका पाप ढाँप दिया गया।

2 धन्य है वह मनुष्य जिसका अधर्म यहोवा न ठहराए, और जिसकी आत्मा में कोई छल न हो।

1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3 While I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my mood was turned into the drought of summer.

5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord," and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

6 Therefore everyone who is holy will pray to you in a time when you may be found; even in the overflowing of many waters, they will not come near him.

7 You are my hiding place; You will preserve me from trouble; You will surround me with songs of deliverance.

8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.

9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding; whose mouth must be bitten and bridled, lest they bolt.

10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but whoever trusts in the Lord, mercy surrounds him.

11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; and sing for joy, all you who are upright in heart.

1 Bem-aventurado aquele cuja transgressão é perdoada, e cujo pecado é coberto.

2 Bem-aventurado o homem a quem o Senhor não imputa maldade, e em cujo espírito não há engano.

3 Enquanto eu me calei, envelheceram os meus ossos pelo meu bramido em todo o dia.

4 Porque de dia e de noite a tua mão pesava sobre mim; o meu humor se tornou em sequidão de estio.

5 Confessei-te o meu pecado, e a minha maldade não encobri; Dizia eu: Confessarei ao Senhor as minhas transgressões; e tu perdoaste a maldade do meu pecado.

21 यहोवा धन्य है, क्योंकि उसने मुझ पर सुरक्षित नगर में अद्भुत दया की है। 

22 क्योंकि मैं ने उतावली में कहा था, कि मैं तेरी दृष्टि से दूर हो गया हूं। तौभी जब मैं ने तुझे पुकारा, तब तू ने मेरी बिनती की आवाज सुनी।

1 In you, O Lord, I trust; never let me be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.

2 Incline your ear to me; rescue me quickly; be my rock, a mighty house that saves me.

3 For you are my rock and my fortress; therefore, for your name's sake, lead me and guide me.

4 Pull me out of the net that they have hidden for me, for you are my strength.

5 Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth.

6 I hate those who follow deceitful vanities; but I trust in the Lord.

7 I will be glad and rejoice in your loving kindness, for you have considered my affliction; you have known my soul in distress.

8 You have not given me over to the enemy; you have set my feet in a large place.

9 Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes waste away with grief, my soul and my body.

10 For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away.

11 Because of all my enemies I have become a reproach to my neighbors, and a horror to my acquaintances; those who saw me in the street fled from me.

12 I am forgotten in their hearts like a dead man; I am like a broken vessel.

13 For I have heard the murmuring of many; fear was all around, because everyone was slandering me. They tried to take my life.

14 But I trusted in you, O Lord; I said, “You are my God.”

15 My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me.

16 Make your face shine upon your servant; save me for the sake of your lovingkindness.

17 Do not let me be put to shame, O Lord, for I call on you. Let the wicked be put to shame; let them be silent in the grave.

18 Let lying lips be silent, speaking evil in arrogance and contempt against the righteous.

19 Oh, how great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, and which you have shown to those who trust in you in the presence of the sons of men!

20 You will hide them in the secret of your presence from the plots of men; you will hide them in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

21 Blessed be the Lord, for he has shown me wonderful mercy in a secure city.

22 For I said in my haste, “I am cut off from your sight.” Yet you heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to you.

23 Love the Lord, all you his saints, for the Lord preserves the faithful and rewards the proud with abundance.

24 Be strong, and he will strengthen your heart, all you who wait for the Lord.

1 हे यहोवा, मैं तुझे सराहूंगा, क्योंकि तूने मुझे ऊंचा किया है; तूने मेरे शत्रुओं को मेरे कारण आनन्दित नहीं होने दिया।

1 I will exalt you, O Lord, for you have lifted me up; you have not made my enemies rejoice over me.

2 O Lord my God, I cried out to you, and you healed me.

3 You have brought up my soul from Sheol; you have kept me alive, so that I should not go down to the pit.

4 Sing to the Lord, you his saints, and give thanks to his holiness.

5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but in his favor is life; Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

6 I said in my prosperity, "I will never be moved."

7 By your favor, O Lord, you have made my mountain strong; you have hidden your face, and I was troubled.

8 To you, O Lord, I cried, and to the Lord I made supplication.

9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it declare your truth?

10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me, O Lord; be my help.

11 You turned my mourning into dancing; you took off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.

12 So that my glory may sing praise to you and not be silent: O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.

9 यहोवा की वाणी हिरनों को बछड़े पैदा करने और दरारों को खोलने का काम करती है। और उसके मन्दिर में सब लोग कहते हैं, “महिमा!”

1 Give to the Lord, O you mighty men, give to the Lord glory and strength.

2 Give to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over many waters.

4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; yes, the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He makes them skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like young unicorns.

7 The voice of the Lord splits the flames of fire.

8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

3 A voz do Senhor ouve-se sobre as águas; o Deus da glória troveja; o Senhor está sobre as muitas águas.

4 A voz do Senhor é poderosa; a voz do Senhor é cheia de majestade.

5 A voz do Senhor quebra os cedros; sim, o Senhor quebra os cedros do Líbano.

6 Ele os faz saltar como a um bezerro; ao Líbano e Siriom, como novos unicórnios.

1 हे यहोवा, मेरी चट्टान, मैं तुझ से प्रार्थना करूंगा; तू मेरे प्रति चुप न रह; कहीं ऐसा न हो कि यदि तू मेरे प्रति चुप रहे, तो मैं उन लोगों के समान हो जाऊं जो गड़हे में जाते हैं।

2 जब मैं तुझे पुकारूं, और तेरे पवित्र वचन की ओर हाथ उठाऊं, तब मेरी प्रार्थनाओं की आवाज सुन।

1 To you I will cry, O Lord my Rock; do not be silent to me; lest, if you are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.

