O livro do profeta Ezequiel 21

A espada do Senhor

 

1 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

2 Filho do homem, dirige o teu rosto contra Jerusalém, e derrama as tuas palavras contra os santuários, e profetiza contra a terra de Israel.

3 E dize à terra de Israel: Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que sou contra ti, e tirarei a minha espada da bainha, e exterminarei do meio de ti o justo e o ímpio.

4 E, por isso que hei de exterminar do meio de ti o justo e o ímpio, a minha espada sairá da bainha contra toda a carne, desde o sul até ao norte.

5 E saberá toda a carne que eu, o Senhor, tirei a minha espada da bainha: nunca mais voltará a ela.

6 Tu porém ó filho do homem, suspira; suspira à vista deles, com quebrantamento dos teus lombos e com amargura.

7 E será que, quando eles te disserem: Por que suspira tu? Dirás: Por causa das novas, porque vêm; e todo o coração desmaiará, e todas as mãos se enfraquecerão, e todo o espírito se angustiará, e todos os joelhos se desfarão em águas; eis que vêm, e se realizarão, diz o Senhor Jeová.

8 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

9 Filho do homem, profetiza, e dize: Assim diz o Senhor: dize: A espada a espada está afiada, e também açacalada.

10 Para matar está afiada, para reluzir está açacalada: alegrar-nos-emos pois? A vara de meu filho é que despreza todo o madeiro.

11 E foi dada a açacalar, para ser manejada: esta espada está afiada, e está açacalada, para ser posta na mão do matador.

12 Grita e geme, ó filho do homem, porque ela será contra o meu povo, contra todos os príncipes de Israel: espantos terá o meu povo por causa da espada; bate pois na tua coxa.

13 Porque se faz uma prova, e que seria se não existisse a própria vara desprezadora? Diz o Senhor Jeová.

14 Tu pois, ó filho do homem, profetiza, e bate com as mãos uma na outra; porque a espada até à terceira vez se dobrará: a espada é dos atravessados, dos mortalmente feridos, e entrará neles até às recâmaras.

15 Para que desmaie o coração, e se multipliquem os tropeços, contra todas as suas portas pus a ponta da espada, que foi feita como raio, e está reservada para matar!

16 Ó espada, une-te, vira-te para a direita, prepara-te, vira-te para a esquerda, para onde quer que o teu rosto se dirigir.

17 E também eu baterei com as minhas mãos uma na outra, e farei descansar a minha indignação; eu, o Senhor, falei.

18 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor dizendo:

19 Tu pois, ó filho do homem, propõe dois caminhos, por onde venha a espada do rei de Babilônia: Ambos procederão de uma mesma terra, e escolhe um lugar; no cimo do caminho da cidade o escolhe.

20 Um caminho proporás, por onde virá a espada contra Rabá dos filhos de Amom, e contra Judá, em Jerusalém, a fortificada.

21 Porque o rei de Babilônia parará na encruzilhada, no cimo dos dois caminhos para fazer adivinhações: aguçará as suas flechas, consultará os terafins, atentando nas entranhas.

22 À sua direita estará a adivinhação sobre Jerusalém, para ordenar os aríetes, para abrir a boca à matança, para levantar a voz com júbilo, para pôr os aríetes contra as portas, para levantar tranqueiras, para edificar baluartes.

23 Isto será aos olhos deles como adivinhação vã, pois foram ajuramentados com juramentos entre eles; mas ele se lembrará da maldade, para que sejam apanhados.

24 Portanto assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Visto que me fazeis lembrar da vossa maldade, descobrindo-se as vossas prevaricações, aparecendo os vossos pecados em todos os vossos atos visto que vieste em memória, sereis apanhados na mão.

25 E tu, ó profano e ímpio príncipe de Israel, cujo dia virá no tempo da extrema maldade.

26 Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Tira o diadema, e levanta a coroa; esta não será a mesma: exalta ao humilde, e humilha ao soberbo.

27 Ao revés, ao revés, ao revés a porei, e ela não será mais, até que venha aquele a quem pertence de direito, e a ele a darei.

28 E tu, ó filho do homem, profetiza e dize: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová acerca dos filhos de Amom, e acerca do seu desprezo: dize pois: A espada, a espada está desembainhada, açacalada para a matança, para consumir, para reluzir;

29 Entretanto que te vêem vaidade, entretanto que te adivinham mentiras para te porem no pescoço dos ímpios, mortalmente feridos, cujo dia virá no tempo da extrema maldade.

30 Torne a tua espada à sua bainha: No lugar em que foste criado, na terra do teu nascimento, te julgarei.

31 E derramarei sobre ti a minha indignação, assoprarei contra ti o fogo do meu furor, entregar-te-ei nas mãos dos homens brutais, inventores de destruição.

