General Introduction

1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:

2 To know wisdom and instruction; to understand the words of understanding;

3 To receive the instruction of understanding, righteousness, justice, and equity;

4 To give prudence to the simple, and to the young man knowledge and discretion;

5 That the wise may hear and increase in wisdom; and the understanding may acquire wise counsel;

6 To understand a proverb and its interpretation, and the words of the wise, and their riddles.

3 Para se receber a instrução do entendimento, a justiça, o juízo, e a equidade;

4 Para dar ao simples prudência, e aos jovens conhecimento e bom siso;

5 Para o sábio ouvir e crescer em sabedoria e o entendimento adquirir sábios conselhos;

6 Para entender provérbios e sua interpretação: como também as palavras dos sábios, e suas adivinhações.

1 Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in the firmament of his power.

2 Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to the excellency of his greatness.

3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet; praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4 Praise him with the timbrel and flute; praise him with stringed instruments and organ.

5 Praise him with loud cymbals; praise him with resounding cymbals.

6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

The faithful praise their God with songs and musical instruments

1 Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints.

2 Let Israel rejoice in his Maker; let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

3 Let them praise his name with flute; let them sing his praise with timbrel and harp.

4 For the Lord delights in his people; he will adorn the meek with salvation.

5 Let the saints rejoice in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds.

6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats, and a two-edged sword in their hands.

7 To take vengeance on the nations, and to rebuke the peoples.

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 To execute upon them the judgment written; this honor will be given to all the saints. Praise the Lord.

1 Louvai ao Senhor. Cantai ao Senhor um cântico novo, e o seu louvor na congregação dos santos.

3 Louvem o seu nome com flauta, cantem-lhe o seu louvor com adufe e harpa.

1 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights.

2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts.

3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars.

4 Praise him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters that are above the heavens:

5 Praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded, and they were created.

6 He established them forever, and gave them a law that they will not transgress.

7 Praise the Lord from the earth: you sea creatures and all deeps,

8 Fire and hail, snow and vapor, and the stormy wind that executes his word;

9 Mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars;

10 Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds;

11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth;

12 Young men and maidens, old men and children,

13 Praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his glory is above earth and heaven.

14 He also exalts the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints, the children of Israel, a people near to him. Praise the Lord.

Exhortation to Praise the Lord for His Lovingkindness

1 Praise the Lord, for it is good to sing praises to our God; it is pleasant; praise is comely.

2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the dispersed of Israel;

3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds;

4 He counts the number of the stars, calling them all by name.

5 Great is our Lord, and great in power; his understanding is infinite.

6 The Lord lifts up the humble, and casts the wicked down to the ground.

7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises to our God on the harp.

8 He covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains;

9 He gives food to the livestock, and to the young ravens when they cry. 

10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse, nor does he delight in the swiftness of a man.

11 The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his mercy.

12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion.

13 For he has strengthened the bars of your gates; he blesses your children within you.

14 He makes peace within your borders and satisfies you with the finest flour;

15 He sends his commandment to the earth; his word runs swiftly;

16 He gives snow like wool and scatters frost like ashes;

17 He scatters his ice in pieces; who can withstand his cold?

18 He sends his word, and it melts; he makes the wind blow, and the waters flow.

19 He shows his word to Jacob, his statutes and his judgments to Israel. 

20 He has not dealt so with any other nation; and as for his judgments, they do not know them. Praise the Lord.

Man's Weakness and God's Faithfulness

1 Praise the Lord. O my soul, praise the Lord.

2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God as long as I live.

3 Do not trust in princes or in the sons of men, in whom there is no help.

4 Your breath goes out to them, and they return to their earth; in that very day their thoughts perish.

5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God,

6 Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever;

7 Who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free.

8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord raises up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. 

9 The Lord watches over the strangers; he upholds the fatherless and the widow, but he thwarts the way of the wicked.

10 The Lord will reign forever; your God, O Zion, endures from generation to generation. Praise the Lord.

3 Não confieis em príncipes nem em filhos de homens, em quem não hás salvação.

2 मैं तुझे प्रतिदिन धन्य कहूँगा और तेरे नाम की स्तुति सदा सर्वदा करता रहूँगा।

3 यहोवा महान है, उसकी स्तुति अत्यन्त आवश्यक है, और उसकी महानता अथाह है।

The Goodness, Greatness, and Providence of God

1 I will exalt you, my God, my King, and I will bless your name forever and ever.

2 I will bless you every day and praise your name forever and ever.

3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation will praise your works to another and will declare your mighty acts.

5 I will speak of the glorious majesty of your majesty and your wonderful works.

6 And they will speak of the might of your awesome acts; I will declare your greatness.

7 They will proclaim the memory of your great goodness and sing of your righteousness.

8 Gracious and gracious is the Lord, slow to anger and abounding in mercy.

9 The Lord is good to all, and his compassions are over all his works. 

10 All your works will praise you, O Lord, and your saints will bless you.

11 They will speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power;

12 that they may make known to the children of men your mighty acts and the glorious majesty of your kingdom.

13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom; your dominion endures through all generations.

14 The Lord upholds all who fall and raises up all who are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait for you, and you give them their food in due season.

16 You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

18 The Lord is near to all who call, to all who call on him in truth.

19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him; He will hear their cry and save them.

20 The Lord preserves all who love him, but all the wicked will be destroyed.

21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh will praise his holy name forever and ever.

A bondade, grandeza e providência de Deus

 

1 Eu te exaltarei, ó Deus, rei meu, e bendirei o teu nome pelos séculos dos séculos.

2 Cada dia te bendirei, e louvarei o teu nome pelos séculos dos séculos.

3 Grande é o Senhor, e muito digno de louvor, e a sua grandeza inexcrutável.

4 Uma geração louvará as tuas obras à outra geração, e anunciará as tuas proezas.

5 Falarei da magnificência gloriosa da tua majestade e das tuas obras maravilhosas.

6 E se falará da força dos teus feitos terríveis; e contarei a tua grandeza.

7 Publicarão abundantemente a memória da tua grande bondade, e cantarão a tua justiça.

8 Piedoso e benigno é o Senhor, sofredor e de grande misericórdia.

9 O Senhor é bom para todos, e as suas misericórdias são sobre todas as suas obras.

10 Todas as tuas obras te louvarão, ó Senhor, e os teus santos te bendirão.

11 Falarão da glória do teu reino, e relatarão o teu poder;

16 Abres a tua mão, e satisfazes os desejos de todos os viventes.

17 Justo é o Senhor em todos os seus caminhos, e santo em todas as suas obras.

18 Perto está o Senhor de todos os que invocam, de todos os que o invocam em verdade.

19 Ele cumprirá o desejo dos que o temem; ouvirá o seu clamor, e os salvará.

20 O Senhor guarda a todos os que o amam; mas todos os ímpios serão destruídos.

21 A minha boca entoará o louvor do Senhor, e toda a carne louvará o seu santo nome para todo o sempre.
