Mordecai Discovers a Plot
21 In those days, while Mordecai was sitting at the king's gate, two of the king's eunuchs, who kept the gate, Bigthan and Teresh, were very angry and sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus.
22 And it came to Mordecai's attention, and he told Queen Esther, and Esther told the king in Mordecai's name.
23 And the matter was inquired into, and it was discovered, and they both were hanged on a gallows; and it was written in the chronicles before the king.

Esther 02
Ahasuerus Marries Esther
1 After these things, and the wrath of King Ahasuerus had subsided, he remembered Vashti and what she had done, and what had been decreed against her.
2 Then the king's young men who served him said, "Let young virgins, beautiful to look at, be sought for the king.
3 And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, and let them gather all the young virgins, beautiful to look at, to the palace of Susa, in the house of the women, under the authority of Hegai, the king's eunuch, who is in charge of the women. And let them be given their ornaments.
4 And let the young woman who pleases the king reign in place of Vashti." And this pleased the king, and he did so.
5 Now there was a certain Jew in the palace of Susa, whose name was Mordecai the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite.
6 He had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captives who had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away.
7 He had brought up Hadassah (that is, Esther), his uncle's daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. She was a beautiful young woman, and lovely to look at. When her father and mother were dead, Mordecai took her as his daughter.
8 Now when the king's command and his law were spread abroad, and many young women were gathered together in the palace of Susa, under the authority of Hegai, Esther was brought into the king's house, under the authority of Hegai, who was in charge of the women.

13 In this way the maiden went in to the king; whatever she desired was given to her to go from the house of the women to the king's house,
14 In the evening she would go in and in the morning she would return to the second house of the women, under the care of Shaazgaz the king's eunuch, who was in charge of the concubines. She would not return to the king unless the king desired and she was called by name.
15 When the turn came for Esther, the daughter of Abigail, the uncle of Mordecai (who had taken her as his daughter), to go to the king, she asked nothing except what Hegai the king's eunuch, who was in charge of the women, said. And Esther found favor in the eyes of all who saw her.
16 So Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus, to his royal palace, in the tenth month, which is the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
17 And the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she found favor and favor in his sight more than all the virgins. And he put the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.
18 Then the king made a great feast for all the princes and his servants to Esther's feast, and he gave rest to the provinces and gave gifts according to the king's station.
19 And when the virgins were assembled again, Mordecai sat at the king's gate.

