1 Prosseguiu ainda Eliú, e disse:

2 Espera-me um pouco, e mostrar-te-ei que ainda há razões a favor de Deus.

3 Desde longe repetirei a minha opinião; e ao meu Criador atribuirei a justiça.

4 Porque na verdade, as minhas palavras não serão falsas; contigo está um que é sincero na sua opinião.

5 Eis que Deus é mui grande, contudo a ninguém despreza: grande é em força de coração.

6 Não deixa viver o ímpio, e faz justiça aos aflitos.

7 Do justo não tira os seus olhos, antes com os reis no trono os assenta para sempre, e assim são exaltados.

8 E se não estão presos em grilhões, e amarrados em cordas de aflição,

9 Então lhes faz saber a obra deles, e as suas transgressões; porquanto prevaleceram nelas.

10 E revela-lho aos seus ouvidos, para seu ensino, e diz-lhes que se convertam da maldade.

11 Se o ouvirem, e o servirem, acabarão seus dias em bem, e os seus anos em delícias.

12 Porém se o não ouvirem, à espada serão passados, e expirarão sem conhecimento.

13 E os hipócritas de coração amontoam para si a ira; e amarrando-os ele, não clamam por socorro.

14 Eles morrem na mocidade, e a sua vida perece entre os sodomitas.

15 Ao aflito livra da sua aflição, e na opressão se revela aos seus ouvidos.

16 Assim também te desviará da angústia para um lugar espaçoso, em que não há aperto, e as iguarias da tua mesa serão cheias de gordura.

17 Mas tu estás cheio do juízo do ímpio; o juízo e a justiça te sustentam.

18 Porquanto há furor, guarda-te de que porventura não sejas levado pela tua suficiência, nem te desvie a grandeza do resgate.

19 Estimaria ele tanto tuas riquezas, ou todos os esforços da tua força, que por isso não estivesses em aperto?

20 Não suspires pela noite, em que os povos sejam tomados do seu lugar.

24 Lembra-te de engrandecer a sua obra que os homens contemplam.

25 Todos os homens a vêem, e o homem a enxerga de longe.

26 Eis que Deus é grande, e nós o não compreendemos, e o número dos seus anos não se pode calcular.

27 Porque reúne as gotas das águas que derrama em chuva do seu vapor.

28 A qual as nuvens destilam e gotejam sobre o homem abundantemente.

29 Porventura também se poderão entender as extensões das nuvens, e os trovões da sua tenda?

30 Eis que estende sobre elas a sua luz e encobre os altos do mar.

31 Porque por estas coisas julga os povos e lhes dá mantimento em abundância.

33 O que não dá a entender o seu pensamento, como também aos gados, acerca do temporal que sobe.

9 Por causa da grandeza da opressão eles clamam: eles clamam por causa do braço dos grandes.

10 Mas ninguém diz: Onde está Deus que me fez, que dá salmos entre a noite;

11 Que nos faz mais doutos do que os animais da terra, e nos faz mais sábios do que as aves dos céus?

Elihu Accuses Job of Speaking Unfairly of God

1 Then Elihu answered and said,

2 Hear my words, you wise men; and, you who have understanding, give ear to me.

3 For the ear tests words as the palate tests food.

4 Let us choose what is right for ourselves; and let us know among ourselves what is good.

5 For Job said, "I am righteous, and God has taken away my right."

6 Despite my right, I am found a liar; my wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.

7 Who is like Job, who drinks mockery like water?

8 Who walks in the company of workers of iniquity, and associates with wicked men?

9 For he said, "It profits a man nothing to delight himself in God." 

10 Therefore, you men of understanding, listen to me. Far be it from God to do wickedness, and from the Almighty to do wickedness! 

11 For according to a man's work he will repay him, and he will cause every man to find according to his way. 

12 And indeed God will not do wickedly, nor will the Almighty pervert justice.

 13 Who has given him the government of the earth? And who has ordained the whole world? 

14 If he should set his heart against man, and should gather to himself his spirit and his breath, 

15 All flesh would perish together, and man would return to the dust. 

16 If there is understanding in you, hear this; incline your ear to the voice of my speech. 

17 Should he who hates justice rule? And will you condemn the just and mighty? 

18 Or will they say to a king, "Oh, Belial!" Or to princes, Oh, the wicked!

19 How much less he who shows no partiality to princes, nor esteems the rich more than the poor, for all are the work of his hands!

