1 Samuel 15 God tells Samuel to rebuke Saul

 1 Samuel 15

God tells Samuel to rebuke Saul

10 Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying,

11 I regret having made Saul king; because he stopped following me, and did not execute my words. Then Samuel was upset, and all night he cried out to the Lord.

12 And Samuel woke up early to meet Saul in the morning: and he announced to Samuel, saying, Saul has already reached Carmel, and, behold, a column has risen for him. Then he did return, and passed and went down to Gilgal.

13 So Samuel came to Saul; and Saul said to him, Blessed are you of the Lord; I performed the word of the Lord.

14 Then Samuel said, "How is it that my sheep are bleating in my ears, and the lowing of cows that I hear?"

15 And Saul said, They brought them from Amalek: because the people forgave the best of the sheep and the cows, to offer them to the Lord your God: the rest, however, we have completely destroyed.

16 Then Samuel said to Saul, "Wait, and I will tell you what the Lord said to me tonight." And he said to him: Speak.

17 And Samuel said, Perhaps you were small in your eyes, and you were not the head of the tribes of Israel? and the Lord has anointed you king over Israel.

18 And the Lord sent you on this path, and said, Go, and utterly destroy these sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them, until they annihilate them.

19 Why then did you not listen to the voice of the Lord, but flew to the spoil, and did what seemed evil in the eyes of the Lord?

20 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I heard the voice of the Lord first, and walked in the way the Lord sent me; and brought to Agag the king of Amalek, and the Amalekites I utterly destroyed;

21 But the people took the spoil of sheep and cows, the best of the forbidden ones, to offer to the Lord your God in Gilgal.

22 But Samuel said, Does the Lord have as much pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying his word from the Lord? behold, obeying is better than sacrificing; and to serve it better than sheep fat.

23 For rebellion is like the sin of witchcraft, and to preach is like iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you, lest you be king.

24 Then Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned because I have pierced the saying of the Lord and your words: because I feared the people and listened to his voice.

25 Now therefore, I beseech thee, forgive me my sin: and return with me, that I may worship the Lord.

26 But Samuel said to Saul, I will not return with you: because you have rejected the word of the Lord, the Lord has already rejected you, lest you be king over Israel.

27 And turning Samuel to go, he took him by the edge of the cloak, and tore it.

28 Then Samuel said to him, The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to your neighbor better than you.

29 And also the One who is the Force of Israel does not lie or repent: because he is not a man to repent.

30 Then he said, I have sinned; but honor me now before the elders of my people, and before Israel: and return with me, that I may worship the Lord your God.

31 Then Samuel went after Saul: and Saul worshiped the Lord.

I Samuel 15 Deus manda Samuel repreender Saul

 I Samuel 15

Deus manda Samuel repreender Saul

10  Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Samuel, dizendo:

Então fez voltar, e passou e desceu a Gilgal.

13 Veio pois Samuel a Saul; e Saul lhe disse: Bendito tu do Senhor; executei a palavra do Senhor.

20 Então disse Saul a Samuel: Antes dei ouvido à voz do Senhor, e caminhei no caminho pelo qual o Senhor me enviou; e trouxe a Agague, rei de Amaleque, e os amalequitas destruí totalmente;

24 Então disse Saul a Samuel: Pequei porquanto tenho transpassado o dito do Senhor e as tuas palavras: porque temi o povo e dei ouvidos à sua voz.

1 Samuel 15 Samuel orders Saul to destroy the Amalekites

 1 Samuel 15

Samuel orders Saul to destroy the Amalekites

1 Then Samuel said to Saul, The Lord has sent me to anoint you king over his people, over Israel: now hear the voice of the Lord's words.

2 Thus says the Lord of hosts: I remembered what Amelech did to Israel; as he opposed him on the way, when he was coming up from Egypt.

3 Now go now and strike Amalek; and totally destroys everything he has, and do not forgive him; but you will kill from man to woman, from children to breastfeeders, from oxen to sheep, and from camels to donkeys.