mulheres, e dêem-se-lhes os seus enfeites.
4 E a moça que parecer bem aos olhos do rei, reine em lugar
de Vasti. E isto pareceu bem aos olhos do rei, e assim fez.
5 Havia então um homem judeu na fortaleza de Susã, cujo
nome era Mardoqueu, filho de Jair, filho de Simei, filho de Quis, homem
benjamita,
6 Que fora transportado de Jerusalém, com os cativos que
foram levados com Jeconias, rei de Judá, o qual transportara Nabucodonosor, rei
de Babilônia.
7 Este criara a Hadassa (que é Ester, filha de seu tio),
porque não tinha pai nem mãe; e era moça bela de parecer, e formosa à vista; e,
morrendo seu pai e sua mãe, Mardoqueu a tomara por sua filha.
8 Sucedeu pois que, divulgando-se o mandado do rei e a sua
lei, e ajuntando-se muitas moças na fortaleza de Susã, debaixo da mão de Hegai,
também levaram Ester à casa do rei, debaixo da mão de Hegai, guarda das
mulheres.
9 E a moça pareceu formosa aos seus olhos, e alcançou graça
perante ele; pelo que se apressou a dar-lhe os seus enfeites, e os seus
alimentos, como também em lhe dar sete moças de respeito da casa do rei; e a
fez passar com as suas moças ao melhor lugar da casa das mulheres.
10 Ester porém não declarou o seu povo e a sua parentela;
porque Mardoqueu lhe tinha ordenado que o não declarasse.
11 E passeava Mardoqueu cada dia diante do pátio da casa
das mulheres, para se informar de como Ester passava, e do que lhe sucederia.
12 E, chegando já a vez de cada moça, para vir ao rei
Assuero, depois que fora feito a cada uma segundo a lei das mulheres, por doze
meses (porque assim se cumpriam os dias das suas purificações; seis meses com óleo
de mirra e seis meses com especiarias, e com as coisas para a purificação das
mulheres).
13 Desta maneira pois entrava a moça ao rei; tudo quanto
ela desejava se lhe dava, para ir da casa das mulheres à casa do rei;
14 Á tarde entrava, e pela manhã tornava à segunda casa das
mulheres, debaixo da mão de Saazgaz, eunuco do rei, guarda das concubinas; não
tornava mais ao rei, salvo se o rei desejasse, e fosse chamada por nome.
15 Chegando pois a vez de Ester, filha de Abigail, tio de
Mardoqueu (que a tomara por filha), para ir ao rei, coisa nenhuma pediu, senão
o que disse Hegai, eunuco do rei, guarda das mulheres; e alcançava Ester graça
aos olhos de todos quantos a viam.
16 Assim foi levada Ester ao rei Assuero, à sua casa real,
no décimo mês, que é o mês de Tebete, no sétimo ano do seu reinado.
17 E o rei amou a Ester mais do que a todas as mulheres, e
ela alcançou perante ele graça e benevolência mais do que todas as virgens: e
pôs a coroa real na sua cabeça, e a fez rainha em lugar de Vasti.
18 Então o rei fez um grande convite a todos os príncipes e
aos seus servos para a festa de Ester; e deu repouso às províncias, e fez
presentes segundo o estado do rei.
19 E reunindo-se segunda vez as virgens, Mardoqueu estava
assentado à porta do rei.
20 Ester porém não declarava a sua parentela e o seu povo,
como Mardoqueu lhe ordenara; porque Ester cumpria o mandado de Mardoqueu, como
quando a criara.

18 और उसी दिन फारस और मादै की राजकुमारियाँ रानी की इस बात को सुनकर राजा के सब हाकिमों से ऐसा ही कहेंगी; और इसलिए वहां पर्याप्त अवमानना और आक्रोश होगा।
19 यदि राजा को स्वीकार हो तो वह एक राजकीय आज्ञा निकाले, और उसे फारसियों और मादियों के कानून में लिख दे, और उसकी टाल-मटोल न की जाए, जिस से वशती राजा क्षयर्ष के साम्हने फिर न आने पाए; और राजा उसका राज्य उसके उस मित्र को दे सकता है जो उससे अच्छा हो।

Vashti the Queen Refuses to Come to the Banquet
10 On the seventh day, when the king's heart was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigthan, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus,
11 to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing the royal crown, to show her beauty to the people and the princes, for she was beautiful to look at.
12 But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king's command, at the hands of the eunuchs. Therefore the king was very angry and his anger burned within him.
13 Then the king asked the wise men who understood the times (for this was how the king's affairs were conducted in the presence of all who knew the law and the judgment;
14 and those closest to him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, Memucan, the seven princes of the Persians and Medes, who saw the king's face and sat first in the kingdom),
15 what should be done according to the law to Queen Vashti, because she had not carried out the commandment of King Ahasuerus by the hand of the eunuchs?
16 Then Memucan said in the presence of the king and the princes, "Queen Vashti has sinned not only against the king, but also against all the princes and against all the people who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus."
17 For the news of this deed of the queen will go out to all the women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when it will be said, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded to bring Queen Vashti before him, but she did not come.’
18 And on that same day the princesses of Persia and Media will say the same to all the king’s princes, when they hear of the deed of the queen; and there will be great contempt and wrath.
19 If it pleases the king, let a royal edict go out from him and be written in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, and not be broken, that Vashti may no longer come before King Ahasuerus, and the king may give her kingdom to her companion who is better than she.
20 And when the edict that the king makes is heard throughout his kingdom (for it is great), all the women will give honor to their husbands, from the greatest to the least.
21 And these words pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word of Memucan.
22 Then he sent letters to all the king's provinces, to each province according to its writing, and to each people according to their language, saying that every man should be lord in his own house; and that this should be published among all the peoples according to their language.

