11 And the ark of God was taken: and Eli's two sons, Hofni and Phinehas, died.

12 Then a man from Benjamin ran the battle, and came to Silo the same day; and she wore broken clothes and earth on her head.

13 And when he came, behold, Eli was sitting on a chair, watching by the way; because his heart was trembling for the ark of God: when that man came to announce this in the city, the whole city cried out.

14 And Eli, hearing the voice of the cry, said, What voice is this uproar? Then that man came in a great hurry, and came, and announced it to Eli.

15 And Eli was ninety-eight years old: and his eyes were so darkened that he could no longer see.

16 And the man said to Eli, I am the one who comes from the battle; because I ran away from the battle today. And he said, What happened, my son?

17 Then he answered what the news had, and said, Israel fled from the Philistines, and there was also great destruction among the people: and moreover, your two sons, Hofni and Phinehas, also died, and the ark of God. is taken.
