1 No principio do reinado de Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, veio esta palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

2 Assim diz o Senhor: Põe-te no átrio da casa do Senhor e dize a todas as cidades de Judá, que vêm adorar à casa do Senhor, todas as palavras que te mandei que lhes dissesses; não esqueças nem uma palavra:

3 Bem pode ser que ouçam, e se convertam cada um do seu mau caminho, e eu me arrependa do mal que intento fazer-lhes por causa da maldade das suas ações.

4 Dize-lhes pois: Assim diz o Senhor: Se não me derdes ouvidos para andardes na minha lei, que pus diante de vós,

5 Para que ouvísseis as palavras dos meus servos, os profetas, que eu vos envio, madrugando e enviando, mas não ouvistes;

6 Então farei que esta casa seja como Silo, e farei desta cidade uma maldição para todas as nações da terra.

7 E ouviram os sacerdotes, e os profetas, e todo o povo, a Jeremias, anunciando estas palavras na casa do Senhor.

8 E sucedeu que, acabando Jeremias de dizer tudo quanto o Senhor lhe havia ordenado que dissesse a todo o povo, pegaram nele os sacerdotes, e os profetas e todo o povo, dizendo: Certamente morrerás.

9 Porque profetizaste no nome do Senhor, dizendo: Será como Silo esta casa, e esta cidade será assolada, de sorte que fique sem moradores. E ajuntou-se todo o povo contra Jeremias, na casa do Senhor.

10 E, ouvindo os príncipes de Judá estas palavras, subiram da casa do rei à casa do Senhor, e se assentaram à entrada da porta nova do Senhor.

11 Então falaram os sacerdotes e os profetas aos príncipes e a todo o povo, dizendo: Este homem é réu de morte, porque profetizou contra esta cidade, como ouvistes com os vossos ouvidos.

12 E falou Jeremias a todos os príncipes e a todo o povo, dizendo: O Senhor me enviou a profetizar contra esta casa, e contra esta cidade, todas as palavras que ouvistes.

13 Agora pois, melhorai os vossos caminhos e as vossas ações, e ouvi a voz do Senhor vosso Deus, e arrepender-se-á o Senhor do mal que falou contra vós.

14 Quanto a mim, eis que estou nas vossas mãos; fazei de mim conforme o que for bom e reto aos vossos olhos.

15 Sabei porém com certeza que, se me matardes a mim, trareis sangue inocente sobre vós, e sobre esta cidade, e sobre os seus habitantes: porque, na verdade, o Senhor me enviou a vós, para dizer aos vossos ouvidos todas estas palavras.

16 Então disseram os príncipes, e todo o povo, aos sacerdotes e aos profetas: Este homem não é réu de morte, porque em nome do Senhor, nosso Deus, nos falou.

17 Também se levantaram alguns dentre os anciãos da terra, e falaram a toda a congregação do povo, dizendo:

18 Miquéias, o morasita, profetizou nos dias de Ezequias, rei de Judá, e falou a todo o povo de Judá, dizendo: Assim disse o Senhor dos Exércitos: Sião será lavrada como um campo, e Jerusalém se tornará em montões de pedras, e o monte desta casa como os altos de um bosque.

19 Mataram-no, porventura, Ezequias, rei de Judá, e todo o Judá? Antes não temeu este ao Senhor, e não implorou o favor do Senhor? E o Senhor se arrependeu do mal que falara contra eles: e nós fazemos um grande mal contra as nossas almas.

20 Também houve um homem que profetizava em nome do Senhor: Urias, filho de Semaías, de Quiriate-Jearim, o qual profetizou contra esta cidade, e contra esta terra, conforme todas as palavras de Jeremias.

21 E, ouvindo o rei Joaquim, e todos os seus valentes, e todos os príncipes, as suas palavras, procurou o rei mata-lo: e ouvindo isto Urias, temeu, e fugiu, e foi para o Egito;

22 Mas o rei Joaquim, enviou uns homens ao Egito, a Elnatã, filho de Acbor, e a outros homens com ele, ao Egito;

23 E eles tiraram a Urias do Egito e o trouxeram ao rei Joaquim, que o feriu à espada, e lançou o seu cadáver nas sepulturas dos filhos do povo.

