Leviticus 23
The Day of Atonement
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
But on the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the day of atonement: ye shall have a holy convocation, and ye shall afflict your souls; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
And in that day you shall do no work, because it is the day of atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord your God.
For every soul that shall not afflict itself in that same day shall be cut off from among its people.
And all the soul that worketh that same day, that soul will I destroy out of the midst of his people.
Ye shall do no work: a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
A sabbath of rest will be to you; then ye shall afflict your souls: on the ninth day of the month in the evening, from evening to evening, you shall keep your sabbath.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of the tabernacles unto the Lord seven days.
On the first day there shall be a holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work.
Seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall ye be a holy convocation, and offer burnt offerings unto the LORD: ye shall do no servile work.
These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim unto holy convocations, to offer the LORD a burnt offering, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, and a drink offering, and drink offerings, every one in his own day:
And besides the sabbaths of Jehovah, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and over all your willing offerings, which ye shall give unto the LORD.
But on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered the newness of the land, you shall keep the feast of the LORD seven days; On the first day there will be rest, and on the eighth day there will be rest.
And on the first day ye shall take unto you branches of fair trees, branches of palms, branches of thick trees, and willows of rivers; and ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days.
And ye shall keep this feast unto the Lord seven days a year: a statute for ever throughout your generations; in the seventh month ye shall keep it.
Seven days shalt thou live under tents: all the inhabitants of Israel shall dwell in tents:
That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in tents, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.
And Moses spoke the solemnities of Jehovah unto the children of Israel.
