The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 13

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 13

1 The word of the Lord came to me:

2 “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy only what their own hearts see: ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’

3 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have not seen!

4 Your prophets, Israel, are like foxes in the deserts.

5 You have not gone up to the breaches or repaired the wound of the house of Israel, to stand in the battle on the day of the Lord.

6 They see a false vision and a lying divination, saying, “The Lord has spoken,” when the Lord has not sent them; and they make people hope for the fulfillment of the word.

7 Do you not see a false vision or speak a lying divination when you say, “The Lord has spoken,” when I have not spoken?’”

8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you speak vanity, and see a lie, therefore behold, I am against you, says the Lord God.

9 And my hand will be against the prophets who see vanity and who divine lies; they shall not be in the congregation of my people, nor shall they be written in the registers of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel: and you shall know that I am the Lord God.

10 Because, yes, because they are deceiving my people, saying, “Peace,” when there is no peace; and one builds the wall of mud, and others plaster it with untempered lime.

11 Say to those who plaster it with untempered lime that it will fall. There will be a great downpour, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind will break it open.

12 Now, when the wall falls, will they not say to you, “Where is the plaster with which you plastered it?”

13 Therefore thus says the Lord God: A stormy wind will tear it down in my fury, and a heavy downpour will come in my anger, and great hailstones in my indignation, to consume it.

14 And I will break down the wall that you plastered with unblemished mortar, and I will bring it to the ground, and its foundation will be uncovered; thus it will fall, and you will perish in the midst of it, and you will know that I am the Lord.

15 Thus I will fulfill my fury against the wall, and against those who plaster it with unblemished mortar; and I will say to you, “The wall is no more, nor those who plastered it;

16 The prophets of Israel, who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and see for it a vision of peace, when there is no peace,” says the Lord God.

17 And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own hearts, and prophesy against them.

18 And say, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to those who sew pillows for all armpits, and who make headrests for every image, to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people? And will you keep souls alive for yourselves?

19 You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill souls that should not die, and to keep alive souls that should not live, thus lying to my people who listen to lies.

20 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against your pillows, with which you hunt souls like birds, and I will pluck them from your arms; and I will release the souls that you hunt like birds.

21 And I will tear your headrests, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall no more be in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

22 Because ye have grieved the heart of the righteous with falsehood, though I have not grieved him; and have strengthened the hand of the wicked, that he should not turn from his evil way, and live;

23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, neither shall ye make any more divinations: but I will deliver my people out of your hand; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

O livro do profeta Ezequiel 13

1 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

15 Assim cumprirei o meu furor contra a parede, e contra os que a rebocam de cal não adubada; e vos direi: A parede já não existe, nem aqueles que a rebocaram;

Porventura caçareis as almas do meu povo?

22 Visto que entristecestes o coração do justo com falsidade, não o havendo eu entristecido; e esforçastes as mãos do ímpio, para que não se desviasse do seu mau caminho, e vivesse;

Prophecy Against False Prophets

21 The word of the Lord came to me again:

22 “Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel, saying, ‘The days will be prolonged, and every vision will perish’?

23 Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall no longer use it as a proverb in Israel. But say to them, “The days and the word of every vision have come.”

24 For there shall no longer be any false vision or flattering divination in the midst of the house of Israel.

25 For I, the Lord, will speak, and the word that I speak shall be fulfilled; it shall no longer be delayed. For in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak a word and fulfill it,’ says the Lord God.

26 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying:

27 Son of man, behold, the house of Israel says, “The vision that this man sees is for many days, and he prophesies of times far off.”

28 Therefore say to them, “Thus says the Lord God: None of my words will be delayed any longer, and the word that I have spoken will be fulfilled, says the Lord God.”

21 E veio ainda a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

11 कहो, “मैं तुम्हारा अद्भुत निशान हूँ: जैसा मैंने किया है, वैसा ही उनके साथ भी होगा; वे बंदी बनकर देश निकाला में जाएँगे;

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 12 The move outside the wall is a symbol of the captivity of dispersion

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 12

The move outside the wall is a symbol of the captivity of dispersion

1 The word of the Lord came to me:

2 Son of man, you live among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see, and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.

3 Son of man, prepare your belongings for a change of country. By day, move from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will notice, though they are a rebellious people.

4 By day, in their sight, bring out your belongings as if you were moving, and in the evening, in their sight, go out as if moving from one place to another.

5 Dig through the wall in their sight and bring them out through it.

6 In their sight you shall carry them on your shoulders, in the dark you shall take them out, and cover your face so that you do not see the ground; for I have given you as a wondrous sign to the house of Israel.

7 And I did as I was commanded: I took my belongings out by day, as if for a change; then in the evening I dug in the wall with my hand; in the dark I took them out, and carried them on my shoulders in their sight.

8 And the word of the Lord came to me in the morning, saying:

9 Son of man, did not the house of Israel, that rebellious house, say to you, “What are you doing?”

10 Say to them, “Thus says the Lord God: This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel who are in the midst of it.”

