O livramento prometido ao povo de Israel

 

1 Consolai, consolai o meu povo, diz o vosso Deus.

2 Falai benignamente a Jerusalém, e bradai-lhe que já a sua malícia é acabada, que a sua iniqüidade está expiada e que já recebeu em dobro da mão do Senhor, por todos os seus pecados.

3 Voz do que clama no deserto: Preparai o caminho do Senhor: endireitai no ermo vereda a nosso Deus.

4 Todo o vale será exaltado, e todo o monte e todo o outeiro serão abatidos: e o que está torcido se endireitará, e o que é áspero se aplainará.

5 E a glória do Senhor se manifestará, e toda a carne juntamente verá que foi a boca do Senhor que isto disse.

6 Voz que diz: Clama; e alguém disse: Que hei de clamar? Toda a carne é erva e toda a sua beleza como as flores do campo.

7 Seca-se a erva, e caem as flores, soprando nelas o hálito do Senhor. Na verdade o povo é erva.

8 Seca-se a erva, e caem as flores, mas a palavra de nosso Deus subsiste eternamente.

9 Tu, anunciador de boas-novas a Sião, sobe tu a um monte alto. Tu, anunciador de boas novas a Jerusalém, levanta a tua voz fortemente; levanta-a, não temas, e dize às cidades de Judá: Eis aqui está o vosso Deus.

10 Eis que o Senhor Jeová virá como o forte, e o seu braço dominará: eis que o seu galardão vem com ele, e o seu salário diante da sua face.

11 Como pastor apascentará o seu rebanho; entre os seus braços recolherá os cordeirinhos, e os levará no seu regaço: as que amamentam, ele guiará mansamente.

12 Quem mediu com o seu punho as águas, e tomou a medida dos céus aos palmos, e recolheu numa medida o pó da terra e pesou os montes e os outeiros em balanças?

13 Quem guiou o Espírito do Senhor? E que conselheiro o ensinou?

14 Com quem tomou conselho, para que lhe desse entendimento, e lhe mostrasse as veredas do juízo e lhe ensinasse sabedoria, e lhe fizesse notório o caminho da ciência?

15 Eis que as nações são consideradas por ele como a gota de um balde, e como o pó miúdo das balanças: eis que lança por aí as ilhas como a uma coisa pequeníssima.

16 Nem todo o Líbano basta para o fogo, nem os seus animais bastam para holocaustos.

17 Todas as nações são como nada perante ele; ele considera-as menos do que nada e como uma coisa vã.

18 A quem pois fareis semelhante a Deus: ou com que o comparareis?

19 O artífice grava a imagem, e o ourives a cobre de ouro, e cadeias de prata funde para ela.

20 O empobrecido, que não pode oferecer tanto, escolhe madeira que não se corrompe: artífice sábio busca, para gravar uma imagem que se não pode mover.

21 Porventura não sabeis? Porventura não ouvis? Ou desde o princípio se vos não notificou isto mesmo? Ou não atentastes para os fundamentos da terra?

22 Ele é o que está assentado sobre o globo da terra, cujos moradores são para ele como gafanhotos: ele é o que estende os céus como cortina, e os desenrola como tenda para neles habitar:

23 O que faz voltar ao nada os príncipes e torna coisa vã os juízes da terra.

24 E não se plantam, nem se semeiam, nem se arraiga na terra o seu tronco cortado; sopra sobre eles e secam-se, e um tufão como pragana os levará.

25 A quem pois me fareis semelhante, para que lhe seja semelhante? Diz o Santo.

26 Levantai ao alto os vossos olhos, e vede quem criou estas coisas, quem produz por conta o seu exército, quem a todas chama pelos seus nomes; por causa da grandeza das suas forças, e pela fortaleza do seu poder, nenhuma faltará.

27 Por que pois dizes, ó Jacó, e tu falas, ó Israel: O meu caminho está encoberto ao Senhor, e o meu juízo passa de largo pelo meu Deus?

28 Não sabes, não ouviste que o eterno Deus, o Senhor, o Criador dos fins da terra, nem se cansa nem se fatiga? Não há esquadrinhação do seu entendimento.

29 Dá esforço ao cansado, e multiplica as forças ao que não tem nenhum vigor.

30 Os jovens se cansarão e se fatigarão, e os mancebos certamente cairão.

31 Mas ao que esperam no Senhor renovarão as suas forças, subirão com asas como águias: correrão, e não se cansarão; caminharão, e não se fatigarão.