20 In a moment they die; and at midnight the people are troubled and pass away, and the mighty are taken without hand.

21 For his eyes are on the ways of every man, and he sees all his steps.

22 There is no darkness nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity hide.

23 For a man does not need much consideration to bring him to judgment before God.

24 He breaks down the mighty, without inquiry, and sets others in their place.

25 For he knows their works; in the night he overthrows them, and they are crushed.

26 He strikes them as the wicked in the sight of him who sees them; 

27 Because they have turned away from him, and have not understood any of his ways; 

28 That he might cause the cry of the poor to come to him, and that he might hear the cry of the afflicted.

 29 If he be silent, who then can disturb? If he hide his face, who then can behold him, whether it be for a people, or for one man? 

30 That the hypocrite may never reign, and there be no snare in the people. 

31 Surely he who said to God, "I have suffered, I will sin no more"; 

32 What I do not see, teach me; if I have done anything wicked, I will do it no more. 

33 How shall my recompense come from you, that you should despise it? Therefore, you, and not I, choose; who then is he that knoweth? Speak. 

34 Men of understanding will say with me, and the wise man that heareth me, 

35 Job spoke without knowledge; and his words lack prudence.

36 My father, let Job be tested to the end by his answers, like those of evil men.

37 For he adds transgression to his sin; he claps his hands among us and multiplies his arguments against God.

29 Se ele aquietar, quem então inquietará? Se encobrir o rosto, quem então o poderá contemplar, seja para com um povo, seja para com um homem só?

30 Para que o homem hipócrita nunca reine, e não haja laços no povo.

31 Na verdade, quem disse a Deus: Sofri, não pecarei mais;

1 हे अय्यूब, मेरी बात सुन, और मेरे सब वचनों पर कान लगा।

2 देख, मैं ने अपना मुंह खोल दिया है; पहले से ही मेरे तालू के नीचे मेरी जीभ बोली।

3 मेरे वचन मेरे हृदय की सच्चाई से निकलेंगे, और मेरे होठों से शुद्ध ज्ञान निकलेगा।

1 Now therefore, O Job, hear my speech, and give ear to all my words.

2 Behold, I have opened my mouth; my tongue has spoken under my roof.

3 My speech shall come from the sincerity of my heart, and pure knowledge from my lips.

4 The Spirit of God made me, and the inspiration of the Almighty gave me life.

5 If you are able, answer me; set forth your speech well, and arise.

6 Behold, I came from God, as you are; out of the clay I was taken.

7 Behold, my terror shall not terrify you, nor shall my hand be heavy upon you.

8 Surely you have spoken in my ears, and I have heard the voice of your words:

9 You said, I am clean, without transgression; I am pure; and I am without guilt.

10 Behold, he finds occasions against me, and has counted me as his enemy.

11 He puts my feet in the stocks, and watches all my paths.

12 Behold, in this I answer you: You have not been righteous, for God is greater than man.

13 Why do you strive with him? Because he gives no account of any of his works.

14 But God speaks once and twice, but no one considers.

15 In a dream or in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, and they slumber in bed,

16 Then he opens the ears of men, and seals up his instruction,

17 To turn man away from his counsel, and hide pride from man;

18 To turn back their soul from the pit, and their life from perishing by the sword.

19 He is punished with pain also on his bed, and with the unceasing strife of his bones; 

20 So that his life abhors even bread, and his soul dainty food. 

21 His flesh is gone before our eyes, and his bones, which were not seen, are now visible; 

22 His soul draws near to the pit, and his life to the bringer of death. 

23 If there is with him a messenger, an interpreter, one among thousands, to show man his righteousness,

 24 Then he will have mercy on him, and will say to him, 'Deliver him from going down to the pit; I have found a ransom.'

 25 His flesh will be fresher than in his childhood, and he will return to the days of his youth. 

26 He will pray to God, and he will be pleased with him, and he will see his face with joy, and he will restore to man his righteousness.

 27 He will look upon men and say, 'I have sinned and perverted justice, and it did not profit me.' 

28 But God has delivered my soul from going to the pit, and my life will see the light.

29 Behold, all this is the work of God, twice and thrice with man,

30 To bring back his soul from destruction, and to enlighten him with the light of the living.

2 Then Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was angered; his anger was kindled against Job, because he justified himself more than God.