2 Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to you, when I lift up my hands toward your sacred oracle.

3 Do not cast me away with the wicked and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but evil is in their hearts.

4 Repay them according to their works and according to the wickedness of their efforts; give them according to the work of their hands; send them their recompense.

5 Because they have not regarded the works of the Lord, nor the work of his hands; therefore he will tear them down and not rebuild them.

6 Blessed be the Lord, for he has heard the voice of my supplications.

7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart rejoices, and with my song I will praise him.

8 The Lord is the strength of his people; he is also the saving strength of his anointed.

9 Save your people, and bless your inheritance; feed them and exalt them forever.

1 A Ti clamarei, ó Senhor, Rocha minha; não emudeças para comigo; não suceda, calando-te tu a meu respeito, que eu me torne semelhante aos que descem à cova.

2 Ouve a voz das minhas súplicas, quando a ti clamar, quando levantar as minhas mãos para o oráculo do teu santuário.

3 Não me arremesses com os ímpios e com os que praticam a iniqüidade; que falam de paz ao seu próximo, mas têm o mal nos seus corações.

4 Retribui-lhes segundo as suas obras e segundo a malícia dos seus esforços; dá-lhes conforme a obra das suas mãos; envia-lhes a sua recompensa.

5 Porquanto não atentaram para as obras do Senhor, nem para o que as suas mãos têm feito; pelo que ele os derrubará e não os reedificará.

6 Bendito seja o Senhor, porque ouviu a voz das minhas súplicas.

7 O Senhor é a minha força e o meu escudo; nele confiou o meu coração, e fui socorrido: pelo que o meu coração salta de prazer, e com o meu canto o louvarei.

1 यहोवा मेरा प्रकाश और मेरा उद्धार है; मैं किससे डरूं? यहोवा मेरे जीवन की शक्ति है; मैं किससे डरूं?

2 जब दुष्ट, मेरे विरोधी और मेरे शत्रु, मेरा मांस खाने के लिए मुझ पर चढ़ आए, तो वे ठोकर खाकर गिर पड़े।

3 चाहे सेना मुझे घेर ले, तो भी मेरा मन नहीं डरेगा; चाहे युद्ध मेरे विरुद्ध हो, तो भी मैं उस पर भरोसा रखूंगा।

4 मैंने यहोवा से एक बात मांगी है, और उसी की खोज में लगा रहूंगा: कि मैं अपने जीवन भर यहोवा के भवन में निवास करूं, कि यहोवा की सुन्दरता को निहारूं, और उसके मन्दिर में पूछताछ करूं।

12 मुझे मेरे शत्रुओं की इच्छा पर न छोड़, क्योंकि झूठे साक्षी और क्रूरता की साँस लेनेवाले मेरे विरुद्ध उठे हैं। 

13 यदि मैं यह विश्वास न करता कि मैं जीवितों की भूमि में यहोवा की भलाई देखूंगा, तो मैं निश्चय नाश हो जाता।

 14 यहोवा की बाट जोहता रह; हियाव बान्ध, और वह तेरे मन को दृढ़ करेगा; इसलिये यहोवा की बाट जोहता रह।

Trust in God and Long for His Presence

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, my adversaries and my enemies, came upon me to devour my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though an army should surround me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in him will I trust.

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he will hide me in his pavilion; in the secret place of his tabernacle he will hide me; he will set me up upon a rock.

6 My head also shall be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer sacrifices of joy in his tabernacle; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

7 Hear, O LORD, my voice when I call; be merciful also unto me, and answer me.

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, O LORD, will I seek.

9 Hide not thy face from me, neither cast away thy servant in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 For when my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of them that watch for me.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: For false witnesses have risen up against me, and they that breathe out cruelty.

13 I should surely perish, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait therefore on the Lord.

1 O Senhor é a minha luz e a minha salvação; a quem temerei? O Senhor é a força da minha vida; de quem me recearei?

2 Quando os malvados, meus adversários e meus inimigos, investiram contra mim, para comerem as minhas carnes, tropeçaram e caíram.

3 Ainda que um exército me cercasse, o meu coração não temeria: ainda que a guerra se levantasse contra mim, nele confiaria.

4 Uma coisa pedi ao Senhor, e a buscarei: que possa morar na casa do Senhor todos os dias da minha vida, para contemplar a formosura do Senhor, e aprender no seu templo.

5 Porque no dia da adversidade me esconderá no seu pavilhão: no oculto do seu tabernáculo me esconderá: pôr-me-á sobre uma rocha.

6 Também a minha cabeça será exaltada sobre os meus inimigos que estão ao redor de mim: pelo que oferecerei sacrifício de júbilo no seu tabernáculo, cantarei, sim, cantarei louvores ao Senhor.

7 Ouve, Senhor, a minha voz quando clamo; tem também piedade de mim, e responde-me.

8 Quando tu disseste: Buscai o meu rosto; o meu coração te disse a ti:  O teu rosto, Senhor, buscarei.

9 Não escondas de mim a tua face, não rejeites ao teu servo com ira: Tu foste a minha ajuda, não me deixes nem me desampares, ó Deus da minha salvação.

10 Porque, quando meu pai e minha mãe me desampararem, o Senhor me recolherá.

11 Ensina-me, Senhor, o teu caminho, e guia-me pela vereda direita, por causa dos que me andam espiando.

12 Não me entregues à vontade dos meus adversários; pois se levantaram falsas testemunhas contra mim, e os que respiram crueldade.

13 Pereceria sem dúvida, se não cresse que veria os bens do Senhor na terra dos viventes.

14 Espera no Senhor, anima-te, e ele fortalecerá o teu coração; espera pois no Senhor.