4 And Saul summoned the people, and numbered them in Teilaim, two hundred thousand men standing, and ten thousand men of Judah.

5 So when Saul came to the city of Amalek, he set an ambush in the valley.

6 And Saul said to the Kenites, Go away, go away and go out from among the Amalekites, lest they destroy you with them, because you were merciful to all the children of Israel when they came up from Egypt. So the Kenites withdrew from the Amalekites.

7 Then Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until he reached Sur, which is opposite Egypt.

8 And he took Aguague king of the Amalekites alive; but all the people destroyed with the sword.

9 And Saul and the people forgave Agag, and the best of sheep and cows, and those of the second lot, and the lambs and the best that was, and they did not want to destroy them completely: but they destroyed all the vile and despicable thing totally.

I Samuel 15 Samuel manda Saul destruir os amalequitas

 I Samuel 15

1 Samuel 14 Jonathan is condemned to death

 1 Samuel 14

Jonathan is condemned to death

36 Then Saul said, Let us go down at night after the Philistines, and let them be stripped until the light dawns, and let us not leave a man behind them. And they said, Whatever seems good to your eyes do. But the priest said, Let us come to God here.

37 Then Saul inquired of God, saying, Shall I go down behind the Philistines? will you hand them over to Israel? But that day did not answer him.

38 Then Saul said, "Come here, all the leaders of the people, and inform yourselves, and see how this sin was committed today:

39 For the Lord lives who saves Israel, who, even though it is in my son Jonathan, will surely die. And none of the people answered him.

40 he said more to all Israel: You will be in one band, and my son Jonathan and I will be in the other band. Then the people said to Saul, Do what seems right in your eyes.

41 So Saul spoke to the Lord God of Israel: Show the innocent. So Jonathan and Saul went by luck, and the people went free.

42 Then Saul said, Cast your lot between me and my son Jonathan. And Jonathan was taken.

43 Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what you have done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I only tasted a little honey with the end of the stick in my hand; behold, must I die?

44 Then Saul said, So let me do God, and so much more, that you will surely die, Jonathan.

45 But the people said to Saul, Will Jonathan die, who did such a great salvation in Israel? never do so; the Lord lives, that not a hair of his head will fall on the ground! because with God he did it today. So the people saved Jonathan, so that he would not die.

46 And Saul stopped following the Philistines and the Philistines went to his place.

47 Then Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies all around: against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines and wherever they went. he returned and carried out punishments.

48 And he went boldly, and smote the Amalekites: and delivered Israel from the hand of those who plundered him.

49 And Saul's sons were Jonathan, and Isvi, and Malquisua: and the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the oldest Merab, and the name of the youngest Michal.

50 And the name of Saul's wife, Ainoan, daughter of Ahimaaz; and the name of the army general, Abner, son of Ner, Saul's uncle.

51 And Kish, father of Saul and Ner, father of Abner, were children of Abiel.

52 And there was a strong war against the Philistines, all the days of Saul: so Saul added to all the brave and brave men he saw he added them to him.

I Samuel 14 Jônatas é condenado à morte

 I Samuel 14

43 Disse então Saul a Jônatas: Declara-me o que tens feito.

1 Samuel 14 Saul's cheeky vote

 1 Samuel 14

Saul's cheeky vote

24 And the men of Israel were already exhausted that day, because Saul had conjured up the people, saying, Cursed be the man who eats bread until evening, that he may avenge me on my enemies. So all the people refrained from tasting bread.

25 And all the people came to a forest: and there was honey on the surface of the field.

26 And when the people came into the forest, behold, there was a well of honey: but no one reached his hand to his mouth because the people feared the conspiracy.

27 But Jonathan had not heard when his father had summoned the people, and he extended the end of the stick in his hand and dipped it in the honeycomb; and, returning to his mouth, his eyes were clarified.