3 His anger was also kindled against his three friends, because they could not find an answer, yet they condemned Job.

4 But Elihu waited to speak to Job, because they were older than he.

5 When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men, his anger was kindled.

6 Then Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, "I am younger, and you are older; I was afraid and afraid to tell you my opinion." 

7 I said, "Let days speak, and multitude of years teach wisdom."

 8 Surely there is a spirit in man, and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding. 

9 Great men are not wise, nor do old men understand what is right. 

10 Therefore I say, "Listen to me, and I have also declared my opinion."

 11 Behold, I have waited for your words, and have given ear to your arguments, until you sought out reasons. 

12 When I consider you, behold, there is not one of you who can convince Job, or answer his arguments. 

13 Lest you say, "We have found wisdom; God has overthrown him, and not man." 

14 Now he has not spoken a word against me, nor will I answer him with your words. 

15 They are astonished, they no longer answer; their words fail them. 

16 So I waited, but they did not speak; for they have stopped and do not answer.

17 I will also answer for myself; I will also declare my opinion.

18 For I am full of words; my spirit constrains me.

19 Behold, my belly is like wine without vent; it will burst like new wineskins.

20 I will speak and breathe; I will open my lips and answer.

21 Oh that I were not partial or flattering with man!

1 I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then should I look upon a virgin?

2 For what is the portion of God from above, or the inheritance of the Almighty from on high?

3 Is not destruction to the wicked, and destruction to those who do iniquity?

4 Does he not see my ways, and count all my steps?

5 If I have walked in vanity, and if my foot has hastened to deceit,

6 (Let him weigh me in the balances of truth, and God will know my integrity);

7 If my steps have turned out of the way, and if my heart has followed my eyes, and if anything has taken hold of my hands,

8 Then let me sow, and another eat, and let my offspring be plucked up by the roots.

 9 If my heart has been enticed by a woman, or if I have lurked at my neighbor's door, 

10 then let my wife be crushed for another, and let others bow down over her. 

11 For that would be an infamous thing, and an offense to be dealt with by the judges. 

12 For it is a fire that consumes to destruction, and it would destroy all my income. 

13 If I have despised the right of my manservant or my maidservant when they contended with me, 

14 then what should I do when God arises? And when he inquires into the matter, what should I answer him? 

15 Did not he who formed me in the womb make them? Or did he not also form us in the womb? 

16 If I have withheld what the poor desired, or caused the widow's eyes to fail; 

17 Or have I eaten only my morsel, and the fatherless has not eaten thereof;

18 (For from my youth he grew up with me, as with his father; and I have guided him from my mother's womb);

19 If I have seen any perish for lack of clothing, and the needy for lack of covering;

20 If his loins have not blessed me, if he has not been warmed with the skins of my lambs;

21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate;

22 Then my shoulder shall fall from my shoulder, and my arm shall be broken from the bone.

23 For the chastening of God was a terror to me, and I could not bear its greatness.

24 If I have put my hope in gold, or said to fine gold, "You are my trust;" 

25 If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;

30 (I also did not let my palate sin, wishing his death with a curse); 

31 If the people of my tent did not say, "Ah, who has not been satisfied with his meat!" 

32 The stranger did not spend the night in the street; I opened my gates to the traveler; 

33 If, like Adam, I covered my transgressions, hiding my sin in my bosom;

 34 Let me tremble before a great multitude, and let the contempt of families terrify me, and let me be silent, and not go out of the door.

35 Oh, that one might hear me! Behold, my purpose is that the Almighty would answer me, and that my adversary would write a book.

36 Surely I would carry it on my shoulder, I would bind it upon me as a crown.

37 I would show him the number of my steps; I would come to him as a prince.

38 If my land cries out against me, and its furrows mourn together;

39 If I have eaten its increase without money, and choked the soul of its owners.

40 Let thistles bring forth instead of wheat, and tares instead of barley. The words of Job are finished.

10 Então moa minha mulher para outro, e outros se encurvem sobre ela.

11 Porque isso seria uma infâmia, e delito pertencente aos juízes.

12 Porque é fogo que consome até à perdição, e desarraigaria toda a minha renda.

13 Se desprezei o direito do meu servo ou da minha serva, quando eles contendiam comigo,

14 Então que faria eu quando Deus se levantasse? E, inquirindo a causa, que lhe responderia?

15 Aquele que me formou no ventre não o fez também e ele? Ou não nos formou do mesmo modo na madre?

16 Se retive o que os pobres desejavam, ou fiz desfalecer os olhos da viúva;

17 Ou só comi o meu bocado, e o órfão não comeu dele,

18 (Porque desde a minha mocidade cresceu comigo como com seu pai, e o guiei desde o ventre de minha mãe);