1 उस समय, बेबीलोन के राजा बलदाम के पुत्र मरोदक-बलदान ने हिजकिय्याह के पास पत्र और एक भेंट भेजी, क्योंकि उसने सुना था कि वह बीमार था और अब ठीक हो रहा है।

6 सुन, वे दिन आ रहे हैं जब जो कुछ तेरे भवन में है, और जो कुछ तेरे पुरखाओं ने आज के दिन तक भण्डार में रखा है, वह सब बाबुल ले जाया जाएगा; कुछ भी न बचेगा, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

1 At that time Merodach-Baladan, son of Baladam, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, because he had heard that he had been sick and was recovering.

2 Hezekiah rejoiced with them and showed them his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious ointments, his entire armory, and everything found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house or in all his domain that Hezekiah did not show them.

3 Then the prophet Isaiah came to King Hezekiah and said to him, "What did these men say, and where did they come from?" Hezekiah said, "They came to me from a far country, from Babylon." 

4 And he said, "What have they seen in your house?" And Hezekiah said, "They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them."

5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the Lord of hosts:

6 Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, will be carried to Babylon; nothing will be left, says the Lord.

7 And some of your sons, whom you shall father, will be taken away, and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon."

8 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good." And he said, "For there will be peace and truth in my days."

1 Naquele tempo enviou Merodaque-Baladã, filho de Baladão, rei da Babilônia, cartas e um presente a Ezequias, porque tinha ouvido dizer que havia estado doente e que já tinha convalescido.

2 E Ezequias se alegrou com eles, e lhes mostrou a casa do seu tesouro, a prata, e o ouro, e as especiarias, e os melhores ungüentos, e toda a sua casa de armas, e tudo quanto se achava nos seus tesouros: coisa nenhuma houve, nem em sua casa, nem em todo o seu domínio, que Ezequias lhes não mostrasse.

3 Então o profeta Isaías veio ao rei Ezequias, e lhe disse: Que foi que aqueles homens disseram, e donde vieram a ti? E disse Ezequias: Duma terra remota vieram a mim, de Babilônia.

4 E disse ele: Que foi que viram em tua casa? E disse Ezequias: Viram tudo quanto há em minha casa; coisa nenhuma há nos meus tesouros que eu deixasse de lhes mostrar.

5 Então disse Isaías a Ezequias: Ouve a palavra do Senhor dos Exércitos:

6 Eis que virão dias em que tudo quanto houver em tua casa, com o que entesouraram teus pais até ao dia de hoje, será levado para Babilônia: não ficará coisa alguma, disse o Senhor.

7 E dos teus filhos, que procederem de ti, e tu gerares, tomarão, para que sejam eunucos no palácio do rei de Babilônia.

8 Então disse Ezequias a Isaías: Boa é a palavra do Senhor que disseste. Disse mais: Porque haverá paz e verdade em meus dias.

1 उन्हीं दिनों हिजकिय्याह इतना बीमार हो गया कि उसकी मृत्यु हो गई। और आमोस का पुत्र, भविष्यवक्ता यशायाह उसके पास आया और उससे कहा, "यहोवा यों कहता है: अपने घराने के विषय में जो आज्ञा देनी हो, वह दे, क्योंकि तू मरेगा, और जीवित न रहेगा।"

2 तब हिजकिय्याह ने दीवार की ओर मुँह करके यहोवा से प्रार्थना की।

3 उसने कहा, "हे यहोवा, मैं तुझसे प्रार्थना करता हूँ, स्मरण कर कि मैं कैसे सच्चाई और खरे मन से तेरे सम्मुख चलता आया हूँ, और वही करता आया हूँ जो तेरी दृष्टि में ठीक है।" और हिजकिय्याह फूट-फूट कर रोया।

4 तब यहोवा का यह वचन यशायाह के पास पहुँचा:

5 जाकर हिजकिय्याह से कह, "तेरे पिता दाऊद का परमेश्वर यहोवा यों कहता है: मैंने तेरी प्रार्थना सुनी है और तेरे आँसू देखे हैं; देख, मैं तेरी आयु पन्द्रह वर्ष और बढ़ा दूँगा।" 

6 और मैं तुझे और इस नगर को अश्शूर के राजा के हाथ से छुड़ाऊँगा; मैं इस नगर की रक्षा करूँगा।

7 और यह यहोवा की ओर से तुम्हारे लिए एक चिन्ह होगा कि यहोवा अपने कहे हुए इस वचन को पूरा करेगा:

8 देखो, मैं आहाज की घड़ी के अंशों से सूर्य के साथ गुजरने वाले अंशों की छाया को दस अंश पीछे कर दूँगा। इस प्रकार सूर्य अपने पिछले अंशों से दस अंश पीछे चला गया।

9 यहूदा के राजा हिजकिय्याह के लेख, जब वह बीमार था और अपनी बीमारी से ठीक हो गया था।

