1 तब यहोवा का वचन मेरे पास आया,

2 हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, यरूशलेम को उसके घिनौने कामों के बारे में बता।

3 और कहो, यहोवा परमेश्वर यरूशलेम से यह कहता है: तुम्हारा जन्म और तुम्हारी शुरुआत कनानियों के देश से हुई है; तुम्हारा पिता एक एमोरी था, और तुम्हारी माँ एक हित्ती थी।

4 और तुम्हारे जन्म के दिन, तुम्हारी नाल नहीं काटी गई, न तुम्हें शुद्ध करने के लिए पानी से धोया गया; न तुम्हें नमक से रगड़ा गया, न ही कपड़े में लपेटा गया।

5 किसी ने तुम पर दया नहीं की, कि तुम्हारे लिए ये सब काम किए जाएं; बल्कि जिस दिन तुम पैदा हुए, उसी दिन तुम्हारी आत्मा की नफ़रत की वजह से तुम्हें खुले मैदान में फेंक दिया गया।

6 और जब मैं तुम्हारे पास से गुज़रा, तो मैंने तुम्हें खून से सना हुआ देखा, और मैंने तुमसे कहा, “भले ही तुम अपने खून में हो, तो ज़िंदा रहो!” हाँ, मैंने तुमसे कहा, “भले ही तुम अपने खून में हो, तो ज़िंदा रहो!”

7 मैंने तुम्हें खेत की टहनियों की तरह बढ़ाया; तुम बढ़ीं और लंबी हो गईं और बहुत खूबसूरत हो गईं। तुम्हारे स्तन बढ़े और तुम्हारे बाल लंबे हो गए, लेकिन तुम नंगी और नग्न थीं।

8 जब मैं तुम्हारे पास से गुज़रा और तुम्हें देखा, तो तुम्हारे प्यार का समय आ गया था; इसलिए मैंने अपने कपड़े का किनारा तुम्हारे ऊपर फैलाया और तुम्हारा नंगापन ढक दिया। मैंने तुमसे कसम खाई और तुम्हारे साथ एक वादा किया, यह प्रभु यहोवा की वाणी है, और तुम मेरी हो गईं।

10 मैंने तुम्हें कढ़ाई वाले कपड़े पहनाए, तुम्हें सूइसों की खाल के जूते पहनाए, तुम्हें बढ़िया लिनन की कमरबंद पहनाई और तुम्हें रेशम से ढक दिया।

11 मैंने तुम्हें गहने पहनाए, तुम्हारे हाथों में कंगन और गले में हार पहनाया।

12 मैंने तुम्हारे माथे पर एक गहना, तुम्हारे कानों में बालियाँ और तुम्हारे सिर पर शान का ताज पहनाया।

13 और इसलिए तुम सोने और चांदी से सजी हुई थीं, और तुम्हारे कपड़े बढ़िया लिनन, रेशम और कढ़ाई के थे; तुम बढ़िया आटा, शहद और तेल खाती थीं; और तुम बहुत खूबसूरत थीं, और तुम कामयाब होती गईं, जब तक कि तुम रानी नहीं बन गईं।

14 और तुम्हारी खूबसूरती की वजह से तुम्हारी शोहरत दूसरे देशों में फैल गई, क्योंकि यह एकदम सही थी, उस शान की वजह से जो मैंने तुम्हें दी थी, यहोवा परमेश्वर की यही वाणी है।

15 लेकिन तुमने अपनी खूबसूरती पर भरोसा किया और अपनी शोहरत की वजह से बिगड़ गईं; तुमने हर आने-जाने वाले के साथ अपनी देह व्यापार किया, ताकि तुम उनकी हो जाओ।

16 और तुमने अपने कुछ कपड़े लेकर अपने लिए अलग-अलग रंगों से सजी ऊंची जगहें बनाईं, और उन पर व्यभिचार किया; ऐसी बातें न तो कभी हुईं, और न कभी होंगी।

17 और तुमने अपने गहने, जो मैंने तुम्हें अपने सोने और चाँदी से दिए थे, ले लिए, और आदमियों की मूर्तियाँ बनाईं, और उनके साथ वेश्यावृत्ति की।