32 Ao fogo servirás de pasto: o teu sangue estará no meio da terra: não virás em memória; porque eu, o Senhor, o disse.

1 सातवें साल, पाँचवें महीने के दसवें दिन, इस्राएल के कुछ बुज़ुर्ग यहोवा से पूछने आए, और वे मेरे सामने बैठे।

2 तब यहोवा का वचन मेरे पास आया,

3 हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, इस्राएल के बुज़ुर्गों से बात करो और उनसे कहो, ‘प्रभु यहोवा यह कहता है: “क्या तुम मुझसे सलाह लेने आए हो? मेरे जीवन की शपथ, तुम मुझसे सलाह नहीं लोगे,” प्रभु यहोवा की यह वाणी है।’

4 हे मनुष्य के पुत्र, क्या तू उनका न्याय करेगा? क्या तू उनका न्याय करेगा? उन्हें उनके पुरखाओं के घिनौने काम जता दे;

5 और उनसे कहो, “प्रभु परमेश्वर यह कहता है: जिस दिन मैंने इस्राएल को चुना, मैंने याकूब के घराने के वंशजों पर अपना हाथ बढ़ाया, और मिस्र देश में खुद को उन पर प्रकट किया, और मैंने उनसे अपना हाथ बढ़ाकर कहा, ‘मैं तुम्हारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हूँ।’”

6 उस दिन मैंने उन पर हाथ उठाया, कि उन्हें मिस्र देश से निकालकर उस देश में ले जाऊं जिसे मैंने उनके लिए पहले से देखा था, एक ऐसा देश जिसमें दूध और शहद की धाराएं बहती हों, और जो सब देशों की शान हो।

7 तब उसने उनसे कहा, “तुम में से हर एक को अपनी आँखों में जो घिनौनी चीज़ें हैं, उन्हें फेंक देना चाहिए, और मिस्र की मूर्तियों से खुद को गंदा मत करना। मैं तुम्हारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हूँ।”

8 लेकिन उन्होंने मेरे खिलाफ बगावत की और मेरी बात नहीं सुनी; किसी ने भी अपनी आँखों की घिनौनी चीज़ों को नहीं छोड़ा और न ही मिस्र की मूर्तियों को छोड़ा। इसलिए मैंने कहा कि मैं उन पर अपना गुस्सा निकालूँगा और मिस्र देश के बीच में उन पर अपना गुस्सा निकालूँगा।

9 लेकिन मैंने अपने नाम की खातिर काम किया , ताकि जिन देशों के बीच वे रहते थे, उनकी नज़र में यह नाम बदनाम न हो, जिनकी नज़रों में मैंने उन्हें मिस्र देश से निकालकर खुद को दिखाया था।

10 और मैं उन्हें मिस्र देश से निकालकर जंगल में ले गया।

11 और मैंने उन्हें अपनी विधियां दीं, और अपने नियम दिखाए, कि अगर कोई इंसान उन्हें माने, तो वह उनके हिसाब से जीएगा।

12 मैंने उन्हें अपने सब्त के दिन भी दिए, ताकि वे मेरे और उनके बीच एक निशानी बन जाएं, ताकि वे जान लें कि मैं ही वह यहोवा हूं जो उन्हें पवित्र बनाता है।

14 लेकिन मैंने अपने नाम की खातिर काम किया, ताकि जिन देशों के बीच मैं उन्हें ले आया, उनकी नज़र में यह नाम बदनाम न हो।

15 फिर भी मैंने जंगल में उन पर हाथ उठाया, कि मैं उन्हें उस देश में जाने न दूँ जो मैंने उन्हें दिया था, वह देश जिसमें दूध और शहद की धाराएँ बहती हैं, और जो सब देशों की शान है;

16 क्योंकि उन्होंने मेरे नियमों को ठुकरा दिया, मेरे नियमों पर नहीं चले, और मेरे सब्त के दिनों को अपवित्र किया; क्योंकि उनका दिल अपनी मूर्तियों की तरफ़ चला गया।

17 फिर भी, मेरी नज़र उन पर रही, ताकि मैं उन्हें खत्म न करूँ या रेगिस्तान में खत्म न करूँ।

18 लेकिन मैंने जंगल में उसके बच्चों से कहा, “अपने पुरखों के नियमों पर मत चलो, न उनके नियमों को मानो, न उनकी मूर्तियों से खुद को गंदा करो।”

19 मैं तुम्हारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हूँ ; मेरी विधियों पर चलो, और मेरे नियमों को मानो, और उनका पालन करो।

20 और मेरे सब्त के दिनों को पवित्र रखना, और वे मेरे और तुम्हारे बीच एक निशानी होंगे, ताकि तुम जान सको कि मैं तुम्हारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हूँ।

21 लेकिन बच्चों ने भी मेरे खिलाफ बगावत की, और मेरे नियमों पर नहीं चले, न ही मेरे नियमों को माना, जिन्हें अगर कोई माने तो वह उनके हिसाब से जीएगा; उन्होंने मेरे सब्त के दिनों को गलत ठहराया, इसलिए मैंने कहा कि मैं जंगल में उन पर अपना गुस्सा निकालूंगा।

22 लेकिन मैंने अपने नाम की खातिर यह काम रोक लिया, ताकि जिन देशों के सामने मैं उन्हें बाहर लाया था, उनकी नज़र में यह बेइज़्ज़त न हो।

23 फिर मैंने जंगल में उन पर हाथ बढ़ाया, ताकि उन्हें जातियों में तितर-बितर कर दूँ, और देश-देश में फैला दूँ;

24 क्योंकि उन्होंने मेरे नियमों को नहीं माना, मेरे नियमों को नहीं माना, मेरे सब्त के दिनों को अपवित्र किया, और उनकी नज़रें अपने पुरखों की मूर्तियों पर टिकी रहीं।