19 Se a alguém vi perecer por falta de vestido, e ao necessitado por não ter coberta;

20 Se os seus lombos me não abençoaram, se ele não se aquentava com as peles dos meus cordeiros;

21 Se eu levantei a minha mão contra o órfão, porque na porta via a minha ajuda;

22 Então caia do ombro a minha espádua, e quebre-se o meu braço desde o osso.

23 Porque o castigo de Deus era para mim um assombro, e eu não podia suportar a sua grandeza.

24 Se no ouro pus a minha esperança, ou disse ao ouro fino: Tu és a minha confiança;

25 Se me alegrei de que era muita a minha fazenda, e de que a minha mão tinha alcançado muito;

26 Se olhei para o sol, quando resplandecia, ou para a lua, caminhando gloriosa,

27 E o meu coração se deixou enganar em oculto, e a minha boca beijou a minha mão,

28 Também isto seria delito pertencente ao juiz; pois assim negaria a Deus que está em cima.

29 Se me alegrei da desgraça do que me tem ódio, e se eu exultei quando o mal o achou

30 (Também não deixei pecar o meu paladar, desejando a sua morte com maldição);

31 Se a gente da minha tenda não disse: Ah! Quem não se terá saciado com a sua carne!

32 O estrangeiro não passava a noite na rua; as minhas portas abria ao viajante;

33 Se, como Adão encobri as minhas transgressões, ocultando o meu delito no meu seio;

34 Trema eu perante uma grande multidão, e o desprezo das famílias me apavore, e eu me cale, e não saia da porta.

35 Ah! Quem me dera um que me ouvisse! Eis que o meu intento é que o Todo-poderoso me responda, e que o meu adversário escreva um livro.

36 Por certo que o levaria sobre o meu ombro, sobre mim o ataria como coroa.

37 O número dos meus passos lhe mostraria; como príncipe me chegaria a ele.

38 Se a minha terra clamar contra mim, e se os seus regos juntamente chorarem;

39 Se comi a sua novidade sem dinheiro, e sufoquei a alma dos seus donos.

40 Por trigo me produza cardos, e por cevada joio. Acabaram-se as palavras de Jó.

1 परन्तु अब वे लोग जो मुझसे छोटे हैं, मेरी हंसी उड़ाते हैं, जिनके पिताओं को मैं अपनी भेड़-बकरियों के कुत्तों के साथ रखने में संकोच करता था।

2 मेरे हाथों की शक्ति से मुझे क्या लाभ होगा? बुढ़ापे में वह उनसे पहले ही थक चुका था।

3 वे अभाव और अकाल से नष्ट हो गये; और वे सूखे, अंधेरे, उजाड़ और रेगिस्तानी स्थानों की ओर चले गए।

4 वे झाड़ियों से कुम्हड़े इकट्ठा करते थे, और उनका भोजन जुनिपर की जड़ें थीं।

5 वे मनुष्यों के बीच में से निकाले गए; उन पर ऐसे चिल्लाया गया जैसे किसी चोर पर चिल्लाया जा रहा हो;

6 घाटियों की दरारों में, और पृथ्वी और चट्टानों की गुफाओं में बसने के लिए।

7 वे झाड़ियों के बीच में दहाड़ते थे, और बिच्छू पेड़ों के नीचे इकट्ठे होते थे।

8 वे मूर्खों और अनाम लोगों की सन्तान थे, और उन्हें देश से निकाल दिया गया।

16 और अब मेरा प्राण मेरे भीतर उंडेल दिया गया है; दुःख के दिन मुझ पर आ पड़े हैं।

17 रात में मेरी हड्डियाँ छेद दी जाती हैं, और जो बुराई मुझे खाती है, वह चैन से नहीं बैठती।

26 जब मैं भलाई की बाट जोह रहा था, तब बुराई आ गयी; और जब मैं प्रकाश की प्रतीक्षा कर रहा था, तो अंधकार आ गया।

27 मेरी अंतड़ियाँ उबल रही हैं, और उन्हें चैन नहीं मिलता; दुःख के दिनों ने मुझे आश्चर्यचकित कर दिया है।

28 मैं काला पड़ गया हूँ, परन्तु सूर्य से नहीं; मैं मण्डली में खड़ा होकर सहायता के लिए पुकारता हूँ।

29 मैं अजगरों का भाई और शुतुर्मुगों का संगी हो गया हूँ।

30 मेरी त्वचा काली पड़ गई है, और मेरी हड्डियाँ गर्मी से झुलस गई हैं।

31 इस कारण मेरी वीणा विलाप का गीत बन गई है, और मेरी बांसुरी विलाप करनेवालों का शब्द बन गई है।

Job describes the misery into which he fell

1 But now those younger than I have laughed at me, whose fathers I would have disdained to set with the dogs of my flock.