18 तब तुमने अपने कढ़ाई वाले कपड़े लेकर उन्हें पहना दिए, और मेरा तेल और मेरा इत्र उनके सामने रख दिया।

19 और जो रोटी मैंने तुम्हें दी थी, यानी मैदा, तेल और शहद, जिनसे मैंने तुम्हें खिलाया था, उसे भी तुमने उनके सामने अच्छी खुशबू के तौर पर रखा; और ऐसा ही हुआ, यहोवा परमेश्वर की यही वाणी है।

20 और तुमने अपने बेटे-बेटियों को, जिन्हें तुमने मुझसे जन्म दिया था, उन्हें भी बलि चढ़ा दिया ताकि वे भस्म हो जाएं। क्या तुम्हारा वेश्यावृत्ति करना कोई छोटी बात है?

21 और तुमने मेरे बच्चों को मार डाला और उन्हें आग में झोंकने के लिए उनके हवाले कर दिया।

22 और अपने सभी घिनौने कामों और वेश्यावृत्ति में, तुमने अपनी जवानी के दिनों को याद नहीं किया, जब तुम नंगी और बिना कपड़ों के थी, और अपने खून से सनी हुई थी।

23 और तुम्हारी सारी बुराई के बाद ऐसा हुआ (हाय! हाय तुम पर! प्रभु परमेश्वर की यही वाणी है),

24 तूने सब सड़कों पर ऊंचे स्थान बनाए और ऊंचे स्थान बनाए।

25 हर गली के कोने पर तुमने अपनी ऊँची जगह बनाई, और अपनी खूबसूरती को घिनौना बनाया, और हर आने-जाने वाले के सामने अपने पैर फैलाए: और अपनी वेश्यावृत्ति को बढ़ाया।

26 तुमने अपने पड़ोसी मिस्रियों के साथ भी वेश्यावृत्ति की, जो बहुत मोटे थे, और तुमने अपनी वेश्यावृत्ति को बढ़ाया। ताकि मुझे गुस्सा दिला सको।

29 तुमने कनान देश में कसदियों तक वेश्यावृत्ति जारी रखी, और उससे भी तुम्हारा मन नहीं भरा।

30 प्रभु परमेश्वर कहता है, तुम्हारा दिल कितना कमज़ोर है कि तुम ये सब काम एक घमंडी वेश्या के काम कर रही हो!

31 जब तुमने हर गली के कोने पर अपनी तिजोरी बनाई, और हर चौराहे पर अपनी जगह बनाई, तो तुम वेश्या जैसी भी नहीं थीं, क्योंकि तुमने पैसे को तुच्छ समझा था।

32 तुम उस बदचलन औरत की तरह हो जो अपने पति के बजाय अनजान लोगों को अपनाती है।

33 सभी वेश्याओं को पैसे मिलते हैं, लेकिन तुम अपने सभी प्रेमियों को तोहफ़े देती हो; तुम उन्हें तोहफ़े इसलिए देती हो ताकि वे तुम्हारी वेश्यावृत्ति के कारण हर तरफ़ से तुम्हारे पास आएं।

34 इस तरह, तुम्हारे साथ दूसरी औरतों के मुकाबले तुम्हारी प्रॉस्टिट्यूशन में उल्टा होता है, क्योंकि वे तुम्हारे पीछे प्रॉस्टिट्यूशन में नहीं जातीं; क्योंकि जब तुम पेमेंट देते हो, और तुम्हें पेमेंट नहीं मिलता, तो तुम उल्टा करते हो।

35 इसलिए, हे वेश्या, यहोवा का वचन सुनो।

38 और मैं तुम्हें ऐसे सज़ा दूँगा जैसे व्यभिचारिणी और खून बहाने वालों को सज़ा दी जाती है; और मैं तुम्हें गुस्से और जलन के खून के हवाले कर दूँगा।

39 और मैं तुम्हें उनके हाथों में सौंप दूँगा, और वे तुम्हारी तिजोरी गिरा देंगे, और तुम्हारी ऊँची जगहों को उलट देंगे, और तुम्हारे कपड़े उतार लेंगे, और तुम्हारे गहने छीन लेंगे, और तुम्हें नंगा और नंगे छोड़ देंगे।