10 मैंने कहा, "अपने दिनों की शांति में मैं अधोलोक के द्वार पर जाऊँगा; मैं अपने शेष वर्षों से वंचित हो चुका हूँ।"

11 मैंने कहा, "मैं अब जीवितों की भूमि में यहोवा को फिर कभी नहीं देखूँगा; मैं संसार के निवासियों के साथ मनुष्य को कभी नहीं देखूँगा।"

17 देख, अपनी शान्ति के लिये मैं बड़ी कड़वाहट में रहा हूँ; परन्तु तूने मेरे प्राण को ऐसे प्रेम से गले लगाया है कि वह नाश के गड़हे में नहीं गिरा, क्योंकि तूने मेरे सब पापों को अपनी पीठ के पीछे फेंक दिया है।

18 क्योंकि अधोलोक तेरी स्तुति नहीं कर सकता, मृत्यु तेरी महिमा नहीं कर सकती; जो लोग गड़हे में उतरते हैं, वे तेरी सच्चाई की आशा नहीं रखेंगे।

19 जीवित, जीवित लोग तेरी स्तुति करेंगे, जैसा मैं आज करता हूँ; एक पिता अपने बच्चों को तुम्हारा सत्य बताएगा।

Hezekiah's Illness and His Wonderful Healing

1 In those days Hezekiah became sick to death. And the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, came to him and said to him, "Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you will die and not live."

2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord.

3 He said, "Oh, Lord, remember, I pray you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done what is right in your eyes." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

4 Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah:

5 Go and tell Hezekiah, "Thus says the Lord, the God of your father David: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; behold, I will add fifteen years to your days." 

6 And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; I will defend this city.

7 And this will be a sign to you from the Lord that the Lord will fulfill this word he has spoken:

8 Behold, I will make the shadow of the degrees, which passed with the sun by the degrees of the dial of Ahaz, go back ten degrees. So the sun went back ten degrees by the degrees it had gone.

10 I said, "In the quiet of my days I will go to the gates of Sheol; I have already been deprived of the rest of my years."

11 I said, "I will no longer see the Lord in the land of the living; I will never see man with the inhabitants of the world." 

12 My life is gone, and it is removed from me like a shepherd's hut. I have cut off my life like a weaver; you will cut me off like a loom; from morning to evening you will destroy me.

13 I lay still until dawn; like a lion you have broken all my bones; from morning to evening you will destroy me.

14 Like a crane or a swallow, so I chattered, and moaned like a dove. I lifted up my eyes on high: O Lord, I am in distress! Be my surety.

15 What shall I say? As you promised, so you have done: so I will pass through all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.

16 Lord, by these things one lives, and in all these things is the life of my spirit; therefore, heal me and revive me.

17 Behold, for my peace I have been in great bitterness; But you have so lovingly embraced my soul that it has not fallen into the pit of corruption, because you have cast all my sins behind your back.

18 For Sheol cannot praise you, death cannot glorify you; those who go down to the pit will not hope for your truth.

19 The living, the living, will praise you, as I do today; a father will make known your truth to his children.

20 The Lord came to save me; therefore, playing my instruments, we will praise him all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.

21 And Isaiah said, "Take a lump of figs and put it as a poultice on the wound, and it will be healed."

22 And Hezekiah said, "What will be the sign that I will go up to the house of the Lord?"

1 Naqueles dias Ezequias adoeceu duma enfermidade mortal: e veio a ele Isaías, filho de Amós, o profeta, e lhe disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Põe em ordem a tua casa, porque morrerás, e não viverás.

2 Então virou Ezequias o seu rosto para a parede, e orou ao Senhor.

3 E disse: Ah! Senhor, lembra-te, peço-te, de que andei diante de ti em verdade, e com coração perfeito, e fiz o que era reto aos teus olhos. E chorou Ezequias muitíssimo.

4 Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Isaías, dizendo:

5 Vai, e dize a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Davi teu pai: Ouvi a tua oração, e vi as tuas lágrimas; eis que acrescentarei aos teus dias quinze anos.

6 E livrar-te-ei das mãos do rei da Assíria, a ti, e esta cidade; eu defenderei esta cidade.

7 E isto te será da parte do Senhor como sinal de que o Senhor cumprirá esta palavra que falou:

8 Eis que farei que a sombra dos graus, que passou com o sol pelos graus do relógio de Acaz, volte dez graus atrás. Assim recuou o sol dez graus pelos graus que já tinha andado.