13 Então perguntou ao rei aos sábios que entendiam dos
tempos (porque assim se tratavam os negócios do rei na presença de todos os que
sabiam a lei e o direito;
14 E os mais chegados a ele eram: Carsena, Setar, Admata,
Tarsis, Meres, Marsena, Memucã, os sete príncipes dos persas e dos medos, que
viam a face do rei, e se assentavam os primeiros no reino),
15 O que, segundo a lei, se devia fazer a rainha Vasti, por
não haver cumprido o mandado do rei Assuero, pela mão dos eunucos?
16 Então disse Memucã na presença do rei e dos príncipes:
Não somente pecou contra o rei a rainha Vasti, mas também contra todos os
príncipes, e contra todos os povos que há em todas as províncias do rei Assuero.
17 Porque a notícia deste feito da rainha sairá a todas as
mulheres, de modo que desprezarão a seus maridos aos seus olhos, quando se
disser: Mandou o rei Assuero que introduzissem à sua presença a rainha Vasti,
porém ela não veio.
18 E neste mesmo dia as princesas da Pérsia e da Média
dirão o mesmo a todos os príncipes do rei, ouvindo o feito da rainha; e assim
haverá assaz desprezo e indignação.
19 Se bem parecer ao rei, saia da sua parte um edito real,
e escreva-se nas leis dos persas e dos medos, e não se quebrante, que Vasti não
entre mais na presença do rei Assuero e o rei dê o reino dela à sua companheira
que seja melhor do que ela.
20 E, ouvindo-se o mandado, que o rei decretar em todo o
seu reino (porque é grande), todas as mulheres darão honra a seus maridos,
desde a maior até a menor.
21 E pareceram bem estas palavras aos olhos do rei e dos
príncipes; e fez o rei conforme à palavra de Memucã.
22 Então enviou cartas a todas as províncias do rei, a cada
província segundo a sua escritura, e a cada povo segundo a sua língua: Que cada
homem fosse senhor em sua casa; e que isto se publicasse em todos os povos
conforme a língua de cada um.

6 वे पर्दे श्वेत, हरे और नीले कपड़े के थे, और उन पर सूक्ष्म सनी और बैंगनी रंग की डोरियाँ, चाँदी के छल्ले और संगमरमर के खम्भे लटके हुए थे। बिस्तर सोने और चांदी के बने थे, और फर्श पर पोर्फिरी, संगमरमर, अलबास्टर और बहुमूल्य पत्थर लगे थे।

The Banquet of Ahasuerus
1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus (that is, the Ahasuerus who reigned from India to Ethiopia, over one hundred and twenty-seven provinces),
2 In those days, when King Ahasuerus sat upon the throne of his kingdom, which was in the citadel of Susa,
3 In the third year of his reign, he made a feast to all his princes and his servants (the power of Persia and Media and the greatest lords of the provinces were before him),
4 To shew forth the riches of the glory of his kingdom, and the splendor of his excellent greatness, for many days, even one hundred and eighty days.
5 And when those days were ended, the king made a feast to all the people who were present in the citadel of Susa, from the greatest to the least, for seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace.
6 The hangings were of white, green, and blue, hung with cords of fine linen and purple, and silver rings, and marble pillars; the couches were of gold and silver, on a pavement of porphyry, marble, alabaster, and precious stones.
7 And the drink was served in vessels of gold, and the vessels were different from each other; and there was plenty of royal wine, according to the king's status.
8 And the drinking was a law, that no one should force another; for so the king had expressly commanded all the nobles of his house, that they should do as each one wished.