40 तब वे तुम्हारे खिलाफ़ भीड़ इकट्ठा करेंगे, और वे तुम्हें पत्थरों से मारेंगे, और अपनी तलवारों से तुम्हें छेद देंगे।

41 और वे तुम्हारे घरों को आग में जला देंगे, और बहुत सी औरतों के सामने तुम्हारे खिलाफ़ सज़ा देंगे; और मैं तुम्हें वेश्या बनना बंद करवा दूँगा, और तुम और मज़दूरी नहीं दोगी।

42 इसलिए मैं अपना गुस्सा तुम पर रखूंगा, और मेरी जलन तुमसे दूर हो जाएगी; मैं शांत रहूंगा और फिर कभी गुस्सा नहीं करूंगा।

43 क्योंकि तुमने अपनी जवानी के दिन याद नहीं रखे, और तुमने इन सब बातों से मुझे गुस्सा दिलाया, इसलिए देखो, मैं तुम्हारा काम तुम्हारे ही सिर पर लाऊंगा, यहोवा परमेश्वर कहता है, और तुम अपने सभी घिनौने कामों के बारे में ऐसी बुराई नहीं करोगे।

44 देखो, जो लोग कहावतें इस्तेमाल करते हैं, वे तुम्हारे खिलाफ यह कहावत इस्तेमाल करेंगे, 'जैसी माँ वैसी बेटी।'

45 तुम अपनी माँ की बेटी हो, जो अपने पति और बच्चों से नफ़रत करती थी; और तुम अपनी बहनों की बहन हो, जो अपने पति और बच्चों से नफ़रत करती थीं: तुम्हारी माँ हित्ती थी, और तुम्हारा पिता एमोरी था।

46 तुम्हारी बड़ी बहन सामरिया और उसकी बेटियाँ हैं, जो तुम्हारे बाईं ओर रहती हैं; और तुम्हारी छोटी बहन, जो तुम्हारे दाईं ओर रहती है, सदोम और उसकी बेटियाँ हैं।

47 फिर भी तुम उनके रास्तों पर नहीं चले, न ही उनके जैसे घिनौने काम किए; बल्कि, मानो यह बहुत कम था, तुमने अपने सभी तरीकों से खुद को उनसे भी ज़्यादा बिगाड़ लिया है।

48 मेरे जीवन की शपथ, यहोवा की यह वाणी है, तेरी बहन सदोम और उसकी बेटियों ने तेरे और तेरी बेटियों के साथ कुछ नहीं किया।

49 देखो, तुम्हारी बहन सदोम की बुराई यह थी: उसमें और उसकी बेटियों में घमंड, बहुत सारा खाना और बहुत सारा आलस था; लेकिन उसने कभी गरीबों और ज़रूरतमंदों की मदद नहीं की ।

50 और वे घमंडी हो गए और मेरे सामने घिनौने काम करने लगे; इसलिए जब मैंने यह देखा तो मैंने उन्हें वहाँ से हटा दिया।

51 सामरिया ने तुम्हारे पापों का आधा भी नहीं किया; तुमने उनसे भी ज़्यादा घिनौने काम किए, और तुमने अपने सभी घिनौने कामों से अपनी बहनों को सही ठहराया।

52 इसलिए, तूने अपनी बहनों को दोषी ठहराया, अपने पापों के कारण शर्मिंदा हो, जिन्हें तूने उनसे ज़्यादा घिनौना और अपने से ज़्यादा नेक बनाया है; इसलिए तू भी शर्मिंदा हो और शर्मिंदा हो, क्योंकि तूने अपनी बहनों को सही ठहराया है।

53 मैं उनके भाग्य को लौटा लाऊँगा, सदोम और उसकी बेटियों के बंदी, सामरिया और उसकी बेटियों के बंदी, और उनके बीच तुम्हारे बंदी के बंदी;

54 ताकि तुम अपनी बेइज्जती सहो, और अपने किए सब कामों पर शर्मिंदा हो, और उन्हें दिलासा दो।

