Abimelech's death

50 Then Abimelech went to Thebes, and besieged Thebes, and took her.

51 But there was a strong tower in the middle of the city; and all the men and women, and all the citizens of the city, took refuge in it, and closed the doors after themselves, and went up to the roof of the tower.

52 And Abimelech came up to the tower, and fought it: and he came to the gate of the tower to burn it with fire.

53 But a woman threw a piece of a millstone on Abimelech's head: and broke his skull.

54 Then he immediately called the boy, who was carrying his weapons, and said to him, Draw your sword, and kill me; lest it be said of me: A woman killed him. And his boy went through him, and he died.

55 And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was already slain, each one went to his place.

56 So God did to Abimelech the evil that he had done to his father, by killing his seventy brothers.

57 As well as all the evil of the men of Shechem made it upon their heads: and the curse of Jotham, son of Jerubaal, came upon them.