9 Escrituras de Ezequias, rei de Judá, de quando adoeceu e sarou de sua enfermidade.

10 Eu disse: Na tranqüilidade de meus dias ir-me-ei às portas da sepultura: já estou privado do resto de meus anos.

11 Eu disse: Já não verei mais ao Senhor na terra dos viventes: jamais verei o homem com os moradores do mundo.

12 O tempo da minha vida se foi, e foi removido de mim, como choça de pastor: cortei como tecelão a minha vida: como que do tear me cortará; desde a manhã até à noite me acabarás.

13 Eu sosseguei até a madrugada; como um leão quebrou todos os meus ossos: desde a manhã até à noite me acabarás.

14 Como o grou, ou a andorinha, assim eu chilreava, e gemia como a pomba: alçava os meus olhos ao alto: ó Senhor, ando oprimido! Fica por meu fiador.

15 Que direi? Como mo prometeu, assim o fez:  assim passarei mansamente por todos os meus anos, por causa da amargura da minha alma.

16 Senhor, com estas coisas se vive, e em todas elas está a vida do meu espírito; portanto, cura-me e faze-me viver.

17 Eis que para a minha paz, eu estive em grande amargura; tu porém tão amorosamente abraçaste a minha alma, que não caiu na cova da corrupção, porque lançaste para trás das tuas costas todos os meus pecados.

18 Porque não pode louvar-te a sepultura, nem a morte glorificar-te: nem esperarão em tua verdade os que descem à cova.

19 Os vivos, os vivos, esses te louvarão como eu hoje faço: o pai aos filhos fará notória a tua verdade.

20 O Senhor veio salvar-me: pelo que, tangendo eu meus instrumentos, nós o louvaremos todos os dias de nossa vida na casa do Senhor.

21 E dissera Isaías: Tomem uma pasta de figos, e a ponham como emplasto sobre a chaga; e sarará.

22 Também dissera Ezequias: Qual será o sinal de que hei de subir à casa do Senhor?

6 यशायाह ने उससे कहा, "तू अपने स्वामी से यह कहना, 'यहोवा यों कहता है: उन बातों से मत डर जो तूने सुनी हैं, जिनके द्वारा अश्शूर के राजा के सेवकों ने मेरी निन्दा की है।'

8 तब रबशाके लौट आया और उसने अश्शूर के राजा को लिब्ना से लड़ते हुए पाया, क्योंकि उसने सुना था कि वह लाकीश से हट गया है।

9 और उसने सुना कि कूश का राजा तिर्हाका उससे लड़ने के लिए निकला है। जब उसने यह सुना, तो उसने हिजकिय्याह के पास दूत भेजकर यह कहा:

12 क्या उन जातियों के देवताओं ने, जिन्हें मेरे पूर्वजों ने नष्ट किया था, उन्हें बचाया: गोजान, हारान, रेसेप और एदेन के लोग, जो तलस्सार में रहते थे?

13 हमात का राजा, अर्पद का राजा, सपर्वैम नगर का राजा, हेना और इव्वा कहाँ हैं?

14 तब हिजकिय्याह ने दूतों से पत्र प्राप्त किए और उन्हें पढ़ा, और यहोवा के भवन में गया, और हिजकिय्याह ने उन्हें यहोवा के सामने फैला दिया।

1 When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the Lord.

2 He sent Eliakim, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet son of Amoz.

3 They said to him, "This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of trouble and reproach and blasphemy, because children are near birth, and there is no strength to bear them.

4 Perhaps the Lord your God has heard the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, sent to reproach the living God and to reproach him with the words that the Lord your God has heard. Pray for the remnant that is left."

 5 Then the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

6 And Isaiah said to him, "Thus you shall say to your master: 'This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid of the words you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.'

7 Behold, I will put a spirit within him, and he will hear a rumor and return to his own land; and I will strike him down with the sword in his own land."

8 So Rabshakeh returned and found the king of Assyria fighting against Libnah, for he had heard that he had withdrawn from Lachish.

9 And he heard that Tirhakah king of Ethiopia had come out to fight against him. When he heard this, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying:

10 Thus shall you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not your God, in whom you trust, deceive you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

11 Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, destroying them utterly: and would you escape?

12 Did the gods of the nations whom my fathers destroyed deliver them: Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden, who were in Telassar?

13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?

14 So Hezekiah received the letters from the messengers and read them, and went up to the house of the Lord, and Hezekiah spread them out before the Lord. 

15 And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying:

16 O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, who dwellest between the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

17 Incline thine ear, O Lord, and hear: open thine eyes, O Lord, and behold; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he hath sent to reproach the living God.

18 It is true, O Lord, that the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the countries, and their lands.

19 And they have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they destroyed them.

20 Now therefore, O Lord our God, deliver us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou, the Lord, art he only. 

21 Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'As for what you asked of me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,

22 This is the word the Lord spoke about him: The virgin, the daughter of Zion, despises you and mocks you; the daughter of Jerusalem shakes her head behind you.