Nehemiah 13
Nehemiah Removes Various Abuses
1 On that day they read in the book of Moses in the hearing of the people, and it was found written in it that the Ammonites and the Moabites should never come into the assembly of God,
2 because they had not come out to meet the children of Israel with bread and water, but had hired Balaam against them to curse them; yet our God turned the curse into a blessing.
3 So it came to pass, when they heard this law, that they departed from Israel, all the mixed.
4 Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who had charge of the chamber of the house of our God, had become related to Tobiah;
5 And he had made a large chamber for him, where before they had kept the grain offerings, the incense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the wine, and the oil, which were prescribed for the Levites, the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the offerings for the priests.
6 But during all this I was not in Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I came to the king; but after some days I obtained permission from the king again.
7 And I came to Jerusalem, and I learned of the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in making him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
8 And it displeased me greatly; so I threw all the furniture of Tobiah's house out of the chamber.
9 And when I had given orders, they cleansed the chambers; and I brought back the vessels of the house of God, with the grain offerings and the incense.
10 I also realized that the Levites' share was not given to them; so that the Levites and the singers who did the work had fled, each to his own land.
11 Then I argued with the officials and said, "Why has the house of God been forsaken?" But I gathered them together and restored them to their place.
12 Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain, wine, and oil into the storehouses.
13 And I appointed Shelemiah the priest, Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah, from among the Levites, as treasurers over the storehouses; and with them Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah, because they were found faithful; and they were entrusted with the distribution to their brothers.
14 (For this reason, my God, remember me, and do not wipe out the good deeds that I have done for the house of my God and for its guards.)
15 In those days I saw in Judah those who were treading winepresses on the Sabbath and bringing in sheaves and loading them on donkeys, wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of cargo, which they brought to Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I protested against them on the day they sold grain.
16 There were also Tyrians living inside, who brought in fish and all kinds of merchandise, which they sold on the Sabbath to the people of Judah and in Jerusalem.
17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah and said to them, “What evil is this that you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day?
18 Did not your fathers do this, and did not our God bring all this evil on us and on this city?” And you have further increased His wrath against Israel by profaning the Sabbath.
19 So it happened that when the gates of Jerusalem were dark before the Sabbath, I gave the order, and the gates were shut; and I commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. And I stationed some of my servants at the gates, so that no cargo might be brought in on the Sabbath day.
20 Then the merchants and sellers of all kinds of merchandise lodged outside Jerusalem once or twice.
21 So I rebuked them and said to them, “Why do you lodge in front of the wall? If you do this again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on they did not come on the Sabbath.
22 I also commanded the Levites to purify themselves. And they came to keep the gates, to keep the Sabbath holy: (In this also, my God, remember me, and forgive me according to the abundance of your mercy.)
23 In those days I saw Jews who had married women of Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab.
24 Their children spoke half of Ashdod, and could not speak in the language of Judah, but according to the language of each people.
25 So I contended with them, and cursed them, and struck some of them, and tore off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, "You shall no longer give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves."
26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin in this, when there was no king like him among many nations, and he was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel? Yet the foreign women made him sin.
27 Should we listen to you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God by marrying foreign women?
28 One of the sons of Jehoiada, the son of Eliashib, the high priest, was the son-in-law of Sanballat the Horonite; therefore I drove him away from me.
29 Remember them, my God, because they have defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites.

também a oferta alçada para os sacerdotes.
6 Mas durante tudo isto não estava eu em Jerusalém; porque

Nehemiah 12
The Temple Service
44 On that day men were appointed over the chambers for the treasuries, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them from the land of the cities the portions assigned by the law for the priests and the Levites, for Judah rejoiced because of the priests and the Levites who served there.
45 They kept the service of their God and the service of purification, as did the singers and the gatekeepers, according to the commandment of David and Solomon his son.
46 For in the days of David and Asaph, from of old, there were chief singers and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.
47 Therefore all Israel, even in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and gatekeepers to each one on his day, and they sanctified the portions for the Levites, and the Levites sanctified them for the sons of Aaron.
Neemias 12
O ministério do templo
44 Também no mesmo dia se nomearam homens sobre as câmaras,