11 Say, “I am your wondrous sign: As I have done, so it shall be done to them; they shall go into exile as captives;

12 And the prince who is among them will carry his belongings on his shoulders and go out in the dark; they will dig through the wall to take them out through it; he will cover his face, so that he will not see the land with his eyes.

13 I will also spread my net over him, and he will be caught in my snare; and I will bring him to Babylon, to the land of the Chaldeans, but he will not see it, though he will die there.

14 And all who are around him to help him, and all his troops, I will scatter to all the winds; and I will draw out the sword after them.

15 Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I scatter them among the nations and disperse them throughout the lands.

16 But I will leave a few of them, who escape the sword, famine, and pestilence, so that they may recount all their abominations among the nations where they go; and they will know that I am the Lord.

17 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

18 “Son of man, eat your bread with trembling and drink your water with trembling and apprehension.

19 Say to the people of the land, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: They will eat their bread with apprehension and drink their water with dread, because their land will be stripped of its abundance due to the violence of all who live in it.

20 The inhabited cities will become desolate, and the land will be laid waste; then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

O livro do profeta Ezequiel 12

1 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

11 Dize: Eu sou o vosso maravilhoso sinal: Assim como eu fiz, assim se lhes fará a eles; para o exílio irão cativos;

17 Então veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

19 और मैं उन्हें एक दिल दूँगा, और उनके अंदर एक नई आत्मा डालूँगा; और मैं उनके शरीर से पत्थर का दिल निकालकर उन्हें मांस का दिल दूँगा;

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 11 God's Judgment Against the Leaders of the People

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 11

God's Judgment Against the Leaders of the People

1 Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the Lord’s house, which faces east. At the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men, including Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.

2 He said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who devise wickedness and plot evil in this city.

3 They say, ‘The time has not come to build houses; this city is the pot, and we are the meat.’

4 Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, son of man.”

5 The Spirit of the Lord came upon me and said to me, “Speak: ‘This is what the Lord says: “This is what you, people of Israel, have said. I know the thoughts of your minds.”

6 You have multiplied your dead in this city, and filled its streets with the slain.

7 Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Your dead, whom you have laid in the midst of it, are the meat, and it is the pot; but I will take you out of the midst of it.

8 You feared the sword, and the sword I will bring upon you, says the Lord God.

9 And I will make you go out of the midst of it, and deliver you into the hand of strangers, and I will execute my judgments among you.

10 You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you on the borders of Israel; and you shall know that I am the Lord.

11 This city shall not be a pot for you, nor shall you be meat in the midst of it; I will judge you on the borders of Israel.

12 And you shall know that I am the Lord, because you have not walked in my statutes, nor have you executed my judgments; Before, you acted according to the judgments of the nations that are around you.

13 And it happened that, while I was prophesying, Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell on my face and cried with a loud voice, and said, “Ah, Lord God! Will you make an end of the remnant of Israel?”

14 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

15 Son of man, your brothers, your own brothers, the men of your kindred, and all the house of Israel, all of them are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem said, “Depart from us far from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession.”

16 Therefore say, “Thus says the Lord God: Though I have cast them far away among the nations, and though I have scattered them throughout the lands, yet I will be a sanctuary for them for a little while in the lands to which they have gone.”

17 Therefore, say: Thus says the Lord God: I will gather you from among the peoples, and I will assemble you from the lands where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

18 And they shall come there, and remove from it all its detestable things and all its abominations.

19 And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them; and I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh;

20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

21 But as for those whose heart goes after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their way upon their own heads, says the Lord God.

22 Then the cherubim lifted their wings, and the wheels went beside them; And the glory of the God of Israel was above them.

23 And the glory of the Lord went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain that is east of the city.

24 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me in a vision to Chaldea, to the exiles, by the Spirit of God; and the vision that I had seen departed from me.

25 And I told the exiles all the things that the Lord had shown me.

O livro do profeta Ezequiel 11

4 Portanto, profetiza contra eles; profetiza, ó filho do homem.

14 Então veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

19 E lhes darei um mesmo coração, e um espírito novo porei dentro deles, e tirarei da sua carne o coração de pedra, e lhes darei um coração de carne;

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 10 The Second Vision of the Cherubim

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 10

The Second Vision of the Cherubim

1 Then I looked, and behold, in the firmament that was above the heads of the cherubim, there appeared above them something like a sapphire stone, in the likeness of a throne.

2 And he spoke to the man clothed in linen, saying, “Go in among the wheels, under the cherubim, and fill your hands with burning coals from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he went in before my eyes.

3 Now the cherubim were standing on the right side of the house when the man went in; and a cloud filled the inner court.

4 Then the glory of the Lord rose from above the cherubim to the entrance of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord.

5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks.

6 So it happened that he gave the order to the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,” and he went in and stood beside the wheels.

7 Then one cherub stretched out his hand from among the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took it and put it into the hands of the one clothed in linen, who took it and went out.