25 इसलिए मैंने उन्हें ऐसी विधियाँ दीं जो अच्छी नहीं थीं, और ऐसे नियम दिए जिनके द्वारा वे जीवित नहीं रह सकते थे;

26 और मैंने उन्हें उनके ही तोहफ़ों से अशुद्ध कर दिया, जिसमें उन्होंने गर्भ से निकलने वाली हर चीज़ को आग में डालकर उन्हें नष्ट कर दिया, ताकि वे जान लें कि मैं यहोवा हूँ।

27 इसलिए, हे मनुष्य के पुत्र, इस्राएल के घराने से कह, ‘प्रभु परमेश्वर यह कहता है: इस बात में भी तुम्हारे पूर्वजों ने मेरी निन्दा की और मेरे विरुद्ध अपराध किया।’

28 क्योंकि जब मैं उन्हें उस देश में ले आया जिसे देने की मैंने कसम खाई थी, तो उन्होंने हर ऊँची पहाड़ी और हर हरे-भरे पेड़ को देखा, और वहीं उन्होंने अपनी कुर्बानी चढ़ाई, और वहीं उन्होंने अपनी गुस्सा दिलाने वाली भेंट चढ़ाई , वहीं उन्होंने अपनी मीठी धूप जलाई, और वहीं उन्होंने अपनी अर्घ्य चढ़ाई ।

29 तब मैंने उनसे कहा, “यह ऊँची जगह क्या है जहाँ तुम जा रहे हो?” और आज तक इसका नाम बामाह है।

30 इसलिए इस्राएल के घराने से कहो, प्रभु परमेश्वर यह कहता है: क्या तुम अपने पूर्वजों के तरीके से खुद को अशुद्ध करते हो? और क्या तुम उनके घिनौने कामों से खुद को बिगाड़ते हो?

31 और जब तुम अपनी भेंट चढ़ाते हो और अपने बच्चों को आग में चढ़ाते हो, तो क्या तुम आज तक अपनी सभी मूर्तियों के कारण अशुद्ध नहीं हो जाते? और हे इस्राएल के घराने, क्या तुम मुझसे सलाह लेते हो? मेरे जीवन की शपथ, प्रभु परमेश्वर कहता है, तुम मुझसे सलाह मत लेना।

32 और जो बात तुम्हारे मन में आई है, वह हरगिज़ नहीं होगी जब तुम कहते हो, “हम दूसरे देशों की तरह, धरती की दूसरी पीढ़ियों की तरह, लकड़ी और पत्थर की सेवा करेंगे।”

33 मेरे जीवन की शपथ, प्रभु यहोवा की यह वाणी है, मैं तुम पर शक्तिशाली हाथ और बढ़ाई हुई भुजा से, और उंडेले हुए क्रोध से राज्य करूंगा,

34 मैं तुम्हें लोगों के बीच से निकालूंगा और उन देशों से इकट्ठा करूंगा जहां तुम बिखरे हुए थे, अपने ताकतवर हाथ और फैली हुई भुजा से, और अपने गुस्से से।

35 और मैं तुम्हें लोगों के जंगल में ले जाऊंगा, और वहां मैं तुम्हारे साथ आमने-सामने न्याय करूंगा।

36 जैसे मैंने मिस्र देश के जंगल में तुम्हारे पुरखों से न्याय किया था, वैसे ही मैं तुमसे भी न्याय करूँगा, यहोवा परमेश्वर की यही वाणी है।

37 और मैं तुम्हें छड़ी के नीचे से गुज़ारूंगा, और तुम्हें वाचा के बंधन में बांधूंगा।

38 और मैं तुम्हारे बीच से बागियों और मेरे खिलाफ़ पाप करने वालों को अलग कर दूँगा; मैं उन्हें उनके परदेसियों की ज़मीन से निकाल दूँगा , लेकिन वे इस्राएल की ज़मीन पर वापस नहीं लौटेंगे; और तुम जान लोगे कि मैं यहोवा हूँ।

39 हे इस्राएल के घराने, प्रभु यहोवा तुमसे यह कहता है: जाओ, तुम में से हर एक अपनी मूर्तियों की पूजा करो, क्योंकि तुम मेरी बात नहीं सुनोगे; लेकिन अपने तोहफ़ों और अपनी मूर्तियों से मेरे पवित्र नाम को और अपवित्र मत करो।

40 क्योंकि मेरे पवित्र पहाड़ पर, इस्राएल के ऊँचे पहाड़ पर, प्रभु यहोवा की यह वाणी है, इस्राएल का सारा घराना, उस देश में रहने वाला सब का सब मेरी सेवा करेगा; वहीं मैं उन्हें स्वीकार करूँगा, और वहीं मैं तुम्हारे चढ़ावे, और तुम्हारे दानों का पहला फल, और तुम्हारी सब पवित्र वस्तुएँ माँगूँगा।

41 जब मैं तुम्हें लोगों के बीच से निकालूंगा और उन देशों से इकट्ठा करूंगा जहां तुम बिखरे हुए हो, तो मैं तुम्हें मीठी खुशबू से खुश करूंगा; और मैं राष्ट्रों की नज़र में तुम्हारे द्वारा पवित्र हो जाऊंगा।