55 जब तुम्हारी बहनें, सदोम, और उनकी बेटियाँ अपनी पुरानी हालत में लौट जाएँगी, तब तुम और तुम्हारी बेटियाँ भी अपनी पुरानी हालत में लौट आओगे।

56 जब तुम घमंड में थे, तो तुमने अपनी बहन सदोम का भी ज़िक्र नहीं किया।

57 तुम्हारी बुराई का पता चलने से पहले, जैसे सीरिया की बेटियों और उसके आस-पास के सभी लोगों की बुराई के समय, यानी पलिश्तियों की बेटियों ने तुम्हें चारों तरफ से नीचा दिखाया था।

58 “तुम अपनी बुराई और घिनौने कामों को सहोगे,” यहोवा कहता है।

59 क्योंकि प्रभु परमेश्वर यह कहता है: मैं तुम्हारे साथ वैसा ही करूंगा जैसा तुमने किया है , जिसने शपथ को तुच्छ जाना, और वाचा को तोड़ दिया।

60 लेकिन मैं अपना वह वादा याद रखूंगा जो मैंने तुम्हारे साथ तुम्हारी जवानी के दिनों में किया था, और मैं तुम्हारे साथ हमेशा का वादा करूंगा।

1 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

2 Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations.

3 And say, Thus says the Lord God to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth are from the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite, and your mother a Hittite.

4 And as for your birth, on the day you were born your umbilical cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water for purification; nor were you rubbed with salt, nor wrapped in swaddling cloths.

5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you; but you were cast out into the open field, because of the loathing of your soul, on the day you were born.

6 And when I passed by you, I saw you stained with your blood, and I said to you, “Though you are in your blood, live!” Yes, I said to you, “Though you are in your blood, live!”

7 I made you multiply like the shoots of the field; you grew and became tall and reached great beauty. Your breasts developed and your hair grew long, but you were naked and bare.

8 When I passed by you and saw you, your time had come for love; so I spread the edge of my cloak over you and covered your nakedness. I swore an oath to you and made a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

9 Then I washed you with water, and cleansed you of your blood, and anointed you with oil.

10 I clothed you with embroidery, and shod you with badger skin, and girded you with fine linen, and covered you with silk.

11 I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your hands and a necklace around your neck.

12 I put a jewel on your forehead, earrings in your ears, and a crown of glory on your head.

13 And so you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen, silk, and embroidery; you ate fine flour, honey, and oil; and you were exceedingly beautiful, and you prospered, until you became queen.

14 And your fame spread among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect, because of the glory I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord God.

15 But you trusted in your beauty and became corrupt because of your fame; you prostituted yourself to everyone who passed by, to be theirs.

16 And you took some of your garments and made for yourself high places adorned with various colors, and you prostituted yourself on them; such things have not happened, nor will they ever happen.

17 And you took your ornaments, which I gave you from my gold and my silver, and you made images of men, and you prostituted yourself with them.

18 Then you took your embroidered garments and covered them, and you placed my oil and my perfume before them.

19 And my bread that I gave you, the fine flour, and the oil and honey, with which I sustained you, you also placed before them as a pleasing aroma; and so it was, declares the Lord God.

20 Moreover , you took your sons and daughters, whom you bore to me, and sacrificed them to them to be consumed. Is your prostitution a small thing?

21 And you killed my children and handed them over to them to be passed through the fire.

22 And in all your abominations and your prostitutions, you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and uncovered, and stained with your blood.

23 And it came to pass, after all your wickedness (woe! Woe to you! declares the Lord God),

24 You built a vault and made high places in all the streets.

25 At every street corner you built your high place, and made your beauty abominable, and spread your feet to everyone who passed by: and multiplied your prostitutions.

26 You also prostituted yourself with the Egyptians, your neighbors who were very fleshy, and you multiplied your prostitution. To provoke me to anger.

27 Therefore, behold, I have set my hand upon you, and have reduced your portion, and have delivered you into the hands of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your depraved ways.