8 And there appeared in the cherubim the likeness of a man’s hand under their wings.

9 Then I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside one cherub, and another wheel beside another cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like the color of beryl.

10 And as for their appearance, the four had the same likeness, as if one wheel were within another wheel.

11 As they moved, the wheels moved in any of their four directions; they did not turn as they moved, but went in whatever direction their heads were looking; they did not turn as they moved.

12 Their whole bodies, their backs, their hands, their wings, and the wheels that the four had were full of eyes all around.

13 As for the wheels, in my hearing they were called Galgal.

14 Each one had four faces: The first had the face of a cherub, the second the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

15 The cherubim rose up on high; these are the living creatures I saw by the river Chebar.

16 When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved with them; and when the cherubim lifted their wings to rise from the earth, the wheels did not separate from them.

17 When the cherubim stood still, they also stood still; when the cherubim rose, they also rose, because the breath of life was in them.

18 Then the glory of the Lord departed from the entrance of the temple and stood over the cherubim.

19 The cherubim lifted their wings and rose from the earth in my sight as they went out, with wheels beside them. They stood at the entrance of the east gate of the Lord’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.

20 These are the living creatures I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar. They were cherubim.

21 Each one had four faces and four wings, with the likeness of human hands under their wings.

22 Their faces resembled the faces I had seen by the river Chebar. They looked like creatures of color, each walking straight ahead.

The Punishments of Jerusalem

1 Then he cried out in my ears with a loud voice, saying, “Bring near the overseers of the city, each with his weapon of destruction in his hand.”

2 And behold, six men came from the direction of the upper gate that faces north, each with his weapon of destruction in his hand, and among them was a man clothed in linen, with a scribe’s inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar.

3 Then the glory of the God of Israel rose from the cherub upon which it was, to the entrance of the house, and called to the man clothed in linen, who had the scribe’s inkhorn at his side.

4 And the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.”

5 And to the others he said in my hearing, “Go through the city after him and strike; do not let your eye spare, nor have pity.

6 Kill old men, young men, virgins, little children, and women, until you have exterminated them; but do not come near anyone who has the mark; and begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the house.

7 And he said to them, “Defile the house and fill the courts with the slain; go out.” So they went out and struck the city.

8 And it came to pass, when they had struck them, and I was left alive, that I fell on my face and cried out, and said, “Ah, Lord God! Will you destroy all the remnant of Israel, pouring out your wrath on Jerusalem?”

9 Then he said to me, “The wickedness of the house of Israel and Judah is very great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city is full of wickedness; and they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land; the Lord does not see.’

10 Therefore, as for me, my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity; I will bring their own way upon their own heads.”

11 And behold, the man clothed in linen, with the inkhorn at his side, returned with the answer, saying, “I have done as you commanded me.”

E saíram, e feriram a cidade.

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 8 The Abominations in the Sanctuary

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 8

The Abominations in the Sanctuary

1 In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house with the elders of Judah sitting before me, the hand of the Lord God fell upon me there.

2 I looked, and behold, a likeness as the appearance of fire, from the appearance of his loins, and upward as the appearance of a brightness, as the color of amber.

3 Then he stretched out the form of a hand and took me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the inner gate that faces north, where the image of jealousy was placed, which provokes jealousy.

4 And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the likeness that I had seen in the valley.

5 Then he said to me, “Son of man, lift up your eyes toward the north.” So I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and there on the north side, at the entrance to the altar, was this image of jealousy.

6 Then he said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing? The great abominations that the house of Israel is committing here, to drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will see even greater abominations.”

7 He brought me to the entrance of the courtyard, and I looked, and there was a hole in the wall.

8 He said to me, “Son of man, dig through the wall.” So I dug through the wall, and there was a door.

9 Then he said to me, “Go in and see the wicked abominations they are committing here.”

10 Then I went in and looked, and behold, every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, were portrayed on the wall all around.

11 Seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, who was among them, were standing before the paintings, each with his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense was rising.

12 Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each in his painted chambers? And they say, ‘The Lord does not see us; the Lord has forsaken the land.’”

13 And he said to me, “You will see even greater abominations than these men are doing.”

14 Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the Lord, and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

15 Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this? You will see even greater abominations than these.”

16 He brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house, and there at the entrance to the temple of the Lord, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, worshiping the sun toward the east.

17 He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this? Are there any things more detestable for the house of Judah than these abominations they are committing here? They have filled the land with violence and have turned to provoke me to anger; they are even putting the branch to their nose.

18 Therefore I also will act in fury; my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. Though they cry out in my ears with a loud voice, I will not listen to them.”

As abominações no santuário

2 E olhei, e eis uma semelhança como aparência de fogo; Desde a aparência dos seus lombos, e para cima como aspecto de um resplendor, como cor de âmbar;

8 E disse-me: Filho do homem, cava agora aquela parede.

9 Então me disse: Entra, e vê as malignas abominações que eles fazem aqui.

15 E disse-me: Viste, filho do homem?

17 Então me disse: Viste, filho do homem?
