Ruth 02
Boaz speaks to Ruth benignly
Then Boaz said to Ruth, Don't you hear, my daughter? you will not go to another field, nor go from here: but here you will gather with my girls:
Your eyes will be on the field they reap, and you will go after them; did I not give orders to the young men not to touch you? When you are thirsty, go to the pots and drink what the young men take away.
Then she fell on her face, and bowed to the ground: and said to him, Why have I found grace in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, being a foreigner?
And Boaz answered and said to her, It was well told me how much you did to your mother-in-law after the death of your husband: and you left your father and mother, and the land where you were born, and came to a people who were not did you meet.
The Lord reward your achievement: and your reward from the Lord God of Israel be fulfilled, under whose wings you have come to shelter.
And she said, I find favor in your eyes, my lord, for you have comforted me, and you have spoken to the heart of your servant, neither being I nor even one of your servants.
And when it was time to eat, Boaz said to him, "Come here, and eat bread, and dip your mouthful in vinegar." And she sat down beside the reapers, and he gave her toasted wheat, and she ate, and she was satisfied, and she still had plenty.
And when she got up with a spoon, Boaz gave orders to her young men, saying, "Even among the drawers, let it be picked up, and do not stop it."
And let a few handfuls fall, and let them stay, that I may reap, and do not reprove.
And she was beaten up in that field until late in the afternoon: and threshed what she picked up and it was almost an ephah of barley.
And he took it, came into the city; and his mother-in-law saw what he had caught: he also took it away and gave him what he had left after he had had enough.
Then his mother-in-law said, Where did you harvest today, and where did you work? Blessed is he who recognized you. And he reported to his mother-in-law with whom he had worked, and said, The name of the man I worked with today is Boaz.
Then Naomi said to her daughter-in-law: Blessed be the Lord, who has not yet left his beneficence to the living or the dead. More Naomi said to him, This man is our close relative, and one of our redeemers.
And Ruth the Moabite said, "He also said to me, 'With the young men that I have, you shall gather together until all the harvest that I have is finished.
And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, Ruth, It is better, my daughter, that you go out with your girls, lest they find you in another field.
So he got together with the girls of Boaz, to harvest until the harvest of barley and wheat was finished; and stayed with your mother-in-law.