23 Whom have you defied and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

24 By your servants you have defied the Lord and said, "With the multitude of my chariots I have gone up to the heights of the mountains, to the outer reaches of Lebanon; I will cut down its tall cedars and its choice fir trees, and I will enter its highest peak, into the forest of its fruitful field." 

25 I dug and drank the waters; and with the soles of my feet I dried up all the rivers of Egypt.

26 Have you not heard that I did this long ago, and that from ancient times I had it in mind? But now it is done, and I have willed that you should destroy the fortified cities and reduce them to desolate heaps.

27 Therefore their inhabitants, with their hands hanging down, were afraid and ashamed; they were like the grass of the field, and the green grass, and the hay on the housetops, and the wheat burned before the harvest.

28 But I know your sitting down, and your going out, and your coming in, and your fury against me.

29 Because of your anger against me, and because your arrogance has come up to my ears, behold, I will put my hook in your nose and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came. 

30 And this shall be a sign unto you: This year you shall eat that which grows of its own accord, and in the second year that which grows thereof. But in the third year sow, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.

31 For the remnant that escaped of the house of Judah, and is left, shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

32 For out of Jerusalem shall come the remnant, and out of Mount Zion he that escaped: the zeal of the Lord of hosts shall do this.

33 Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the king of Assyria; He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with a shield, nor cast a siege against it.

34 By the way that he came, by that shall he return; but into this city he shall not come, saith the Lord.

35 For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for the sake of my servant David.

36 Then the angel of the Lord went out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead bodies.

37 So Sennacherib king of Assyria withdrew and went, and returned and dwelt in Nineveh.

38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sherezer his sons struck him down with the sword; and they fled to the land of Ararat, and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.

1 E aconteceu que, tendo ouvido isto o rei Ezequias, rasgou os seus vestidos, e se cobriu de saco, e entrou na casa do Senhor.

2 E enviou Eliaquim, o mordomo, e Sebna, o escrivão, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes, cobertos de sacos, a Isaías, filho de Amós, o profeta.

3 E disseram-lhe: Assim diz Ezequias: Este dia é dia de angústia e de vitupérios, e de blasfêmias, porque chegados são os filhos ao parto, e força não há para os dar à luz.

4 Porventura o Senhor teu Deus terá ouvido as palavras de Rabsaqué, a quem enviou o rei da Assíria, seu amo, para afrontar o Deus vivo, e para o vituperar com as palavras que o Senhor teu Deus tem ouvido: faze oração pelo resto que ficou.

11 Eis que já tens ouvido o que fizeram os reis da Assíria a todas as terras, destruindo-as totalmente: e escaparias tu?

12 Porventura as livraram os deuses das nações que meus pais destruíram: Gozã, e Harã, e Rezefe, e os filhos de Éden, que estavam em Telassar?

13 Onde está o rei de Hamate, e o rei de Arpade, e o rei da cidade de Sefarvaim, Hena e Iva?

14 Recebendo pois Ezequias as cartas das mãos dos mensageiros, e lendo-as subiu à casa do Senhor, e Ezequias as estendeu perante o Senhor.

15 E orou Ezequias ao Senhor, dizendo:

18 Verdade é, Senhor, que os reis da Assíria assolaram todos os países, e suas terras.

19 E lançaram no fogo os seus deuses; porque deuses não eram, senão obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso os destruíram.

20 Agora pois, ó Senhor nosso Deus, livra-nos da sua mão, para que todos os reinos da terra conheçam que só tu és o Senhor.

21 Então Isaías, filho de Amós, mandou dizer a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: Quanto ao que me pediste acerca de Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria,

22 Esta é a palavra que o Senhor falou a respeito dele: A virgem, a filha de Sião, te despreza, e de ti zomba; a filha de Jerusalém meneia a cabeça por detrás de ti.

23 A quem afrontaste e de quem blasfemaste? E contra quem alçaste a voz, e ergueste os teus olhos ao alto? Contra o Santo de Israel.

24 Por meio de teus servos afrontaste o Senhor, e disseste: Com a multidão dos meus carros subi eu aos cumes dos montes, aos últimos recessos do Líbano; e cortarei os seus altos cedros e as suas faias escolhidas, e entrarei no seu cume mais elevado, no bosque do seu campo fértil.

25 Eu cavei, e bebi as águas: e com as plantas de meus pés sequei todos os rios do Egito.

26 Porventura não ouviste que já muito antes eu fiz isto, e já desde os dias antigos o tinha pensado? Agora porém se cumpre, e eu quis que tu fosses que destruísses as cidades fortes, e as reduzisses a montões assolados.

