The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 3 The Watchman of Israel

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 3

The Watchman of Israel

16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

17 Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear the word from my mouth, and give them warning from me.

18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you do not warn him, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.

19 But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

20 Likewise, when the righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I place a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not warn him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds that he did shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand.

21 But if you warn the righteous man, so that he does not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he was warned; and you have delivered your soul.

22 And the hand of the Lord was upon me there, and he said to me, “Arise, go out into the valley, and there I will speak with you.”

23 So I arose and went out into the valley, and behold, the glory of the Lord was there, like the glory that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face.

24 Then the spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and spoke with me, and said to me, “Go, shut yourself up in your house.”

25 For, son of man, behold, they will put ropes on you and bind you with them; you shall not go out among them.

26 And I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth, and you will be mute, and you will not be a man who rebukes them; for they are a rebellious house.

27 But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord: He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses to hear, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.’

5 क्योंकि तुम्हें अजीब बोली या मुश्किल भाषा बोलने वाले लोगों के पास नहीं भेजा जा रहा है, बल्कि इस्राएल के घराने के पास भेजा जा रहा है;

1 Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.”

2 So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat.

3 And he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey.

4 Then he said to me, “Son of man, go now to the house of Israel and speak my words to them.

5 For you are not being sent to a people of strange speech or difficult language, but to the house of Israel;

6 nor to many peoples of strange speech and difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. If I were sending you to them, they would surely listen to you.

7 But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to me; Because the whole house of Israel is stubborn and hard-hearted.

8 Behold, I have made your face hard against their faces, and your forehead strong against their foreheads.

9 I have made your forehead like a diamond, harder than flint; therefore do not fear them, nor be dismayed by their faces, for they are a rebellious house.

10 He also said to me, “Son of man, lay up in your heart all my words that I shall speak to you, and hear them with your ears.

11 Go now to the exiles, to the children of your people, and speak to them, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ whether they listen or refuse to listen.”

12 Then my spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a loud voice, saying, “Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place!”

13 And I heard the sound of the wings of the living creatures as they touched one another, and the sound of the wheels beside them, and the sound of a great rushing.

14 Then the Spirit lifted me up and took me away, and I went in sorrow, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.

15 And I came to the exiles at Tel-Abib, who lived by the river Chebar, and I stayed where they lived; and I remained there seven days, astonished among them.

1 Depois me disse: Filho do homem, come o que achares; come este rolo, e vai, fala à casa de Israel.

2 Então abri a minha boca, e me deu a comer o rolo.

5 Porque tu não és enviado a um povo de estranha fala, nem de língua difícil, mas à casa de Israel;

14 Então o espírito me levantou, e me levou; e eu me fui triste, no ardor do meu espírito; mas a mão do Senhor era forte sobre mim.

1 And he said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you.”

2 Then the spirit entered me when he spoke to me, and set me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.

3 And he said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to the rebellious nations that have rebelled against me; they and their fathers have transgressed against me to this very day.

4 The people are stubborn and hard-hearted. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’

5 Whether they listen or fail to listen (for they are a rebellious house), they will know that a prophet has been among them.

6 And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words; Though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions, do not be afraid of their words or terrified by their faces, for they are a rebellious people.

7 But you must speak my words to them, whether they listen or refuse to listen, for they are rebellious.

8 But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious people; open your mouth and eat what I give you.

9 Then I looked, and behold, a hand was stretched out to me, and behold, a scroll was in it.

10 He spread it before me, and it was written on both sides; and there were written in it lamentations, mourning, and woe.

1 E disse-me: Filho do homem, põe-te em pé, e falarei contigo.

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 1 The First Vision of the Cherubim

The Book of the Prophet Ezekiel 1

The First Vision of the Cherubim

1 In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

2 On the fifth day of the month (in the fifth year of King Jehoiachin's captivity),

3 The word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was upon him there.

4 I looked, and behold, a stormy wind was coming from the north, and a great cloud with fire flashing forth continually, and brightness all around it, and in the midst of it something like amber, coming out of the fire.

5 And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.

6 Each one had four faces, and each of them had four wings.

7 Their feet were straight feet, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf’s foot, and they gleamed like burnished bronze.

8 They had human hands under their wings on their four sides; and all four had faces and wings.

9 Their wings were joined together; they did not turn when they went; each one went straight ahead.

10 Their faces were like human faces; on the right side all four had the face of a lion, and on the left side all four had the face of an ox; and all four also had the face of an eagle.

11 Their faces and wings were separated above; each one had two wings joined together, and two covered their bodies.

12 Each one went straight ahead; wherever the spirit was to go, they went; they did not turn when they went.

13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches; the fire ran between the living creatures, and the fire was bright, and out of the fire came lightning.

14 And the living creatures ran and returned like flashes of lightning.

15 And I saw the living creatures, and behold, there was a wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, for each of their four faces.

16 The appearance of the wheels and the workmanship of them was like the color of beryl; and the four had the same likeness; their appearance and their workmanship was as it were a wheel within a wheel.