Nehemiah 12
The Dedication of the Wall
27 And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them, that they might dedicate it with joy, and with thanksgiving, and with singing, with psalteries, and with harps, and with lyres.
28 And the sons of the singers gathered together, both from the plains round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi;
29 and from the house of Gilgal, and from the fields of Gibeah, and from Azmaveth: for the singers had built themselves villages round about Jerusalem.
30 And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.
31 Then I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great choirs and processions, one on the right hand upon the wall, at the Dung Gate.
32 After them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah,
33 and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,
34 Judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah;
35 and of the sons of the priests, with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph,
36 and their brothers, Shemaiah, and Azareel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, and Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the scribe went before them.
37 So they went to the Fountain Gate, and opposite them they went up the stairs of the City of David by the ascent of the wall, from above the house of David, to the Water Gate on the east side.
38 And the second choir went before them, and I after them: and half of the people went on the wall, from the Tower of the Ovens to the Broad Wall;
39 And from the Gate of Ephraim, and from the Old Gate, and from the Fish Gate, and the Tower of Hananeel, and the Tower of Meah, even to the Cattle Gate: and they stood at the Prison Gate.
40 Then both choirs stood at the house of God; and I also stood with me, and half of the rulers.
41 And the priests Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah went with trumpets,
42 and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Johanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer; and the singers were heard, together with Jezrahiah the overseer.
43 And they offered great sacrifices that day, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and the women and children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.
Neemias 12
A dedicação dos muros
27 E na dedicação dos muros de Jerusalém buscaram os
levitas de todos os seus lugares, para os trazerem, a fim de fazerem a
dedicação com alegria, e com louvores, e com canto, saltérios, alaúdes, e com
harpas.
28 E se ajuntaram os filhos dos cantores, tanto da campina
dos arredores de Jerusalém, como das aldeias de Netofati;
29 Como também da casa de Gilgal, e dos campos de Gibeá, e Azmavete:
porque os cantores tinham edificado para si aldeias nos arredores de Jerusalém.
30 E purificaram-se os sacerdotes e os levitas; e logo
purificaram o povo, e as portas, e o muro.
31 Então fiz subir os príncipes de Judá sobre o muro, e
ordenei dois grandes coros e procissões, sendo uma à mão direita sobre o muro
da banda da porta do monturo.
32 E após eles ia Hosaias, e a metade dos príncipes de
Judá.
33 E Azarias, Esdras, e Mesulão,
34 Judá, e Benjamim, e Semaías e Jeremias;
35 E dos filhos dos sacerdotes, com trombetas: Zacarias,
filho de Jônatas, o filho de Semaías, filho de Matanias,filho de Micaia, filho
de Zacur, filho de Asafe,
36 E seus irmãos, Semaías, e Azareel, Milalai, Gilalai,
Maai, Natanael, e Judá, e Hanani com os instrumentos músicos de Davi, homem de
Deus; e Esdras, o escriba, ia adiante deles.
37 Indo assim para a porta da fonte, e defronte deles,
subiram as escadas da cidade de Davi pela subida do muro, desde cima da casa de
Davi, até à porta das águas, da banda do oriente.
38 E o segundo coro ia em frente, e eu após ele; e a metade
do povo ia sobre o muro, desde a torre dos fornos até a muralha larga;
39 E desde a porta de Efraim, e desde a porta velha, e
desde a porta do peixe, e a torre de Hananeel e a torre de Meá, até à porta do
gado; e pararam à porta da prisão.
40 Então ambos os coros pararam na casa de Deus; como
também eu, e a metade dos magistrados comigo.
41 E os sacerdotes Eliaquim, Maaséias, Miniamim, Micaia,
Elioenai, Zacarias, e Hananias, iam com trombetas,
42 Como também, Maaséias, Semaías, e Eleazar, e Uzi, e
Joanã, e Malquias, e Elão, e Ezer; e faziam-se ouvir os cantores, juntamente
com Jezraías, o superintendente.
43 E sacrificaram no mesmo dia grandes sacrifícios, e se
alegraram, porque Deus os alegrara com grande alegria; e até as mulheres e os
meninos se alegraram, de modo que a alegria de Jerusalém se ouviu até de longe.