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah (which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon),

2 Which the prophet Jeremiah announced to all the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until this day (which is the twenty-third year), the word of the Lord came to me, and I proclaimed it to you, rising early and speaking; but you did not listen.

4 The Lord also sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them (but you did not listen or incline your ears to hear),

5 Saying, “Turn now, each of you, from your evil way and from the wickedness of your deeds, and dwell in the land that the Lord gave to you and to your fathers forever and ever;

6 Do not go after other gods to serve them or worship them, and do not provoke me to anger with the work of your hands, so that I do not harm you.

7 Yet you did not listen to me, declares the Lord, but you provoked me to anger with the work of your hands, to your own harm.

8 Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says: Because you have not listened to my words.

9 Behold, I will send and take all the generations of the north, says the Lord, even Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, my servant, and I will bring them against this land and against its inhabitants and against all these surrounding nations, and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment and a hissing, and a perpetual wasteland.

10 And I will cause to perish among them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

11 And this whole land shall become a desolate wasteland, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

12 But it shall come to pass, when seventy years are fulfilled, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, says the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; I will make them a perpetual desolation.

13 And I will bring upon this land all my words that I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah prophesied against all these nations.

14 For many nations and great kings will also serve them; so I will repay them according to their deeds and according to the work of their hands.

15 For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Take from my hand this cup of the wine of wrath, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it.

16 So that they may drink and tremble and go mad because of the sword that I will send among them.

17 Then I took the cup from the Lord’s hand and made all the nations drink, to whom the Lord had sent me.

18 To Jerusalem, and to the cities of Judah, and to their kings, and to their princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day:

19 To Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his servants, and to his princes, and to all his people;

20 And to all the mixed multitude, and to all the kings of the land of Uz, and to all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and to Ashkelon, and to Gaza, and to Ekron, and to the remnant of Ashdod,

21E to Edom, and to Moab, and to the children of Ammon;

22 And to all the kings of Tyre, and to all the kings of Sidon, and to the kings of the islands beyond the sea;

23 To Dedan, and to Tema, and to Buz, and to all who dwell in the uttermost parts of the earth;

24 And to all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed people who dwell in the desert;

25 And to all the kings of Zimri, and to all the kings of Elam, and to all the kings of Media:

26 And all the kings of the north, those near and those far away, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the earth that are on the face of the earth, and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

27 For you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink and be drunk, and vomit, and fall down, and do not rise again, because of the sword that I will send among you.’

28 And if they refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: You shall surely drink.’

29 For behold, I begin to punish the city which is called by my name; and shall you go unpunished? No, you shall not go unpunished, for I am calling for a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth, says the Lord of hosts.

30 You shall prophesy all these words to them, and say to them: “The Lord will roar from on high and utter his voice from his holy dwelling place; he will roar mightily against his dwelling place, with a shout of joy, like those who tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.”

31 The sound will reach to the ends of the earth, for the Lord has a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh; he will give the wicked to the sword, says the Lord.

32 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, evil goes forth from nation to nation, and a great tempest shall arise from the ends of the earth.

33 And the slain of the Lord on that day shall be from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth: they shall not be mourned, nor gathered, nor buried; but they shall be like dung on the face of the earth.

34 Howl, you shepherds, and cry out; roll yourselves in ashes, you leaders of the flock, for your days to be slaughtered have come, and I will break you, and you will fall like a precious vessel.

35 And there will be no escape for the shepherds, nor rescue for the leaders of the flock.

36 The voice of the shepherds crying out, and the howling of the leaders of the flock; for the Lord has destroyed their pasture.

37 For their peaceful flocks will be uprooted because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

38 He has abandoned his dwelling place like a young lion; for his land has been laid waste because of the fury of the oppressor, and because of the fierceness of his wrath.

2 A qual anunciou o profeta Jeremias a todo o povo de Judá, e a todos os habitantes de Jerusalém, dizendo:

3 Desde o ano treze de Josias, filho de Amom, rei de Judá, até este dia (que é o ano vinte e três), veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, e vo-la anunciei a vós, madrugando e falando; mas vós não escutastes.