28 You also prostituted yourself with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; and even after prostituting yourself with them, you were not satisfied;

29 You continued your prostitution in the land of Canaan as far as Chaldea, and even that did not satisfy you.

30 How weak is your heart, declares the Lord God, that you are doing all these things, the work of an imperious harlot!

31 When you built your vault at the corner of every street, and made your place in every public square, you were not even like a prostitute, for you despised payment:

32 You were like the adulterous woman who, instead of her husband, receives strangers.

33 All prostitutes receive payment, but you give gifts to all your lovers; you give them gifts so that they may come to you from all directions because of your prostitution.

34 Thus, the opposite happens with you compared to other women in your prostitution, for they do not go after you to prostitution; because, when you give the payment, and you are not given the payment, you do the opposite.

35 Therefore, you prostitute, hear the word of the Lord.

36 Thus says the Lord God: Because your money has been poured out, and your nakedness has been uncovered in your whoredoms with your lovers, as well as with all the idols of your abominations, and in the blood of your children whom you gave to them:

37 Behold, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have mingled, and all those whom you have loved, with all those whom you have hated, and I will gather them against you all around, and I will uncover your nakedness before them, that they may see all your nakedness.

38 And I will judge you as adulteresses and those who shed blood are judged; and I will deliver you over to the blood of fury and jealousy.

39 And I will deliver you into their hands, and they shall bring down your vault, and overturn your high places, and strip you of your garments, and take away your ornaments, and leave you naked and bare.

40 Then they will bring up a mob against you, and they will stone you with stones, and pierce you through with their swords.

41 And they shall burn your houses with fire, and execute judgments against you in the sight of many women; and I will cause you to cease from being a harlot, and you shall give no more wages.

42 So I will cause my anger to rest on you, and my jealousy will turn away from you; I will be quiet and will never be angry again.

43 Because you did not remember the days of your youth, and you provoked me to anger with all this, behold, I will also bring your way upon your own head, says the Lord God, and you shall not commit such wickedness concerning all your abominations.

44 Behold, everyone who uses proverbs will use this proverb against you, saying: 'Like mother, like daughter.'

45 You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children: your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

46 Your older sister is Samaria and her daughters, who live to your left; and your younger sister, who lives to your right, is Sodom and her daughters.

47 Yet you have not walked in their ways, nor have you done according to their abominations; but, as if this were too little, you have corrupted yourself even more than they have, in all your ways.

48 As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, your sister Sodom and her daughters did not do to you and your daughters.

49 Behold, this was the wickedness of your sister Sodom: pride, abundance of food, and abundance of idleness were in her and her daughters; but she never strengthened the hand of the poor and needy .

50 And they became arrogant and committed abominations before me; therefore I removed them from there, when I saw it.

51 Samaria did not commit half of your sins; you multiplied your abominations more than they did, and you justified your sisters by all the abominations you committed.

52 You, then, suffer your shame, you who judged your sisters, for your sins, which you made more abominable than they, more righteous than you; be ashamed also, and suffer your shame, for you justified your sisters.

53 I will restore their fortunes, the captives of Sodom and her daughters, the captives of Samaria and her daughters, and the captives of your captivity among them;

54 So that you may suffer your shame, and be ashamed of all that you have done, while you give them comfort.

55 When your sisters, Sodom, and their daughters return to their former state, then you and your daughters will also return to your former state.

56 Not even Sodom, your sister, was mentioned by your mouth on the day of your pride,

57 Before your wickedness was discovered, as in the time of the scorn of the daughters of Syria, and of all who were around her, the daughters of the Philistines who despised you all around.

58 “Your wickedness and your abominations you will bear,” says the Lord.

59 For thus says the Lord God: I will do to you as you have done , who despised the oath, breaking the covenant.

60 But I will remember my covenant that I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.

61 Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your older sisters along with your younger sisters, for I will give them to you as daughters, but not by your covenant.

62 For I will establish my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the Lord;

63 So that you may remember and be ashamed, and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I reconcile you to all that you have done, declares the Lord God.

1 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

2 Filho do homem, faze conhecer a Jerusalém as suas abominações.

3 E dize: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová a Jerusalém: A tua origem e o teu nascimento procedem da terra dos cananeus: teu pai era amorreu, e a tua mãe hetéia.