28 Then one of the people answered and said, Your people solemnly conjured up the people, saying, Cursed be the man who eats bread today. For what the people fainted.

29 Then Jonathan said, My father has troubled the earth; now see how my eyes were lightened by having tasted some of this honey.

30 How much more if the people today had freely eaten the spoil they found of their enemies. But now it was not so much damage from the Philistines.

31 But that day they smote the Philistines, from Micmash to Ajalon, and the people were very faint.

32 Then the people took to the spoil, and they took sheep, and cows, and calves, and slaughtered them on the ground; and the people ate them with blood.

33 And they announced it to Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the Lord, eating with blood. And he said, You have worked hard: I have turned over a large stone today.

34 And Saul said, Pour yourselves out among the people, and say to them, Bring each of them his ox, and each one of his sheep, and slaughter them here, and eat, and do not sin against the Lord, eating with blood. Then all the people brought in the night, each with his hand, his ox and beheaded them there.

35 Then Saul built an altar to the Lord: this was the first altar he built to the Lord.

I Samuel 14 O atrevido voto de Saul

 I Samuel 14

1 Samuel 14 Jonathan's victory over the Philistines

 1 Samuel 14

Jonathan's victory over the Philistines

1 Then it came to pass that one day Jonathan, Saul's son, said to the young man who carried his weapons, Come, let us pass on to the Philistines' garrison who is there in that band. But he did not tell his father.

2 And Saul was at the end of Gibeah, under the pilgrimage that was at Migrom; and the people who were with him were about six hundred men.

3 And Aha the son of Ahitub, the brother of Ichabô, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the priest of the Lord in Shiloh, brought the ephod: but the people did not know that Jonathan had gone.

4 And in the passages through which Jonathan sought to pass into the garrison of the Philistines, this band had a sharp edge, and on the other side a sharp edge: and it was the name of one Bozez, and the name of the other Sené.

5 One rock to the north was in front of Micmash, and the other to the south in front of Gibeah.

6 Then Jonathan said to the young man who was carrying his weapons, "Come, let us pass on to the garrison of these uncircumcised men; perhaps the Lord will work for us, because for the Lord there will be no impediment to deliver with many or with few.

7 Then his page of arms said to him, Do all that you have in your heart; return, here I am with you, according to your heart.

8 Then Jonathan said, "Behold, we will pass on to those men, and we will discover ourselves to them.

9 If they say to us like this: Stop until we come to you; then we will stay in our place, and we will not go up to them.

10 But saying thus, Go up to us; then we will go up, for the Lord has given them into our hand, and this will be a sign to us.

11 When both of them were discovered, therefore, in the garrison of the Philistines, the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews have now come out of the caves in which they had hidden.

12 And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his page of arms, and said, Go up to us, and we will teach you. And Jonathan said to his page of arms, Go up behind me, because the Lord has delivered them into the hand of Israel.

13 Then Jonathan climbed with his feet and hands, and the page of arms behind him: and they fell before Jonathan, and his page of arms killed them behind him.

14 And this first defeat happened, in which Jonathan and his page of arms wounded up to twenty men, almost in the middle of a stream of land that a team of oxen could plow.

15 And there was a tremor in the camp, in the field, and in all the people; also the same garrison and the destroyers trembled, and even the earth was excited, because it was the trembling of God.

16 So they looked at Saul's sentinels at Gibeah of Benjamin, and, behold, the multitude poured out, and fled, battling.

17 Saul said to the people who were with him, “Now tell, and see who has come out from among us. And they did, and behold, neither Jonathan nor his page of arms were there.

18 Then Saul said to Ahia, Bring the ark of God here (for that day was the ark of God with the children of Israel).

19 And it came to pass that while Saul was still speaking to the priest, the uproar that was in the camp of the Philistines was growing, and it multiplied, and Saul said to the priest, Withdraw your hand.