4 Também vos enviou o Senhor todos os seus servos, os profetas, madrugando e enviando-os (mas vós não escutastes, nem inclinastes os vossos ouvidos para ouvir),

5 Dizendo: Convertei-vos agora cada um do seu mau caminho, e da maldade das suas ações, e habitai na terra que o Senhor vos deu e a vossos pais, de século em século;

6 E não andeis após deuses alheios para os servirdes, e para vos inclinardes diante deles, nem me provoqueis à ira com a obra de vossas mãos, para que vos não faça mal.

7 Todavia não me destes ouvidos, diz o Senhor, mas que provocastes à ira com a obra de vossas mãos, para vosso mal.

8 Portanto assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Visto que não escutastes as minhas palavras.

9 Eis que eu enviarei, e tomarei a todas as gerações do norte, diz o Senhor, como também a Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, meu servo, e os trarei sobre esta terra, e sobre os seus moradores, e sobre todas estas nações em redor, e os destruirei totalmente, e pô-los-ei em espanto, e em assobio, e em perpétuos desertos.

10 E farei perecer entre eles a voz de folguedo, e a voz de alegria, a voz do esposo, e a voz da esposa, o som das mós, e a luz do candeeiro.

11 E toda esta terra virá a ser um deserto e um espanto; e estas nações servirão ao rei de Babilônia setenta anos.

12 Acontecerá porém que, quando se cumprirem os setenta anos, visitarei o rei de Babilônia, e esta nação, diz o Senhor, castigando a sua iniqüidade, e a da terra dos caldeus; farei deles uns desertos perpétuos.

13 E trarei sobre esta terra todas as minhas palavras, que disse contra ela, tudo quanto está escrito neste livro, que profetizou Jeremias contra todas estas nações.

14 Porque também deles se servirão muitas nações e grandes reis: assim lhes retribuirei segundo os seus feitos, e segundo as obras das suas mãos.

15 Porque assim me disse o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: Toma da minha mão este copo do vinho do furor, e darás a beber dele a todas as nações, às quais eu te enviar.

16 Para que bebam e tremam, e enlouqueçam, por causa da espada, que eu enviarei entre eles.

17 E tomei o copo da mão do Senhor, e dei a beber a todas as nações, às quais o Senhor me tinha enviado:

18 A Jerusalém, e às cidades de Judá, e aos seus reis, e aos seus príncipes, para fazer deles um deserto, um espanto, um assobio, e uma maldição, como hoje se vê:

19 A Faraó, rei do Egito, e a seus servos, e a seus príncipes, e a todo o seu povo;

20 E a toda a mistura de gente, e a todos os reis da terra de Uz, e a todos os reis da terra dos filisteus, e a Asquelom, e a Gaza, e a Ecrom, e ao resto de Asdode,

21E a Edom, e a Moabe, e aos filhos de Amom;

22 E a todos os reis de Tiro, e a todos os reis de Sidom; e aos reis das ilhas de além do mar;

23 A Dedã, e a Temá, e a Buz e a todos os que habitam nos últimos cantos da terra;

24 E a todos os reis da Arábia, e todos os reis do misturado povo que habita no deserto;

25 E a todos os reis de Zinri, e a todos os reis de Elão, e a todos os reis da Média:

26 E a todos os reis do norte, os de perto, e os de longe, um com outro, e a todos os reinos da terra, que estão sobre a face da terra, e o rei de Sesaque beberá depois deles.

27 Pois lhes dirás: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Bebei e embebedai-vos, e vomitai, e caí, e não torneis a levantar-vos, por causa da espada que eu vos enviarei.

28 E será que, se não quiserem tomar o copo da tua mão para beber, então lhes dirás: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Certamente bebereis.

29 Porque, eis que na cidade que se chama pelo meu nome começo a castigar; e ficareis vós totalmente impunes? Não, não ficareis impunes, porque eu chamo a espada sobre todos os moradores da terra, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.

30 Tu pois lhes profetizarás todas estas palavras, e lhes dirás: O Senhor desde o alto bramirá e fará ouvir a sua voz desde a morada da sua santidade: terrivelmente bramirá contra a sua habitação, com grito de alegria, como dos que pisam as uvas, contra todos os moradores da terra.

