II Chronicles 14 Asa Reigns and Defeats Zerah the Ethiopian

 II Chronicles 14

Asa Reigns and Defeats Zerah the Ethiopian

1 Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days the land had peace for ten years.

2 Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.

3 He took away the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, broke down the sacred stones, and cut down the Asherah poles.

4 He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to keep the law and the commandment.

5 He also took away the high places and the images of the sun from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet before him.

6 He built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest, and there was no war against him in those years, because the LORD had given him rest.

7 Then he said to Judah, "Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars, while the land is still before us, for we seek the LORD our God; we sought him, and he has given us rest all around." They built and prospered.

8 Now Asa had an army of three hundred thousand from Judah who carried shields and spears, and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin who carried shields and drew bows; all these were valiant men.

9 Then Zerah the Ethiopian went out against them with an army of a thousand thousand and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.

10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah, near Mareshah.

11 Then Asa cried out to the LORD his God and said, "Lord, there is no help for you, whether the mighty or the weak; help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you, and in your name we come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let no man prevail against you.

12 And the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

13 And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them as far as Gerar, and so many of the Ethiopians fell that there was no strength left in them; for they were defeated before the Lord and before his army, and they took away from there very much spoil.

14 And they attacked all the cities around Gerar, for the terror of the Lord was upon them; and they plundered all the cities, because there was much spoil in them.

15 They also attacked the cattle pens, and took away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.

II Crônicas 14 Asa reina, e vence a Zerá, o etíope

II Crônicas 14

Asa reina, e vence a Zerá, o etíope

4 और अबिय्याह एप्रैम के पहाड़ी देश के समारैम नाम पहाड़ पर खड़ा होकर कहने लगा, हे यारोबाम, हे सब इस्राएल, मेरी सुनो;

6 परन्तु नबात का पुत्र यारोबाम जो दाऊद के पुत्र सुलैमान का दास या, उठकर अपके स्वामी से बलवा करने लगा;

II Chronicles 13 Abijah Reigns and Fights Against Jeroboam

 II Chronicles 13

Abijah Reigns and Fights Against Jeroboam

1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam Abijah reigned over Israel.

2 He reigned in Jerusalem three years; and his mother's name was Milcaiah, the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3 And Abijah put in array for battle with an army of warlike men, four hundred thousand chosen men; and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, all of them valiant men.

4 Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, "Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel!

5 Should you not know that the LORD, the God of Israel, gave the kingship over Israel to David forever, to him and to his sons, by a covenant of salt?

6 But Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master.

7 And base men, the sons of Belial, gathered themselves to him, and strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, while Rehoboam was still young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.

8 And now you intend to fight against the kingdom of the Lord, which is in the hand of the sons of David; indeed you are a great multitude, and you have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

9 Have you not driven out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves, as the people of other lands do? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a bullock and seven rams immediately becomes a priest of those who are no gods.

10 But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken Him. The priests who minister to the Lord are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites are at their service.

11 They burn burnt offerings to the Lord morning and evening, and sweet incense, and they set out the showbread on the pure table, and the golden lampstand and its lamps to be lit every evening, for we have kept the service of the Lord our God; but you have forsaken Him.

12 And behold, God is with us in front, and His priests blowing the trumpets to give an alarm against you, O children of Israel. Do not fight against the Lord, the God of your fathers, for you will not prosper.

13 But Jeroboam set an ambush around them to attack them from behind, so that they were in front of Judah, and the ambush was behind them.

14 Then Judah looked, and behold, the battle was before and behind them. Then they cried out to the Lord, and the priests blew the trumpets.

15 And the men of Judah shouted: and it came to pass, when the men of Judah shouted, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16 And the children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into his hand.

17 So Abijah and his people smote them greatly: for there fell slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

18 And the children of Israel were slain at that time: and the children of Judah prevailed, because they trusted in the Lord, the God of their fathers.

19 And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took Bethel with its towns, and Ephron with its towns.

20 Jeroboam did not regain any strength in the days of Abijah, but the Lord struck him, and he died.

21 Abijah became strong and married fourteen wives, and had twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

22 Now the rest of the acts of Abijah, his ways and his words, are written in the history of the prophet Iddo.

6 Contudo levantou-se Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, servo de Salomão, filho de Davi, e se rebelou contra seu senhor;

II Chronicles 12 God Punishes Rehoboam for Idolatry

 II Chronicles 12

God Punishes Rehoboam for Idolatry

1 Now it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had become strong, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

2 So it came to pass in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD.

3 With twelve hundred chariots, and with sixty thousand horsemen; and the multitude that came with him out of Egypt, of the Libyans, the Sukkites, and the Ethiopians, were innumerable.

4 And he took the fenced cities that Judah had, and came to Jerusalem.

5 Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together in Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me; therefore I have also forsaken you into the hand of Shishak.

6 Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The Lord is righteous.”

7 When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: “They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them; but I will quickly give them a place to escape, so that My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8 But they will be his servants, so that they may know the difference between My servitude and the servitude of the kingdoms of the earth.”

9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem and took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house; he took everything; he also took the shields of gold that Solomon had made.

10 And King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place and put them in the hands of the captains of the guard who kept the door of the king’s house.