17 When they moved, they moved in any of their four directions; they did not turn as they moved.

18 The wheels were so high that they were awesome; and the four wheels had eyes all around.

19 When the animals moved, the wheels went beside them; and when the animals rose from the earth, the wheels also rose.

20 Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went; wherever the spirit had to go; and the wheels rose up before them, because the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

21 When they moved, the wheels moved; when they stopped, the wheels stopped; and when they rose from the earth, the wheels also rose up before them, because the spirit of the animals was in the wheels.

22 Above the heads of the animals there was something like a firmament, like the appearance of crystal, terrifying, stretched out above their heads.

23 Under the firmament their wings were straight, one toward the other; each had two wings covering its body on one side, and each had two wings covering its body on the other side.

24 As they moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the sound of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the sound of a rushing army; when they stopped, they lowered their wings.

25 And there was a voice from above the firmament that was over their heads: when they stopped, they lowered their wings.

26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, like that of sapphire; and upon the likeness of the throne was as it were the likeness of a man, high above it.

27 And I saw as it were the color of amber, as the appearance of fire within it, from the likeness of his loins even upward; and from the likeness of his loins even downward I saw as it were the likeness of fire, and a brightness round about it.

28 Like the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord; and when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking.

2 No quinto dia do mês (no quinto ano do cativeiro do rei Joaquim),

Lamentations of Jeremiah 5 Present Evils and Sad Memories

 Lamentations of Jeremiah 5

Present Evils and Sad Memories

1 Remember, Lord, what has happened to us; consider and look upon our reproach.

2 Our inheritance has passed to strangers, and our houses to foreigners.

3 We are fatherless orphans, our mothers are like widows.

4 We drink our water for money, and our firewood comes at a price.

5 Our persecutors are upon our necks; we are weary, and have no rest.

6 We stretched out our hands to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

7 Our fathers sinned, and are no more; we bear their iniquities.

8 Servants rule over us; there is no one to deliver us from their hand.

9 At the risk of our lives we bring in our bread, because of the sword of the desert.

10 Our skin has become black like an oven, because of the burning heat of famine.

11 They violated the women in Zion, the virgins in the cities of Judah.

12 The princes were hanged by their hands; the faces of the old men were not revered.

13 They force the young men to grind, and the young men stumble under the wood.

14 The old men no longer have a seat at the gate, the young men no longer sing.

15 The joy of our hearts has ceased; our dancing has turned into mourning.

16 The crown has fallen from our head; woe to us, for we have sinned.

17 Therefore our hearts have fainted; therefore our eyes have grown dim.

18 Foxes prowl on Mount Zion, which is desolate.

19 You, Lord, remain forever; your throne endures from generation to generation.

20 Why would you forget us forever? Why would you forsake us for so long?

21 Turn us back to you, Lord, and we will be restored; renew our days as of old.

22 Why would you reject us completely? Why would you be so angry with us?

2 A nossa herdade passou a estranhos, e as nossas casas a forasteiros.

Lamentations of Jeremiah 4 The Great Afflictions of Various Classes of People

 Lamentations of Jeremiah 4

The Great Afflictions of Various Classes of People

1 How the gold has become tarnished! How the fine gold has changed! How the stones of the sanctuary are scattered at the corner of every street!

2 The precious children of Zion, comparable to pure gold, how are they now regarded as earthen vessels, the work of the potter's hands!

3 Even jackals lower their breasts to nurse their young; but the daughter of my people has become cruel like ostriches in the desert.

4 The tongue of the nursing child clings to its palate for thirst; the children ask for bread, and no one gives it to them.

5 Those who ate delicacies faint in the streets; those who grew up in crimson embrace dung.

6 For the wickedness of the daughter of my people is greater than the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment, without anyone working on it.

7 Their noses were whiter than snow, whiter than milk, more purple in color than rubies, more polished than sapphire.

8 But now their appearance has grown darker than blackness; they are not recognized in the streets; their skin has clung to their bones; it has dried up, it has become like a stick.

9 Those slain by the sword are more fortunate than those slain by famine, for these wither away like those pierced through, for lack of the fruits of the fields.

10 The hands of devout women have boiled their own children; they became food for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

11 The Lord has fulfilled his wrath; he has poured out the fierceness of his anger, and kindled a fire in Zion, which has consumed its foundations.

12 The kings of the earth did not believe, nor did all the inhabitants of the world, that the adversary and the enemy would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.

13 Because of the sins of the prophets, the wickedness of her priests, who shed the blood of the righteous in her midst.

14 They wander like blind men in the streets, they are defiled with blood; so that no one can touch their clothes.

15 “Depart!” they cried. “Unclean! Depart, depart, do not touch!” When they fled and wandered, they said among the nations, “They shall never dwell here again.”

16 The anger of the Lord has divided them; he will never look upon them again; they did not revere the face of the priests, nor did they have compassion on the elders.

17 Our eyes failed, waiting for vain help; we looked intently at a people who could not save.

18 They spied on our steps, so that we could not walk in our streets: our end is coming, our days are fulfilled, for our end has come.

19 Our pursuers were swifter than the birds of the air; they chased us on the mountains and set traps for us in the desert.