42 और जब मैं तुम्हें इस्राएल देश में वापस ले आऊंगा, उस देश में जिसे देने की कसम मैंने तुम्हारे पूर्वजों से खाई थी, तब तुम जान लोगे कि मैं यहोवा हूँ।

43 और वहाँ तुम अपने तौर-तरीके और अपने सारे काम याद करोगे जिनसे तुमने खुद को गंदा किया है, और तुम अपने किए सारे बुरे कामों के लिए खुद से नफ़रत करोगे।

44 और तुम जान लोगे कि मैं यहोवा हूँ, जब मैं तुम्हारे साथ अपने नाम के लिए बर्ताव करूँगा, न कि तुम्हारे बुरे तरीकों या तुम्हारे बुरे कामों के अनुसार, हे इस्राएल के घराने, यहोवा परमेश्वर की यही वाणी है।

45 तब यहोवा का वचन मेरे पास आया,

46 हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, अपना मुँह दक्षिण की ओर करके दक्षिण के विरुद्ध बोल, और दक्षिण के जंगल के विरुद्ध भविष्यवाणी कर।

47 और दक्षिण के जंगल से कहो , यहोवा की बात सुनो: यहोवा परमेश्वर यह कहता है: देखो, मैं तुम्हारे अंदर आग जलाऊंगा, और यह तुम्हारे अंदर के हर हरे पेड़ और हर सूखे पेड़ को जला देगी; यह धधकती आग बुझेगी नहीं, बल्कि दक्षिण से लेकर उत्तर तक हर चेहरा इससे झुलस जाएगा।

48 और सब लोग देखेंगे कि मुझ यहोवा ने इसे जलाया है; यह कभी बुझेगी नहीं।

49 तब मैंने कहा, “अरे, प्रभु यहोवा! वे मेरे बारे में कहते हैं, ‘क्या यह दृष्टांतों का कहने वाला नहीं है?’”

1 In the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, and they sat before me.

2 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

3 Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Do you come to consult me? As surely as I live, you will not consult me,” declares the Sovereign Lord.’

4 Would you judge them, son of man, would you judge them? Make them know the abominations of their fathers;

5 And say to them, “Thus says the Lord God: On the day that I chose Israel, I raised my hand to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, and I raised my hand to them, saying, ‘I am the Lord your God.’”

6 On that day I raised my hand to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt to a land that I had foreseen for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the glory of all lands.

7 Then he said to them, “Each of you must throw away the abominations you have in your eyes, and you must not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”

8 But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me; no one cast away the abominations of their eyes or forsook the idols of Egypt. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and expend my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

9 But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose eyes I had revealed myself to them by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

10 And I brought them out of the land of Egypt, and led them into the wilderness.

11 And I gave them my statutes, and showed them my judgments, which, if a man does them, he shall live by them.

12 I also gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between me and them, so they would know that I am the Lord who makes them holy.

13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not walk in my statutes and rejected my ordinances, which, if a man does them, he shall live by them; and they greatly profaned my Sabbaths; and I said that I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

14 But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom I brought them out.

15 Yet I lifted up my hand against them in the wilderness, that I would not let them enter the land which I had given them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the glory of all lands;

16 Because they rejected my judgments, and did not walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.

17 Nevertheless, my eye spared them, so as not to destroy them or consume them in the desert.

18 But I said to his children in the wilderness, “Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.”

19 I am the Lord your God ; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them.

20 And keep my Sabbaths holy, and they will be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I am the Lord your God.

21 But the children also rebelled against me, and did not walk in my statutes, nor keep my judgments, which, if a man does them, he shall live by them; they profaned my Sabbaths, therefore I said that I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness.

22 But I withheld my hand, and did it for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

23 I also raised my hand to them in the wilderness, to scatter them among the nations, and to disperse them throughout the lands;

24 Because they did not execute my judgments, and rejected my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes went after the idols of their fathers.

25 Therefore I also gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances by which they could not live;

26 And I defiled them with their own gifts, in which they caused everything that opens the womb to pass through the fire, to destroy them, so that they might know that I am the Lord.

27 Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: In this also your fathers blasphemed me and transgressed against me.’

28 For when I had brought them into the land which I had swore to give to them, they looked at every high hill and every leafy tree, and there they offered their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offerings, there they set their sweet incense, and there they poured out their drink offerings.

29 And I said to them, “What is this high place to which you are going?” And its name has been Bamah to this day.

30 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Do you defile yourselves in the manner of your fathers? And do you prostitute yourselves with their abominations?

31 And when you offer your gifts and make your children pass through the fire, are you not defiled with all your idols to this day? And would you consult me, O house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord God, you shall not consult me.

32 And what came into your mind will by no means happen when you say, “We will be like the nations, like the other generations of the earth, serving wood and stone.”

33 As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will rule over you with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out,

34 I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you have been scattered, with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and with outpoured wrath.

35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.

36 As I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you, declares the Lord God.

37 And I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

38 And I will separate from among you the rebels, and those who have transgressed against me; I will bring them out of the land of their sojournings , but they shall not return to the land of Israel; and you shall know that I am the Lord.

39 As for you, O house of Israel, this is what the Lord GOD says: Go, each of you serve your idols, since you will not listen to me; but do not profane my holy name any longer with your gifts and your idols.