27 Por isso os seus moradores, com as mãos caídas, andaram atemorizados e envergonhados: eram como a erva do campo, e a erva verde, e o feno dos telhados, e o trigo queimado antes da seara.

28 Mas eu conheço o teu assentar, e o teu sair, e o teu entrar, e o teu furor contra mim.

29 Por causa da tua raiva contra mim, e porque a tua arrogância subiu até aos meus ouvidos, eis que porei o meu anzol no teu nariz e o meu freio nos teus beiços, e te farei voltar pelo caminho por onde vieste.

30 E isto te será por sinal: este ano se comerá o que espontaneamente nascer, e no segundo ano o que dai proceder: mas no terceiro ano semeai e segai, e plantai vinhas, e come os frutos delas.

31 Porque o que escapou da casa de Judá, e ficou de resto, tornará a lançar raízes para baixo, e dará fruto para cima.

32 Porque de Jerusalém sairá o restante, e do monte de Sião o que escapou: o zelo do Senhor dos Exércitos fará isto.

33 Pelo que assim diz o Senhor acerca do rei da Assíria: Não entrará nesta cidade, nem lançará nela flecha alguma tampouco virá perante ela com escudo ou levantará contra ela tranqueira.

34 Pelo caminho por onde vier, por esse voltará; mas nesta cidade não entrará diz o Senhor.

35 Porque eu ampararei esta cidade para a livrar, por amor de mim e por amor do meu servo Davi.

36 Então saiu o anjo do Senhor, e feriu no arraial dos assírios a cento e oitenta e cinco mil; e quando se levantaram pela manhã cedo, eis que tudo eram corpos mortos.

37 Assim Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, se retirou, e se foi, e voltou, e ficou em Nínive.

38 E sucedeu que, estando ele prostrado na casa de Nisroque, seu deus, Adrameleque e Serezer, seus filhos, o feriram à espada; e eles fugiram para a terra de Arará, e Esaradom, seu filho reinou em seu lugar.

2 तब अश्शूर के राजा ने रबशाके को एक बड़ी सेना के साथ लाकीश से यरूशलेम में राजा हिजकिय्याह के पास भेजा। वह धोबी के खेत की ओर जाने वाली सड़क के किनारे, ऊपरी तालाब के मुहाने पर खड़ा था।

7 परन्तु यदि तू मुझ से कहे, ‘हम अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा पर भरोसा रखते हैं,’ तो क्या यह वही नहीं है जिसके ऊँचे स्थानों और वेदियों को हिजकिय्याह ने हटा दिया है, और यहूदा और यरूशलेम से कहा है, ‘तुम इस वेदी के साम्हने दण्डवत् करोगे?’

8 इसलिए अब मेरे प्रभु अश्शूर के राजा के पास बन्धक ले जा, और मैं तुझे दो हज़ार घोड़े दूँगा, यदि तू उन्हें सवार दे सके।

9 जब तू मेरे प्रभु के छोटे से छोटे सेवक का भी मुँह नहीं मोड़ सकता, तो फिर तू रथों और घुड़सवारों के कारण मिस्र पर भरोसा क्यों करता है? 

10 क्या मैं यहोवा की आज्ञा के बिना इस देश पर चढ़ाई करके इसे नष्ट कर दूँ? यहोवा ने स्वयं मुझसे कहा, 'इस देश पर चढ़ाई करके इसे नष्ट कर दे।'

11 तब एल्याकीम, शेब्ना और योआह ने रबशाके से कहा, 'कृपया अपने सेवकों से अरामी भाषा में बात कर, क्योंकि हम उसे समझते हैं, और शहरपनाह पर बैठे लोगों के सुनते हुए यहूदा में हमसे बात न कर।'

1 In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.

2 Then the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to King Hezekiah with a large army. He stood at the mouth of the upper pool, by the road to the fuller's field.

3 Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph, the recorder, went out to him.

4 Rabshakeh said to them, "Now tell Hezekiah, 'This is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: What confidence is this that you show?

5 I might well say, 'Your counsel and might for war are but empty words. In whom then do you trust, that you rebel against me?'

6 Behold, you trust in that staff of broken reed, even in Egypt, which, if anyone leans on, will go through his hand and pierce it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

7 But if you say to me, 'We trust in the Lord our God,' is it not he whose high places and altars Hezekiah has taken away, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, 'You shall bow down before this altar?'

8 Now therefore, give hostages to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able to give them riders.

9 How is it that, since you cannot turn your face to one of the least of my lord's servants, do you trust in Egypt because of chariots and horsemen? 

10 Have I now gone up against this land without the Lord to destroy it? The Lord himself said to me, 'Go up against this land and destroy it.'