2 What good is the strength of their hands? They have wasted away from old age.

3 They have grown feeble from want and famine; they have withdrawn into the dry, dark, desolate, and desert places.

4 They have gathered mallows among the bushes, and their food has been the roots of the broom.

5 They have been driven out from among men; they have been shouted at as against a thief;

6 They have lived in the ravines of the valleys, and in the caves of the earth and of the rocks.

7 They have roared among the bushes, and have huddled together under the nettles.

8 They were the children of fools, and the children of a nameless people, and they were driven out of the land.

9 But now I am a song, and I am their byword.

10 They abhor me, and flee far from me, and do not refrain from spitting in my face.

11 For God has loosed his cord, and oppressed me: therefore they have shaken off the bridle before my face.

12 The young men stand up on the right hand; they push my feet, and prepare their ways of destruction against me.

13 They have broken up my way; they have brought about my misery, a nation without a helper.

14 They come against me as through a great breach, and they roll about in the midst of the desolation.

15 Terrors have come upon me; they pursue my glory like a wind, and my goodness has passed away like a cloud.

16 And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold of me.

17 In the night my bones are pierced, and the evil that eats away at me does not rest.

18 Because of the great force of my evil my garment has been changed, which girds me like the vesture of my robe.

19 He has cast me into the mire, and I am like dust and ashes.

20 I cry to you, but you do not answer; I stand, but you do not regard me.

21 You have become cruel to me; with the strength of your hand you resist me violently.

22 You lift me up upon the wind, you make me ride upon it, and you melt my being.

23 For I know that you will bring me to the mountain, to the house of assembly for all living. 

24 But will he not stretch out his hand to a heap of earth, if there be a cry upon it in his distress?

25 Have I not wept over him that was afflicted? Was not my soul grieved for the needy?

26 Yet when I looked for good, behold, evil came upon me; and when I looked for light, darkness came.

27 My bowels seethe, and are not quiet; the days of affliction have overtaken me.

28 I walk in darkness, but not in the sun; when I stand in the congregation, I cry for help.

29 I have become a brother to dragons, a companion to ostriches.

30 My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.

31 Therefore my harp is turned into lamentation, and my organ into the voice of them that mourn.

1 Mas agora se riem de mim os de menos idade do que eu, e cujos pais eu teria desdenhado de pôr com os cães do meu rebanho.

2 De que também me serviria a força das mãos? Já de velhice se tinha esgotado neles.

3 De míngua e fome se debilitaram; e recolhiam-se para os lugares secos, tenebrosos, assolados e desertos.

4 Apanhavam malvas junto aos arbustos, e o seu mantimento eram raízes dos zimbos.

5 Do meio dos homens eram expulsos; gritava-se contra eles, como contra um ladrão;

6 Para habitarem nos barrancos dos vales, e nas cavernas da terra e das rochas.

7 Bramavam entre os arbustos, e ajuntavam-se debaixo das urtigas.

8 Eram filhos de doidos, e filhos de gente sem nome, e da terra eram expulsos.

9 Mas agora sou a canção, e lhes sirvo de provérbio.

10 Abominam-me, e fogem para longe de mim e no meu rosto não se privam de cuspir.

11 Porque Deus desatou a sua corda, e me oprimiu: pelo que sacudiram de si o freio perante o meu rosto.

12 Á direita se levantam os moços; empurram os meus pés, e preparam contra mim os seus caminhos de destruição.