31 Chegará o estrondo até à extremidade da terra, porque o Senhor tem contenda com as nações, entrará em juízo com toda a carne: os ímpios entregará à espada, diz o Senhor.

32 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Eis que o mal sai de nação para nação, e grande tormenta se levantará dos confins da terra.

33 E serão os mortos do Senhor, naquele dia, desde uma extremidade da terra até à outra extremidade da terra: não serão pranteados, nem recolhidos, nem sepultados; mas serão como estrume sobre a face da terra.

9 Concerning the prophets. My heart is broken within me; all my bones tremble; I am like a drunken man, and like a man overcome with wine, because of the Lord, and because of the words of his holiness.

10 For the land is full of adulterers, and the land mourns because of the curse; the pastures of the wilderness are dried up; for their course is evil, and their strength is not right.

11 For both prophet and priest are defiled; even in my house I have found their wickedness, says the Lord.

12 Therefore their way shall be to them as slippery places in the darkness; they shall be driven and fall therein; for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, says the Lord.

13 In the prophets of Samaria I have seen folly; they prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. 

14 But among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and walk in falsehood; they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that they do not turn from their wickedness. They have become like Sodom to me, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem like Gomorrah.

15 Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says concerning the prophets: “I will make them eat wormwood and drink gall, because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”

16 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They teach you falsehood; they speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord.

17 They continually say to those who despise me, ‘The Lord says: “You will have peace,”’ and to everyone who walks according to the purpose of his heart, ‘No harm will come to you.’” 18 For who has stood in the council of the Lord, and has seen and heard his word? Who has paid attention to his word and heard it?

19 Behold, the storm of the Lord has gone forth in indignation; a tempestuous storm will fall cruelly on the head of the wicked.

20 The anger of the Lord will not turn back until he has executed and fulfilled the purposes of his heart. In the latter days you will understand this clearly.

21 I did not send the prophets, yet they ran; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied.

22 But if they had stood in my council, then they would have caused my people to hear my words, and would have turned them from their evil way and from the wickedness of their deeds.

23 Am I only a God nearby, declares the Lord, and not a God far away?

24 Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see them? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? Thus says the Lord.

25 I have heard what those prophets say, prophesying lies in my name, saying, “I have dreamed, I have dreamed.”

26 How long will this continue in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy lies, and who are only prophets of the deceit of their own hearts?

27 Who think that they will make my people forget my name by their dreams which each one tells to his neighbor, just as their fathers forgot my name because of Baal.

28 Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream; and let him who has my word speak my word faithfully. What does straw have in common with wheat? says the Lord.

29 Is not my word like fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who steal my words, each one from his neighbor.

31 “Behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the Lord, “who use their tongues and say, ‘He said.’

32 “Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams,” declares the Lord, “and tell them, and lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness. I did not send them or command them; they have brought no profit to this people,” declares the Lord.

Prophecy against the royal house of Judah

1 Thus says the Lord: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and declare there this word.

2 And say: Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, you who sit on the throne of David, you and your servants and your people who enter through these gates.

3 Thus says the Lord: Execute justice and righteousness, and deliver the oppressed from the hand of the oppressor; do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow; do not do violence, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

4 For if you truly obey this word, then kings who sit on the throne of David will enter through the gates of this house, riding on chariots and horses, they and their servants and their people.

5 But if you do not listen to these words, I have sworn by myself, declares the Lord, that this house will become a desolation.

6 For this is what the Lord says concerning the house of the king of Judah: “You are like Gilead to me, and the head of Lebanon; but I will surely make you a desert and uninhabited cities.

7 For I have prepared destroyers against you, each with his weapons; they will cut down your choice cedars and throw them into the fire.

8 Many nations will pass by this city, and each will say to his neighbor, ‘Why has the Lord done this to this great city?’

9 They will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and have bowed down to other gods and served them.’

10 Do not weep for the dead or mourn for them; weep bitterly for him who departs, for he will never return, nor will he see the land of his birth.”

