Samuel 06
The ark arrives at Beth Semes
And those of Beth-Shemesh went about harvesting the wheat in the valley, and looking up, they saw the ark, and when they saw it, they were glad.
And the chariot came to the field of Joshua the Beth-Semite, and stopped there; and there was a great stone: and they split the wood of the cart, and offered the cows to the Lord for a burnt offering.
And the Levites went down into the ark of the Lord, as well as the vault that was beside it, in which the gold works were, and set them on that great stone: and the men of Beth-Shemesh offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed sacrifices. to the Lord on the same day.
And when the five princes of the Philistines saw that, they returned to Ekron on the same day.
These are the golden hemorrhoids that sent the Philistines to the Lord in atonement for guilt: for Ashdod one, for Gaza another, for Ashkelon another, for Gath another, for Echrom another.
As well as the golden rats, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines, belonging to the five princes, from the strong cities to the villages, and even Abel, the great stone on which they placed the ark of the Lord, which is still to this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth-Semite.
And the Lord smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they looked into the ark of the Lord, until they smote fifty thousand and seventy men of the people: then the people were saddened, because the Lord had done such a great damage among the people.
Then the men of Beth-shem said, Who could stand before the Lord, this holy God? and to whom will it go up from us?
So they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath-Jearim, saying, The Philistines have sent the ark of the Lord, so come down and bring it up for you.