4 E, quanto ao teu nascimento, no dia em que nasceste não te foi cortado o umbigo, nem foste lavada com água, para tua purificação; nem tampouco foste esfregada, com sal, nem envolta em faixas.

5 Não se compadeceu de ti olho algum, para te fazer alguma destas coisas, compadecido de ti; antes foste lançada em pleno campo, pelo nojo da tua alma, no dia em que tu nasceste.

6 E, passando eu por ti, vi-te manchada do teu sangue, e disse-te: Ainda que estás no teu sangue, vive; sim, disse-te: Ainda que estás no teu sangue, vive.

7 Eu te fiz multiplicar como o renovo do campo, e cresceste, e te engrandeceste, e alcançaste grande formosura: avultaram os seios e cresceu o teu cabelo; mas estavas nua e descoberta.

16 E tomaste dos teus vestidos, e fizeste lugares altos adornados de diversas cores, e te prostituíste sobre eles: tais coisas não vieram, nem hão de vir.

17 E tomaste as tuas jóias de enfeite, que eu te dei do meu ouro e da minha prata, e fizeste imagens de homens, e te prostituíste com elas.

2 “Son of man, what is a branch of the vine more than any other branch among the trees of the forest?

3 Is wood taken from it to make anything useful? Or is a stake taken from it to hang anything on?

4 Behold, it is thrown into the fire to be consumed; both its ends are consumed by the fire, and its middle is also burned up. Can anything be made of it?

1 Then some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down before me.

2 The word of the Lord came to me:

3 “Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?

4 Therefore speak to them and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Any Israelite who sets up idols in his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and then comes to the prophet, I, the Lord, will answer him according to the multitude of his idols.

5 I will take hold of the hearts of the Israelites, because they have all turned away from me to follow their idols.

6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent, and turn away from your idols, and turn your faces from all your abominations.

7 For any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel, who separates himself from me and sets up his idols in his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet to inquire of me through him, I, the Lord, will answer him myself.

8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, a sign, and a proverb, and will cut him off from among my people; and you shall know that I am the Lord.

9 And if the prophet is deceived and speaks something, I, the Lord, have persuaded that prophet; and I will stretch out my hand against him, and will destroy him from among my people Israel.

10 And they shall bear their iniquity; as the wickedness of the one who asks will be the wickedness of the prophet;

11 So that the house of Israel may no longer turn away from me, nor defile themselves any longer with all their transgressions: then they shall be my people, and I will be their God, says the Lord God.

1 The word of the Lord came to me:

2 “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy only what their own hearts see: ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’

3 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have not seen!

4 Your prophets, Israel, are like foxes in the deserts.

5 You have not gone up to the breaches or repaired the wound of the house of Israel, to stand in the battle on the day of the Lord.

6 They see a false vision and a lying divination, saying, “The Lord has spoken,” when the Lord has not sent them; and they make people hope for the fulfillment of the word.

7 Do you not see a false vision or speak a lying divination when you say, “The Lord has spoken,” when I have not spoken?’” 

8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you speak vanity, and see a lie, therefore behold, I am against you, says the Lord God.

9 And my hand will be against the prophets who see vanity and who divine lies; they shall not be in the congregation of my people, nor shall they be written in the registers of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel: and you shall know that I am the Lord God.

10 Because, yes, because they are deceiving my people, saying, “Peace,” when there is no peace; and one builds the wall of mud, and others plaster it with untempered lime.

11 Say to those who plaster it with untempered lime that it will fall. There will be a great downpour, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind will break it open.

12 Now, when the wall falls, will they not say to you, “Where is the plaster with which you plastered it?”

13 Therefore thus says the Lord God: A stormy wind will tear it down in my fury, and a heavy downpour will come in my anger, and great hailstones in my indignation, to consume it.

14 And I will break down the wall that you plastered with unblemished mortar, and I will bring it to the ground, and its foundation will be uncovered; thus it will fall, and you will perish in the midst of it, and you will know that I am the Lord.

15 Thus I will fulfill my fury against the wall, and against those who plaster it with unblemished mortar; and I will say to you, “The wall is no more, nor those who plastered it;

16 The prophets of Israel, who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and see for it a vision of peace, when there is no peace,” says the Lord God.