11 Then Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah said to Rabshakeh, 'Please speak to your servants in Syriac, for we understand it, and do not speak to us in Judah in the hearing of the people on the wall.'

12 But Rabshakeh said, 'Did my master send me only to your master and to you to speak these words? Or not rather to the men who sit on the wall, so that they may eat their dung and drink their urine with you?'

13 So Rabshakeh stood up and cried out with a loud voice in Judah, and said, 'Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!'

14 Thus says the king: 'Let not Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you.

15 Nor should Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, 'The Lord will surely deliver us, and this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.'

16 Do not listen to Hezekiah, for thus says the king of Assyria: 'Make a covenant with me, and come out to me, and let each of you eat from his own vine and fig tree, and drink water from his own cistern;

17 until I come and take you to a land like your own, a land of grain and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.'

18 Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, saying, 'The Lord will deliver us.' Have the gods of the nations each delivered his own land from the hand of the king of Assyria?

19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand? 

20 Who are they among all the gods of these countries who have delivered their land out of my hand, so that the Lord would deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

21 But they remained silent and did not answer him a word, for the king had commanded, "You shall not answer him."

22 Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

1 E aconteceu no ano décimo quarto do rei Ezequias que Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria subiu contra todas as cidades fortes de Judá, e as tomou.

2 Então o rei da Assíria enviou Rabsaqué, desde Laquis a Jerusalém, ao rei Ezequias com um grande exército; e ele parou junto ao cano do tanque mais alto, junto ao caminho do campo do lavandeiro.

3 Então saiu a ele Eliaquim, filho de Hilquias, o mordomo, e Sebna, o escrivão, e Joá, filho de Asafe, o chanceler.

4 E Rabsaqué lhes disse: Ora dizei a Ezequias: Assim diz o grande rei, o rei da Assíria: Que confiança é esta, que tu manifestas?

5 Bem posso eu dizer: Teu conselho e poder para a guerra são apenas vãs palavras: em quem pois agora confias, que contra mim te rebelas?

6 Eis que confias naquele bordão de cana quebrada, a saber, no Egito, que, se alguém se apoiar nele, lhe entrará pela mão, e lha furará: assim é Faraó rei do Egito, para com todos os que nele confiam.

7 Mas se me disseres: No Senhor, nosso Deus, confiamos; porventura não é esse aquele cujos altos e cujos altares Ezequias tirou, e disse a Judá e a Jerusalém: Perante este altar vos inclinareis?

8 Ora pois dá agora reféns ao meu senhor, o rei da Assíria, e dar-te-ei dois mil cavalos, se tu puderes dar cavalheiros para eles.

9Como, não podendo tu voltar o rosto a um só príncipe dos mínimos servos do meu senhor, confias no Egito, por causa dos carros e cavaleiros?

10 E subi eu agora sem o Senhor contra esta terra, para destruí-la? O Senhor mesmo me disse: Sobe contra esta terra, e destrói-a.

11 Então disse Eliaquim, e Sebna, e Joá, a Rabsaqué: Pedimos-te que fales aos teus servos em siríaco, porque bem o entendemos, e não nos fale em judaico, aos ouvidos do povo que está sobre os muros.

12 Mas Rabsaqué disse: Porventura mandou-me o meu senhor só ao teu senhor e a ti, para dizer estas palavras? E não antes aos homens que estão assentados sobre os muros, para que comam convosco o seu esterco, e bebam a sua urina?

13 Rabsaqué pois se pôs em pé, e clamou em alta voz em judaico, e disse: Ouvi as palavras do grande rei, do rei da Assíria.

14 Assim diz o rei: Não vos engane Ezequias: porque não vos poderá livrar.

15 Nem tão pouco Ezequias vos faça confiar no Senhor, dizendo: Infalivelmente nos livrará o Senhor, e esta cidade não será entregue nas mãos do rei da Assíria.

16 Não deis ouvidos a Ezequias; porque assim diz o rei da Assíria: Aliai-vos comigo, e sai a mim, e coma cada um da sua vide, e da sua figueira, e beba cada um da água da sua cisterna;

17 Até que eu venha, e vos leve para uma terra como a vossa: terra de trigo e de mosto, terra de pão e de vinhas.

18 Não vos engane Ezequias, dizendo: O Senhor nos livrará. Porventura os deuses das nações livraram cada um a sua terra das mãos do rei da Assíria?

19 Onde estão os deuses de Hamate e de Arpade? Onde estão os deuses da Sefarvaim? Porventura livraram eles a Samaria da minha mão?

20 Quais são eles, dentre todos os deuses destes países, os que livraram a sua terra das minhas mãos para que o Senhor livrasse a Jerusalém das minhas mãos?

