Expiação por uma morte cujo autor é desconhecido
1 Quando na terra que te der o Senhor teu Deus para possuí-la se achar algum morto, caído no campo, sem que se saiba quem o matou.
2 Então sairão os teus anciãos e os teus juízes, e medirão o espaço até às cidades que estiverem em redor do morto;
3 E, na cidade mais chegada ao morto, os anciãos da mesma cidade tomarão uma bezerra da manada, que não tenha trabalhado nem tenha puxado com o jugo;
4 E os anciãos daquela cidade trarão a bezerra a um vale áspero, que nunca foi lavrado nem semeado; e ali, naquele vale, degolarão a bezerra;
5 Então se achegarão os sacerdotes, filhos de Levi ( pois o Senhor teu Deus os escolheu para o servirem, e para abençoarem em nome do Senhor; e pelo seu dito se determinará toda a demanda e toda a ferida);
6 E todos os anciãos da mesma cidade, mais chegado ao morto lavarão as suas mãos sobre a bezerra degolada no vale;
7 E protestarão, e dirão: As nossas mãos não derramaram este sangue, e os nossos olhos o não viram.
8 Sê propício ao teu povo Israel, que tu, ó Senhor, resgataste, e não ponhas o sangue inocente no meio do teu povo Israel. E aquele sangue lhes será expiado.
9 Assim tirarás o sangue inocente do meio de ti: pois farás o que é reto aos olhos do Senhor.

1 When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots, and the people greater than you, you shall have no fear of them; For the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you.
2 And it shall come to pass, when ye come near to the battle, that the priest shall come forward, and shall speak to the people.
3 And he shall say unto her, Hear, O Israel, this day draw nigh unto battle against your enemies: that if your heart be not softened, fear neither tremble, nor be terrified before them;
4 For the LORD your God is going with you to fight against your enemies to save you.
5 Then shall the officers speak unto the people, saying, Which man hath built a new house, and not yet consecrated it? go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and some other to consecrate.
6 And which man has planted a vineyard, and yet has not obtained fruit from it? go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and some other man to deceive him.
7 And who is the man that is betrothed to a woman, and yet has not received her? Go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and some other man receive it.
8 And the officers shall continue to speak to the people, saying, What is a fearful and timid-hearted man? go and return to your house, that your brethren's heart may not melt like your heart.
9 And it shall come to pass, that when the officers are finished speaking to the people, then they shall appoint the chief of hosts to the head of the people.
10 When you come to any city to fight it, you will proclaim its peace.
11 And if he answer thee in peace, and open thee, all the people that are found therein shall be a tribute unto thee, and shall serve thee.
12 But if she does not make peace with you, but makes war with you first, then you will besiege her.
13 And the Lord your God will give it into your hand; and every man that is therein shall pass to the edge of the sword,
14 Except only women, and children, and animals; and all that is in the city, and all its spoil, shall thou take unto thee; And thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which Jehovah thy God hath given thee.
15 Thus shalt thou do to all the cities that are far from thee, but not of the cities of these nations.
16 But of the cities of these nations, which the LORD thy God shall give unto thee for an inheritance, nothing that hath breath you shall leave alive:
17 But destroy them utterly: to the Hittites, and to the Amorites, and to the Canaanites, and to the Perizzites, and to the Hivites, and to the Jebusites, as the LORD thy God commanded thee.
18 That they may not teach you to do according to all their abominations that they have done to their gods, and to sin against the LORD your God.
19 When you besiege a city for many days, fighting against it to take it, you shall not destroy its grove, and put an ax in it, because thou shalt eat it: and thou shalt not cut it down; to act as junk before you.
20 But the trees which you know are not eating trees will destroy them and cut them down: and against the city which they fight against you, you will build strongholds until it is cut down.

2 E será que, quando vos achegardes à peleja, o sacerdote se adiantará, e falará ao povo.
3 E dir-lhe-à: Ouve,ó Israel, hoje vos achegais à peleja contra os vossos inimigos: que se não amoleça o vosso coração, não temais nem tremais, nem vos aterrorizeis diante deles,
4 Pois o Senhor vosso Deus é o que vai convosco, a pelejar contra os vossos inimigos, para salvar-vos.
5 Então os oficiais falarão ao povo, dizendo: Qual é o homem que edificou casa nova e ainda a não consagrou? vá, e torne-se à sua casa, para que porventura não morra na peleja e algum outro a consagre.
6 E qual o homem que plantou uma vinha e ainda não logrou fruto dela? vá, e torne-se à sua casa, para que porventura não morra na peleja e algum outro o logre.
7 E qual é o homem que está desposado com alguma mulher e ainda a não recebeu? vá, e torne-se à sua casa, para que porventura não morra na peleja e algum outro homem a receba.