17 And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own hearts, and prophesy against them.

18 And say, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to those who sew pillows for all armpits, and who make headrests for every image, to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people? And will you keep souls alive for yourselves?

19 You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill souls that should not die, and to keep alive souls that should not live, thus lying to my people who listen to lies.

20 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against your pillows, with which you hunt souls like birds, and I will pluck them from your arms; and I will release the souls that you hunt like birds.

21 And I will tear your headrests, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall no more be in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

22 Because ye have grieved the heart of the righteous with falsehood, though I have not grieved him; and have strengthened the hand of the wicked, that he should not turn from his evil way, and live;

23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, neither shall ye make any more divinations: but I will deliver my people out of your hand; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

2 Filho do homem, profetiza contra os profetas de Israel que são profetizadores, e dize aos que só profetizam o que vê o seu coração: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor.

3 Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Ai dos profetas loucos, que seguem o seu próprio espírito e coisas que não viram!

4 Os teus profetas, ó Israel, são como raposas nos desertos.

5 Não subistes às brechas, nem reparastes a ferida da casa de Israel, para estardes na peleja no dia do Senhor:

6 Vêem vaidade e adivinhação mentirosa os que dizem: O Senhor disse, quando o Senhor os não enviou; e fazem que se espere o cumprimento da palavra.

7 Não vedes visão de vaidade, e não falais adivinhação mentirosa, quando dizeis: O Senhor diz, sendo que eu tal não falei?

10 Visto que, sim, visto que andam enganando o meu povo, dizendo: Paz, não havendo paz; e um edifica a parede de lodo, e outros a rebocam de cal não adubada.

11 Dize aos que a rebocam de cal não adubada que ela cairá. Haverá uma grande pancada de chuva, e vós, ó pedras grandes de saraiva, caireis, e um vento tempestuoso a fenderá.

12 Ora, ela que, caindo a parede, não vos dirão: Onde está o reboco de que a rebocastes?

13 Portanto assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Um vento tempestuoso a fenderá no meu furor, e uma grande pancada de chuva haverá na minha ira, e grandes pedras de saraiva na minha indignação, para a consumir.

14 E derrubarei a parede que rebocastes de cal não adubada, e darei com ela por terra, e o seu fundamento se descobrirá; assim cairá, e perecereis no meio dela, e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor.

15 Assim cumprirei o meu furor contra a parede, e contra os que a rebocam de cal não adubada; e vos direi: A parede já não existe, nem aqueles que a rebocaram;

16 Os profetas de Israel, que profetizam de Jerusalém, e vêem para ela visão de paz, não havendo paz, diz o Senhor Jeová.

17 E tu, ó filho do homem, dirige o teu rosto contra as filhas do teu povo, que profetizam de seu coração, e profetiza contra elas.

18 E dize: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Ai das que cosem almofadas para todos os sovacos, e que fazem travesseiros para cabeças de toda estátua, para caçarem as almas! Porventura caçareis as almas do meu povo? E guardareis vivas as almas para vós?

19 Vós me profanastes entre o meu povo, por punhado de cevada, e por pedaços de pão, para matardes as almas que não haviam de morrer, e para guardardes vivas as almas que não haviam de viver, mentindo assim ao meu povo que escuta a mentira.

20 Portanto assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Eis aí vou eu contra as vossas almofadas, com que vós ali caçais as almas como aves, e as arrancarei de vossos braços; e soltarei as almas que vós caçais como aves.

21 E rasgarei os vossos toucadores, e livrarei o meu povo das vossas mãos, e nunca mais estarão em vossas mãos para serem caçadas, e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor.

23 Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall no longer use it as a proverb in Israel. But say to them, “The days and the word of every vision have come.”

24 For there shall no longer be any false vision or flattering divination in the midst of the house of Israel.

25 For I, the Lord, will speak, and the word that I speak shall be fulfilled; it shall no longer be delayed. For in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak a word and fulfill it,’ says the Lord God.

26 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying:

27 Son of man, behold, the house of Israel says, “The vision that this man sees is for many days, and he prophesies of times far off.”
