6 But the hand of the Lord gripped those of Ashdod, and devastated them: and smote them with hemorrhoids, Ashdod and its terms.

7 And when the men of Ashdod saw it, they said, Let not the ark of the God of Israel remain with us; for his hand is hard on us, and on Dagon, our god.

8 So they sent and gathered together all the princes of the Philistines, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they said, The ark of the God of Israel will return to Gath. So they surrounded it with the ark of the God of Israel.

10 Então enviaram a arca de Deus a Ecrom. Sucedeu porém que, vindo a arca de Deus a Ecrom, os de Ecrom exclamaram, dizendo: Transportaram para mim a arca do Deus de Israel, para me matarem, a mim e ao meu povo.

18 And it came to pass that, with mention of the ark of God, Eli fell from the chair behind him, from the side of the door, and his neck was broken, and he died: because the man was old and heavy; and he had judged Israel forty years.

19 And when his daughter-in-law came in, the wife of Phinehas, pregnant and close to childbirth, and hearing these news, that the ark of God was taken, and that her father-in-law and her husband died, bowed and gave birth ; because the pains have come over him.

20 And as she was dying, the women who were with her said, Do not be afraid, for you have had a child. However, she did not answer, nor did she take any notice.

21 And he called the boy Icabô, saying, The glory of Israel is gone. Because the ark of God was taken away, and because of her father-in-law and her husband.

22 And he said, From Israel the glory is taken away: for the ark of God is taken.