40 For on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, there all the house of Israel, all of them in that land, shall serve me; there I will accept them, and there I will require your heave offerings, and the firstfruits of your gifts, with all your holy things.

41 I will delight in you with a sweet-smelling aroma, when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations.

42 And you will know that I am the Lord, when I bring you back to the land of Israel, the land I swore to give to your ancestors.

43 And there you will remember your ways and all your deeds by which you have defiled yourselves, and you will loathe yourselves for all the wickedness you have committed.

44 And you will know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for my name’s sake, not according to your evil ways or your corrupt deeds, O house of Israel, declares the Lord God.

45 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

46 Son of man, set your face toward the south, and speak against the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field.

47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the Lord: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall consume every green tree and every dry tree in you; the blazing flame shall not be quenched, but every face shall be scorched by it, from the south even to the north.

2 Então veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

3 Filho do homem, fala aos anciãos de Israel, e dize-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Vós vindes consultar-me? Vivo eu, que vós não me consultareis, diz o Senhor Jeová.

4 Julgá-los-ias tu, ó filho do homem, julgá-los-ias? Faze-lhes saber as abominações de seus pais;

5 E dize-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: No dia em que escolhi a Israel, levantei a minha mão para a descendência da casa de Jacó, e me dei a conhecer a eles na terra do Egito, e levantei a minha mão para eles, dizendo: Eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus.

10 E os tirei da terra do Egito, e os levei ao deserto.

11 E dei-lhes os meus estatutos, e lhes mostrei os meus juízos, os quais, cumprindo-os o homem, viverá por eles.

12 E também lhes dei os meus sábados, para que servissem de sinal entre mim e eles: para que soubessem que eu sou o Senhor que os santifica.

13 Mas a casa de Israel se rebelou contra mim no deserto, não andando nos meus estatutos, e rejeitando os meus juízos, os quais, cumprindo-os o homem, viverá por eles; e profanaram grandemente os meus sábados; e eu disse que derramaria sobre eles o meu furor no deserto, para os consumir.

14 O que fiz porém foi por amor do meu nome, para que não fosse profanado diante dos olhos das nações perante as quais os fiz sair.

15 E, contudo, eu levantei a minha mão para eles no deserto, para os não deixar entrar na terra que lhes tinha dado, a qual mana leite e mel, e é a glória de todas as terras;

16 Porque rejeitaram os meus juízos, e não andaram nos meus estatutos, e profanaram os meus sábados; porque o seu coração andava após os seus ídolos.

17 Não obstante o meu olho lhes perdoou, para não os destruir nem os consumir no deserto.

18 Mas disse eu a seus filhos no deserto: Não andeis nos estatutos de vossos pais, nem guardeis os seus juízos, nem vos contamineis com os seus ídolos.

19 Eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus, andai nos meus estatutos, e guardai os meus juízos, e executai-os.

20 E santificai os meus sábados, e servirão de sinal entre mim e vós, para que saibais que eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus.

21 Mas também os filhos se rebelaram contra mim, e não andaram nos meus estatutos, nem guardaram os meus juízos, os quais, cumprindo-os o homem, viverá por eles; eles profanaram os meus sábados, por isso eu disse que derramaria sobre eles a minha ira no deserto.

22 Mas contive a minha mão, e o fiz por amor do meu nome, para que não fosse profanado aos olhos das nações, à vista das quais os fiz sair.

23 Também levantei a minha mão para eles no deserto, para os espalhar entre as nações, e os derramar pelas terras;

24 Porque não executaram os meus juízos, e rejeitaram os meus estatutos, e profanaram os meus sábados, e os seus olhos se iam após os ídolos de seus pais.

25 Pelo que também lhes dei estatutos que não eram bons, e juízos pelos quais não haviam de viver;

26 E os contaminei em seus próprios dons, nos quais faziam passar pelo fogo tudo o que abre a madre: para os assolar, para que soubessem que eu sou o Senhor.

27 Portanto fala à casa de Israel, ó filho do homem, e dize-lhe: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Ainda nisto me blasfemaram vossos pais, e transgrediram contra mim.

28 Porque, havendo-os eu introduzido na terra sobre a qual eu levantara a minha mão, para lha dar, então olharam para todo o outeiro alto, e para toda árvore frondosa, e sacrificaram ali os seus sacrifícios, e apresentaram ali a provocação das suas ofertas, puseram ali os seus cheiros suaves, e ali derramaram as suas libações.

34 E vos tirarei dentre os povos, e vos congregarei das terras nas quais andais espalhados, com mão forte, e com braço estendido, e com indignação derramada.

35 E vos levarei ao deserto dos povos; e ali entrarei em juízo convosco cara a cara.

36 Como entrei em juízo com vossos pais, no deserto da terra do Egito, assim entrarei em juízo convosco, diz o Senhor Jeová.

37 E vos farei passar debaixo da vara, e vos farei entrar no vínculo do concerto.

38 E separarei dentre vós os rebeldes, e os que prevaricaram contra mim; da terra das suas peregrinações os tirarei, mas à terra de Israel não voltarão: e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor.

40 Porque no meu santo monte, no monte alto de Israel, diz o Senhor Jeová, ali me servirá toda a casa de Israel, toda ela naquela terra: ali me deleitarei neles, e ali demandarei as vossas ofertas alçadas, e as primícias das vossas dádivas, com todas as vossas coisas santas.