13 Desbaratam-me o meu caminho; promovem a minha miséria; uma gente que não tem nenhum ajudador.

14 Vêm contra mim como por uma grande brecha, e revolvem-se entre a assolação.

15 Sobrevieram-me pavores; como vento perseguem a minha honra, e como nuvem passou a minha felicidade.

16 E agora derrama-se em mim a minha alma; os dias da aflição se apoderaram de mim.

17 De noite se me traspassam os meus ossos, e o mal que me corrói não descansa.

18 Pela grande força do meu mal se demudou o meu vestido, que, como o cabeção da minha túnica, me cinge.

19 Lançou-me na lama, e fiquei semelhante ao pó e à cinza.

20 Clamo a ti, mas tu não me respondes; estou em pé, mas para mim não atentas.

21 Tornaste-te cruel contra mim; com a força da tua mão resistes violentamente.

22 Levantas-me sobre o vento, fazes-me cavalgar sobre ele, e derretes-me o ser.

23 Porque eu sei que me levarás à mote e à casa do ajuntamento destinada a todos os viventes.

24 Mas não estenderá a mão para um montão de terra, se houver clamor nele na sua desventura?

25 Porventura, não chorei sobre aquele que estava aflito, ou não se angustiou a minha alma pelo necessitado?

26 Todavia aguardando eu o bem, eis que me veio o mal, e esperando eu a luz, veio a escuridão.

1 फिर अय्यूब ने अपनी गूढ़ बात जारी रखी और कहा,

2 आह! काश, मैं वैसा ही होता जैसा मैं बीते महीनों में था, जैसे उन दिनों में था जब परमेश्वर ने मुझे रखा था!

3 जब उसने अपना दीपक मेरे सिर पर चमकाया, और उसकी ज्योति से मैं अंधकार में चला गया;

4 जैसे मेरी जवानी के दिनों में हुआ था, जब परमेश्वर का रहस्य मेरे डेरे पर था,

5 जब सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर मेरे साथ था, और मेरे बच्चे मेरे आस-पास थे।

6 जब मैं ने अपने कदम मक्खन में धोए, और चट्टान से तेल की नदियां मेरे लिये बह निकलीं,

7 जब मैं नगर के फाटक के बाहर गया, और चौक में अपना आसन तैयार किया।

8 जवान मुझे देखकर छिप गए, और बूढ़े उठकर खड़े हो गए;

9 हाकिमों ने रोककर अपने मुंह पर हाथ रखा;

10 हाकिमों की वाणी छिप गई, और उनकी जीभें तालू से चिपक गईं;

11 जब कान ने मेरी बात सुनी, तब मुझे धन्य समझा; मुझे देखकर कोई भी आँख मेरी गवाही दे;

12 क्योंकि जब दीन जन दोहाई देते थे, तब मैं ने उनको छुड़ाया, और जब अनाथों को कोई सहायक न था, तब भी मैं ने उनको छुड़ाया।

13 जो नाश होने को था, उसका आशीर्वाद मुझ पर आया, और मैंने विधवा के हृदय को आनन्द से गाने के लिए विवश कर दिया।

14 मैं ने धर्म का वस्त्र पहिना, और उसने भी मुझे पहिना दिया; एक लबादा और मुकुट के रूप में मेरा निर्णय था।

15 मैं अन्धों की आंख और लंगड़ों के पांव था;

16 मैं दरिद्रों का पिता था, और जिन कारणों की मुझे जानकारी नहीं थी, मैं उनका पता लगाता था;

17 उसने दुष्टों के जबड़े तोड़ डाले, और उनके दांतों से शिकार छीन लिया।

18 उसने कहा, मैं अपने घोंसले में अपना प्राण छोड़ दूंगा, और अपने दिन रेत के समान बढ़ाऊंगा।

19 मेरी जड़ जल के पास थी, और ओस मेरी डालियों पर बैठती थी;

20 मेरे अन्दर मेरी महिमा नयी हो गयी, और मेरा धनुष मेरे हाथ में मज़बूत हो गया।

21 वे मेरी प्रतीक्षा करते रहे, और चुपचाप मेरी सलाह सुनते रहे।

22 जब मेरी बातें समाप्त हो गईं, तब उन्होंने कोई उत्तर नहीं दिया; और मेरी बातें उन पर बरस पड़ीं;

23 क्योंकि वे वर्षा के समान मेरी बाट जोहते थे; और अपना मुंह खोल दिया, जैसे कि देर से आई हुई वर्षा के लिए।

24 जब मैं उन पर हंसता तो वे विश्वास नहीं करते थे; उन्होंने मेरे चेहरे की रौशनी को कम नहीं किया;

25 यदि मैं उसका मार्ग चुनता, तो मैं उसका प्रधान होकर बैठता, और उसकी सेना के बीच राजा के समान रहता, और शोक करनेवालों को शान्ति देता।