11 And it came to pass, when the king came into the house of the LORD, that the guard came and brought them, and put them again in the guard chamber.

12 And when he humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him, that he should not utterly destroy him: for there were good things in Judah.

13 And King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned. Now Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

14 And he did that which was evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.

15 Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the books of Shemaiah the prophet and Iddo the seer, registered by genealogy? And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

16 So Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And Abijah his son reigned in his place.

18 और रहूबियाम ने दाऊद के पुत्र यरीमोत की बेटी महलत को अपनी पत्नी कर लिया; और अबीएल को, जो एलीआब की बेटी और यिशै का पोता था;

II Chronicles 11 All who fear God come to Jerusalem

 II Chronicles 11

All who fear God come to Jerusalem

13 Also the priests and the Levites who were throughout all Israel gathered themselves to him from all their territories.

14 For the Levites left their suburbs and their possessions and came to Judah and Jerusalem (for Jeroboam and his sons had driven them out, so that they would not minister to the Lord.

15 And he appointed for himself priests for the high places, and for the demons, and for the calves which he had made).

16 After them also from all the tribes of Israel, those who set their hearts to seek the Lord God of Israel came to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices to the Lord God of their fathers.

17 So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and strengthened Rehoboam the son of Solomon for three years, for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.

18 And Rehoboam took to wife Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse:

19 And she bare him sons, Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.

20 And after her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom: and she bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.

21 And Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom more than all his other wives and concubines: for he had taken eighteen wives, and sixty concubines; and he begat twenty and eight sons, and sixty daughters.

22 And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maacah chief, to be prince among his brethren: for he desired to make him king.

23 And he dealt wisely, and scattered some of all his children throughout all the land of Judah and Benjamin, throughout all the fenced cities; and he gave them food in abundance, and procured them many wives.

18 E Roboão tomou para si, por mulher, a Maalate, filha de Jerimote, filho de Davi; e a Abiail, filha de Eliabe, filho de Jessé;

19 A qual lhe deu filhos, a Jéus, e a Samarias, e a Zaão.

II Chronicles 11 God forbids war against the ten tribes

 II Chronicles 11

God forbids war against the ten tribes

1 So Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, and gathered together from the house of Judah and Benjamin one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, skilled in war, to fight against Israel, and to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.

2 But the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

3 Speak to Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

4 Thus says the Lord: You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren; return every man to his house; for this thing proceedeth from me. And they hearkened to the words of the Lord, and turned back from going against Jeroboam.

5 And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities fortified cities in Judah.

6 And he built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,

7 And Beth-zur, and Socoh, and Adullam,

8 And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,

9 And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,

10 And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which were in Judah and Benjamin: fortified cities.

11 And he fortified these fortified cities, and put princes in them, and storehouses of food, and of oil, and of wine.

12 And he put bucklers and spears in every city; he fortified them greatly: and Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.

II Crônicas 11

Deus proíbe fazer guerra contra as dez tribos

6 Edificou pois a Belém, e a Etã, e a Tecoa,

7 E a Bete-Zur, e a Socó, e a Adulão,

8 E a Gate, e a Maressa, e a Zife,

9 E a Adoraim. E a Laquis, e a Azeca,

II Chronicles 10 The Revolt of the Ten Tribes of Israel

 II Chronicles 10

The Revolt of the Ten Tribes of Israel

1 Now Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.

2 Now it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it, (who was then in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon,) that Jeroboam returned from Egypt.

3 For they sent to him, and summoned him: and Jeroboam came with all Israel, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,

4 Thy father made our yoke hard: now therefore lighten the hard bondage of thy father, and the heavy yoke which he put upon us, that we may serve thee.

5 And he said unto them, Come again to me in three days. And the people departed.

6 And Rehoboam took counsel with the elders that had stood before Solomon his father all his days, saying, What advise ye to answer this people?

7 And they said to him, If thou wilt be kind and gracious to this people, and wilt speak good words to them, then they shall be thy servants for ever.

8 But he forsook the counsel which the elders had given him, and took counsel with the young men that were grown up with him, and stood before him.

9 And he said to them, What counsel do ye that we should give answer to this people, who spake unto me, saying, Lighten us the yoke which thy father put upon us?

10 And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou say unto this people, who spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but thou make it light. Thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger is thicker than my father's loins.

11 So my father made you bear a heavy yoke, but I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with stripes, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king had commanded, saying, "Come back to me on the third day."

13 And the king answered them harshly, "Because King Rehoboam has forsaken the advice of the elders."

14 And he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavier, but I will add to it: my father chastised you with stripes, but I will chastise you with scorpions."

15 So the king did not listen to the people, because this change was from God, that the Lord might fulfill His word, which He had spoken through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

16 When all Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people answered the king, “What share have we in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse; let Israel go every man to his tent! Now look to your house, O David.” So all Israel went to their tents.

17 But as for the children of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

18 Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was in charge of the taxes; but the children of Israel stoned him with stones, and he died. Then King Rehoboam hurriedly got into his chariot and fled to Jerusalem.

19 So the Israelites rebelled against the house of David to this day.

5 E ele lhes disse: Daqui a três dias tornai a mim.