41 Com cheiro suave me deleitarei em vós, quando eu vos tirar dentre os povos e vos congregar das terras em que andais espalhados; e serei santificado em vós ante os olhos das nações.

42 E sabereis que eu sou o Senhor, quando eu vos fizer voltar à terra de Israel, à terra para a qual levantei a minha mão, para a dar a vossos pais.

47 E dize ao bosque do sul: Ouve a palavra do Senhor: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Eis que acenderei em ti um fogo que em ti consumirá toda a árvore verde e toda a árvore seca: não se apagará a chama flamejante, antes com ela se queimarão todos os rostos, desde o sul até ao norte.

4 And when the nations heard of him, he was caught in his pit, and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.

10 Your mother was like a vine in your distress, planted by the waters; it yielded fruit and was full of branches because of the abundant waters.

11 It had strong branches for scepters of rulers, and its stature grew tall among the thick branches; it was seen in its height with the multitude of its branches.

12 But it was uprooted in fury, it was brought down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit; its strong branches were broken and withered, the fire consumed them. 

13 And now it is planted in the desert, in a dry and thirsty land.

14 And from a branch of its boughs came forth fire that consumed its fruit, so that there is no strong branch in it, no cedar to rule over it. This is a lamentation, and it will serve as a lamentation.

1 The word of the Lord came to me:

2 “What do you mean by repeating this proverb concerning the land of Israel: ‘The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’?

3 As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel.

4 For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son—the soul who sins is the one who will die.

5 If a person is righteous and does what is just and right,

6 does not eat on the mountains or look to the idols of the house of Israel, does not defile his neighbor’s wife or have sexual relations with a woman during her menstrual impurity,

7 Not oppressing anyone, returning the pledge to the debtor, and not stealing, giving his bread to the hungry, and covering the naked with clothing,

8 Not lending his money at interest, and not receiving excessive profit, turning his hand away from injustice, and doing true justice between man and man;

9 Walking in my statutes, and keeping my judgments, to do according to truth, that righteous person shall surely live, says the Lord God.

10 And if he begets a son who is a thief, a shedder of blood, who does any of these things to his brother;

11 And does not perform all those duties, but rather eats on the mountains, and defiles his neighbor's wife;

12 And oppresses the afflicted and needy, commits robbery, does not return the pledge, and lifts up his eyes to idols, commits abomination;

13 And lends at interest, and receives excessive profit, shall he live? He shall not live: All these abominations he has committed, he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.

14 And behold, if he begets a son who sees all the sins that his father has committed, and, seeing them, does not commit similar things;

15 Does not eat on the mountains, nor lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, nor defile his neighbor's wife;

16 And does not oppress anyone, nor withhold the pledge, nor steal, but gives his bread to the hungry, and covers the naked with clothing;

17 Who withholds his hand from the afflicted, does not take excessive usury, does my judgments, and walks in my statutes, that one shall not die for the iniquity of his father; he shall surely live.

18 His father, because he has oppressed, and robbed his brother's goods, and done what was not good in the midst of his people, behold, he shall die for his iniquity.

19 But you say, “Why should the son not bear the iniquity of the father?” Because the son has done what is just and right, and has kept all my statutes and done them, he shall surely live.

20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, nor shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

21 But if the wicked man turns from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

22 None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness that he has done he shall live.

23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Lord GOD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

24 But if a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin, doing all the detestable things that the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous acts they have done will be remembered. Because of the sin they have committed and the transgression they have committed, they will die.

25 But you say, “The way of the Lord is not right.” Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not my way right? Are not your ways crooked?

26 When a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin, they will die for it; because of the sin they have committed, they will die.

27 But if a wicked person turns from their wickedness that they have committed and does what is just and right, they will live.

28 Because they consider and turn from all the sins they have committed, they will surely live; they will not die.

 29 Yet the house of Israel says, “The way of the Lord is not right.” Are not my ways right, O house of Israel? Are not your ways crooked?

30 Therefore, I will judge you, O house of Israel, each one according to his ways, declares the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your downfall.

31 Cast away from you all the transgressions you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?

32 For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God. Repent and live!

1 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

2 Que tendes vós, vós que dizeis esta parábola acerca da terra de Israel, dizendo: Os pais comeram uvas verdes, e os dentes dos filhos se embotaram?

3 Vivo eu, diz o Senhor Jeová, que nunca mais direis este provérbio em Israel.

4 Eis que todas as almas são minhas; como a alma do pai, também a alma do filho é minha: a alma que pecar, essa morrerá.

5 Sendo pois o homem justo, e fazendo juízo e justiça.

6 Não comendo sobre os montes, nem levantando os seus olhos para os ídolos da casa de Israel, nem contaminando a mulher do seu próximo, nem se chegando à mulher na sua separação;

7 Não oprimindo a ninguém, tornando ao devedor o seu penhor, e não roubando, dando o seu pão ao faminto, e cobrindo ao nu com vestido,

8 Não dando o seu dinheiro à usura, e não recebendo demais, desviando a sua mão da injustiça, e fazendo verdadeiro juízo entre homem e homem;

9 Andando nos meus estatutos, e guardando os meus juízos, para obrar segundo a verdade, o tal justo certamente viverá, diz o Senhor Jeová.