11 E será que, se te responder em paz e te abrir, todo o povo que se achar nela te será tributário e te servirá.
12 Porém, se ela não fizer paz contigo, mas antes te fizer guerra, então a sitiarás.
13 E o Senhor teu Deus a dará na tua mão; e todo o varão que houver nela passarás ao fio da espada,
14 Salvo somente as mulheres, e as crianças, e os animais; e tudo o que houver na cidade, todo o seu despojo, tomarás para ti; e comerás o despojo dos teus inimigos, que te deu o Senhor teu Deus.
15 Assim farás a todas as cidades que estiverem mui longe de ti, que não forem das cidades destas nações.
16 Porém, das cidades destas nações, que o Senhor teu Deus te dá em herança, nenhuma coisa que tem fôlego deixarás com vida:
17 Antes destruí-las-às totalmente: aos heteus, e aos amorreus, e aos cananeus, e aos ferezeus, e aos heveus, e aos jebuseus, como te ordenou o Senhor teu Deus,
18 Para que vos não ensinem a fazer conforme a todas as suas abominações que fizeram a seus deuses, e pequeis contra o Senhor vosso Deus.
19 Quando sitiares uma cidade por muitos dias, pelejando contra ela para a tomar, não destruirás o seu arvoredo, metendo nele o machado, porque dele comerás: pelo que o não cortarás ( pois o arvoredo do campo é o mantimento do homem), para que sirva de tranqueira diante de ti.
20 Mas as árvores que souberes que não são árvores de comer destruí-las-às e cortá-las-às: e contra a cidade que guerrear contra ti edificarás baluartes, até que esta seja derrubada.

1 When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God shall give thee, and thou shalt possess them, and dwell in their cities and in their houses;
2 Thou shalt separate three cities in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God shall give thee to possess it.
3 Thou shalt prepare the way for thee; and the borders of your land which the LORD your God will possess shall you break in three: and this shall be, that every murderer may stand there.
4 And this is the case concerning the murderer, who is staying there to live: he who by error strikes his neighbor, whom he did not hate before:
5 As one who enters with his neighbor into the forest to chop wood; and when he puts his ax in his hand to cut down the tree, the iron leaps from its hilt and strikes its neighbor, and dies, he will live in one of these cities and live:
6 That the avenger of blood should not go after the murderer, when his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and his life is cut off from him; because it is not guilty of death, because it did not bother him before.
7 Therefore I command you, saying, Three cities shall you separate.
8 And if the LORD your God shall enlarge your borders, as he swore to your fathers, and give you all the land that he said to his fathers.
9 (When thou keepest these commandments which I command thee this day to do them, loving the LORD thy God, and walking in his ways daily; then thou shalt add three other cities besides these three;
10 So that innocent blood may not be shed in the midst of your land, which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance, and blood on you.
11 But when any man hates his neighbor, and lays snares at him, he rises up against him, and strikes him in life, so that he may die and take refuge in any of these cities.
12 Then shall the elders of his city command, and shall take him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
13 Your eye will not spare him; but thou shalt draw the innocent blood of Israel, that it may be well with you.

16 According to all that thou hast asked the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the congregation, saying, I will not hearken unto the voice of the LORD my God, neither shall I see this great fire, that it die not.

18 Behold, I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, as thou, and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command.
19 And whosoever shall not hear my words, that he shall speak in my name, I will require him of him.
20 But the prophet who proudly presumes to speak a word in my name, whom I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.
21 And if ye shall say in your heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
22 When such a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and such a word is not fulfilled, and it is not so, this is a word which the Lord hath not spoken: with pride hath the prophet spoken: have no fear of him.

The inheritance and rights of priests and Levites
1 The Levite priests, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part or inheritance in Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and their inheritance.
2 Therefore he shall have no inheritance among his brethren: the LORD is his inheritance, as he hath said unto him.
3 For this shall be the right of the priests to receive of the people, of them that sacrifice sacrifices, whether ox or small cattle, which shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the jawbone, and the horn.
4 Thou shalt give him the firstfruits of thy grain, thy wort, and thy oil, and the firstfruits of the shearing of thy sheep.
5 For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, that he may serve in the name of the LORD he and his children daily.
6 And when a Levite cometh from any of thy gates, out of all Israel, where he dwells, and cometh with all the desire of his soul unto the place which the LORD hath chosen.
7 And to serve in the name of the LORD their God, and all their brethren the Levites that stand before the LORD;
8 Equal portion will eat, in addition to the sales of its patrimony.