11 For thus says the Lord concerning Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned in place of Josiah his father, who went out from this place: He shall not return there again.

12 But in the place where they have taken him captive he shall die, and shall never see this land again.

13 Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice, who uses his neighbor’s service without wages, and does not give him the wages of his labor;

14 Who says, “I will build myself a spacious house, and large rooms,” and he cuts out windows for it, and it is paneled with cedar and painted with vermilion.

15 Will you reign because you enclose yourself in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink, and exercise justice and righteousness? Therefore it went well with him.

16 He judged the cause of the afflicted and needy; then it went well with him. Is not this what it means to know me? Thus says the Lord.

17 But their eyes and your heart are set only on your greed, and on shedding innocent blood, and on oppression and violence, to carry it out.

18 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiachin, son of Josiah, king of Judah: They shall not mourn for him, saying, “Alas, my brother!” or “Alas, my sister!” Nor shall they mourn for him, saying, “Alas, Lord!” or “Alas, Majestic One!”

19 They shall bury him like a donkey’s grave, dragging him away and throwing him far outside the gates of Jerusalem.

20 Go up to Lebanon and cry out, and lift up your voice in Bashan, and cry out from Abarim, for your lovers are broken.

21 I spoke to myself of your prosperity, but you said, “I will not listen.” This is your way from your youth, for you have never listened to my voice.

22 The wind will sweep away all your shepherds, and your lovers will go into captivity: surely then you will be confounded and ashamed because of all your wickedness.

23 O you who dwell in Lebanon and make your nest in the cedars! How afflicted you will be when pains and sorrows come upon you, like those of a woman in labor!

24 As I live, says the Lord, even if Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring on my right hand, I would still pull you from there.

25 And I will deliver you into the hand of those who seek your life, and into the hand of those before whom you are afraid, namely, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

26 And I will cast you and your mother who bore you into a foreign land, where you were not born, and there you shall die.

27 But to the land to which they lift up their soul, to return, they shall not return.

28 Is this man Jeconiah a vile, broken vessel? Or a vessel in which no one delights? Why were they cast out, he and his generation, and hurled into a land they do not know?

29 O earth, earth, earth! Hear the word of the Lord.

30 Thus says the Lord: Write that this man is bereaved of his children, and is a man who will not prosper in his days; nor will any of his generation prosper, to sit on the throne of David and reign again in Judah.

2 E dize: Ouve a palavra do Senhor, ó rei de Judá, que te assentas no trono de Davi; tu, e os teus servos, e o teu povo, que entrais por estas portas.

3 Assim diz o Senhor: Exercei o juízo e a justiça, e livrai o espoliado da mão do opressor; e não oprimais ao estrangeiro, nem ao órfão, nem à viúva; não façais violência, nem derrameis sangue inocente neste lugar.

4 Porque, se deveras cumprirdes esta palavra, entrarão pelas portas desta casa os reis que se assentam no lugar de Davi sobre o seu trono, em carros e montados em cavalos, eles, e os seus servos, e o seu povo.

5 Mas se não derdes ouvidos a estas palavras, por mim mesmo tenho jurado, diz o Senhor, que esta casa se tornará em assolação.

6 Porque assim diz o Senhor acerca da casa do rei de Judá: Tu és para mim Gileade, e a cabeça do Líbano: mas por certo que farei de ti um deserto e cidades desabitadas.

11 Porque assim diz o Senhor acerca de Salum, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que reinou em lugar de Josias seu pai, que saiu deste lugar: Nunca ali tornará mais.

12 Mas no lugar para onde o levaram cativo morrerá, e nunca mais verá esta terra.

13 Ai daquele que edifica a sua casa com injustiça, e os seus aposentos sem direito, que se serve do serviço do seu próximo sem paga, e não lhe dá o salário do seu trabalho;

14 Que diz: Edificarei para mim uma casa espaçosa, e aposentos largos: e lhe abre janelas, e está forrada de cedro, e pintada de vermelhão.

15 Reinarás tu, porque te encerras em cedro? Acaso teu pai não comeu e bebeu, e não exercitou o juízo e a justiça? Por isso lhe sucedeu bem.