20 The breath of our nostrils, the Lord’s anointed, was caught in their graves; we said of him, “Under his shadow we shall live among the nations.”

21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, who dwell in the land of Uz; the cup will come to you also; you will be drunk and uncover yourself.

22 The punishment for your wickedness is complete, O daughter of Zion; he will never again carry you away captive; he will visit your iniquity, O daughter of Edom, he will uncover your sins.

27 एक आदमी के लिए अपनी जवानी में जुआ उठाना अच्छा है;

61 हे प्रभु, तूने उनकी बेइज्ज़ती सुनी, मेरे खिलाफ उनके सारे विचार;

Lamentations of Jeremiah 3 The sorrow of Jeremiah; he invites the people to acknowledge their sin and return to God for mercy.

 Lamentations of Jeremiah 3

The sorrow of Jeremiah; he invites the people to acknowledge their sin and return to God for mercy.

1 I am the man who has seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

2 He has led me away and made me walk in darkness and not in light.

3 He has turned against me; he has continually turned his hand all day long.

4 He has made my flesh and my skin grow old, he has broken my bones.

5 He has built against me, and surrounded me with gall and toil.

6 He has set me in dark places, like those who have been long dead.

7 He has surrounded me, so that I cannot escape; he has made my chains heavy.

8 Even when I cry out and shout, he shuts out my prayer.

9 He has surrounded my ways with hewn stones, he has made my paths crooked.

10 He has become like a bear lying in wait for me, like a lion in ambush.

11 He has turned aside my ways and torn me to pieces; he has left me desolate.

12 He has bent his bow and set me as a target for his arrows.

13 He has pierced my kidneys with the arrows of his quiver.

14 I have become an object of scorn to all my people, their song all day long.

15 He has filled me with bitterness; he has made me drink wormwood.

16 He has broken my teeth with gravel; he has covered me with ashes.

17 You have taken away peace from my soul; I have forgotten what is good.

18 Then I said, “My strength is gone, as is my hope in the Lord.”

19 Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall.

20 My soul certainly remembers, and is bowed down within me.

21 This I recall to mind in my heart; therefore I have hope.

22 The Lord’s mercies are the reason we are not consumed; for his mercies never end.

23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul; “therefore I will hope in him.”

25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.

26 It is good to have hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth;

28 to sit alone and be silent, for God has laid it on him.

29 Let him put his mouth in the dust; perhaps there is hope.

30 Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes him; let him be filled with reproach.

31 For the Lord will not reject forever.

32 For though he causes grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his mercies.

33 For he does not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.

34 To trample underfoot all the prisoners of the earth,

35 To pervert the right of man before the face of the Most High,

36 To subvert a man in his cause—would not the Lord see it?

37 Who is he who speaks, and it comes to pass, when the Lord has not commanded it?

38 Does not the mouth of the Most High speak both good and evil?

39 Why then should a living man complain? Let each one complain of his own sins.

40 Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.

41 Let us lift up our hearts with our hands to God in heaven, saying:

42 We have transgressed and rebelled; therefore you have not forgiven.

43 You have covered yourself with anger and persecuted us; you have killed, you have not spared.

44 You have covered yourself with clouds, so that our prayer cannot pass through.

45 You have made us like chaff and rejects among the peoples.

46 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

47 Terror and the pit have come upon us, desolation and destruction.

48 My eyes have poured out torrents of water because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.

49 My eyes weep and do not cease, for there is no rest.

50 Until the Lord looks down and sees from heaven.

51 My eye moves my soul because of all the daughters of my city.

52 My enemies without cause hunted me like a bird.

53 They plucked my life from the pit and threw stones upon me.

54 Waters rushed over my head; I said, “I am cut off.”

55 I called upon Your name, O Lord, from the deepest pit.

56 You heard my voice; do not hide Your ear from my sigh, from my cry.

57 You drew near on the day I called upon You; You said, “Do not fear.”

58 You pleaded, O Lord, the cause of my soul; You redeemed my life.

59 You saw, O Lord, the injustice done to me; judge my cause.

60 You saw all their vengeance, all their thoughts against me.

61 You heard their insults, O Lord, all their thoughts against me;

62 The lips of those who rise up against me and their fantasies against me all day long. 63 Watch them as they sit down and as they rise up; I am their song.

64 You will reward them, Lord, according to the work of their hands.

65 You will give them heartache, your curse upon them.

66 In your anger you will pursue them, and they will be destroyed under the heavens of the Lord.

4 Fez envelhecer a minha carne e a minha pele, quebrantou os meus ossos.

11 Desviou os meus caminhos, e fez-me em pedaços; deixou-me assolado.

17 E afastaste da paz a minha alma; esqueci-me do bem.

24 A minha porção é o Senhor, diz a minha alma; portanto esperarei nele.

27 Bom é para o homem suportar o jugo na sua mocidade;

35 Perverter o direito do homem perante a face do Altíssimo,

59 Viste, Senhor, a injustiça que me fizeram; julga a minha causa.

61 Ouviste as suas afrontas, Senhor, todos os seus pensamentos contra mim;
