Boaz house with Ruth
1 And Boaz went up to the door, and sat there: and, behold, the patch that Boaz had spoken of is passing by, and said to him, O so-and-so, turn aside here, sit here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
2 Then he took ten men from the city officials, and said, Sit down here. And they sat down.
3 Then he said to the redeemer, That part of the land that belonged to Elimelech, our brother, Naomi, who returned from the land of the Moabites, sold it.
4 And I said, I will manifest it in your ears, saying, Take it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people; if you are to redeem it, redeem it, and if you are not to redeem it, declare it to me so that I may know it, for there is none other than you who redeem it, and I after you. Then he said, I will redeem you.
5 But Boaz said, On the day you take the land out of Naomi's hand, you will also take it out of the hand of Ruth, the Moabite, wife of the deceased, to raise the name of the deceased on his estate.
6 Then the redeemer said, “I cannot redeem it for myself, lest my estate be damaged: you redeem my remission for yourself, because I cannot redeem it.
7 There was, therefore, a long time ago this custom in Israel, as for the remission and contract, to sign the whole business, that the man took off his shoes and gave it to his neighbor: and this was by witness in Israel.
8 So the redeemer said to Boaz, Take it for yourself. And took off his shoe.
9 Then Boaz said to the elders and to all the people, You are witnesses today that I took all that was from Elimelech, and from Chiliom, and from Malom, out of Naomi's hand,
10 And that I also take Ruth, the Moabite, who was Malom's wife, as wife, to raise the name of the deceased on his estate, lest the deceased's name be uprooted from among his brothers and from the gate of his place; you are witnesses of this today.
11 And all the people at the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses: the Lord make this woman, who comes into your house, like Rachel and like Leah, who both built the house of Israel; and there is already you valiantly in Ephrata, and make yourself a famous name in Bethlehem.
12 And let your house be like the house of Perez (which Tamar had from Judah), of the seed that the Lord gives you of this girl.
