11 Então três mil homens de Judá desceram até à cova da rocha de Etã, e disseram a Sansão: Não sabias tu que os filisteus dominam sobre nós? por que pois nos fizestes isto? E ele lhes disse: Assim como eles me fizeram a mim, eu lhes fiz a eles.

12 E disseram-lhe: Descemos para te amarrar, para te entregar nas mãos dos filisteus. Então Sansão lhes disse: Jurai-me que vós mesmos me não acometereis.

13 E eles lhe falaram dizendo: Não mas fortemente te amarraremos, e te entregaremos na sua mão; porém de maneira nenhuma te mataremos. E amarraram-no com duas cordas novas e fizeram-no subir da rocha.

3 Then Samson said of them, I am innocent this time to the Philistines, when I do them harm.

4 And it was Samson, and took three hundred foxes: and taking tic tacs, he turned them tail to tail, and put a tic t in the middle of each two tails.

5 And fire came to the firebrands, and left them in the Philistines' field: and so he burned the sauces with the wheat harvest, and the vines with the olive groves.

6 Then said the Philistines, Who did this? And they said, Samson, the son-in-law of the timnata, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion. Then the Philistines went up and burned her and her father with fire.

7 Then Samson said to them, "So would you do it? for when I have avenged myself on you, then I will cease.

8 And he smote them with a great wound, leg with thigh: and went down, and dwelt on the top of the rock of Ethan.

9 Then the Philistines went up, and camped against Judah, and stretched out over Lehi.

14 Then he said to him, Food came out of the eater, and sweetness came out of the forts. And in three days they were unable to declare the riddle.

15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said to Samson's wife, Persuade your husband to declare the riddle to us so that we may not be burned to the fire by you and your father's house: you have called us here to possess what is ours, isn't it?

16 And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, You only hate me, and you do not love me, for you have given the children of my people a riddle to guess, and you have not yet told me. And he said to him, "Behold, neither my father nor my mother have I declared it, and would I declare it to you?"

17 And he wept before him the seven days on which they were celebrating the wedding: it happened, therefore, that on the seventh day he declared it to him, because he bothered him; so she declared the riddle to the children of her people.

18 Then the men of that city said to him, on the seventh day, before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than the lion? And he said to them, If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would never have discovered my riddle.

19 Then the spirit of the Lord so powerfully took hold of him, that he came down to the Ascalonites, and killed thirty of them, and took their dresses, and gave the seedlings of dresses to those who declared the riddle: but his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.

20 And Samson's wife was given to her companion, who accompanied him.

17  E chorou diante dele os sete dias em que celebravam as bodas: sucedeu pois que ao sétimo dia lho declarou, porquanto o importunava; então ela declarou o enigma aos filhos do seu povo.

18 Disseram-lhe pois os homens daquela cidade, ao sétimo dia, antes de se pôr o sol: Que coisa há mais doce do que o mel? e que coisa há mais forte do que o leão? E ele lhes disse: Se vós não lavrásseis com a minha novilha, nunca teríeis descoberto o meu enigma.

19 Então o espírito do Senhor  tão possantemente se apossou dele, que desceu aos ascalonitas, e matou deles trinta homens, e tomou os seus vestidos, e deu as mudas de vestidos aos que declararam o enigma: porém acendeu-se a sua ira, e subiu à casa de seu pai.

2 He went up and declared it to his father and mother, and said, I saw a woman in Timnata, of the daughters of the Philistines; now therefore, take me as a woman.

3 But his and his mother said to him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brothers, or among all my people, that you will take a wife of the Philistines, of those uncircumcised? And Samson said to his father, Take this one, for it pleases my eyes.

4 But his father and mother did not know that this came from the Lord, for he sought an occasion against the Philistines: because at that time the Philistines ruled over Israel.

5 So Samson went down with his father and mother to Timnata: and when he reached the vineyards of Timnata, behold, a lion's son, roaring, went out to meet him.

6 Then the spirit of the Lord came upon him so powerfully that it split him from top to bottom, as if he were splitting a kid, with nothing in his hand: but neither his father nor his mother made known what he had done.

7 And he went down, and spoke to that woman, and pleased the eyes of Samson.

8 And after a few days he returned to take it: and, departing from the path to see the dead lion's body, behold, in the lion's body there was an examination of bees with honey.

9 And he took it in his hands, and went and walked and ate of it; and he went to his father and mother, and gave them to him, and they ate, but he did not let them know that he had taken the honey from the lion's body.

10 So his father went down to that woman, and Samson made a feast there, because the young men used to do so.

11 And it came to pass, as they saw him, that they took thirty companions to be with him.

6 Então o espírito do Senhor se apossou dele tão possantemente que o fendeu de alto a baixo, como quem fende um cabrito, sem ter nada na sua mão: porém nem seu pai nem a sua mãe deu a saber o que tinha feito.

7 E desceu, e falou àquela mulher, e agradou aos olhos de Sansão.
