Samuel 25
Nabal refuses to give food to David's servants
And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David, and who is the son of Jesse? there are many servants today, and each runs away from his master.
Would I then take my bread, and my water, and the meat of my cattle, which I have cut off for my clippers, and give it to men I do not know where it comes from?
Then David's young men turned to his way: and they came back, and came, and told him everything according to all these words.
So David said to his men, "Each one heaves his sword." And each one girded his sword, and David also girded his own: and there went up after David about four hundred men, and two hundred stayed with the luggage.
But one of the young men announced it to Abigail, the wife of Nebal, saying, Behold, David sent messengers from the desert to greet our master; but he launched himself at them.
However, those men have been very good to us, and we have never been aggravated by them, and we lacked nothing in all the days we talked with them when we were in the field.
They served us all around the wall, both day and night, every day that we walk with them, feeding the sheep.
Look, now, and see what you will do, because evil is already determined against our master and against all his house, and he is such a son of Belial, that there is no one who can speak to him.