10 E se ele gerar um filho ladrão, derramador de sangue, que fizer a seu irmão qualquer destas coisas;

11 E não cumprir todos aqueles deveres, mas antes comer sobre os montes, e contaminar a mulher do seu próximo;

12 E oprimir ao aflito e necessitado, praticar roubos, não tornar o penhor, e levantar os seus olhos para os ídolos, cometer abominação;

13 E emprestar com usura, e receber demais, porventura viverá? Não viverá: Todas estas abominações ele fez, certamente morrerá; o seu sangue será sobre ele.

14 E eis que, se ele gerar um filho que veja todos os pecados que seu pai fez, e, vendo-os não cometer coisas semelhantes;

15 Não comer sobre os montes, e não levantar os seus olhos para os ídolos da casa de Israel, e não contaminar a mulher de seu próximo;

16 E não oprimir a ninguém, e não retiver o penhor, e não roubar, der o seu pão ao faminto, e cobrir ao nu com vestidos;

17 Desfiar do aflito a sua mão, não receber usura em demasia, fizer os meus juízos, e andar nos meus estatutos, o tal não morrerá pela maldade de seu pai; certamente viverá.

18 Seu pai, porque fez opressão, e roubou os bens do irmão, e fez o que não era bom no meio de seu povo, eis que ele morrerá pela sua maldade.

19 Mas dizeis: Por que não levará o filho a maldade do pai? Porque o filho fez juízo e justiça, e guardou todos os meus estatutos, e praticou, por isso certamente viverá.

20 A alma que pecar, essa morrerá: o filho não levará a maldade do pai nem o pai levará a maldade do filho: A justiça do justo ficará sobre ele, e a impiedade do ímpio cairá sobre ele.

21 Mas se o ímpio se converter de todos os seus pecados que cometeu, e guardar todos os meus estatutos, e fizer juízo e justiça, certamente viverá; não morrerá.

22 De todas suas transgressões que cometeu não haverá lembrança contra ele: pela sua justiça que praticou viverá.

23 Desejaria eu, de qualquer maneira, a morte do ímpio? Diz o Senhor Jeová: não desejo antes que se converta dos seus caminhos e viva?

24 Mas, desviando-se o justo da sua justiça, e cometendo a iniqüidade, fazendo conforme todas as abominações que faz o ímpio, porventura viverá? De todas as suas justiças que tiver feito não se fará memória: na sua transgressão com que transgrediu, e no seu pecado com que pecou, neles morrerá.

25 Dizeis, porém: O caminho do Senhor não é direito. Ouvi agora, ó casa de Israel: Não é o meu caminho direito? Não são os vossos caminhos torcidos?

26 Desviando-se o justo da sua justiça, e cometendo iniqüidade, morrerá por ela; na sua iniqüidade que cometeu morrerá.

27 Mas convertendo-se o ímpio da sua impiedade que cometeu, e praticando o juízo e a justiça, conservará este a sua alma em vida.

28 Pois que reconsidera, e se converte de todas as suas transgressões que cometeu, certamente viverá, não morrerá.

29 Contudo, diz a casa de Israel: O caminho do Senhor não é direito. Não são os meus caminhos direitos, ó casa de Israel? E não são os vossos caminhos torcidos?

30 Portanto, eu vos julgarei, a cada um conforme os seus caminhos, ó casa de Israel, diz o Senhor Jeová: vinde, e convertei-vos de todas as vossas transgressões, e a iniqüidade não vos servirá de tropeço.

31 Lançai de vós todas as vossas transgressões com que transgredistes, e criai em vós um coração novo e um espírito novo; pois por que razão morreríeis, ó casa de Israel?

1 The word of the Lord came to me:

2 “Son of man, set forth a parable, and tell it to the house of Israel.

3 Say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: A great eagle with powerful wings and full plumage of colorful feathers came to Lebanon and took the topmost branch of a cedar.

4 It broke off its topmost branch and brought it to a trading land; it set it in a city of merchants.

5 It took some of the seed of the land and planted it in a field of seed; with great care it planted it by abundant waters.

6 It sprouted and became a large, low vine, its branches turning toward it, because its roots were under it. It became a vine that produced shoots and sent out new branches.

7 And there was another great eagle, with great wings and full of feathers; and behold, this vine sent out its roots toward it, and extended its branches toward it from the edges of its planting, so that it might water it.

8 It was planted in good soil by abundant waters, to produce branches and bear fruit, so that it would be a choice vine.

9 Say, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Will it prosper? Will he not pull up its roots and cut off its fruit so that it withers? All the leaves of its shoots will wither; it will not be pulled up by a large arm or many people.

10 But when it is planted, will it prosper? Will it not wither completely when the east wind touches it? It will wither from the edges of its planting.”

11 Then the word of the Lord came to me:

12 “Say now to this rebellious house, ‘Do you not understand what these things mean?’” Say: Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king and its princes, and carried them away with him to Babylon;

13 And he took one of the royal seed, and made a covenant with him, and brought him under oath; and he took the mighty men of the land;

14 That the kingdom might be humbled, and not rise up; that, by keeping his covenant, it might endure.

15 But he rebelled against him, sending his messengers to Egypt, that they might send him horses and many men. Shall he prosper or escape who does such things? Or shall he break the covenant and escape?