20 Then Saul and all the people who were with him came together and came to the battle; and, behold, the sword of one was against the other, and there was great turmoil.

21 There were also Hebrews with the Philistines, as before, who went up with them in the surrounding camp: and they also joined with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.

22 When all the men of Israel heard that they hid by the mountain of Ephraim that the Philistines fled, they also pursued them closely in the battle.

23 So the Lord delivered Israel that day: and the camp passed over to Beth-Aven.

 I Samuel 14

23 Assim livrou o Senhor a Israel naquele dia: e o arraial passou a Bete-Aven.

1 Samuel 13 Saul offers sacrifices and Samuel reproves him

 1 Samuel 13

Saul offers sacrifices and Samuel reproves him

8 And he waited seven days, until the time that Samuel had determined; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, the people spread out from him.

9 Then Saul said, Bring me a burnt offering and peace offerings. And he offered the holocaust.

10 And it came to pass, when he had finished offering the burnt offering, behold, that Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, to greet him.

11 Then Samuel said, What have you done? Saul said, Because I saw that the people were spreading out from me, and you were not coming in the appointed days, and the Philistines had already gathered together at Micmash,

12 I said, Now the Philistines will come down on me to Gilgal, and yet in the face of the Lord I did not pray: and I was violent, and offered a burnt offering.

13 Then Samuel said to Saul, You have done foolishly, and you have not kept the commandment that the Lord your God has commanded you; for now the Lord would have confirmed your kingdom over Israel forever.

14 But now your kingdom will not endure: the Lord has sought a man for himself after his own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be a leader over his people, because you have not kept what the Lord has commanded you.

15 Then Samuel got up and went up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul told the people that he found six hundred men with him.

16 And Saul and Jonathan, his son, and the people who were with them, stayed in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines camped at Micmash.

17 And the destroyers left the Philistine camp in three companies: one of the companies returned by the way from Ophrah to the land of Saul:

18 Another company came back along the path of Betorom: and the other company came back along the path of the term that looks at the Zeboim valley tells of the desert.

19 And not a smith was found in all the land of Israel: for the Philistines had said, Lest the Hebrews make a sword or a spear.

20 So all Israel had to go down to the Philistines to sharpen their share, and their hoe, and their ax, and their hoe.

21 But they had files attached to their hoes, and to their hoes, and to the three-pronged forks, and to the axes, and to repair the goads.

22 And it came to pass on the day of the battle that neither a sword nor a spear was found in the hand of all the people who were with Saul and Jonathan: but they met Saul and Jonathan his son.

23 And the garrison of the Philistines went out to Micmas.

I Samuel 13 Saul oferece sacrifícios e Samuel reprova-o

 I Samuel 13

9 Então disse Saul: Trazei-me aqui um holocausto, e ofertas pacíficas. E ofereceu o holocausto.

1 Samuel 13 War between the Israelites and the Philistines

 1 Samuel 13

War between the Israelites and the Philistines

1 One year Saul had been in his reign: and the second year he reigned over Israel.

2 So Saul chose three thousand Israel for himself; and two thousand were with Saul in Micmas, and in the mountain of Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and he sent the rest of the people away, each one to his house.

3 And Jonathan struck down the Philistines' garrison at Gibeah, which the Philistines heard: so Saul blew the trumpet throughout the land, saying, Hear the Hebrews.

4 Then all Israel heard it said, Saul smote the garrison of the Philistines, and Israel also became an abomination to the Philistines. So the people were called after Saul in Gilgal.

5 And the Philistines came together to fight against Israel: Thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and the people in multitude like the sand that is at the edge of the sea; and they went up and camped at Micmash, east of Beth-Aven.

6 And when the men of Israel saw that they were in anguish (because the people were cramped), the people hid themselves by the caves, and by the spines, and by the cliffs, and by the fortifications and the pits.

7 And the Hebrews passed over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead: and while Saul was still in Gilgal, all the people came after him trembling.

 I Samuel 13