16 Julgou a causa do aflito e do necessitado; então lhe sucedeu bem; porventura não é isto conhecer-me? Diz o Senhor.

17 Mas os seus olhos e o teu coração não atentam senão para a tua avareza, e para o sangue inocente, a fim de derramá-lo, e para a opressão, e para a violência, a fim de levar isso a efeito.

18 Portanto assim diz o Senhor acerca de Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá: Não lamentarão por ele, dizendo: Ai, irmão meu, ou: Ai, minha irmã! Nem lamentarão por ele, dizendo: Ai, Senhor, ou: Ai, Majestoso!

19 Em sepultura de jumento o sepultarão, arrastando-o e lançando-o para bem longe, fora das portas de Jerusalém.

20 Sobe ao Líbano, e clama, e levanta a tua voz em Basã, e clama desde Abarim, porque estão quebrantados os teus namorados.

21 Falei comigo da tua prosperidade, mas tu disseste: Não ouvirei. Este é o teu caminho, desde a tua mocidade, pois nunca deste ouvidos à minha voz.

22 O vento apascentará todos os teus pastores, e os teus namorados irão para o cativeiro: certamente então te confundirás, e te envergonharás, por causa de toda a tua maldade.

23 Ó tu, que habitas no Líbano e fazes o teu ninho nos cedros! Quão lastimada serás quando te vierem as dores e os ais como da que está de parto!

24 Vivo eu, diz o Senhor, que ainda que Jeconias filho de Joaquim, rei de Judá, fosse o selo do anel da minha mão direita, eu dali te arrancaria.

25 E te entregarei na mão dos que buscam a tua vida, e na mão daqueles diante de quem tu temes, a saber, na mão de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, e na mão dos caldeus.

26 E lançar-te-ei, a ti e à tua mãe que te deu à luz, para uma terra estranha, em que não nasceste, e ali morrereis.

27 Mas à terra, para a qual eles levantam a sua alma, para ali tornarem, a ela não tornarão.

28 É, pois este homem Jeconias um vil vaso quebrado? Ou um vaso de que ninguém se agrada? Por que razão foram arremessados fora, ele e a sua geração, e arrojados para uma terra que não conhecem?

29 Ó terra, terra, terra! Ouve a palavra do Senhor.

8 और तुम इन लोगों से कहोगे: यहोवा यह कहता है: देखो, मैं तुम्हारे सामने जीवन का रास्ता और मृत्यु का रास्ता बताता हूँ।

9 जो कोई इस शहर में रहेगा, वह तलवार से, या अकाल से, या महामारी से मरेगा; लेकिन जो कोई बाहर निकलकर उन कसदियों के सामने सरेंडर करेगा जो तुम्हें घेर रहे हैं, वह जीवित रहेगा, और उसकी जान इनाम के तौर पर दी जाएगी।

10 क्योंकि मैंने इस शहर के खिलाफ अपना चेहरा बुराई के लिए किया है, भलाई के लिए नहीं, यहोवा की यही वाणी है। यह बेबीलोन के राजा के हाथ में दे दिया जाएगा, और वह इसे आग से जला देगा।

11 और तुम यहूदा के राजा के घराने से कहोगे: यहोवा की बात सुनो।

12 हे दाऊद के घराने, यहोवा यह कहता है: सुबह सही इंसाफ़ करो, और लूटे हुए को ज़ुल्म करने वाले के हाथ से छुड़ाओ, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि मेरा गुस्सा आग की तरह भड़के, और तुम्हारे बुरे कामों की वजह से उसे बुझाने वाला कोई न हो।

13 देखो, मैं तुम्हारे खिलाफ हूँ, हे घाटी में रहने वाले, हे मैदान की चट्टान, यहोवा कहता है: तुम्हारे खिलाफ जो कहते हो, “हमारे खिलाफ कौन आएगा?” या, “हमारे घरों में कौन आएगा?”

14 और मैं तुम्हें तुम्हारे कामों के हिसाब से सज़ा दूँगा, यहोवा कहता है; और मैं उसके जंगल में आग लगा दूँगा, जो उसके आस-पास की हर चीज़ को जला देगी।