2 वह खूब खिलेगा, हर्ष से मगन होगा और जयजयकार करेगा। उसे लेबनान की महिमा, कर्मेल और शारोन की महिमा दी जाएगी। वे यहोवा की महिमा, हमारे परमेश्वर की महिमा देखेंगे।

4 Say to those who are of a fearful heart: 'Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with a recompense from God; he will come and save you.'

5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.

 6 Then the lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing. For in the wilderness waters will burst out, and streams in the desert.

7 The parched ground will become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water. In the dwellings of jackals, where they lay, there will be grass with reeds and rushes.

8 There will be a highway, a way that will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not pass through it, but it will be for those who walk, even fools, will not wander off.

9 No lion will be there, nor will any wild animal go up on it, nor will it be found there. But the redeemed will walk along it.

10 The ransomed of the Lord will return and come to Zion with singing, and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

1 O deserto e os lugares secos se alegrarão disto; e o ermo exultará; e florescerá como a rosa.

2 Abundantemente florescerá, e também regorgitará de alegria e exultará; a glória do Líbano se lhe deu, a excelência do Carmelo e Sarom: eles verão a glória do Senhor, a excelência do nosso Deus.

3 Confortai as mãos fracas, e fortalecei os joelhos trementes.

4 Dizei aos turbados de coração: Esforçai-vos, não temais: eis que o vosso Deus virá com vingança, com recompensa de Deus; ele virá, e vos salvará.

5 Então os olhos dos cegos serão abertos, e os ouvidos dos surdos se abrirão.

6 Então os coxos saltarão como cervos, e a língua dos mudos cantará: porque águas arrebentarão no deserto e ribeiros no ermo.

7 E a terra seca se transformará em tanques, e a terra sedenta em mananciais de águas; e nas habitações em que jaziam os chacais haverá erva com canas e juncos.

8 E ali haverá um alto caminho, um caminho que se chamará o caminho santo; o imundo não passará por ele, mas será para aqueles: os caminhantes, até mesmo os loucos, não errarão.

9 Ali não haverá leão, nem animal feroz subirá a ele, nem se achará nele: mas os remidos andarão por ele.

1 Come near, O nations, and listen, and give ear, O peoples! Let the earth hear, and all its fullness, the world, and all that comes from it.

2 For the indignation of the Lord is against all the nations, and his fury against all their host; he has utterly destroyed them, he has given them over to slaughter.

3 Their slain will be thrown down, and a stench will rise from their bodies; and the mountains will melt with their blood.

4 All the host of heaven will be consumed, and the heavens will be rolled together like a scroll; all their host will fall, as a leaf falls from the vine, and as a fig falls from the fig tree.

5 For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens; behold, it will come down on Edom, and on the people of my curse, to execute judgment. 

6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is filled with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

7 And the unicorns will come down with them, and the calves with the bulls; and their land will drink its fill of blood, and their dust will be filled with fat.

8 For it will be the day of the Lord's vengeance, a year of recompense for the warfare of Zion.

9 And her streams will be turned into pitch, and her dust into sulfur, and her land into burning pitch.

10 It will not be quenched night or day; its smoke will ascend forever; from generation to generation it will lie desolate; from age to age no one will pass through it.

11 But the pelican and the owl will possess it, and the owl and the raven will inhabit it; and he will stretch out over it a line of confusion and a level of vanity. 

12 They will call its nobles to the kingdom, but none will be there, and all its princes will be nothing.

13 Thorns will grow in its palaces, nettles and thistles in its fortresses; it will be a den for dragons, and savanna for the young ostrich.

14 Wild dogs will meet wild cats, and the satyr will cry to its mate. The night creatures will rest there and find a resting place for themselves.

15 There the mermaid will line up and lay her eggs, and will hatch her chicks and gather them under her shadow. There the vultures will gather together.

16 Seek in the book of the Lord and read; none of these things will fail, neither will one thing be missing; for my own mouth has commanded, and his spirit will gather them. 

17 For he cast the lot for them, and his hand divided the land to them by line: they shall possess it forever; from generation to generation they shall dwell therein.

17 तुम्हारी आँखें राजा को उसकी सुन्दरता में देखेंगी, और वे उस देश को भी देखेंगी जो दूर है।

23 तुम्हारी रस्सियाँ ढीली हैं; वे न तो अपने मस्तूल को बाँध सकती हैं, न अपने पाल फैला सकती हैं; तब प्रचुर लूट का शिकार बाँट लिया जाएगा; यहाँ तक कि लंगड़े भी शिकार चुरा लेंगे। 

24 और वहां के निवासियों में से कोई यह न कहेगा कि मैं रोगी हूं; क्योंकि जो लोग वहां रहेंगे उनका अधर्म क्षमा किया जाएगा।