16 As I live, says the Lord God, in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, yes, with him in the midst of Babylon he shall surely die.

17 And Pharaoh, neither with a great army nor with a numerous company, will do anything against him in war, raising siege ramps and building bulwarks, to destroy many lives.

18 Because he despised the oath, broke the covenant, and gave his hand; having done all these things, he will not escape.

19 Therefore, thus says the Lord God: As I live, my oath, which he despised, and my covenant, which he broke, this I will bring upon his own head.

20 And I will spread my net over him, and he shall be caught in my snare; and I will bring him to Babylon, and there I will enter into judgment with him for the rebellion with which he rebelled against me.

21 And all his fugitives, with all his troops, shall fall by the sword, and those who remain shall be scattered in every direction; and you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it.

22 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will take the top of the cedar and plant it; I will cut off the tenderest of its shoots and plant it on a high and lofty mountain.

23 On the high mountain of Israel I will plant it, and it will produce branches and bear fruit and become a splendid cedar. All kinds of birds will nest under it and in the shade of its branches they will find shelter.

24 Then all the trees of the field will know that I, the Lord, have brought down the high tree and exalted the low tree, I have dried up the green tree and made the dry tree flourish. I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it.

1 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

2 Filho do homem, propõe uma parábola, e usa duma comparação para com a casa de Israel.

3 E dize: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Uma grande águia, de grandes asas, de farta plumagem, cheia de penas de várias cores, veio ao Líbano e levou o mais alto ramo dum cedro.

4 E arrancou a ponta mais alta dos seus ramos, e a trouxe a uma terra de mercancia, na cidade de mercadores a pôs.

5 Tomou da semente da terra, e a lançou num campo de semente: tomando-a, a pôs junto às grandes águas com grande prudência.

6 E brotou, e tornou-se numa videira mui larga, de pouca altura, virando-se para ela os seus ramos, porque as suas raízes estavam debaixo dela; e tornou-se numa videira, e produzia sarmentos, e lançava renovos.

7 E houve mais uma grande águia, de grandes asas, e cheia de penas; e eis que esta videira lançou para ela as suas raízes, e estendeu para ela os seus ramos, desde as auréolas do seu plantio, para que a regasse.

8 Numa boa terra, à borda de muitas águas, estava ela plantada, para produzir ramos, e para dar frutos, para que fosse videira excelente.

9 Dize: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Ela prosperará? Não lhe arrancará ele as suas raízes, e não cortará o seu fruto, para que se seque? Em todas as folhas de seus renovos se secará; e, não com braço grande, nem com muita gente, será arrancada pelas suas raízes.

10 Mas, estando plantada, prosperará? Porventura, tocando-lhe vento oriental, de todo não se secará? Desde as auréolas do seu plantio se secará.

11 Então veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

12 Dize agora à casa rebelde: Não sabeis o que significam estas coisas? Dize: Eis que veio o rei de Babilônia a Jerusalém, e tomou o seu rei e os seus príncipes, e os levou consigo para Babilônia;

13 E tomou um da semente real, e fez concerto com ele, e o trouxe sob juramento; e tomou os poderosos da terra;

14 Para que o reino ficasse humilhado, e não se levantasse: para que, guardando o seu concerto, pudesse subsistir.

15 Mas rebelou-se contra ele, enviando os seus mensageiros ao Egito, para que se lhe mandassem cavalos e muita gente: Prosperará ou escapará aquele que faz tais coisas? Ou quebrantará o concerto, e escapará?

16 Como eu vivo, diz o Senhor Jeová, no lugar em que habita o rei que o fez reinar, cujo juramento desprezou, e cujo concerto quebrantou, sim, com ele no meio de Babilônia certamente morrerá.

17 E Faraó, nem com grande exército, nem com uma companhia numerosa, fará coisa alguma com ele em guerra, levantando tranqueiras e edificando baluartes, para destruir muitas vidas.

18 Pois que desprezou o juramento, quebrantando o concerto, e deu a sua mão; havendo feito todas estas coisas, não escapará.

19 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Vivo eu, que o meu juramento, que desprezou, e o meu concerto, que quebrantou, isto farei recair sobre a sua cabeça.

20 E estenderei sobre ele a minha rede, e ficará preso no meu laço; e o levarei a Babilônia, e ali entrarei em juízo com ele pela rebeldia com que se rebelou contra mim.

21 E todos os seus fugitivos, com todas as suas tropas, cairão à espada, e os que restarem serão espalhados em todas as direções; e sabereis que eu, o Senhor, o disse.

22 Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Também eu tomarei o topo do cedro, e o plantarei; do principal dos seus renovos cortarei o mais tenro, e o plantarei sobre um monte alto e sublime.

23 No monte alto de Israel o plantarei, e produzirá ramos, e dará fruto, e se fará um cedro excelente; e habitarão debaixo dele todas as aves de toda a sorte de asas, e à sombra dos seus ramos habitarão.

24 Assim saberão todas as árvores do campo que eu, o Senhor, abati a árvore alta, elevei a árvore baixa, sequei a árvore verde, e fiz reverdecer a árvore seca: eu, o Senhor, o disse, e o farei.
